So, I need help. I'm an unoriginal bastard and painting my Hassassin up in Assassin's Creed colours, but I'm not sure what to do with my Asawira and other heavy infantry. The white robes and such works for the Hassassin miniatures, but I'm not sure how to paint up more heavily armoured figures to fit the theme.
Josiah Gray
How about an off-white, sandy colored armor with umber detailing?
Tyler Moore
Tell me examples of Lt Options who are specialists, not counting Chain of Command models who become Lt or people who were nominated Lt in the middle of the game.
Kevin Hughes
There are a bunch, but off the top of my head:
Macheon Anathematic Hacker De Fersen Barid
Mason Ramirez
Oh, just remembered Custodier too
Blake Evans
tunguska interventors too
Jeremiah Parker
Asura Hacker
Julian James
Sukeul, Nexus operatives and charontid. I think we've gone through all of them?
Jace Williams
De Fersen Barids Interventors Custodiers Kusanagi Nexus Operatives (except the spitfire) Anathematic hacker Charontid hacker Asura hacker Machaon Sukeul
I think that's all of them.
Ethan Davis
kusinagi has a spec op version now
Parker Cook
So I'm building a small Aleph force for some 150 point learning games with some other new players, does this sound alright? I'll be playing against either Qapu oriented Haqqislam, or Onyx Contact oriented CA.
Other things I have to work with, is Ajax, Penthesila, Support Pack, Sync Deva unit, Dasyus, Naga, Asura, Posthumans, Teucer and an Ekdromos
William Lopez
Just have them be their normal Haqqislam colors. Asawira hate being lumped in with silly assassins, and are just there because they need to watch the watchmen.
Evan Richardson
I think Thorak are better for new players, ODD is pretty brutal at low point levels. Just proxy for them.
Jacob Mitchell
I was considering that, but I worried it might conflict with the rest of the army. That little fluff relationship between the two did rather amuse me though.
Now that could actually look pretty awesome. I'm currently playing with ideas atm, so all suggestions help.
Luis Morris
>it might conflict with the rest of the army
The asawira would want it that way.
Angel Perry
Well, I switched over to ASS for the AVA6 on Thorks, but can't think of what else to fill my last 24 points with, got Atalanta, Nesaie, 2 Thoras with Combis, 2 FO's and 2 Netrods. The group has no problems with proxies, since we're all new, but I'd like to keep everything in the same unit at least with the same model, which mean I can run up to 4 of anything, really. And yes, my waifu is Nesaie.
Caleb Cox
Scots Gaurd should have one, but Caledonia can't have nice things, they only get obvious LTs.
Jace Hernandez
And now I'm picturing a tsundere Asawira. Goddamnit Veeky Forums.
Michael White
Don't use netrods for a teaching game.
Use your remaining 32 points to upgrade a Thorak to Ajax and give another one a LRL.
Ajax is great for teaching games because he is so straightforward and a cool model.
Robert Kelly
Wallace should be your Lt 100% of the time.
Dominic Morales
"Sir, we are being attacked by an unknown force clad in white and red."
"WE'RE HAQQISLAM YOU DIRTY KAFFIR! DO YOU SEE THIS GREEN? HAQQISLAAAAAAMMMM!"
Bentley Walker
Would be a good excuse to get used to impetuous troops, good idea bro. Already used my SWC on Nesaie and Atalanta though. Wound up with this;
"Now a yelling man in green has starting running towards us. It's possible that this could be some new Ariadnan strike force."
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!1!!"
Jeremiah Young
That looks good.
Xavier Green
The shirts suck. I called it.
The one with all the factions on it is the most ok though.
Gabriel Thompson
How many staff does CB have?
Christian Cooper
Damnit, now I need to figure out how to make it obvious that my Asawira are perpetually pissed.
Jayden Moore
Veeky Forums's got you covered user.
Wyatt Wood
Dare I create the Angry Asawira? Is that a thing that should happen?
Cooper Miller
Do it you fuck. It would contrast terribly with AC assassins, and that's wonderful.
Gabriel Bennett
>Is that a thing that should happen? No, but do it anyway.
Ryder Diaz
Those look awesome.
Tyler Gomez
DO IT
Jaxson Phillips
Those look awesome. Hopefully they have an easy way to get them in the states.
Daniel King
Damn when user said there were shirts with all the factions on them, I thought he meant one faction per shirt, not all factions on one shirt. Fug.
Nicholas Torres
They're is nothing more satisfying than double tapping a fiday in the back of the head after discovering the fucker with an Intruder
Just felt like sharing
Carson Davis
Now where have I seen that helmet before...
Chase Hall
Anyone have a podcasts they'd recommend? I've listened to personal flash paper and mayacast and was wondering if there were more out there.
Eli Mitchell
Now, you see, that is obviously a skull where the ORC is obviously a Goblin or fantastic creature with pointy ears.
Blake Howard
>When you go out of your way to make a surprise attack with an Oniwaban against William Wallace near a couple of Galwegians because you figured that he was the Lt with inspiring Leadership. >You kill each other in glorious reckless combat, bypassing NWI because of your Monofilament sword. >Then you remember you're facing Vanilla Ariadna and that Wallace wasn't the Lt at all.
I feel like I was duped, but it was my own fault. Why take Wallace in Vanilla?
Brayden Garcia
Do you think Blackjacks would have a separate model for the "Battle ravaged" state?
Isaac Cox
It's possible. I'd LOVE to see the box being two models, one trashed and one not. In Edge of Tomorrow style plating.
Jace Cooper
You mean...
Mason White
When your TO mispronounces "Aleph," (as Ay-leff) do you bother trying to correct them? I didn't. Sort of regret it.
Cameron Diaz
>regular blackjack is bulky af, tag-like, twice as badass as AzraIl >ravaged without a helmet showing qt tomboy inside
pls do
Aiden Watson
Is that not correct? Or should it be more like El-eff?
Caleb Jackson
Ah-leff or Ay-leff both seem fine to me.
Jaxson Torres
It's a long A like "Alphabet" not "Ayylfabet" because it's the letter.
Logan Smith
>MIrage V >"le muet" >loup-garou Fucking ouiaboos.
Justin Sullivan
I heard someone else say this was wrong so this time I googled it and sure enough I was saying it wrong.
Ian Adams
I was chatting with Bostria at NOVA, he was wearing the all factions one, and I complimented his shirt. He asked me what my shirt size was. XL of course, the standard male Adonis shirt size He said he didn't have it, unfortunately. I wasn't sure if he meant he had a few extra shirts in his room, or if he would have just given me the shirt off his back. Either possibility would have been amazing. The shirts look good and Bostria is good people, are my main points.
Nathan Morris
When in doubt pronounce everything in a heavy Espanish accent. Everything Tohaa (when you figure out the dipthongs) Greek, Combined suddenly clicks at that point. At that point, all you have to do is memorize how to say Qapu Khalqi and resign yourself to never knowing the truly glory of mastering the Chinese tritones.
Brayden Davis
>Try for a long time to properly pronounce Chinese friends name > "It's cool. I go by Perry for a reason. I get that you can't even heard the difference between what you're saying and the right way"
Brayden Watson
I've resigned myself to pronouncing everything wrong because my attempts at saying them the correct way will inevitably be just as bad.
Weebs get pretty upset when I ask them what weapons their obiwans are carrying.
Aaron Johnson
Weeb here, nippon is actually pretty easy to pronounce. Once you learn the 5 vowels just pair them with a consonant and your good for most of it. Only weird common ones is their R/L can be hard on people and Tsu.
Anyone know any sources of good quality third party sets of tokens? I've found a few but they all seem really expensive for what they are.
I know you can just print 'em, but I like accessories that add to the gaming experience in small, tangible ways like that.
Jordan Ortiz
A couple of my friends use different color plastic beads for everything.
Aiden Howard
I actually did my Hassassins in the red and white scheme as well; it's worth noting that the Assassin's Creed scheme corresponds with historical accounts (many admittedly dubious or written ex-post-facto) that would refer to the Nizari Fedayeem wearing predominantly white outfits that then received red-dyed elements after assassinations to symbolize that they had been 'blooded' and their purity could never be un-sullied again.
Although this is mostly an extrapolation by later historical fiction writers like Bartol, it stands to reason that the highest ranking members would have predominantly red outfits with very little white, so I did my Asawira in red with white accents.
Andrew Bell
That's actually really interesting. I'll have to do some of my own research on that, but thanks for letting me know!
Ayden Perez
Why does release pattern make no sense in infinity? I come from warmahordes where everything is autistically complete. Each faction has a set of accessories, paints, starters, books and whatnot. Corvus just randomly gives out minis, resculpts, the odd terrain piece and no accessories. The rules are free but pretty daunting because lists dont build themselves. I love it but at the same time am very confused.
William Flores
I drybrushed a white skull onto my Asawira. He looks grumpy. Like the badguy from that show that the Archer crew did on Adult Swim forever ago.
Caleb Brooks
what the fuck even is a hsien
Michael Morris
...
Austin Scott
Dat's not a 'umie skull, dat a propa' ORK face ya gits! Dat is so cause dem blue boys got most dakka!
Jordan Long
Don't ask me. I made a database of like 99% of the releases and I still don't know.
Thomas Carter
One of my friends constantly calls his Obi-Wan as well. Which is weird, Oniwaban isn't even that complicated of a word. It's just as easy as Acontecimento or Skovorodino. We're Polish by the way.
Henry Watson
>Why does release pattern make no sense in infinity? They saw GW frustrating SoB and Bretonnia fans and they wanted in on it, but with every faction. Tohaa and vedic ALEPH in particular, although you can find a whiny USAriadnan here and there (the marauder box seems to have shut them up).
Isaac Cox
>vedic ALEPH
I've never heard of such a faction.
Adrian Martinez
That's what some people call the non-Greek part of it.
Isaiah Lopez
Is one of the future sectorials, vedic an aleph killers (also named assasins of aleph, is a translation of the spanish name, not a official name in english yet)
Aaron Hernandez
this, and I'm here. Also >Only weird common ones is their R/L can be hard on people because it's an undifferentiated sound. If they've got the type of accent where it seems like they're screwing up r/l when speaking english, it's because they can't hear the difference. So any nip who gives you too much of a hard time is a little full of shit.
Tsu is a little hard, but it's easier than 'Gogh'.
There is a reason why Chinese people adopt american anglo names, and Koreans and Japanese people don't. You can learn to pronounce the Korean and Japanese.
Jeremiah Wood
I was being facetious.
Daniel Richardson
It's Onibanan. I painted mine's monosword yellow for this reason.
also Akocimięto
Jordan Hill
Is it worth getting the acontecimiento starter box or should a wait for the next one?
Eli Moore
Many non-ASS Aleph units have Indian-themed names, hence Vedic.
Charles Wilson
Fuck off carlos you bolivian
Thomas Martinez
>Onibanan >Akocimięto
Jak to mówią dzieciaki: skisłem. My mamy też zwyczaj tłumaczenia lub spolszczania niektórych nazw: Father-Knight to Ksiądz, Hospitaller to Szpitalnik, Janissary - Janczar, Grenzer - Grancar itd. Czasem muszę sobie przypomnieć, że nie każdy kojarzy nazwę "Bożogrobowcy".
Most people will say wait for the new one, but if you get both, it will be a decent army, albeit with varied quality sculpts. Still, that's 7 Regulars (and the new box gives you SWC options) for a Core link and extras, two Montesas ready for a Duo, one Bagh-Mari to use as a Sniper proxy and two different Akalis, both with popular loadout options. Just put more shit on the old minis' bases to bring them to height.
Joseph Ramirez
"hsien" just means "forever" or "eternal", though CB was pretty obviously going for "immortal", which would be translated as 永生 (永 is on their unit symbol thing). If you pronounce it like most people pronounce it, it comes off a bit like "Shien", which would be "First", which, to my mind, sounds pretty good too.
That being said, it's a bit silly to expect people to pronounce things correctly, especially since there's plenty of mishmashed dialect stuff to go around. Hac Tao is the most obvious (should be Hei or Hey Tao) but even Sun Tze/Tzu is weird.
I'd never fault someone for mispronouncing a YJ unit.
Isaiah Jackson
He's not wrong though.
Juan Collins
Fucking tone languages.
Oliver Young
Not to mention over a hundred years in the future, languages will change quite drastically in terms of sound.
Nolan Collins
Fizylier, Szpitalnik, Bożogrobcy, Janczar, Baszybuzuk, Szaser, Żuaw, Łunochod, Gekon are common stuff. Not even a change, just translation.
Other fun name variants I've heard locally include Bulterier (Bulleteer), Bełty (Bolts), Pedomisie/Pedobears (koalas), MMM (Moran Masajski Morcerca/Moran Massai Murderer), Speckulka, Seczuan/Suczka (Su Jian), Gaylang due to pic related, Ksiądz/priest is Father Sforza, Punglings, Geishabots, Liski/Laski are a source of some confusion (Odalisques and Lasiqs respectively). Dziabazany. Mega Ryba, Glizdobot, Tohaamony, Judeoboty/Żydoboty.
I blame half of these on Maru. The rest, well, we are not mature adults.
Christian Jackson
It's not all bad. Even silly Bolivians using translation software can get some interesting results. Su Jian translates as "Speeding Sword", for instance, which is appropriate.
Speaking of which, when Subaru, the Japanese auto maker decided on a name when marketing to the Chinese, they chose "Su Ba Lu", or 斯巴鲁, which translates as "the speed which overcomes the road". That's pretty good marketing there.
Carter Howard
their is a difference between languages having different differeciations of phonemes and being a tone language.
There are a lot of different sounds that can be used in languages, and a lot are not shared across languages. What makes it weirder is that the sounds a person can hear are not universal, but develop during infancy. If you don't hear the difference between say r and l, or t and d, or 'z' and tsu/tze, or whatever, during that time, you might not develop the ability to hear them as separate sounds.
Easton Perez
>Judeoboty/Żydoboty Well, they are from ALEPH after all.
Brody Ramirez
Should I glue the sword arm to the Hac Tao before or after priming?
Owen Gomez
so what does ORC stand for anyway?
Matthew Lewis
Omnia Research Corp
Carter Davis
Whaddup dudes,
Just thre together this list with a bunch of units I wanted to see work together. Thoughts?
Force de Réponse Rapide Merovingienne ──────────────────────────────────────────────────
So the blade is just resting on his shoulder plates? If you are confident you can produce a paintjob that won't bring shame to your family name when subjected to a high resolution digital camera, leave it off and paint the fuck out of all the plates you would not otherwise be able to reach properly.
If you are a tabletop painter, glue that shit on and get glooping.
Justin Butler
I'm this level if it helps.
Juan Fisher
If you think having the arm in place will hide or interfere with things that need a high level of paint, then leave the arm off. What I might do is just barely tack the arm on with the minimum amount of glue to keep it in place. Primer the mini like this, then pop the arm off and clean up the glue. You'll have a clean pair of surfaces for the final glue, meaning no nasty glue squidge spots (if you are careful).
Benjamin Stewart
Go to strip someone my tohaas cause I wasn't happy with my first attempt at them. Forget to take them off the bases. Realise what I did an hour later and take them out some of the bases are all weird now appearance wise. Oh well I've got a excuse to get some these now warsen.al/collections/bases/products/runohaa-bases
Christopher Smith
>stripping tohaas Lewd.
Xavier Ramirez
>Go to strip some of my tohaa
Kayden Martinez
>Brush-painting >Infinity minis >in 2016
C'mon, if you can't use an airbrush at LEAST as well as Angel, you have no business owning Infinity minis at all. If you're not going to devote the time and practice to be at least that good, you shouldn't bother painting your minis at all.
This is the bare-minimum tabletop standard. You should be able to do at least this well.
Bentley Wood
>almost poland/10 That being said, while mid-field will be a clusterfuck, you really only have 3 long-range weapons, and one of them is BS11. Briscards are a bit pricey, but MSV1 with marksman rifle is a pretty nice deal.
I mean, I'd play you, so I guess that counts for something?
