So let's ask an honest question. If Ys, squints and the 2400 show up in Rebels S3 like it looks like they are, do we expect FFG to push new cards related to those?

Is there anywhere online in the UK I can buy the rpg dice from without being price gouged on amazon?

Who is the greatest pilot in the galaxy, and why is it wampa?

Always beti on the yeti.

>who would win in a fight between /swg/ and /stg/
Oh god please no.

There's an app which is reasonably priced.

Yes. And I expect them all to be wearing new hats.

but seriously, how long until this appears in X-wing?

>hybrid Lewis /MG15
we heavy repeater now

Can this be a blaster-themed general?

...

His wingmen all think he's just an eccentric dude who never socialises after hours
In reality, he's the son of the wampa Luke killed on Hoth. He has joined the Empire, gained proficiency in a TIE-fighter, and now he lives only to shoot down Luke Skywalker Yub yub

FORCE CHOKE!

VERSUS!

VULCAN NERVE PINCH!

WHICH! IS! DEADLIEST?!

As one of the /stg/ fags, I say let's not fight. I'd have rather watched the pic related crossover in OP than Into Darkness' half-assed Khan.

Also, let's face it. X-Wing is way better than Attack Wing. It'd be nice if FFG could snag the Trek license too.

I sure hope so.

I loved how original Star Wars had all blasters being based mostly on WW1&2 weaponry. This was probably just done to save money given the easy availability of such guns during those times and thus just accidental, but I think it's one of big reasons why aesthetics of Star Wars are loved by many.

Hmmm, a force choke has a range effectiveness, though nerve pinches are nearly instant in effect if memory serves. Though I get the feeling why force chokes don't instantly kill you is because the sith choking you wants to enjoy it.
Anyway, don't pinches just render you unconscious?

It also has a 'used look' to it which I like, nothing's really very shiny in the original movies. Sort of a comfy feel like a beat up old truck full of rattles

Wow, I completely forgot that game even existed.

So what is the meta like for Attack Wing (i.e. single ships or swarms), is it a "dead" game or are there still active communities of players?

Responding from last thread:

>Except it's a nobody buffing an ace rather than a ace buffing a nobody while also crippling himself by using a EPT slot.
And in Epic, you can already do this with a nobody huge ship. Coordinate has been around long enough for us to know that it's not regular-game breaking.

>Imagine Soontir getting another action a round in addition to PTL.
Would be nice, wouldn't it? Too bad he's not Tycho. If Soontir is using PtL, then he's not capable of taking an action from Coordinate. Stress tends to do that for you.

Now Tycho, or someone with Primed Thrusters, would benefit. But again... Hardly game-breaking.

Early autoloaders all have a futuristic feel to them, and there was no shortage of them in the seventies. I really wish Herr Maus kept that part of the aesthetic around...

What is that gun? Some sort of open bolt version of Stg44? I know rebel assault rifles in Empire Strikes Back were Stg44 based, but they were much different than that.

I'd like to see repros of older shit get blasterized. Stuff like pic related, SMLEs, Enfield Model 1917s, Springfields, etc.

MKb.42(W), which competed (and lost) vs. the MKb.42(H), the StG 44's direct predecessor.

youtube.com/watch?v=pBGZtuM7xek
Someone making Jawa blaster from the original film, but it looks real deal rather than reproduction. Then again it's all the better and more accurate considering they likely used real WW2 surplus for the movie too.

I have a design for a 22lr semi-auto pistol with a double-stack 30 round magazine standard, and I'm wondering if I should make it look like a Ruger mk3 or a broomhandle. I could make it like a tiny Automag but there's no better candidate for blasterization than an inexpensive 22lr c96

>all the better and more accurate
True. On the one hand, the real deal does capture the Rebellion era feel. On the other hand, part of me recoils at the idea of messing around with a piece of history like that.

Y-Wing Longprobe title (swap a torpedo slot for a system slot) when?

Know the feeling, me and my father like historical guns (More so if its WW2) and the mere tough of chopping down one of them sends shudders down my spine.

>If Soontir is using PtL, then he's not capable of taking an action from Coordinate.

>PS6 Kylo casts Coordinate
>It's super-effective
>Soontir performs an action
>PS9 Soontier performs his usual action
>He Pushes The Limit!
>Soontir does three actions!

Why the confusion?

>I'd have rather watched the pic related crossover in OP than Into Darkness' half-assed Khan.
It seems we're not so different, you and I.

Your schwarze is as bad as mine!

Are there still shitloads of moist nuggets floating around? A few years ago, it seemed like there were so many, for so cheap, that I wouldn't have been horrified at a few getting blasterized.

They still are fairly cheap. I got mine a few years ago for 120

Mine if i remember well was around the 200-400, but its Spain we mostly had Kar98 thanks to the Civil War

>Use Coordinate at PS2
>Soontir performs an action
>Soontir pushes to do another
>Soontir takes his green move
>Clears stress
>Takes his action
>Ends the round without stress

There, I fixed it.

Ah you're right (my bad).

Even so... So what? Soontir only has four actions, unless he burns a valuable modification slot on getting Target Lock. And with PtL, he effectively takes 3 actions as it is (due to ability). So Soontir gets an action from the Emo-Shuttle 9,000, and what... Gets an Evade or Focus? He doesn't want burn his Roll or Boost yet unless something parks itself right in his way. Then he takes his maneuver and an action, likely a roll or boost, and Pushes the Limit for a Boost or Roll or possibly Evade for a double focus.

Oh no... Coordinate being used on Fel is diminishing returns. He can't get more than one Evade token on his actions, can't boost or roll more than once each, and he's hardly winning an award for most Focus token bullshit aquired in one turn (Guri's my reigning champion for that, with 4 + Sensor Jammer and with Cloak turned on).

Coordinate's going to mostly help Empire ships that desperately want action economy, but lack the green maneuvers or EPT to use it. Such as Wampa, or lower end aces. The PtL Empire Aces, like Fel, Inquisitor, and Omega Leader, all have enough action economy and green maneuvers to get them by just fine. If anything, it allows them to NOT rely on PtL for once.

There's an ebb and flow to nuggets. Every time they find another warehouse full of them, they get like fifty bucks cheap. Then the price gradually climbs back up to around a hundred, until they find another warehouse.

I dunno, in some cases if its the PPK Hitler used to off himself, the magic bayonet that stabbed a dozen Japs or a sword that has chips in it from sabre on sabre clashes in early colonial times- then its got some historical value. But in a lot of cases they made 10's of millions of firearms, knives, bayonets etc that don't really have any huge intrinsic value, aren't that rare- some might have some word of mouth history to them if your uncle, granddad or someone had anything to do with it. Otherwise, theres generally a lot of material out there which is historically worth jack shit.

I inherited a couple of Nambu's, a wakizashi and jungle carbine off my grandfather, along with his medals.
The carbine I eventually traded in on a nicer rifle (that actually hits what I aim it at), the sword and pistols I donated to a war museum as I figure they'll do more good there than cluttering up my place and I've officially reached the 'more guns than is sensible level' with the wife.

Also look at it from the perspective of 'time', in the 1970's and 80's no one gave a shit about WW2 stuff aside from old vets and the odd museum, it was cheap and no one cared if you chopped it up.

I've always thought that pic related would make a pretty good blaster

I've heard it's shit, balance-wise.

All ships are bought without pilots, and the price of a ship is irrelevant to the dial, being exactly equal to 2x the sum of the stats.

As an example, a Lambda would cost 28 in attack wing, and be ps1, whereas a Phantom would cost 20 for PS 1. Then, you could slap Vader into either for ~6 points, and Vader might have 2 elite slots. The Punishing One title would be 2 points.

Combined with promo cards being better than normal ones, it's an abomination of balance that makes 40k look fair.

Yeah, the only thing at best had some historical value its the PPSH we have, manufactured on the 40s. Although my father and i don't really care if its authentic or not.

They are pretty and we love'em.

PPSH, shit they made a lot of them in about half a dozen or so countries, go poking around enough shitty places and you'll probably find them being used in places like Vietnam, North Korea and Afghanistan.
Collectors often have a jonesing for a 'full set' of something, which adds material value if its some kind of weird-ass mauser rifle they didn't make many of.

Think with modern fabrication technology the way it is, films can literally make affordable props from scratch with multi-angle CAD machines, 3d printers, casting materials etc fairly cheaply- without having to go all old-school and chopping up some antique or vintage gun. Adam Savages youtube channel is worth checking out, they make some star wars and other prop guns there which are pretty sweet.

The only real issue with this "meh, there are millions of 'em" attitude is that it's basically bystander syndrome applied to the preservation of history. "Somebody else will call the cops, it's not my problem." "Somebody else will perform CPR, it's not my problem." "Somebody else will speak up about the mistreatment of non-humans under Imperial rule, it's not my problem." "Somebody else will preserve history, it's not my problem."

Neat, i'll check his channel

Yeah, that's kind of the problem with a lot of the old WW 2 tanks... Shermans? T-34s? Meh... There's tons of them around... Let's blow another one up for this movie (Ant Man)!

Tiger? Panzer IV? Super Pershing? Hold on there... We inly have like 2 left in the world

I think there's 1 working Panther in the world, and the only reason that's the case is because a mad old german kept in his basement throughout the cold war, only bringing it out to clear snow off his road.

got back but replying to
about Finn, C3PO synergy.

C3PO adds an evade, he doesn't turn the die into an evade.
So if you guess zero, roll a blank, C-3PO triggers, adds evade. Finn adds blank. Reroll blanks.

If you have a focus, or pop glitter stim the math works out to about
15% 1 evade
60% 2 evades
25% 3 evades.

Worse without focus, but C3P0 and Finn combine to make you pretty good at getting evades if your shot from within the arc.

So I'm getting ready to put together the big session encounters for my next session (which is tomorrow and I've been busy) and I'm just gonna ask do we have stats for Star Wars FFG for the YT-1930? I don't think there are any official stats for it so does Shipfags Hanger have them or some Homebrew source for one?

Also, seeing as this will be the first time in the game the players will be in a ship, and I've read multiple times that the vanilla rules for Ship combat are ass, I assume the rules we have for fixing it are quick to pick up?

The problem with that mindset, is that there's no difference between preservation and hoarding. Comic books from the 90s are still worth almost nothing, because they were produced in volume and put right into storage by collectors. There's tons of them around. Once something hits a certain threshold of scarcity, it should be preserved, but until then it's just another nugget.

>Once something hits a certain threshold of scarcity, it should be preserved, but until then it's just another nugget.
that does depend a fair bit on how easy it is to preserve, repair or replace them, and how unique they are from things that can be created now.

I'm a different user, coming in from a more ecological perspective, but a lot of ecosystems can be filed under "Super fucking hard" in 2 to 3 of the first 3 categories categories, and "very different" in the last.

So I've heard like on FFGs forums, there's still a singular open product number for XWM that hasn't been revealed. What do we reckon this is? Is it a Rebel Vets with new cards for the T-65 and Ys which might give them some updates to slot into the game better? Will it be another Rogue One tie-in and be yet another shuttle? Will it be completely off the wall? Is there actually a product code open?

I'd tie intercept-her if you know what I mean

So, total noob question, but what's the difference between X-Wing and Armada?

Anyone gonna paint up their ARCs?

I wasn't planning on it until I saw your picture

Now I kind of want to

X wing is ww2 dogfighting using ties and xwings, armada is between large capital ships like star destroyers

XWM is starfighters. Armada is capital ships.

Yes. I was primarily thinking of restoring the old Republican colors, but I'm considering other options as well.

Can't go wrong with Razor Squadron.

I was thinking of half assing it and printing out a Republic logo and sticking it over the Alliance one.

Yes, there is an open product number. There's no real reason to expect it to be Rogue One-related since they announced all the probable ships they'd be more likely to have for the coming wave, and all of those are much higher product numbers, far above the missing number.

Odds are it's either something Rebels related and they have to hold off on announcements because of spoilers, or it's an Epic ship. If it's an Epic ship, it's likely Rebels related (to bring Thrawn in) or Scum and Villainy. However if it was a Scum and Villainy Epic, there's no reason they shouldn't have announced it at Gen Con, and in general, it would be outside how they normally announce Epic ships in relation to new wave announcements/releases.

X-Wing is more faster paced and deals with fewer ships flying around each other trying to out-maneuver and eliminate each other. Armada is about a few massive ships and a bunch of smaller ships typically trying to complete certain objectives and is slower paced and requires a lot more planning.

>There's no real reason to expect it to be Rogue One-related
Unless it's a T-65 repaint.

Could it be? Could we finally be getting the Scum Epic we deserve?

The Arab world got most of the Nazi surplus post-war. They didn't know how to fix most of them so they became rusted hulks or moving bombs. Admittedly it was a good idea if the objective was to ensure that whoever got the surplus was not a threat.

There's actually something like 6, though about half of them were postwar ones made under REME supervision rather than 'authentic' panthers.

Okay, thanks mates

Star Trek completely crushes Star Wars on account of Star Wars still using lasers, which the Federation long abandoned and can't even penetrate their shields.

Illustrated.

The Borg cutting beam is a type of laser. I think it depends on the power output, as with everything else.

Except then it'd be numbered to match the rest of the Rogue One stuff, which is placed after the rest of the Wave X stuff; and again, they'd have no reason to not announce more Rogue One stuff it if it's coming to Wave X at this point. So at this point a Rogue One-related T-65 would just be in Wave XI or later, similar to how we're not getting Kylo's shuttle, the Quadjumper, or the TIE/sf until Wave X.

>Power level wank
>With two franchises whose writers are known for inconsistency and routinely pulling newfangled bullshit out of their asses
>Forgetting all the energy beam and plasma weapon shenanigans that go on in Star Trek Online

>Forgetting all the energy beam and plasma weapon shenanigans that go on in Star Trek Online
STO isn't canon. Only the shows and movies are canon, STO is beta-canon along with all novels and comics.

>>>spacebattles

I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if say, it was "Rebel Veterans" and it was the Y-Wing and the X-Wing, because FFG knew beforehand they'd be getting some coverage it was just an opportune time to slot them in, but yeah, it's just as likely it's something completely unrelated they're holding close to their chest for now... for some reason. Maybe to tie into Force Friday this week?

Solid bet on a new epic announcement, or a Scum fix pack. It's a singular product so unless it's a fifth ship for Wave IX or something, it's got to be a release like that.

No, Startrek wins because superluminal strafing runs.

Starwars Turbolasers and fighter lasers are high energy plasma packets. They are not remotely lacking in raw firepower

>No, Startrek wins because superluminal strafing runs.
Give me a sec, will go and find some counterarguments. I swear I once saw some.

Are there any guides to painting the Astromechs on XWM? I've never painted anything but I'm tired of seeing a generic grey or silver blob on the back of my ships.

My guess is the rumored "Scum corvette" with the starviper.

What if the Scum epic is something outta Hondo's corner? He's in rebels, and it seems like they're going far in that direction. Imagine having that big saucer thing.

alternativewargamer.blogspot.com.au/2015/09/tutorial-painting-y-wing-astromechs.html?m=1

>stardestroyer.net/

The fight would only get really good once they start reverse engineering each others tech.

Also: why are we even doing this? It's pointless.

I honestly wish for Marvel/IDW to do a Star Trek/Star Wars crossover book just so I can watch the world burn while I enjoy the whole show.

Can you IMAGINE combining warp and hyperdrive tech?

Warp to make a map, Hyperdrive for actual travel.

So what do you think about porting the Clone Wars over to X-Wing?
There are two big problems I see off hand.
The first is the general design of both factions. The Republic vs the CIS is basically not-quite-as-large swarm vs swarm. With the galactic civil war, it's sort easy to see the difference.
The second is that you can't have unique droid units. They're droids, that's the whole point. So that means you have to basically have an entire factions of non-unique fighters with 2-3 heroes.
Armada, on the other hand, would probably be WAY easier to port to.
Thoughts?

I want Venators in Armada, that is all I want.

>you can't have unique droid units
OOM-9, the IG-88 line, HK-47, and countless astromechs beg to differ.

Droid fighters, should have clarified.

honestly I dont want to add the clone wars to x wing. I think it is better suited to armada.

An user already attempted, though I think it's dead now, what's there is mostly functional and quite fun, I still play it every so often over Vassal with mates.
> tripperary.blogspot.com.au/2015/12/x-wing-standalone-prequel-extension.html

>droid fighters
The IG-88s managed it. Surely there can be a droid equivalent to OOM-9. Plus, there were some CIS craft that weren't droid-based, so you could fit a few meatbag aces in there. Grievous in the Belbullab, for instance.

>The IG-88s managed it. Surely there can be a droid equivalent to OOM-9.
The IG-88s were assassin droids, with some self awareness. Droid fighters are basically mass produced drones.
>Plus, there were some CIS craft that weren't droid-based, so you could fit a few meatbag aces in there. Grievous in the Belbullab, for instance.
That's what I was referring to when I said
>with 2-3 heroes

Even the shitty B-1s had command droid variants so it really isn't too far-fetched that the CIS would build wing commander variants of their droid starfighters.

Thanks!

I feel like the most you can do with this is basically what they did with the ARC: Basically Rebels, or Scum, salvaged and overhauled/retrofitted these old ships for combat. I don't think the Clone Wars era as setting would transition that well at all.

I would prefer if Clone Wars simply got its own spin off game.
Something that lends itself to larger scale battles better than X-wing does.

eh given that there would be shared ships and xwing already spans two conflicts decades apart, what's one more.

Just add a couple more factions and promote 200 points with maybe a little of the armada style objectives as another standard game type.

or you could have them play pretty different.
Droid starfighters do have versions with pilot abilities, but their kinda weak, but non-unique.
CIS has a much heavier focus towards swarm tactics, and 'leader' 'follower' groupings, rather than unique aces dog fighting, outside of few special ships.

kinda like the idea of non unique pilot abilities. You could even still do limited like adding a "limited 2" tag that means you can only take 2 of the thing.

Thing with history is that its often best done with research, documentation and something of a neutral attitude. Artefacts so to speak are not something which inherently has a history just by being what they are, with military gear you should be a lot more scrupulous about its origins than just picking up a surplus rifle and thinking it has history- it has a manufacturing history, a service history and a general reflection on the time it was developed.
That has value, but its lessened by production numbers and condition.
Now if it was something carried by a countries war hero, saw service in a particular battle and has the corresponding evidence, serial numbers to match then you do have a piece of history. Otherwise it was probably left in an armoury, drooled on by cadets, used by a border guard to shoot animals or carried by someone who didn't necessarily distinguish themselves as it has no corroborating evidence which gives it a 'history'. There's also a large amount of charlatans out there who will also sell and spin a line of bullshit attached to certain objects that collectors- motivated by financial investment, will jump on and get burnt for huge money.

Mementos and trophies another matter as they're personal collections from experience, but even those should be treated with a fairly suspect history as not every war prize brought home by Uncle Bucky was pried out of the cold dead hands of some enemy. A lot of them where traded by troops to rear echelon guys for various favours and commodities. (Heck I've done it myself!)

So there is history to everything, but if its remarkable or ordinary and worth preserving is another matter

>Mementos and trophies another matter as they're personal collections from experience, but even those should be treated with a fairly suspect history as not every war prize brought home by Uncle Bucky was pried out of the cold dead hands of some enemy.

that i know. i have an american ww2 machette my grandfather gave me. But he was ground crew for allied airforce in north africa and they came across a wrecked jeep one day.

Vader (and most troopers) wear armor, a concept apparently foreign to Star Trek. Try to nerve pinch through plastoid.

Force choke has range. Trek's habit of hailing threats also opens a video comm chanel for Vader to strangle you ala Ozzel.
