So if Rogal Dorn is a potato What othet vegetables can we use to represent the primarchs?
Kayden Hernandez
Also, I just noticed that's an Iron Warriors version of one of the casemate Baneblade variants, but I can't be sure which. I also just noticed that they positioned the exhaust pipes to cover up the statue/mural/whateverit'scalled on the back.
Gavin Evans
Look up FW Stormsword and Stormblade. They have that type of exhaust.

Recently started reading the earlier BL books about the HH again. It's kinda funny how all the primarchs who were bro's were "Closest palls of all the primarchs !" back then. Specially because where we're at now in the series it's like every book has at least 2 duels between primarchs that doesn't result in anything really happening because that'd change the battle at Terra too much.
Ayden Hall
Are there any examples of a land raider phobos as the standard plastic raider or is it all MkIIB during the heresy?
Carson Fisher
The friendships pretty much went:
>Horus & Sanguinius = friendly with everyone >Fulgrim/Ferrus/Vulkan crafters clique >Logar/Magnus/Khan deep thinkers clique >Guilliman & Dorn = no real friends but resepcted Ferrus, Horus, Sangy, and Russ the most >Lion & Russ = Distrusted by everyone else >Corax = edgy loner neither liked or hated >Pert, Curze, Angron, Alpharius = actively on bad terms with everybody besides Horus
Robert Adams
It was always pretty ridiculous how the rest of the Primarchs were supposed to accept Curze. I mean Angron you can make the excuse of the nails messing him up but Curze is basically a serial killer.
Angel Price
MkIIB GOAT

Fulgrim did accept Curze and he was the closest thing to a friend that he had.

There's one image in one of the books of the plastic LR with its sponsons. Also, they Prometheus is featured in several images and it has the MkIII sponsons, just with heavy bolters instead of lascannons.
Ethan Hughes
You might lump Magnus and Perturabo together. They were friends and spent time together exploring Terra and discovering ancient secrets. There's one scene in Angel Exterminatus where Perturabo is being inaugurated by the Emperor and he mentions how he shares close bonds with Magnus.

The Black Templars are a bit of a black sheep of the space marine chapters, with them being the only chapter that does believe that the Emprah is a god and all
Adrian Wood
They are the only ones who do obey the Edict of Nikea to the letter, though. Emps would look at the Angels of Death psyker supplement and say "Didn't I just ban these witches?"

Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my soul... And my mind... even my voices... The body I've lost... the primarchs I've lost... won't stop hurting... It's like they're all still there. You feel it, too, don't you? I'm gonna make them give back our past!

Fulgrim was something of a mentor to Cruze, but it is only mentioned in one short story, and holds no ground anywhere else, there are no mentions of friendship between those primarchs or legions. In early years of HH books, when there was no consistency between writers and no general rule how to write legions/primarchs, Corax saw Curze as someone really close to him, 'cuz of "my stealth" eaven if NL were not prone to stealth tactics, and it is questionable how much Curze was stealthy during his years on Nostramo.
Kevin Thompson
Looks better, but still Ahriman deserves FW treatment
Joshua Reyes
Rolled 1 (1d10)
Vulkan too was mentor to Curze, but it was already too late, Curze lost what little trust he had after Dorn confronted him about the visions he had confided in Fulgrim. Pre-Isstvan V Curze ran away from Vulkan and rejoined his legion, which made Dorn quite distressed when he found out that his orders to gather at Isstvan for the VIIIth had been received by Curze. This is in the Outcast Dead and the part with Vulkan in Artefacts, which is more than just one short story.
Asher Baker
>>Logar/Magnus/Khan deep thinkers clique Lorgar-Magnus and Magnus-Khan were definitely friendships, but I'm not sure Lorgar-Khan was ever a thing.
Dust (weathering powders or a very very light tan drybush over everything) does a lot. It especially cuts down the brightness of the hazard stripes.

It's a shame that the Lion and the Wolf never got to patch things up. I get the idea that Russ matured a bit after the Heresy.

Is the land raider phobos just the standard 40k land raider from GW? Looking at what boxes to buy for my DG and just trying to make sure I get the dedicated transport for Deathshroud
At this point anything that's not FW is a pass for me.
It just looks all so cartoony.
Fuck GW
Anthony Cook
Yeah it's a regular one, Phobos sounds cooler than MkII or whatever.
Andrew Brown
If Phobos is MkII, what's MkI and what's MkIII? Because Phobos is the variant that has several marks just like how Proteus has different variants.
It's weird they couldn't just name the Proteus the MkI, armoured proteus as maybe MkIb, FW variant is the MkIIb and GW variant is the MkIII. Pic related could be maybe MkIc or something.
Noah Adams
>le emo Corax meme Corax might have been a loner, yeah but friendships with Guilliman and Russ are at least somewhat implied in his background. >Beat Guilliman at warhammer three times. >When Corax wanted to punch Horus after they told him to suicide his legion at Gate 42 Russ was able to stop Corax and convince him to go along with the plan.
Angel Nguyen
Corax also only really felt something for Curze because Curze reminded him of himself. He basically aknowledges that he would have ended up the same if he had crashed on Nostramo instead of Deliverance.
Andrew Hill
Makes sense to me - Pert and Magnus may have gotten on together, but I can't imagine the casualty-heavy tactics of the Lord of Iron would sit well with the smallest legion, which probably also had one of the lowest legion recruitment rates - we know gene-seed implantation-wise the IW's was the easiest and the BA's was the hardest (I think they even used Sang's own blood to try and stabilise it), but the nature of the Sons makes me think they're not much better than the BAngles for it
Benjamin Hughes
Sons, Ravens, BAngels and Emperor's Children all had problems. Which one is worst is a matter for debate
Mason Sullivan
The TSons used psychically controlled Automata from the Arkadine Mechanicum to supplement their forces and take the bullets for them.
Blake Williams
SW was one of the gene seeds with the highest rate of rejection, but maybe TS had similar problems as well, with all those emergent psykers and some flesh changes.
Gabriel Nelson
...
Connor Cook
Hmm, wonder how/if that'll be included - super cortex controller?
Didn't know the Ravens had problems, but I think the Children's main issue was a lot of their gene-seed getting hit early on - once they got back up to strength I didn't think their were many issues
Flesh change and Perils probably did a number on them, yeah.
It's 2017 we should finally be getting Inferno, right?
Jaxson Gonzalez
Probably their praevians get even better bonuses or mechanicum troops can be taken with +1 generic boosts TS only recruited from prospero so they were guaranteed psykers, and then used robots ask the foot sloggers, once they reunited with Magnus and he lost his eye they were actually pretty stable So they would have bonded over BEEP BOPS and the final grand attack that overwhelms the enemy with minimal casualties as well
Logan Gomez
I really dont get it
> shattered legions cant have a primarch > including wounded corax > t'd make loads of sense with the After Isstvan RoW
Zachary Cook
Let me tell you about sneaking around whilst playing death metal and having flash lights on
Dylan Thomas
Read deliverance lost, corax and the RG had plenty to do.
On istvaan, i was under the impression the loyalists were divided
Nolan Gonzalez
>Probably their praevians get even better bonuses or mechanicum troops can be taken with +1 generic boosts I don't even care any more
>TS only recruited from prospero Recruiting mostly from a single planet is stupid. Even 40k chapters recruit from whole planetary systems, so not only it's hard to concieve a legion could mantain its numbers using a single source of manpower, but strategically detrimental, as it would mean a legion's ability to deploy dozens of thousands of marines depends on a single world, and the supply lines that are easiest to disrupt are those which are very definite and concentrated.
Huh, now I understand why Perturabo hated Mortarion.
Just look at Ultramar, and the Iron Warriors also used the whole Meratara cluster as main recruiting grounds, which coupled with their EZ geneseed allowed to pump out marines on an industrial scale.
Now I understand why Corax was scared about ending up like Curze. Konrad Corax, Corvus Curze, the initials stay the same, whilst still having kewl nd' X-otik letterz in their names.
Levi Nelson
Turnip not furry enough
Joshua Gonzalez
i'm interested in starting a solar auxilia or a (dark) mechanicum army are the rules for the mechanicum condensed somewhere ? i get the impression that they are scattered about different books

Liked the idea of grey trim on the armor plates? I still havent weathered it, so the contrast looks more abrupt than it will be.

While the LR Phobos is the standard one, the LR MkIIB and the Proteus/Armoured Proteus are the standard ones for 30k. Nothing wrong with the plastic phobos though, just as there's nothing wrong with the regular Rhino.

Speaking of beakies. I was thinking of using the imperial space marine as a specialist for my DG force. Now I'm not that concerned about a special weapons guy having a suit to boot, but would it be too strongly against established fluff? From what I understand the civil war was well underway by the time the armour was produced.
Ian Lewis
Fluff it as salvage from a looted corpse or a single tester wearing Artificer Armour
Justin Garcia
Aye that could work, maybe giving it more of a beaten look and perhaps signs of repurposing.
Grayson Foster
The armour was being tested as a prototype throughout the legions before the heresy broke out, so it'd make sense for a consul or maybe a kitted out sergeant to have it.
Elijah Butler
GW naming conventions are based on real life chronology and FW naming conventions are based on which model they're remaking.
Rhinos: >1988 - 40k MkIb >1989 - Epic MkIb >1997 - Epic MkIb >2002 - 40k MkIIc aka. Mars pattern >2011 - FW MkIc aka. Deimos pattern, inspired by the 1988 Rhino I don't think MkIa, MkIIa or MkIIb exist, the MkIb and MkIIc designations were probably based on "rule of cool".
Land Raiders: >1988 - 40k MkI >1989 - Epic MkI >1997 - Epic MkII >2000 - 40k MkIII aka. Phobos, sometimes called MkV, has dozens of variants both with and without kits >2004 - FW MkIIb aka. Phobos(?), inspired by the 1997 Land Raider >2011 - FW MkI(?) Proteus, inspired by the 1988 Land Raider >2011 - FW Mk??? Armoured Proteus, inspired by the 1988 Land Raider but with MkII sponsons because why not >2012 - FW Spartan, in-universe invented after Proteus and before Phobos, inspired by 1989 White Dwarf article for 40k Not sure where the Achilles and Achilles-Alpha fit in.
Both SW and TS had the highest rejection rates, and both of their geneseeds was basically a death sentence since the flesh change/wulfen curse was inevitable
Isaac Sanchez
It wasn't; it's mentioned that Lorgar thought Khan was an uncouth barbarian
Nolan Carter
And wasn't there a bit about Iron Hands and/or Iron Warrios getting some suits for testing first ? I remember something about that, as they didn't like it at all and said "Let the new guy (Ravenguard) test it" to make sure it failed. Only for the Ravenguard to make the mark VI get qualified for full production
Kayden Harris
I'm now picturing a bunch of gene-seeds dressed up like ganstas with the text "the body can't even handle us right now."
Brayden Rodriguez
>FW MkIc
Was it actually named the MkIc? That just throws the entire marking system right out the door.
>sometimes called MkV
As I remember, the Phobos has marks from III to XXVII. Where IIb fits into I don't know. Possible the IA fluff piece was made before the IIb or they imagine the IIb being different from the III-XXVII or something.
Quite frankly they just started the number so low and came up with so many new vehicles that they have trouble fitting them all in there. It's fucked and there's no fixing it without hard retcons left and right.
Brandon Cooper
Because shattered legions is a shit-tier army only made so players can join their differently painted small forces to play an actual game
Jason White
I guess the idea is that a primarch should be able to find enough of his sons to field a monolegion army. And balance issues.
There are two looks for the Phobos: the FW Mk IIB and the GW Mk III. The FW model adds resin parts to the GW plastic kit – I think it’s not only the old-school armored sponsons (same as those on the Armored Proteus) but also a different hull top. The Mk IIB is based on the 3rd edition Epic 40,000 Land Raider (let’s call that one Mk IIa), which was the first time we saw what would later be called the Phobos. In other words, the first time we saw a Land Raider with front doors.
You can use either one (one of the FW books has a GW plastic kit in a background photo) but the FW model does fit in better. Especially for Death Guard – I think the Mk III’s sponsons look too modern for them. But it’s an extra $22 if you’re in the US. forgeworld.co.uk/en-DE/MKIIB-Land-Raider
Owen Williams
Word Bearers won.
Colton Taylor
There's also , which lacks the hull gun, has MkI style wrap around tracks and the sponsons are separate from the side doors.
>I think the Mk III’s sponsons look too modern for them
Don't know why. Proteus, spartan, predator, sicaran, etc. all have sponsons that aren't in WW1 side turrets. I'm a little baffled at why we don't have Russ style sponsons on 30k Marine vehicles.
Alexander Gray
Mechanicum taghmata list should hold all the truths you desire
John Taylor
Yeah, that's Pert being all grumpy - he didn't feel the armour was up to scratch, wanting something more along the lines of a better Mk.III than the way Ml.VI improved on Mk.IV.
Given the Raven Guard were on his shit list after Gate 42, he felt that giving them the clearly inferior armour to test would mean that the design failed and his own ideas for Mk.VI would be picked up
Liam Russell
The choice is clear
Dominic Lewis
Thousand sons only recruited from prospero as aspirants would already have minor psychic training and basically guaranteed to be psykers whereas everywhere else it was a needle in a planet sized haystack, and more likely than not they can't control their emotions so in their angsty teenage phase become a daemon rift, or they're empathic psyker and even then only for humans. Although it's pretty much head canon when you think about how advanced they were in the disciplines, the fact they had their own forgeworld right next to them, they probably could have survived any siege xenos threw at them and the emperor himself would have defended the great psykers who would defeat any daemons if things went to plan. Along with guaranteed psychic sacrifices like the emperor does in 40k, as it was Magnus who was due to sit on the golden throne and keep the webway open so they wouldn't have to use the warp anymore
Carter Evans
>this fag again Also your eye of Horus looks more necron than anything and only alpha legion is allowed necron stuff Would you also accept unmarked chaos marine back packs ?
Hunter Lee
>Would you also accept unmarked chaos marine back packs ? fuck no
