In Dorohedoro, the wizards use magic smoke they generate inside their bodies. They can blast it out of their fingertips or mouths. The broomstick runs on the magic smoke, so the mask and gloves are hooked up to it so they can fuel it.

And obviously the magic smoke they produce is what the broomstick uses to fly around.
