"Ladies and gentlemen, it's been quite a while, but we'd like to welcome you all once again to the World Martial Arts Tournament!" a blonde man in sunglasses roars to the crowds. "And like last time, to start things off we have a special Junior Division!"

You look around as the crowds cheer, tail brushing against the ground. Your brother seems as amazed as you are with all the people here. There's just... so many. You look back towards the entrance area your mama and papa led you to. You tug a little at the good luck symbol your mama gave you on your wristbands and whisper softly, "Good luck, mama."

The blonde man tosses his microphone into the air and catches it, the crowds halting their cheering. "And it looks like we have some familiar faces in the audience, but also some new challengers! These lucky eight fighters have passed the entrance trials and made it to the Junior Division proper, so without any further delay, let's welcome..." The man leaps away so the crowds and cameras can get a proper view of you all. "...the returning Junior Champion and runner-up, Pantea Briefs and Videl Satan!"

You see the purple haired girl thrust her fist into the air triumphantly, while Videl bows to the crowds respectfully. She then turns to her friend with a confident smile, their mom's voices clear even among the cacophony of voices. "Better look out, Pantea, because you're not gonna be Champ again this time."

"Hehehe. Well, I might have some tricks up my sleeves, Videl. Don't count me out just yet."

"Next up are a pair of new competitors, but I'm sure you all will recognize them well, especially with the boy's hairdo matching his father's. Son Gohan, and Son Peppa!"

Your brother takes a shy but respectful bow himself, rubbing the back of his head and smiling bashfully.

You, on the other hand...

>A. Flashy entrance, like mama!
>B. Peppa gonna win da Tournament! Peppa the Tuffest! Raaaah!
>C. Be respectful, nod and bow
>D. Woah... so many people...
>E. Something else?

>B
Woohoo, Peppa time.

AH SHIT. WE'RE MAPLE 2.0!

lets do this!!

>POSE LIKE MAMA!
>But respectful bow like papa

Sounds good. Maybe be dazed for a second as well.

>B. Peppa gonna win da Tournament! Peppa the Tuffest! Raaaah!

You take a moment to let this all sink in... then raise your arms into the air, waving them around and shouting, "Peppa da Tuffest! Peppa gonna win da Tournament! RRAAAAAHH!" You then try to pose, like mama, but top it all off with a respectful bow and cheeky grin, like papa.

The crowds let out an audible "aww," and you can hear your cousin's voice giggling hysterically among them. Even Gohan seems to smile. You hear the man in glasses laugh a little too, commenting, "Definitely her parents' kid... a-anyway! A few more new faces have made it through to the Junior Division! Everyone, please welcome Skater Gator!"

You turn your head to the left, spotting an alligator kid in sunglasses and a cool outfit give a double thumbs-up and grin out an "eeeyyyy!" like someone from a show you think uncle Acer has watched.

"And the mysterious Devil Mask!"

You tilt your head further, spotting a... boy? girl? someone in a mask and red cape with hood. The kid seems to be a little older than you and Gohan... maybe Videl and Pantea's age?

"And..." The blonde man looks on his paper. "Smash... Lampjaw? Slab... Bulkhead? James... Veg... what the..."

A much older and buffer boy hangs his head. "David Ryder." he grumbles out. "Ugh, again with that prank?"

"Ah-eheh, r-right! And last but not least, Idasa!"

A blonde boy slightly older than you raises his arms above his head, one lady in the crowds cheering louder than anyone else for him. "Heh, I've been trained the best out of all of ya', don't go crying if I beat ya'."

"These eight contenders will face off in the Junior Division! We will now draw to see the matches." the man tells the crowds, two dog people walking forward with a box. Pantea goes first... and she draws the number 1! She tosses it into the air and smiles confidently. Videl draws next, getting number 5. Gohan goes, and gets number 3.

Your turn.

>A. Pick from the very bottom!
>B. Pick from the top!
>C. Pick from the middle!

>D close our eyes and grab one! let fate decide!

This

>B. Pick from the top!
Because we're the best.

This. But try not to grab air.

You close your eyes and grab around in the box, letting luck decide. And you get... number 2! You dance around cheerfully, hopping on your tail, and tossing the ball into the air. The blonde man watches carefully and catches it as it falls back down, surprising you a little. He smiles and announces to the crowds, "Son Peppa will be number 2!"

You skip over to your brother. "Numba seven! Numba seven, numba seven, numba seven~"

The rest of the contenders follow through, picking their numbers. Devil Mask is 7. Skater Gator is 4. The older boy is 8. And the blonde boy is 6. "All right folks, the matches have been set!"

"The first match is Pantea Vs. Peppa!"

Your friend adjusts her glasses confidently, telling you, "Well, it might be a bit of bad luck this time, Peppa, since you're facing the junior champ, but I hope we have a fun match!"

You grin wide and nod.

"Next is Gohan Vs. Skater Gator!"

The reptile looks to your brother. "Ey kid. Good luck, you'll need it."

"Thank you mister!"

"Third match, Videl Vs. Idasa!"

The blonde boy laughs. "Don't think I'll go easy on you just 'cause you're a girl! With cooties!"

Videl seems a little annoyed by that, sighing.

"And last but not least, Devil Mask Vs. Splint... er, David Ryder!"

The boy hangs his head again, though the other kid seems almost uninterested by this. You also notice whoever this is seems to be wearing... a red leotard under their clothes, maybe?

"All right folks, the first round will begin shortly!"

The other kids clear out of the ring, just leaving you and Pantea left in there with the blonde man. Your friend readies herself. "All right, Peppa, let's give them a good show!"

>A. Take your stance and be ready to fight. This is serious time!
>B. Why?
>C. PEPPA GONNA WIN! RAAAAHH!
>D. Something else?

>D. Something else?
Sense her ki! SENSE IT!

>A. Take your stance and be ready to fight. This is serious time!
Remember our training!

>D. Fistbump and "don't we always do that?" then A

These

>A. Take your stance and be ready to fight. This is serious time!

You tap your fist with your friend's. "Like always?"

"Like always." she says, nodding.

You then ready yourself. Okay Peppa, serious time! No holding back, even if she is your friend.

"Well well, seems these fighters are ready! The Junior Division first Round starts NOW!"

All right, now, to make sure everyone is on the same page, here's the dice system that will be used for this special:

System is now based on a d10, best of three situation, but there can be multiple actions taken per turn, up to five (maximum of 3 rolls of 5d10). More actions mean higher DC, but better payoff. Actions include dodging and blocking; it's recommended to pay attention to enemy movements to know when to best attack and counterattack. Critical (10) on attack options means double-damage, defense options means enemy knocked off-guard. DC is also influenced by what enemies you are facing.

Stronger foes have naturally higher DC than weaker ones, and vice versa. With that all said...

>A. JAN! KEN!
>B. Rasenken!
>C. Dash at her, face her head-on!
>D. Defend!
>E. Afterimage!
>F. Geist Magnum!
>G. Kamehameha!
>H. Something else?

>Dice

Got it boss.

>A.
>C.
>E.

>H. Remove her glasses for the fight, of course.

>H. Do our strongest attack right from the get-go.

>C. Dash at her, face her head-on!
>H. Charge energy in preparation for an energy attack soon.

This

>A. JAN! KEN! PAA PAA PAA PAA PAA PAA PAA PAA PAA PAA PAA PAA PAA, SHIN PAAAAA!!!

Okay, roll me 4d10, best of three. DC is 6 for all.

Rolled 5, 1, 8, 5 = 19 (4d10)

Rolled 7, 4, 8, 6 = 25 (4d10)

Rolled 3, 3, 5, 8 = 19 (4d10)

Rolled 6, 1, 6, 4 = 17 (4d10)

All righty then, writing...

...

You dash at Pantea, letting out a cry of "JAN! KEN!" The first two blows of Rock and Scissors she blocks, but you manage to get her in the gut with a palm strike of Paper. She moves back, and you chase after her, keeping up your attack... only for her to counter easily, catching your arm and giving you a chop to your gut in return, kicking you away.

As she tries to go after you, though, you manage to leave an afterimage, causing her to kick the ground, leaving a small crack on the tiles. A short distance away from her, you cup your hands, ready to use your best attack. "Kaaaa..."

>A. Follow through, Kamehameha!
>B. Feint it! Wait for her to dodge and then try a different attack!
>C. Try to fly at her with it, fire up close!
>D. Something else?

>A

>D. "...annon Ball!"
Vertically Beyblade ourself towards her with the Kamehameha

>A. Follow through, Kamehameha!

And if we make contact, we use our momentum to climb atop her, grab her by the shirt, and then throw her out of the ring. If we don't make contact, we kick the ground to propel ourselves up in the air, and unleash the rest of the kamehameha on the ring.

>D. Something else?
After Image Kamehameha!

All right, 2d10, best of three. DC is 6 for both.

Rolled 3, 1 = 4 (2d10)

Rolled 9, 8 = 17 (2d10)

Rolled 1, 8 = 9 (2d10)

DOUBLE ONES!

Very interesting! Writing...

I feel like this new system is very 1 oriented.

no 10s so far.

Go small or go home.

Twice as likely in every roll, and there are more rolls.

"Meeee..." you continue. Pantea notices, but then you turn away from her. You've got a plan. "Ha! Me! HAAA!" You fire away and try to spin with it, launching yourself at her and trying to glance her with the Kamehameha as you spiral forward. You manage a direct hit with the beam, but she seems to have defended just in time, and while you get up close, she's able to counter. With a snap of her fingers, EVERYTHING looks like it's on fire... but in spite of that, you collide into her, headbutting Pantea down.

You then use the spiraling to quickly make sure the fire's out, rolling on the floor, then quickly blowing out the last few embers on your tail. Ow, ow, ow! Hot, ow! You both look like you've taken some damage, but Pantea seems like she's had more than you. She pants, then flies up, arms spread out, then her fingers making gun shapes. You... can sense a lot of Ki building up there. She brings them both forward. That might hurt a lot if it hits!

>A. Afterimage! DOOOOODGE!
>B. Block it as best you can!
>C. Counter! Kamehameha!
>D. Fly up at her, punch her to the ground!
>E. Something else?

>E. Throw tile at her

>E. Something else?
Let her fire her attack. Then...

After-image above her and then geist magnum her out of bounds.

>A. Afterimage! DOOOOODGE!
>D. Fly up at her, punch her to the ground!
Dance and sting.

This!

>E. Start spinning in that dance Chuu Lee taught you

Supporting

>E. Throw ki-charged shoe-rikens at her beams to throw them off course.

This

Backing

If we're going this route, can we use the

>Rasenken
A Wind-boosted corkscrew punch, can launch an opponent away

Okay, 2d10, best of three! DC is 5 for both!

And then we should leave an afterimage of ourselves on the ring floor, but secretly conceal ourselves under the tile we've thrown.

Rolled 6, 1 = 7 (2d10)

rolling!

Rolled 5, 4 = 9 (2d10)

LETS FUCKIN' DO THIS!

DOUBLE TENS, C'MON LIAM!

Rolled 3, 6 = 9 (2d10)

Woo!

Rolled 5, 3 = 8 (2d10)

Nice! Writing...

"Better watch out, Peppa! This one helped take down a space monster!" she warns. You make it look like you'll stand your ground. Only got one shot with this! "ZERO BUSTER!"

As the beam blasts down, you can sense something a little off about it. It... should be stronger, shouldn't it? Well, no time like the present! You leave an afterimage and start flying up, as fast as you can, and get behind her. You build up power into your fist, Wind Magic spiraling around it. However, Pantea seems to have caught your trick, stopping the attack and spinning around to kick you in the side. While that hurts, it's too late.

"RASENKEN!" you roar, punching the purple-haired girl in the gut with a corkscrew punch, the spiraling energy wind forcing her down to the ground.

"What an amazing display! In spite of it being the first round, our former Junior Champion Pantea has been knocked out of bounds! Son Peppa advances!"

You pant heavily, starting to float down to the small crater your friend made when she landed. She seems more... shocked, than hurt, but she laughs a little as she sees you. "Eheh. Well... crap. That was embarrassing." She tries to push herself up. "Good... good match, Peppa."

>A. Help her up and tell her "good match"
>B. Yaaaaay! Peppa win! Run around triumphantly!
>C. Peppa gonna nap now, need rest... ow...
>D. Something else?

>A. Help her up and tell her "good match"

>D. Something else?
"Why'd you hold back? I could feel it! Did you go easy on me?"

Only in...Peppa-nese. I can't do children dialogue very well.

This.

>A

But

You grab her arm and help her up, grinning wide. "Good match!"

"Aww, what a good sport, folks! Let's give these two girls a round of applause!"

You walk with her as the crowds cheer, tail swaying behind you... but then it pokes your friend in the leg. "Pantea, why you hold back?"

"P-pardon?" she exclaims.

"That blast wasn't as strong." you note, poking her leg with your tail again.

"Oh, that's what you... eheh, well, was actually a bit of a gamble on my part." she starts, rubbing the back of her neck. "I figured you were gonna try to dodge it, so I didn't put too much energy into that attack. It'd let me counter if you tried something... just looks like you got your attack off before I could follow through."

"Ohhhh." you reply, tilting your head curiously. That makes sense.

"That, and you didn't want to hurt her too badly, did you?" Videl questions, an accusatory look on her face.

"H-hey! I took that match seriously! Really!" Pantea retorts.

"Next up, Gohan Vs. Skater Gator!"

Your brother walks past you, smiling and waving. "Good job sis! See you soon!"

The alligator kid walks with him, letting out a snort. Pantea and Videl start talking together, while Idasa and the Devil Mask kid stand in opposite corners of the room. You notice there's something... different, about the other kid. They smell kinda funny.

>A. Watch your brother's match
>B. Stay with Pantea and Videl
>C. You smell funny, Spooky Mask!
>D. Peppa hungry...
>E. Something else?

>E. Something else?
Start making social links with everyone!

Devil Mask is Beelz, isn't it?

>Scandal! Demon Prince caught ignoring duties, enters WMAT in disguise!

Well it can't be Ackman. He's off having adventures with Slug Jr.

>A. Watch your brother's match
>D. Peppa hungry...

>D. You shouldn't fight with glasses on

>She fights better without them on

>C. You smell funny, Spooky Mask!
> It reminds you of when Mama would play Peek-A-Boo with you and Gohan

You start to meander around the room, saying "Hi" to everyone there, from Tournamet staff to the other contenders. The younger blonde boy seems a little weirded out by that, but attempts to ignore it, while the older blonde boy just laughs and pats you on the head. You get to Pantea and Videl, the girls discussing having a rematch outside the Tournament, though Videl seems confident she'll win the Junior Division now. Then you get to Devil Mask, first saying "Hi," then telling the kid, "You smell funny, Spooky Mask! And remind me of when mama sometimes makes funny, spooky faces when me and Gohan play peek-a-boo with her!"

The kid seems a little... agitated by that, Pantea and Videl quickly hurrying you away. "Peppa, that's not a nice thing to say." the black-haired girl tells you strictly.

You then immediately wave to Devil Mask and give them a loud "Sorry!" The girls have you focus on your brother's match, which... doesn't take long. You see the Skater Gator kid trying to swipe at Gohan with his tail, and then follow it up with... huh, a Ki blast! From his mouth! Aaaand Gohan grabs his tail and throws him out of bounds.

"Skater Gator is out of bounds! Gohan advances!" the Announcer guy declares, your brother getting the kid's glasses and handing them to him.

You then turn to Pantea. "Maybe glasses bad idea in Tournament. They could break!"

She laughs at that. "I'm fine with them, they're a lot more durable than they look. Besides, mom says they look cute on me."

(cont.)

Gohan and the alligator head back in, the gator kid giving another double thumbs-up and going "Eyyy, you're all right kid, hope you go far in this. Some time, maybe you should try the skate park. Betcha you'd do great on the board, like Big Green."

"Whatsa 'Big Green?'" Gohan questions.

The gator pushes his sunglasses down slightly. "The current Skate Champ. He's in the adult division at this Tournament."

Waaaait a second. Big... green...

"Next match, Videl Vs. Grist- ...who keeps doing that? Uh, David Ryder!"

>A. You talkin' 'bout Mister Piccolo?
>B. Watch Videl's match
>C. Go back to Devil Mask, you didn't mean to be mean, but they do smell funny
>D. Something else?

>D. So hungry, ask Gator if can be your lunch later

>A. You talkin' 'bout Mister Piccolo?

>D. Ask for his tail to eat, it'll grow back

>B. Watch Videl's match

>A. You talkin' 'bout Mister Piccolo?

Backing

"You talkin' 'bout Mista Piccolo?" you ask, tilting your head at the alligator kid.

"That's the one. Skate Champ Big Green."

Aaaaand your stomach starts to growl. Soooo hungry. "Mista Gator, can I have your tail for lunch? It'll grow back, right?"

"Peppa no!" Pantea shouts.

While she and your brother expect the alligator kid to be offended by that, he... kinda rolls with it. "Depends. Does yours grow back?"

...you don't quite know. You recall something papa told you about the meanie-butt Veggies, but can yours do that too? You give your tail a tug aaaaand immediately regret that. "OW OW OW!"

"And that's why you don't do that, kid." Skater Gator responds, walking off. "See ya!"

Pantea sighs in relief. "You don't just ask to eat parts of people for lunch, Peppa."

"But I'm huuuungry." you grumble, rubbing your tummy.

You spot your brother heading off on his own, and then hear a shout of "HAWK ARROW!" in the Ring. You scurry over to the window and spot Videl take her opponent out of bounds.

"And Videl advances to the next round!"

You see her help the boy up, then walk back to you all. "Well, Peppa, Gohan, looks like I'll be seeing one of you in the finals-" She looks around. "...where'd Gohan go?"

>A. Iunno. Sense for him?
>B. Maybe he was hungry too?
>C. How you know you'll be in finals?
>D. Something else?

>B. Maybe he was hungry too?
>A. Sense for him?

>B
>Skate Champ Piccolo teaching kids about Ki
I love it.

>A. Iunno. Sense for him?
>B. Maybe he was hungry too?

This intermission stuff with gag characters is boring, let's play as Gohan some time, eh?

I like it

I just don't see why we have to watch Gohan's matches in one of those brief soulless summaries when we could be playing through it.

I don't see how that match would have been all that fun to play through.

Because then we could have been like "Later Gator" as we

Eh, doesn't really seem like a challenge though.

Ah, I see you enjoy challenges of the "Go around and say hi to everyone while your brother gets ready to fight" variety.

So we instead have a one move match against a nobody?

Yeah, showing off just how Gohan is, we haven't had a match like that since... never. We never get an easy fight no matter how hard we train, what the fuck!?

As opposed to watching Peppa's much more interesting fight against Pantea in a brief "soulless" summary and then playing through a fight against a gag character that presents no challenge? I'll stick with best daughteru, thanks.

>showing off just how gud Gohan's gotten from a player standpoint*
