They're among the few abhumans that seem to be tolerated, probably because they only show up on one world (that I know of). Not sure if the Imperium wants people mingling genetics with them (if they aren't too spliced up genetically speaking for breeding with anything not like them). But then I don't know the Imperial position on humans trying to fuck an Ogryn.

At any rate are the catfolk even still canon or are they rotting in a shallow grave in Matt Ward's basement along with the Squats?

Felinids, Ogryn and Ratlings (and I think to an extent Beastmen and Squats, but they didn't fit the game's later aesthetic so you don't hear much about them) are sanctioned abhuman strains. They're mutants, and fraternisation is a questionable activity, but only the most puritanical will give a shit if you bang a flock of catgirls.

It's possible their genetics may be an adaptation or knowing augmentation to survive on their world. This may render them one of the few races that cannot leave their world due to their changes. At any rate they're virtually unknown in the Imperium so lack of crusade due to sheer obscurity. Could just be a crusade hasn't caught up with them yet. Much bigger critters to deal with in the galaxy.
