Pick your most played faction and then fill in the blanks:
_____: came for the ______, stayed for the _______
So, for example:
Yu Jing: Came for the Ninjas, stayed for the Heavy Infantry.
I just want to know what draws people to factions and what made people fall in love with it.
Jeremiah Turner
Haqqislam: came for the doctors, stayed for the Fiday
Henry Cox
The solution's simple: We make the Blackjack model the Al-Fasid. Now everyone has rules AND models.
Robert Mitchell
Ariadna: came for the camo, stayed for the grunts.
Blake Young
Haqqislam. Came for the assassins, stayed for the shotguns.
Charles Turner
Haqqislam: Came for Maghariba, stayed for the QK
Isaac Rogers
Shasvastii: Came for the subterfuge, stayed for the suffering.
Lincoln Butler
Yu Jing. Came for the alien minis, stayed for the gameplay.
Christopher Carter
(I didn't say my first faction was the most played)
Jason Wood
Yu Jing: came for the Heavy Infantry, stayed for the state-sanctioned thought police
Jacob Rogers
PanO: Came for the Auxbots, stayed for the remotes
i like robutts
Jordan Edwards
Ariadna: came for the cute redhead chicks in short skirts, stayed for the sexy biker babes
Ayden Robinson
But user, there is only one sexy biker babe in Ariadna.
Jason Moore
Isn't Babe a gender neutral term? Isn't it short for Baby and baby's gender neutral?
James Lee
While that's technically correct (the best kind of correct), the connotation is that babe=sexually attractive woman.
Grayson Harris
It's sort of like if you image search the word "actor" you'll be hard pressed to find a woman even though the term is technically gender neutral nowadays. Results still show up either way, with "babe" or "actor."
Lucas Mitchell
I wouldn't know because I can't find any lore besides unit entries. Is there a wiki or something?
Brody Rogers
>want to play Ariadna >its the most busted faction because Polacks spam the most boring shit in the army >get called a furfag for wanting to run antipods and dog warriors
welp time to go be a racist space knight and DEUS VULT you cunts
Aaron Stewart
No wiki, just the occassional article on the main site itself.
It's only busted if you choose to make it busted, user. And even then dude spam isn't even that bad if you're prepared to counter it. It works very well against certain types of lists, but I've fucked a 24 order list with half that number before.
Play the faction you want. Don't be a self-conscious pussy. You apparently don't want to play Ariadna that much if you're backing off because some faggots whined at you.
Tyler Ramirez
Nomads: came for the catgirl's ass, stayed for the Bandit's ass
Also, Best TAGs and miniTAGs of all time Fite me
Caleb Barnes
I don't know. There's something about the Anaconda's design that really speaks out to me, personally.
Nicholas Walker
The major things to know that isn't unit entries is as follows, IIRC:
Humanity makes interstellar travel through set wormholes. Picture that wormhole near Saturn in interstellar.
In a major colonization project with international support, project Ariadna: a ship, was made to travel through a wormhole to planet Dawn. It was very expensive. Ariadna went through but the wormhole collapsed and the planet and colonizing people were lost for a century. This lead to a major economic disaster, which lead to a consolidation of major countries, boosted to the hyperpowers of PanO and Yu Jing. Humanity moved on but it turns out Ariadna people were left to fend for themselves relatively technologically backwards on an alien planet with hostile wolf creatures (the Antipodes). The rest of humanity managed to move on and successfully colonize some planets. Tensions rose, ALEPH was made, other A.I.'s were banned, Haqqislam grew and has a monopoly on SILK which is used for Resurrection, people surprisingly grew more religious, military orders made a comeback, Nomads were like "I don't like authority" and made their own societies in spaceships with one of them being a former prison ship, all that Jazz.
The only other major thing you may miss out on is that there used to be an artificial intelligence that was made and transcended to a higher plane of existence without its creators because it didn't deem them worthy, the creators got mad and made a second artificial intelligence to try to figure out what that first one did, but to be more like them and want to carry them with it, but the second intelligence wasn't as smart as the first because of the limitations, so instead it went all "I need more power" and became the Evolved Intelligence that leads the combined army who's job is to find that more power to process its original purpose.
At least, that's how I remember it. Anyone care to correct me?
Wyatt Brooks
What I can't agree with is Japs ever being conglomerated along with Koreans and Chinks. Even in their current castrated, post-WWII state they'd rather slit their throats than be apart of some China-dominated hegemony.
Adam Reed
What do you guys think of this list? Should I switch something out?
Oh yeah, that complex. Basically, they react how you'd expect, generally considered second class citizens in the greater Yu Jing, many of them still fight for independence naming themselves after the war criminals called Kempeitai.
Dominic Lee
They got more religious because the church had more power to bribe them. The PanO Catholic Church is basically a megacorporation that happens to run the biggest service that allows you to get a new body after death thanks to the cube implants. That's kinda huge, and explains why they have political import.
Then they also run a PMC for the Knights, which work for the PanO Military.
I'm not a great fan of that either, but it's part of why the Nomad 'space pagan' sect thinks the church sold it's soul for power with the devil (Aleph).
It's all from one of Infinity's main source materials, the 4-book 'Hyperion' series.
Brandon Stewart
Did they at least lose a very ugly war before being forced into this? And how did America/the West react? What was their level of involvement? Or did the just get bent over and accept this EU-sanctioned ass raping by what sounds like a Yurop wet dream?
Adrian Nelson
They certainly weren't happy about it. Their government only let it happen because the alternative was total economic collapse. The populace reacted very badly, which was rather counter-productive since it gave China an excuse to oppress the shit out of them.
Jordan Harris
Again, why did America, Australia, the west in general, pull out of Japan? This is baffling to me.
Wyatt Morales
America got wrecked in a war with PanO, and went broke amongst other issues. They couldn't expand like the other space powers, and are basically a 2nd world country currently on Earth (along with Russia).
Elijah Wright
The EU and America were in the middle of their own total economic collapse as they'd shunted huge finances into the aborted Project Ariadna. IIRC at this time PanO (At the time "just" Brazil+Argentina+India+Australia+Philippines+Indonesia) was also starting to step to the hugely weakened USA so it had its own problems.
Julian Campbell
>America got wrecked in a war with PanO
so it IS a Yurop power fantasy!
Oliver Martinez
America died of self-inflicted nanobot AIDS after they picked a fight with PanO and were afraid they might lose (this was after they wasted ludicrous sums of money trying to get to the wormholes). That's why PanO was able to take Europe and YJ got Korea and Japan.
PanO probably could have helped the Asian countries, but they suffered from a terrible case of not giving a fuck.
Chase Gomez
>Brazil, Argentina, Australia
>going anywhere but down the toliet
also
>PanO probably could have helped the Asian countries, but they suffered from a terrible case of not giving a fuck.
yeah no that sounds like a m issed opportunity at worst at best and completely retarded at worst
Christian Roberts
Europe wasn't even in PanO at that point. And the US had just pissed trillions of dollars into space so it was hardly a fair fight.
If all the initial PanO countries got their shit together and joined forces, they'd actually end up pretty powerful. Hell, South America by itself could be a force to be reckoned with if it wasn't so divided and corrupt.
Key word there being "if", of course. None of those things are ever going to happen, but on a technical level they could.
And I think PanO was dealing with its own problems when Japan and Korea got eaten. They'd just finished a war against a powerful enemy, and stealing those countries away would mean pissing off China when they were vulnerable.
Tyler Rodriguez
So what are some neat vehicle models that would work as terrain in InfiNity? I don't wanna just plop some 40k Chimeras on the table and call it USAriadna terrain.
Justin Collins
Nomads came for the power armor designs, stayed for the Ninja Turtles
Robert Thompson
>And the US had just pissed trillions of dollars into space so it was hardly a fair fight.
Something that makes no logical sense when we are actively dismantling or privatizing our space exploration.
Joseph Wright
Nomads: Came for the Daktari, stayed for the Uberfallkommando
Brayden Bell
US of A would never let South America get its shit together is the thing. Most of the world doesn't want that, either.
Levi Perez
We don't have wormholes to travel through though.
Gabriel Wright
Antenociti does a bunch of cilivilian vehicles like a bus, a taxi, a sports car, some one seater cars like a future smart and some bikes. They kinda look like anal toys though. They released some more variants with straight lines too recently though. They also have this beauty.
Mantic got a bunch of jetbikes and a flyer in their corporation(?) range for deadzone.
I'd also have a look at CNC workshops scenery. You can get the Borderland cars, some bikes and forklifts for industrial scenery or space ports etc from them. They also have a small flyer and a steam boat. For all your shipyard and airport scenario needs.
Puppetswar sell a few aircraft too, with matching shipping crates. They also had a range of modular cars in the works called pegasus, not sure if that was released yet though.
Ainsty casting does a bunch of ruined vehicles. Mostly temporary stuff but as ruins. More suited to post apoc tables rather than polished anime sci-fi stuff. Depends on what flavor of Infinity you prefer. They got a subway car that has crashed through the street from below though. That looks neat. And loads of improvised barricades using tires.
Similarly armorcast has a set of crashed cars and scrapyard piles. Looks kinda retro future like.
Clear Horizon sell a Nemensis light strike vehicle that looks neat.
If you google for Louis Marx & Company Cars of the future car set you'll find an old toy set that also seemed to be popular amongst gamers. Kind a hard to find these days though.
Maxmini sells a hoverbike and a normal bike.
Micro art also had cars. Made of foam though instead of resin iirc.
ramshackle has a host of really cheap bikes and vehicle kits. Only the bikes would work as scenery next to infinity minis though.
Terra Gnosis has a few Mad Max&Borderlands inspired things. Again depends on the style you are going for.
That's all I can think of for now.
Aaron Harris
I hate the head. It would be great otherwise. Geko is still my favorite TAG in the game.
Robert Diaz
Oh yeah, last but not least the humble matchbox car from the toy aisle can come in handy. You can convert those too. Either make them look a little more futuristic or make wrecks out of them. Matchbox also usually has a bunch of futuristic looking stuff. You could plopp the batmobile on the table and it would look at home next to the Infinity minis.
Nathaniel Jenkins
Gamnerdz shipping red veil. Mine just shipped today.
Ryder Flores
Sorry for spamming, but on second though I think it was Zen terrain that made the rollers and not CNC. They also got a cute little helicopter.
Landon Morris
I ordered mine from Miniaturemarket and I got it today.
Regret not ordering it through game nerdz though.
Christopher Price
While we are on the topic of scenery, has anybody tried seen a Secret Weapon table used for infinity? Combined with a few sci-fi buildings this could look pretty cool I think.
Ian Mitchell
Got mine from Gamenerdz Monday, I pre-ordered on the first day though.
Cameron Miller
Gonna buy this beauty for my Ariandan-themed terrain. It's pretty big, but I think it's gonna fit the table well.
Kevin Edwards
How can you hate the head design? Do you smoke cocks for a living as well?
Camden Price
Yet!
Still reeks of wet dream to see through US reduced to a second string backwater. Are Spaniards butthurt about America? I thought that was more their northernly neighbors.
Daniel Gomez
All empires fall eventually
Wyatt Sanders
Only China is eternal.
Cameron Scott
>Are Spaniards butthurt about America?
it's tough being #1
*wrong gif*
Bentley Parker
Hello, just getting started here with Haqq. I've played a couple games with a friend and we're planning on moving up from the base starters soon. Was wondering how this simple advancement from the base starter looks.
Thanks!
Isaiah Turner
2 Jan's is a bit of a overkill, especially in low point games. But the HMG model is totes mcgotes so go with it. My personal favorites are the Al Hawwa/Tuareg, Bashi Bazouk & Lasiq. Saladin + Fiday is a pretty nifty combo so consider theese.
Nathaniel Lewis
The Ariadna disaster bankrupted our current superpowers
Nathaniel Baker
I've got Red Veil and am just weighing my options for a Vanilla list using all the models plus what I have from JSA. I plan on using the bald Keisotsu as a Shaolin monk. Should I ditch Shinobu from this list even though she's my favorite model? Having only 1/3 of your models be specialist is ok, right?
Luke Thomas
MO: came for the Space Knights, stayed for the fact infinity doesnt sell at all in my area
Brayden Smith
I got this one specifically to use as Infinity terrain. I've not painted it yet, but it's going to sport winter camo with Svalarheima Winter Force logo. I'd expect Svalarheima machinery to be a lot more "rugged" compared to the rest of PanO, since it's both a harsh planet and a frontier.
Hunter Howard
Just getting into this game with a friend, and I just want to make sure I have this right. There is no way to have more than one fireteam right? Is it possible to have a Fireteam: Core and a Fireteam: Duo in one army?
Benjamin Rivera
No one is really "butthurt" about America, except maybe North Korea. However turning current superpowers into shades of their former glories is a good shorthand for "in the future everything has changed". Especially since a lot of Infinity lore starts with oil running out; which is also why Middle East fell into disarray and Haqqislam gained popularity. USA is also a huge oil producer.
Ian Wood
1Core, 1 Haris and unlimited Duos if you can fit them. Unless your name is Steel Phalanx and Tohaa in which case you have your special fire teams that are unlimited.
Juan Watson
>There is no way to have more than one fireteam right? That's what the various fireteam types are for.
>Is it possible to have a Fireteam: Core and a Fireteam: Duo in one army? You can have a Core, a Haris and a Duo all in one army if you have the units and it's perfectly legal. And then there's Enomotarchos and Triads.
Robert Barnes
Ah I see! For some reason I wasn't understanding that part correctly. Thanks for the clarification.
anything glaringly wrong with this list? Would like to fit an engie in, maybe swap for one of the auxilia, but mostly I just went for models I liked the look of
Camden Adams
And I guess to append onto this post, what would a good list for a new player centering on a bolt link look like?
Adam Edwards
For just terrain? Pixar Cars. Most are 1:55 scale. Just cover up the eyes.
Aiden Perry
>S5 Task Master >S2 Reverend Healer Did someone strap Wolverine into power armor?
Kevin Gutierrez
...
Julian Young
JSA, came for the Haramaki, stayed for the TO spam.
Gabriel Barnes
And how *is* the Infinity meta in Australia?
Liam Wilson
You have a to hd specialist and an airdrop, you should be ok for learning, Personally, I'd drop Shinobu for an Oniwaban and get a second Shaolin and Yaozao or turn your zhanshi into FO. Shinobu matters more in JSA where she's one of only 3 sources of smoke for them, the other two are another named ninja and an extremely impetuous bike.
Brayden Ortiz
I'm in the middle of my great leap forward into Vanilla Yu Jing. Who else is fumbling with tiny pieces from Red Veil here?
Nathaniel Gonzalez
>that hack tao
Wait until you get a remote.
Jackson Cook
What is that wierd blade i see nomads with? First the bandits and now taskmasters. Is it a future version of some ancient weapon?
Jacob Howard
Looks like an evil-baby-killing-assault-zombie-knife machete.
Andrew Barnes
It looks like a great helm and its hard angles clash with the rounded more organic body design.
Robert Cooper
The Lu Duan/Rui Shi are in the back, the Yaokong already painted and assembled for JSA
It's just some brutal machette thing. A less elegant weapon than that weird curvy Observancy blade.
It's not new, the old Morlocks from like 2004 had a double-ended version of the same blade.
Incidentally, love the taskmasters.
Noah Evans
PanO has India as well.
Michael Hall
There is actually just a toddler piloting that thing.
Cameron Cox
Looks solid mate.
Leo Hill
Looks solid, though I think a Bolt Link and a TAG is tough to fit in 300 points.
I would either do a TAG/Fusil link, or Swiss or Aquila with a Bolt link, get a TR Bot, doc and shoot for 12-14 orders.
Zachary Cooper
...
Gabriel Rivera
I love the design and how it looks but they're too small for my liking. They're meant to be dudes that get sent in to subdue whatever the fuck the Praxis Labs have been brewing. I don't buy for a second that this manlet can do jack and or shit to a genetically modified beast or a rogue mech.
Jonathan Foster
They just don't want to hit their heads on every doorway.
Lucas James
Better to specify state or city. The size of the whole US with the overall population a little larger than most countries major cities.
Leo Cruz
Looks like a spada falchion -in spaaaaace-
Owen King
>look at the rounded organic body clashing with the helms angles.
Yeah what shit aesthetics.
Blake Adams
Yeah. They subdue targets. You know. With fully automatic machine guns, huge nanite flamethrowers, giant knives, and humongous power armor that yet can sprint around at normal human soldier speeds. While practicing martial arts.
Henry Parker
Who's to say there would only be one Taskmaster?
Sebastian Flores
Taskmaster looks great IMO.
Brody Ortiz
I'm down with it personally. It looks chunky without being oversized. Like they've built them for pure force in as small of a frame as possible. If they are oporating inside the labs etc they need to be able to navigate indoors effectively.
But yeah I can see how it looks like those hilarious little buff dudes you see at the gym.
Thomas Ross
I really like a lot of those dudes if they don't have a chip.
