Dragonball Quest #102

The Ox King charges at you in a slow, lumbering matter, his massive ax hefted high above his head as he prepares to strike you with it.

But, with his speed, he never gets the chance, as you take him out before he can even fully register that you've moved. Your foot slams into his face, knocking him onto his back and out cold.

You look around for any sign of Yajirobe, but can't find him. Odds are he ran and hid. So, all in all, this little exercise has probably been a pretty accurate representation of what the Saiyans will be like.

Okay, you've taught them just how serious this coming fight is. Popo will cover the training you and Goku were given prior to the tournament.

What should be your next order of business.

>A. Find out what Roshi and Shen were arguing about by asking Roshi about it

>D. Try to develop a new technique (specify, and I will assign a roll) Note: working on techniques takes time from regular training, which could hurt your overall strength

You, you seem to have missed the specify part of that, user

First lewd

I'd say all our techniques are pretty solid already.

Unless you guys wanna work on amplifying our body with ki energy, and seeing how long we can stay in a powered up state.
(this should increase Ki endurance, and our overall strength)

i figured the new technique vote would have to pass first, like with rolls.

That's not a bad idea, really

I'd say do it. Our ki endurance is lacking, and if we focus on trying to stay ki-buffed as long as possible, we should level up:
Overall strength (from the ki boost)
Ki endurance
Ki control

I don't expect us to get perfect SSJ Goku levels, but even if we can only maintain a 10% boost, that's still a good 10% boost.

Plus it'll make learning the Kaioken much easier when we die.

The poor man's kaioken, this is what i wanted to do last time.
Or if we can make it permanant, it'd be a human version of a relaxed super saiyan state.

>D add piercing to ligthning punc

I'd fight her, with my dick.

I only really want Hellzone Grenade (with a different name of our choosing)
So training to be at "full power" and sustaining it unlike a certain villain

>E. Find Yajirobe
>F. Piledrive him into the Sacred Land of Korin

It wouldn't be a Kaio-Ken, per say, but it would allow you to get short term powerups.

And learn the Kaio-Ken more easily

"Poor man's"

More like 100% Freeza, but sustainable?

How hard would a fire punch be

Not infinitely sustainable, but far moreso than he was where he ran out of power in like two minutes

Don't forget to add this thread to the archive Som

Okay, so you guys want to practice ki amplification?

59

Rolled 72 (1d100)

I want to practice it hard.

Rolled 2 (1d100)

>59
2ez, I got this

Rolled 81 (1d100)

Sure slow down tiger

Thats sounds like a good investment, then. As long as we're not sacrificing speed for that.

Could we wish/have Bulma science us to be able to incorporate other beings into our biomass to attain some form of "flawlessness" at some point?

Cell, please

Your saga will come

If they survive Namek

And the Saiyans

And if it does, it might be the last

we saw.

I'm still sad Som said we might not get Perfect Cell

Sure, why not? Then we can train everyone with a game of dodgeball. Yajirobe is the ball.

But no Perfect Cell you said. So why not Flawless Tofoo?

There MIGHT be Perfect Cell, but with Lapis and Lazuli not Gero'd, he will be a somewhat different creature

I just assume it would have been 16 plus Tao. But knowing you, you would say I am making a lot of assumptions.

Wonder who he'll cyborginate. New OCs? Or will he show up with Android Cyborg Tao, Android Kochin, and Android Mecha Wheelo?

That's hardly the worst thing I've done though. That'd still be killing Tofoo.

*absolves you of guilt* be free my son

>dodgeball
>not the vastly superior patty cake
Tofoo is the current, reigning, defending, undisputed World Heavweight Patty Cake Champion.

Post yfw
>It's just Android 16 with Cell's hat for a braincase.

The lesson taught, you go on to your own training while Popo begins to teach the others.

For the next several months, you focus on something a bit different. Many years ago, while under the training of Mr. Popo and Kami, you learned how to amplify your base power in short and intense bursts. Now, you use that pretty much every time you attack, giving your strikes that extra kick. Goku and Piccolo are both familiar with that way of fighting, judging by your battles with them, but you want to take it one step further.

When you first learned to magnify your power, it increased all of your strength rapidly, but burnt you out almost immediately. With some training, you're pretty sure you could learn to use a longer-lasting, but less intense version of that power up.

As you work on that, the others train diligently, each of them progressing quite quickly. Krillin and Chichi spend most of their time training together, their teaching of Konattsu initially hampering their progress, until Popo offered to oversee the girl's training.

Since then, they've greatly improved.

Tenshinhan and Yamcha have trained harder than just about everyone, fighting one another day in and day out. You think there's some tension between the two of them, probably due to Yamcha deciding to learn from Roshi, but they seem to have no problem working as allies.

Roshi and Shen, on the other hand, are constantly at one-another's throats. They've both improved greatly, but you feel that if they would work together, they'd probably be far more formidable.

Chaozu has progressed fast, though you notice he still mostly relies on his psychic powers, and that his raw strength is below Tenshinhan and Yamcha.

Yajirobe, when you can get him to train, fights pretty well. There's nothing elegant about how he battles; it's dirty and effective. Given the battle that's coming, that may be exactly what you need.

Ox King fell off the lookout and went home.

RIP Upa and Bora then.

Goku and Kori have been training hard. Your friend taught her the basics, and she picked up on Popo's lessons very quickly. She's a little prodigy, which is a huge relief.

However, Goku did seem to end up going a bit soft on her. Not nearly as much as you feared, but he was pulling punches, and Popo noticed as well. Kami's assistant has taken over Kori's training, leaving Goku free to train himself.

Ox King has had the most trouble. He's learning, but much more slowly than the others. As it turns out, the big ox never even mastered the Kamehameha Wave. He's very much about strength, and lacks some of the finer technique and finesse the others posses.

Konattsu is learning well alongside Kori, but Goku's child seems to be surpassing her fairly readily. Still, Konattsu is very impressive for one so young, stronger than you were when you were three times her age.

You all just might have a chance.

Speaking of Black, Zamasu probably just used his time ring to repeatedly gather the Super Dragonballs. And Beerus killing present Zamasu probably didn't help in Future Zamasu becoming redpilled.

Shen and Roshi's constant fighting is going to be the death of everyone if it keeps up as it is. After a day of training in which the two continuously sabotaged one another, you've had enough, and track down Roshi when it's done.

"What is it, Tofoo?" Roshi asks irritably, looking up from one of his magazines. "Can't you see I'm reading here?"

"At this rate, you and Shen are going to get everyone killed," you warn Roshi.

"It's his fault!" the Turtle Hermit declares, throwing his magazine to the side. "Getting him involved in this was a mistake, Tofoo!"

"Why do you two hate each other so much?" you demand. "You were arguing about something the day you got here. You kept mentioning a girl, and that something was destroyed. What happened?"

"You aren't going to let this go, are you?" Roshi asks, sounding irritated. "Fine. A long time ago, there was a girl named Fanfan. She was the most beautiful woman in the village where Shen and I trained. When we were young, Shen and I both had the hots for her, but since I was the studliest man around, she only had eyes for me. After King Piccolo, I'd hoped to settle into a quiet life. I returned to what was left of the village and married her. But, as so often happens with people, the two of us began to grow old. We both knew that death was fast approaching us. That's when I learned from a wise master the location of the legendary Fountain of Youth. I didn't really believe the legends, but it seemed like the only chance Fanfan and I had to keep on living. She was too weak to make the trip, so I set out on my own."

Roshi frowns bitterly. "Unfortunately, Mercenary Tao took a job killing the man who had told me of the fountain, and learned of the location through him. At this time, Shen was also nearing the end of his life. The two brothers of the Crane School decided to band together and seize the gift of unending life for themselves. When I learned of this, I decided to try and stop them. We reached the fountain around the same time, with Shen and Tao arriving just after I'd taken a few sips for myself. I tried to prevent them from drinking, but they overpowered me, and as a petty act against me, they destroyed the fountain, leaving me with no water to bring back to Fanfan."

>Continued

Throw in a "Your age means nothing when you both act like children!"

Roshi lets out a sorrowful sigh. "I returned home to Fanfan and cared for her as best I could, but she died not long after. Without her, I was alone, and although the fountain had kept me from dying, I still held the appearance of an old man. So, I went into solitude, growing stronger in martial arts and eventually training students such as Gohan and Ox King."

Skip talking to Shen, use the Pendulum Room to go back in time and see what actually happened.

>A.

We really have no reason to doubt him on this. Shen has been nothing but terrible to us and everyone we care about. So I say we apologize to Roshi, show some sympathy, then ask that he try to put this aside at least until the Saiyans are dealt with. Roshi is a bro.

This

Neat idea

Trust but verify

changing my vote to support

I'll support it if it's quick, if not just talk to Shen

And take a drink when we're at it

What you do back there effects nothing, so drinking the water would be pointless

Observe, not interfere

Can we blow up the planet for shits and giggles?

Oh shit, yes.
We wouldn't be immortal, but we'd be ageless.
Works for me, and som doesn't have any reason to bullshit it because it doesn't make us more powerful.

Pretty sure shit you do in the Pendulum Room doesn't actually have an effect on you for real.

Someone did not get the point of Roshi's story

Eh I don't care about Bulma either way

Roshi was already old, it's not like he's getting older. The point of the story is to destroy your friends before they turn on you.

I meant the part about living forever without the person he loved

This story would explain a lot. But, given how these two feel about one another, you can't help but feel it may be a bit biased. Of course, there is a way to find out the truth.

Thanking Roshi for explaining things to you, you leave him to his "reading" and make your way to the strange time room you used during your training here years ago.

It looks different from how you remember; clocks no longer cover the walls, and it's far bigger. A giant pendulum swings back and forth over a large circle in the center of the room.

Strolling forward, you step into the circle, closing your eyes and thinking of what you want to see. There's a flash of green light, and you open your eyes to find yourself in what seems to be a cave lit by torches.

At the back of the cave, you spot what must be the Fountain of Youth. Its waters are gorgeous and clear, and just looking at them makes you feel more energized.

The sounds of movement get your attention, and you suppress your power, running to hide behind a rock. As you peak out, you see a man who can only be Master Roshi stumble into the cave, struggling to catch his breath.

His face lights up when he sees the water in front of him. "THAT'S IT! IT'S REALLY IT!"

He rushes forward, cupping his hands in the water and bringing it to his lips. As he gulps down the water, you hear footsteps. Roshi glances over his shoulder, his expression getting serious as he hides behind another large rock.

Mercenary Tao, looking as he was the day you met him, and the Crane Hermit step into the cave, their eyes widening when they see the fountain before them.

"That's...really it!" Shen gasps, wonder in his voice. "I didn't really believe it, but...."

"Yes, it seems that old fool told me the truth," Tao muses. "I almost feel bad for killing him."

"Yes, when he did us such a service, I can't help but feel a twinge of regret as well," Shen admits. "But, what's done cannot be undone."

He's dead Jim

>It works on multiverse theory, we're traveling to other worlds.
That's not how the DB Multiverse works. I'm pretty sure the Pendulum Room is more of a mental thing.

That's what kami told us the first time we used it in thread.

"Well, no sense dwelling on it, then," Tao tells his brother. "Shall we test the waters?"

"Yes," Shen says eagerly, new life in his voice.

The two of them approach the fountain, staring down at the waters. As they lower their hands to cup some water for themselves, Roshi emerges from his hiding space.

"Shen!" he shouts, drawing the attention of the two brothers.

Tao keeps his composure, but there is very real shock on Shen's face when he sees his former friend.

"Roshi?" he asks in disbelief. "How did you find this place?"

"The same way you did, Crane," Roshi answers.

"That old weakling?" Tao asks. "Well, it seems somewhat got a head start yet still ended up getting here late."

"Slow as a turtle," Shen chuckles. "If you've come for a drink, old friend, then you'll have to wait your turn. Tao and I did get here first, after all."

"You and Tao aren't getting any of that water!" Roshi declares. "Evil like yours can't be allowed to endure. You need to accept your mortality, Shen."

The Crane Hermit scowls. "And what, you came all this way just to stop me from drinking? Please, you learned about this fountain before we did, you said so yourself. Don't act like this is some noble crusade, Roshi, you're trying to cheat death just as we are."

"Well, you two won't succeed," Roshi declares, cupping his hands at this side. "Ka.....me....."

"DODON RAY!" Tao shouts, firing a beam of light at Roshi.

The old man nimbly dodges, but Shen holds a finger up toward him.

"DODONPA!" he shouts, firing a more powerful blast from his fingers.

This time, the attack strikes Roshi, and the Turtle Hermit falls to the ground.

>Continued

>roshi essentially tried to kill shen by preventing him from drinking
dude not cool, even if he's a dick, people can change.

Tao turns and scoops some water from the fountain, bringing it to his lips and sipping it down. Shen does the same before glaring at the fallen Roshi.

The Crane Hermit's anger is great, and you can tell it's at more than just this interference. Although these two fighters went their separate ways some time ago, Shen seems to feel quite betrayed by what Roshi just tried to do.

"You stupid geezer," he spits. "This is the LAST time you will stick your nose in my business."

As Crane looks toward the fountain, Roshi raises his head.

"No, Shen, you can't!" he tells his friend.

"Watch me," Crane tells him. "Tao, stand back."

The mercenary raises a brow, but does as his older brother has instructed.

Crane hovers off the ground, rising toward the ceiling of the cave before raising his hands and forming a diamond with his fingers.

"KIKOHO!"

There's a flash of light, and a great blast, then, the fountain is no more.

Another flash of green light returns you to the Lookout.
