Space Marine chapter creation thread

Ave Imperiator Anons of Veeky Forums, I am starting a space marine army, but I would like your help (mainly becuase it's more fun) to create a chapter for me. This will also work as a way to see what I need to buy in order to get what this new chapter we are making needs

Ok, so first thing to roll: Why Was The Chapter Founded? (d10)

Rolled 1 (1d10)

Strategic Prognostication - "Our tarot cards say there's going to be a threat here, maybe. Found a Chapter!"
OK, off to a good start, next roll: When Was The Chapter Founded? (d100)

Rolled 55 (1d100)

38th Millenium, ok so we are a fairly new chapter

Who was the Chapter's Progenitor? (d100)

Rolled 91 (1d100)

Raven Guard

Gene-seed purity (d10)

Rolled 9 (1d10)

Come on mutations!
Hulking mutant Raven Guards!

Flawed - Chapter's gene-seed is flawed and sets them apart from their progenitor

Looks like you got your wish

Chapter Demeanour (d10)

Rolled 3 (1d10)

No Mercy, No Respite - Let the enemy go so we can follow them?

If they have one, what mutation do they have? (d10).
This is the one all 20% pf pur marines get

No, I didn't. They're weirdos with Flaws, not mutants with Altered Stock mutations.

Rolled 4 (1d10)

Oolitic Secretions - Weird-coloured skin. Yeah, that's it.

Ok time for our flaw
If one exists, what is the Chapter's Flaw? (d10)

Rolled 7 (1d10)

Lame, let's hope I get something not shit from this

Rolled 10 (1d10)

Eye to Eye - The Chapter hates any method of warfare other than running up to the enemy and punching them.

Figure of Legend (d100)

Rolled 7 (1d10)

Fits with No Mercy, No Respite I guess

Rolled 2 (1d100)

Rolled 1 (1d10)

(9–10) Flawed - Chapter's gene-seed is flawed and sets them apart from their progenitor - roll on Chapter Flaws table

It's a roll on chapter flaws, not on the mutation table.

A Battle-Brother seconded from a previous generation Successor or even the First Founding Legion that provided the new Chapter’s gene-seed. Roll again on this table to determine what type of warrior he was, rerolling if you get this result again.

Deeds of Legend (d100)

Rolled 59, 49 = 108 (2d100)

It was a Chief Librarian and he was a stalwart enemy of the servants of Chaos, and slew a Daemon Prince

Chapter homeworld (d100)

Rolled 57 (1d100)

Wait a second. What happened to the death world classification in the chapter home world types section?

Feral World
No idea...

Homeworld terrain (d100)

Rolled 33 (1d100)

Desert
You guys want a re-roll, if you feel this is to generic/doesn't what we have rolled so far?

No it's good.

Ok then, onto the next roll: Rule of homeworld (d10)

Rolled 9 (1d10)

Distant rule - "You see that castle up there? It's inhabited by the mighty sky-warriors of Emp-rar. Sometimes they come and steal our children."

Chapter organisation (d10)

Rolled 9 (1d10)

Unique organisation

Now we're talking!

Combat doctrine (d10)

>no mercy no respite
>Unusual skin color
>Eye to eye
>Distant rulers
>Desert world
>Founded by a librarian

Well if we're going Ravenguard canon the skin colour would be super pale

I'm thinking some kind of space marine Bedouin or some shit

Rolled 4 (1d10)

Stealth

Sneaks up behind you: Psst nothing personell heretic

Specialty restrictions (units the chapter cannot field) (d100)

Rolled 75 (1d100)

So far so Ravenguard

Rolled 90 (1d100)

rollin

For some reason I was picturing them vaguely snake themed. Egyptian/Bedouin yeah.

Tech marine restriction and u our fighting style respectively

Techmarine

But this one has librarians which one do you guys prefer?

We needed another d100 for unique tools just use his 90 for that

We were FOUNDED by a librarian

Tech marine. We were founded by a Librarian after all.

Let's roll for special equipment.

Preferred fighting style is lame. Let's reroll that.

Ok, roll for special equipment. (d100)

Let's not.

Rolled 67 (1d100)

Special Mount: While other Chapter’s may keep animals as companions, this Chapter uses them for what they were intended for—transportation. Examples: Fenrisian Wolf, Carnodon, very angry Grox.

What form do the Chapters' beliefs take? (d100)

Rolled 28 (1d100)

Revere the Primarch - "Our Spiritual Liege is better than yours!"

At what strength is the Chapter? (d10)

Rolled 45 (1d100)

wrong die user

Rolled 9 (1d10)

Nominal: The Chapter can field ten full companies, each with ten squads. In all likelihood most every squad consist of ten brethren and some specialised appointments may be empty, but the Chapter is regarded as fully fit for battle.

SPEHSS MUHREEN STRONK!

Who are your Chapter friendly with? (d100)

Rolled 61 (1d100)

Rolled 49 (1d100)

Ecclesiarchy

We need someone to keep the ferals in check

Ok, enemies (d100)

Rolled 10 (1d100)

Orks...
Re-roll or are we using the result?

>special mount
>Allies to Ecclesiarchy

Space Bedouin Muslims intensifies

We field no Techmarines because 1. The admech cult is Heresy and 2. Fucking desert sand and 3. We probably dont get along with them because our unrelenting hatred probably caused us to destroy a tech cache and 4. Who the fuck needs vehicles we have dewbacks or w/e

Yes!

I don't see a problem with Orks as enemies

Who's up for rolling our name?

It better be SOMETHING vipers

...

Rolled 18 (1d100)

Rolled 46 (1d100)

Rollin, this might turn out to be good

Cool, we got "Dark" here

Rolled 25 (1d100)

>Dark
>Wierd skinned stealthy Ravenguard successors named DARK something's

It intensifies

>Dark Knights
>Distant rule
>Stealthy
>Mounted
>Ecclesiarchy
>Eye to eye
>No mercy no respite

DEUS VULT, we are fucking Bastard Sneaky dishonorable crusaders

Rolled 94, 13 = 107 (2d100)

So we're silent camel riders?

"Dark Knights"

A mount is stealthier than a vehicle anyway, especially in a desert

Ok, now that we have gotten our name sorted (if everyone agrees with Dark Knights) how about we move over to stuff like: the name of our chapter master, homeworld, colours, heraldry, etc

STEALTH BASTARD CRUSADERS
PALE OF SKIN, BLACK OF HEART
NO MERCY, NO RESPITE
SWIFT AND UNSEEN

>Colours

Guys, what if your fortress on our homeworld lies in a deep dark canyon where harsh sun never goes, and the natives sees the place as cursed?

Built INTO the canyon perhaps, as I see it on a desert world most of the settlements should be built into, under, or nestled between mountains. But that's a good idea. They can call it the serpents pit, the Dark Knights issue forth from its black depths to conduct raids, demand tribute, and search for prospects

Part of the challenge of joining is climbing down the sheer cliff face Into total darkness, as falling means instant death.

Maybe these guys can be the ally marines of the Barbarusian Royal Rangers?

Also, thinking about making a thread tomorrow/later today to finish them up, would anyone be interested?

I like where this is going.

Shall we have a name/title at the end of our chapter master's name? Like the white scars have Khan.

Ayo, anybody want me to GENERATE SOME MARINES?

Where's the summary post?

Mitebcool

Where did everyone go?

Still here, working in painter

>SUMMARY

Figure of Legend - A Battle-Brother seconded from a previous generation Successor or even the First Founding Legion that provided the new Chapter’s gene-seed
He was a Chief Librarian who slew a Daemon Prince
Desert Terrain Homeworld
Distant Rule
Unique Organization
Stealthy Combat Doctrine (Raven Guard)
No Tech Marines (enemies with Admech?)
Special Mounts
Revere the Primarch beliefs
Nominal Strength (10 companies)
Ecclesiarchy Allies
Ork Enemies

Random name is DARK KNIGHTS, fittingly enough

Deus Vult

Will continue with my suggestions in next post.

Maybe Shaykh?
Since it's an honourific title for bedouins and in Arabic language in general

>Colours
See image for my suggestion, based on desert camo-pattern as well as Snake coloration

Suggest lots of Snake iconography for the chapter, Heraldry is a Serpent wound around an Aquila

Personality suggestion is hyper pragmatic bastards

Fight like Knights but have no 'honor', ambush enemies, give no quarter, slaughter women and children, fight dirty whenever possible

Enemies with the Admech for some reason that should be important in their background (something to do with their inability to let an enemy escape or to withdraw from combat, maybe they damaged or destroyed something in their zeal to chase down and destroy the enemy)

Friends with Ecclesiarchy for some reason that should be important in their background (roll up Bedouin Sister allies?)

Thematic traits drawn from Knights Hospitalier, Bedouin, Kobra (GI Joe)

Officer Titles:
Brother: Ghazi
Sergeant: Ustad
Chaplain: Muezzin - NOTE: The Chaplaincy and the Librarium are fused among the Dark Knights owing to their respect of rigorous study and prognostication. A Muezzin represents a non-pyschic member of the Chaplaincy and is roughly of equal rank to a Lexicanium.
Lexicanium: Hafiz
Codiciers: Faqīh
Chief Librarian: Marāji
Force Commander/Captain: Shaykh - NOTE: Forces are usually commanded by Librarians of the rank of Faqīh or higher, those Dark Knights without psychic talents to rise to this rank are rare.
Apothecary: Hakim
Master Apothecarion: Allamah
Chapter Master: Imamah - The Chapter Master is always a Librarian, and typically served as the Marāji before ascending to command the entire chapter, though exceptions can/have occured.

Suggestion:

Despite their ruthless presence on the battlefield, the Dark Knights are not uncultured - as a matter of fact, understanding of theology and religious study, as well as philosophy, is paramount to advancement in the chapter, and the study and debate of these subjects are part of their daily training.

Rolled 85 (1d100)

I dig it

Suggestion: On snake iconography

The Snake is an animalistic motif for the chapter, often found twined around or wrapped throughout more traditional Imperial symbols. This reflects both the Dark Knight philosophy on warfare, as well as their belief regarding their place in the greater Imperium. They are the deadly viper that lurks in the shadows. The Emperor is the sun - the source of their strength, as the snake warms himself on the rock. But as a snake, they must also strike from hiding, and live in the shadows. When they strike, they cannot release nor shirk - battle is an affair done to the death. If their fangs have been bared, retreat or diplomacy is already a foregone conclusion.

It also plays a key role in the chapters initiation rights. The Serpents Pit, the pitch black canyon the Chapter's fortress is located in, cuts through the ground of the Valley of Death, a rocky place infested with pit vipers and sparse of vegetation. Surviving the trip through the valley, and it's many snakes, is the first of many tests. The seconds is the sheer, slippery climb down into the maw of the Serpents Pit, into total darkness without the aid of equipment or tethers.

What will they use as mounts tho?
Dewbacks, or Gene-modifies camels?

Frankly I don't think a camel, no matter how gene modded, is big enough to heft a space marine in full armor. I'm all for giant lizards or something to that effect. Or some horrible Lizard/Camel hybrid that's indigenous to the planet, with an ornerous temper and big scaly humps that store water, who spit their poisonous cud at predators

Suggestion:

Maybe they could have some sort of rituals/beliefs centered around water, since they are coming from a desert planet

You have a valid point
Maybe camels for scouts?
And Dewback kind of things for the others?

Or something akin to the Sandworms of Arrakis maybe?

I would have thought their skin would be translucent.
