Seriously, how many troops are supposed to fit in that?
Wyatt Wright
Look bro, the streamlined design makes it look smaller than it is.
Leo Powell
most of the cargo bulk is underslung
Josiah Ward
It looks like a slightly upscaled Y-wing cockpit with a couple wings stuck on and the engines of the X-Wing repositioned. It's a good design, but it does not look like a troop transport. It doesn't even look like a modern day 2 person plane.
Isaac Stewart
So, /swg/, one of my players is asking a question. I'm using the FFG system
If they have, say a Shock Glove on their left hand, and are holding a Blaster Pistol in their right hand, can the player attack with the pistol only and not have to deal with the two-weapon fighting rule?
Jack Young
This, the angle really hides the bulkiness in OP's picture.
Sure, I mean, as long as they don't engage with someone up close.
Samuel Lee
Wait, is that supposed to be a troop transport?
Luke Phillips
Probably two squads.
Mason Peterson
Yes?
Michael Gutierrez
All that hidden bulk.
Evan Powell
the whole lower half is tranasport compartment. judging by the concept art and little bits we've seen in trailers fitting 10-12 seems a safe bet.
Asher Ward
ungh thicker etc
Logan Allen
Either those are small troops, or something fucky with perspective is going on...
John Smith
? just because the cockpit looks like a y-wing's doesnt mean its the same size
Jyn and the rebellion guy are shown seated side by side in there
Bentley Gray
Could this finally be the return of kickass infantry gunships instead of number after number of disappointing weaksauce transports?
Easton Cruz
So something fucky with perspective.
Isaac Wilson
One can hope, it DOES have a gunner. Spoiler because some people are sensitive about that.
Nathaniel Murphy
As long as you're only attacking with a single, one-handed weapon I think Two weapon fighting doesn't apply
Anthony Campbell
hes adowable
Connor Diaz
Now, THAT's a Selonian.
Gavin Powell
Naw that's a Iakaru
Seems like they're using the FFG version of the Selonian though. Hopefully they use the FFG Gank look as well.
Henry Sanders
Probably about a squad worth. I'd guess that it's meant to be used by commando types for getting into and out of hot zones relatively fast, compared to more conventional transports.
Gabriel Gomez
I was hoping he'd be a Drall
Daniel Diaz
I like that Rogue One is putting more random aliens in the background among the rebels. It always kinda bothered me how all-human the rebel-empire conflict was, while scum-scenes were always choke-full of weird rubbery foreheads. Just how common are humans supposed to be in the SW galaxy? What approximate percentage of the total population are they?
Juan Cox
So I went and made stats for the Nothoiin for EotE.
Jonathan Miller
Thinking about doing this too. Would I be better off buying individual TIEs or buying another Core? I split my OG Core with a friend so I only have the X-Wing and some cards from it.
Joseph Lee
You gonna post them
Ian Young
If she can, she'd either up the power of the blasters, or add some kind of missile weaponry. Or both.
Michael Jones
May as well buy an individual, unless you would like to get more. The solo pack has some useful pilots, and different cards than what are included in the starter
Lucas Clark
***May begin with a rank in Piloting - Space or Navigation. I'm considering reducing starting XP to 90-95. Usually I start at 90 and add/reduce.
Lucas Kelly
mon'keigh/10
Juan Brooks
Alright I'm going to be an absolute mad man and play with classic x-wings. Someone want to help my build be more viable, or as viable as it can be?
Yeah bring it down, a 3 value is more economical than a 1.
Eli Bennett
Integrated astros for Luke and Biggs, plus Engine Upgrade for Wedge, at the very least.
Grayson Carter
quite common. I'm not sure how canon it still is, but the empire was pretty pro-human dominance.
Original Star Wars did show some aliens in the rebel fleet, at least in Return of the Jedi.
Benjamin Walker
90 or 95?
Julian Cooper
There was Chewie, the Mon Calamari, and Nien Numb, with the last two only being in RotJ.
Logan Allen
A Stennes Shifter was in TFA. Also briefly a Kyuzo (from Clone Wars).
Chase Watson
Maybe not for this build, but would it be worth to take shield upgrade with R2-D2? having an extra shield to regenerate to, combined with Lukes extra survivabillity, sounds like it could be worth it.
Asher Thompson
>get home from work >what's going on in this thre- >U-wing and TIE striker
by the emporer, dat TIE Striker
Brayden Wilson
Would n'dru with VI Homing missile and glitterstim be a viable cheap ace hunter?
James Hughes
I'm complete rubbish at mathhammer so I can't back this up with concrete calculations, but I would say no. Integrated Astromech is a more cost-effective option that does almost the same job while freeing up points for other upgrades. That price tag of 0 is just too good to pass up. If you don't have anything else to spend the points on, though, go ahead.
Xavier Jenkins
It does the same job as in letting you survive one extra hit, yes, but keeping R2 alive longer could potentially mean more hits survived, so it's not the same job at all. With pretty much any other astromech Integrated would always be better than shield upgrade.
Carson Bell
totally different story HotAC, because the missions are far longer, so you'll be able to regen the extra shields more. Also, you can stack shield upgrades, and a couple of point cost isn't as big a concern.
Brayden Carter
Defiantly 90 if those free ranks are there in fact 90 either way, maybe less.
The reason 3's and 1's are better than 2's is because you're essentially gaining 10xp net and I'm pretty sure no other official race has two 3-1's.
Asher Thompson
Does anyone ever take shield/hull upgrade on their lists, other than potential filler for the few points you have left?
Liam Gomez
Hence why I said almost. Personally, I don't think the marginal benefit of one extra shield on Luke is worth the expenditure. He's already hard to kill. In a regular XWM game, I generally get more mileage out of upgrading other squad mates in such a way that Luke never needs that extra shield in the first place.
Still, I can see the benefit of getting an opponent to waste shots on a tanky death star (hue).
Angel Brown
my scum hawk always gets one or the other. it always draws a lot of attention and often enough 1 extra hull or sheild means a whole extra turn of fucking with my opponent.
Cooper Howard
So, I'm trying to find some way to make downtime sessions more interesting for players.
I was thinking having a set number of in-game days before the next adventure where they can either spend those days training or grabbing equipment. Each day would be 5 exp, but they wouldn't be able to buy equipment on that same in-game day; they would have to spend another day shopping.
I'd probably have it as little as 2 in-game days to a max of 5 in-game days, so they have to decide whether or not to train their characters or get gear.
Right now, this is just me trying to make up something and it could be bad in practice once the players get all the stuff they wanted. What do you think?
Blake Russell
perhals giving them a socialising option thay can get them new or improve the standing of contacts. costs a smallbamount of money but a character can go out and meet and buy a few drinks for a merchant and a couple days later can get a small discount or bonus too finding rare equipment from that merchant.
Chase Bell
If they run they're Imperials, and if they stand they're disciplined Imperials!
i notice its not actually a boost action. so if you're crazy for speed you could put EU on one and have it essentially boost twice in a turn.
Nathan Turner
My only problem with the U-Wing is the low pilot skills.
Tyler Baker
is it wrong to just buy something just to have as a model
goddamn, I like this thing
Robert Martinez
>movable wings I'm BRRRRRRTing so hard from my dick
Jose Bell
Not at all. Thats what I do for epic ships
Cameron Anderson
hm
Ryder Cox
Is that supposed to be the bargain bin Kyle Katarn shown in the Rogue One trailers?
Aaron Baker
>yo dawg, I hear you like going fast, so we put an Engine Upgrade on your Striker so you can boost while you boost.
I'm also very curious what the new EPT will turn out to be, and what the effect of Lightweight Frame (which looks like it applies to all TIEs, like T.I.E. Mk 2) does. It's something to do with modifying defense dice, but the important bits are obscured.
Nathaniel Taylor
Seems too hard to use for my taste. I really can't picture a situation where I would consider this.
Maybe Sabine's Tie? Maybe?
Alexander Sanchez
Cyle Catarn? Yeah, that's him. He's also the best U-Wing pilot.
Somebody at FFG has a sense of humor, I reckon, his Pilot Ability is a support feature with similar mechanics to Kyle, but he removes Stress during the activation phase.
I'm not sure what ship you'd want to do it with, but it's definitely a bet hedger. You plan your maneuvers for if your opponent DOESN'T do a certain maneuver, then guess and change if your guess is correct, maybe?
Jack Johnson
Does this mean U-Wing and TIE Striker stats for EotE/Age sooner rather than later?
Nicholas Martin
>title forward >move 5 forward >boost forward >laugh as you take out the enemy in their spawn turn 1
Mason Powell
Pair with low PS a and b wings. Even if you guess wrong you now know his maneuver, boostband barrel roll to mess that up.
Grayson Ross
Aw geez, if the cost calculation is right on the PS1 generic at 16 points, you could throw fucking five of those out there. 5 madmen in overclocked engines, fangs out, howling toward the enemy. Did the Empire steal this design doctrine from the Mandos?
Who knew, the Striker would be ideal for an Alpha Strike.
Nicholas Jenkins
or just getting shot up first.
Cameron Powell
That list is probably terrible. And I want to buy five of these just to do that
Nolan Adams
Yeah, throwing five PS 1 dudes with no shields and, 2 defense dice, and no tokens at an enemy might not be the best idea.
Doesn't mean you shouldn't try it at least once.
Hunter Young
Would this baby fit in well in the SW Galaxy?
Caleb Allen
What about just two against big ship lists. Force them to bump turn 1.
Camden Powell
No.
starwars aesthetics generally only allow engines showing if it's big ol' round jet/rocket engines or it's hull integrated thrusters that you wouldn't even notice unless it's glowing blue.
Aaron Rodriguez
Here's a view of the engines tho.
Matthew Reed
...
Austin Adams
Bothan Rebel
Evan Bennett
A pair of cheap blockers with a bit more firepower than the standard TIE might not be a bad choice
Josiah Stewart
Not honking big and round ehough, and not integrated enough.
Lose the bulging nubs, make the entire wing/back into an engine. Now that's a SW ship.
Hudson James
Well, it's a crazy plan, success would probably depend entirely on enemy composition. You get anybody who can arc dodge for shit and they'll see you coming a mile away and just move. If they're also high speed ships, you might just blow right past each other. And god help you if the enemy has a turret or can change manuevers so they end up behind you popping a K-Turn.
But, on the other hand, we don't know what Lightweight from does exactly (other than it does enhance defense), nor it's cost, it might mitigate some of the dangers.
Or, y'know, since this isn't the protectorate fighter, you might come up with a less crazy plan. Is this why Fearlessness is Scum only?
Camden Hernandez
I can't tell if the big huge things above the engines are meant to be additional engines that open up or just where the power for the engines go through.
James Cox
A-wings are the reason Fearlessnes is Scum only.
But as to what the Striker is going to be useful for and what tactics it can employ, those are things that we will have to wait for the dial before deciding. All we know right now is that the 2 turns are white, which is going to keep it from being a cheap interceptor replacement. (Unless there is something crazy like green 3 turns. That would be amazing)
Zachary Collins
Well, judging by the picture it also has S-Loops in there, it has the rule card.
Michael King
>A-wings are the reason Fearlessnes is Scum only. Why's that? I don't really know X-wing, what makes that combo such a problem?
Dominic Nguyen
A wings are super fast and dodgy, but unlike other ships their title gives them two EPTs
so they can PTL and still have fearlessness
Juan Flores
Not to mention that proton rockets are pretty gnarly when you just add yet another auto hit die in there.
Jaxson Hall
>he doesn't know about Fenn Rau with fearless, chips, and Advanced Proton Torpeedus
Gavin Walker
still requires set up with target lock then focus.
A wings independently shoot shit willy nilly at whatever they can get
Aaron Jackson
what it could is
Connor Garcia
I NEVER FEAR DEATH OR DYIN' I ONLY FEAR NEVER TRYIN' As soon as it's out, bring that list to a tournament. It'll probably crash and burn, but nobody will possibly see it coming and you will enter legend
Xavier Thompson
You have to make the Howie scream as you unveil this move.
