What do you do in your downtime, chummer?

...You just copied and pasted? Really?

Last guy did the same thing in at least the BTL.

Is it really that hard to come up with 4 filename jokes, people?

>Oh no someone didn't replace the filename gag that only half of the threadgoers read, everything is ruined!

Be a sensible parent.

>I'm a lazy bitch who can't make jokes

If you dislike it so much make the next thread yourself or stop whining when other people do shit you're too lazy to do.

Yeah, I'll do something next time, was the first time I made the thread and I'm used to this stuff just being boilerplate.

How many degerantes here have ever erp'd their characters? Have you played with any of your fellow players?

>How many degerantes here have ever erp'd their characters?
Never.

>Have you played with any of your fellow players?
Nice tautology.

.. I actually do consider Shadowrun a game.

>degerantes

Spelling it wrong and using it wrong; you're retarded.

I have a player who is a huge weaboo and plays a Japanese human female melee cyber samurai with bow and katana in a kimono in 5e.

Now, he is all about the gear. Specifically weapons. Unfortunately, there isn't much in the way of super fancy and shiny melee weapons to find and no real way to mod them in 5e. What kind of high tech swords might he be able to find in secret labs or comission?

>U didn't do it so u can't criticize.

1st. Kill yourself. 2nd, also kill yourself.

And lastly, sorry I wasn't hanging around desperately to save you from making a fool of yourself. Shit happens, suck it up chummr.

Might be able to find a vibroblade. Ares might be working on putting FAB in some melee weapons as a way to CQC spirits.

Sorry I can't steer you any better.

>degerantes
the only thing here that's degenerate is your spelling ability

>What do you do in your downtime, chummer?

I told my GM I was going to make a character who travels out into NAN territory to fish. Then Howling Shadows came out, I saw the look in his eye when he was talking about it, so now my PC plays SimFish 2078 and has a program set up that orders and delivers sushi to him based on his catch.

>now my PC plays SimFish 2078 and has a program set up that orders and delivers sushi to him based on his catch.

...surely this is some high lifestyle stuff.

Krill and mycoprotein are cheap, omae. If it's real sushi, sure.

Middle Lifestyle, homemade program (luxury of being friends with the decker), real fish. Whenever we have a scene where it comes up, I roll a die and add that x10 to that month's lifestyle.

I edged it once to see what would happen, ended up making the global leaderboards for that week and getting real tuna for 300¥

Nice.

What's the closest you can get to an Elephant Gun?

What about an Obrez?

>Elephant Gun
Large-caliber gun? Assault cannon.

>Obrez
Mosin-Nagant? Any rifle with the sawn-off modification.

R&G has rules for taking off the stock and sawing down the barrel. There's old bolt-action rifles in Gun Haven 3, pick one.

You google are such fucking google.

>Moooooom, they're posting stuff that makes me angry! I need a new diaper! And bring some nuggies!

So I worked on my own version of jensen, still no idea how the fuck the original poster managed to make out with fucking 1k extra while having pheromones 3 and wired reflexes 2, but w/e I'm not going for a character to overshadow the rest of the party, here.

Wondering if anyone can help on contacts/knowledge skills before I finish this fucker up/point out any discrepancies.

I already know about essence costs, arms should be .8 after two qualities not 7, maybe something to do with a a ware suite of all 4 arms? I got really sick of typing all of them up.
Also bioware just "costs" 0 because of something I've forgotten, but didn't properly work so I manually made it do so.
props to the original poster for the runner name mirrorshades, I'm taking that shit and having "jensen" have built in aviators.

>What do you do in your downtime, chummer?

My loli infiltrator adept with plenty of social aptitude spends time listening to old classical music and drawing, drinking at the bar disguised as a burly male dwarf and visiting her sister and friends (not that she has a lot of those, considering that her public persona are fake). It's not that she's paranoid, she just knows that it would be extremely easy to trace a neotonous elf physical adept.

She's currently trying to learn how to play a violin, but it's not going too well.

>Crossdressing loli elf

Please don't reply to loliposter.

Not just crossdressing, she has facial- and body sculpt and voice control, along with high disguise. She's virtually a dwarf when she goes out.

>What do you do in your downtime, chummer?
Sleep, mostly. Being always tired is fun

I'm the degenerante. It was me all along. I've shadowlewded on several different occasions.

Ask me questions about my sick magical realm.

Is there any way at all to make a viable cyborg mage?

Check out the burnout shit.

Get all the robot parts then initiate a-fucking-lot?

v

>Is there any way at all to make a viable cyborg mage?
Depends on how cyborg you want to be and how mage you want to be at the same time, chummer.

Gimme some fun ways to fuck with a decker with the Prank Warrior negative quality.

Last session, I had the prankster, for a conversation, change all of the decker's replies to their opposite forms when confirming the job was done. IE: Yes became No

Trollspin

Does anyone have some good-looking scifi/cyberpunk four-door cars? My character's driving a Hyundai Shin-Hyung, but artists seem to strongly prefer drawing two-door vehicles, as far as I can find.

Esh-Esh, why don't you post more often?

>What do you do in your downtime, chummer?
Edit run footage mostly. Being an LA runner is hard work.
A proper monosword would be nice, with stats comparable to the monowhip instead of the shittier katana we actually have.
Other than that, no clue.

Does this count?

>Does this count?
Definitely good enough for me!

Glad to help

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Lmao casual

I bet you don't even have a mohawk

4e had a few better options with vibroswords and monoswords whose stats you can steal. As for the bow... got nothing. My high-tech street Sam uses a monoblade katana and a savalette guardian as their daisho

I do, but I didn't ask for it.

Re: aviators there's a cybermod in 4e that's basically Jensen's glasses, eye shields that come out and retract automatically, add +1 armor to your face even

Tbh i would ditch the pheremone for tier 2 wired reflexes, you aren't gonna face fight AND sneak all in one unless this is a prime runner or npc

Also if you're cosplaying Jensen, some security knowledge like Security Corporate or Security: law enforcement would be fitting

I'm a manipulation mage and have 22 karma saved up. What should I spend it on?

>in 4e
Can't do it.
and wouldn't the inspiration be the other way around?
The pheremone removal is probably for the best, yeah. it's too expensive when we already have something of a "face" more of a charismatic oh so honorabu street sam but still
for the knowledge skills: while even if I /weren't/ somewhat cosplaying jensen/denton I'd get them, my current DM is just so fucking weird with his runs/just a weird person in general it's practically worthless to do it.
We're running in the 2077 version of our current city for some reason. A fucking tiny city. Not quite "small town everybody knows each other" tier, but pretty fucking close, and we have essentially no "proper" runs, it's all weird shit that would be more suited to hiring random gangers to do in exchange for drugs instead of actual runnners.
All those good skills would be worthless.

What's the best medium sized drone for customizing? Preferably, with arms.

How much would you say a portable drink dispenser would cost? Small enough to stick to the slide mount on my AK.

What about Street/underworld knowledge then? Or local stuff like geography and bars/clubs

Aug bars. It's where you get yoself metal chicks

Oh, I just saw you have all that already. Ok.

Maybe some mechanical knowledge for your augs so you know when to go into the shop

Well for contacts you definitely want a street doc and a fixer, either or

>mage
>karma saved up
How?

Depends on the tank size. You could fit one or two flasks into a stock.

If you put anything other than vodka Into an ak though the spirits get angry

You probably want some more knowledge skills.

>Street doc
Would be helpful, if our mage wasn't basically a better street doc for some crazy reason.. I took one on my old character and the entire group looked at me like I was dumb, despite just joining and having no knowledge of this.
Will get a fixer, though. The "group" one is starting to piss me off.
The mechanical knowledge/bar knowledge is excellent advice, I'll swap some shit around there.
metal chicks are best chicks

I actually have 18 karma since I can't not have wanted since another quality makes me get it, forget which, and I need X debt for the cash.
Anything there I can do beyond just keeping my current skills as is and using karma for it?
I Just now discovered I only have 7/10 into karma for cash, so I technically only have 15 karma or so.

Magic is really expensive, yo

Yes, I know, so how the fuck do you still have karma saved up? I used up 750 of my 800 just on the basics.

oh, just checked.
Even after removing tailored pheremones and messing with my karma>nuyen, getting WR 2 puts me a little over 66k in the hole.
The jump in price is so fucking big, goddamn.

Well obviously it's vodka. Just wanted to know so I could figure it. I'm not really hurting for cash at the moment but I figured I would get a first wave of useless shit bought before I spent the rest of my spare karma on whatever I get yelled at to get.

I just gotta stick shit on my drone first.. Why are there no lock-on countermeasures in any of the 5e books so far? Are they just under a different name?

They must have bumped it radically in 5e. This is why I don't get cyber limbs. Fuckers eat up ny like nobodies business.

Ok, still, I'd still ditch the pheremone and invest in Intimidate. Be the bad cop. As for the mage being a good street doc, magic can't heal steel omae. A proper street doc has cybertechnology and mechanical skills for doing body shop repairs and tweaks to limbs and warez. If the mage has even that - well damn, nice.

If not a doc then get a gun runner or a black market dealer. Idk what's available in 5e cyber wise that's cheap. Maybe cybered eyes or ears, or one of those wierd head mods like an internal map or balance system or a fucking attention coprocessor

My friend and I are both going to play Face MysAds in a two-PC game. How can we differentiate?

Good cop/bad cop?

>Why are there no lock-on countermeasures in any of the 5e books so far? Are they just under a different name?
Lock-on is, as far as I can tell, a bit of a waste compared to buying a smartsoft. Cheaper than a r6 clearsight soft, more consistent, and doesn't waste a turn.
Anyway, you just need to make an opposed test to evade detection, which isn't that hard.

i mean getting WR 1 is fine and dandy at 39K, but then level 2 is One Hundred and Fourty Nine Thousand Nuyen, which is crazy fucking bullshit.
Level 3 is 68k higher than that which is sort of acceptable since it's the most advanced version of a crazy procedure, but the jump from level 1>2 is 110k, more than 3X as much in a jump as level one costs.

I forget what it costs in 4e but I almost always get rank 2. Then again I skip limbs for muscle bios and orthoskin

I can't get my filthy casual friends to stick with SR5, even with me dumbing down the rules considerably for them. But they like the setting.

Since Anarchy seems like it's in limbo for the foreseeable future, does anyone have any experience with using other rulesets in the Shadowrun world?

Houserules, friendo.

>even with me dumbing down the rules considerably for them

New houserule: Shitters get out.

Might as well just say everybody get out.

Face is kind of a half role. Someone should subspecialize in infiltration, the other in combat.

Blades In The Dark?

What said. Also diversify the face side of things by specialising in different environments. One for high society champagne receptions and corporate meetings, the other getting down and dirty in bars, gang territories and the general underbelly of society.

>>in 4e
>Can't do it.

The Ballistic Glass covers are in 5e too, Chrome Flesh.

Have a soundbite claiming that the decker is a flaming retard loudly play whenever he has to reboot his deck.

>ork
>smooth skin and curves,

I need a good book as a gift for a girl that's joining my group but she is completely fresh to cyberpunk.
She's into urban fantasy so something more fantasy than cyberpunk would be great!

If you want her to understand the game you're playing, please don't try to butter up to her with urban fantasy.
It's nice and all that you want to give a gift, but if you also want to introduce her to the genre, you should choose based on what impression it'll give her. Newbies are often quick to bite onto inspiration because they don't have any previous experience, so giving something that's not really cyberpunk is straight-out counterproductive for your group.
I would personally say Gibson's Idoru. It's not overhyped, it's an extremely good introduction to most core cyberpunk concepts, it's not too freaky, it has a few interesting female characters, it covers a lot of different moods and it's not too actiony.
It's not because action alienates female players - in fact, it's the opposite way around. In my experience, female players are quick to go murderhobo and might need a bit of poking to not choose the violent option.

Gibson's first trilogy? Neromancer etc. You get the girl with cat claws, cyberspace gods...

>girl
Kick her out before your whole table goes up in flames of drama.

I'm not meaning to generalize, but I've played with half a dozen chicks over my GMing career, and five out of six would just play Molly Millions with the serial numbers filed off if they got to read that. Tough chicks, traits evocative of animals and the possibility of killing are simply too tempting to female players in my experience.
Out of six World of Darkness characters I remember chicks playing, five of them were basically the same character, and all the players were different and didn't know each other. Leather jacket, some kind of mojo that let them grow claws, a tough and no-nonsense murderhobo personality and some kind of weapon on top of the claws. All of them were the same. All of them.

Are you pink mohawk? Snow crash. Mind you, many say it aged poorly, so your call.

>starting with the second tome
But why?

It made a good impression on me when I first read it, and I think the mild sense of in medias res (which still isn't enough to make it confusing) is very fitting for cyberpunk.
The feeling of being dropped into something without fully knowing what's going on, resolving it through a lot of struggles and then finally realizing that there are still plenty of things you don't understand and you might just have scraped the surface is very useful for cyberpunk games and in particular Shadowrun.
One flaw with reading books for inspiration is that books have a too clear dramatic progression to be very useful for roleplaying game inspiration, and especially in Shadowrun's case - there's a clear start, a clear progression and a clear ending, and the sense of having solved a small bit of the problem while still not understanding the deeper levels applies well to a game like Shadowrun.

Would Shadowrun work for an Android:Netrunner game?

>mage and have 22 karma saved up
Initiate.

>What's the best medium sized drone for customizing? Preferably, with arms.
Direktionssekretar is a two-armed, two-legged, medium-sized humanoid drone which can be upgraded to the equivalent of Strength 8 and Agility 8, all of its limbs have Cyberlimb levels of Capacity for you to fill with upgrades and customizations, and you can even give it Realistic Features to leave it looking like a metahuman.

It's arguably the best, most versatile drone in Rigger 5.0.

>How much would you say a portable drink dispenser would cost? Small enough to stick to the slide mount on my AK.
What, like a hose hooked up to a small reservoir that squirts soda or something?

Should I go for 5e if I want to try out SR with others?

Whats the difference on the priority table between Using special attribute points to increase your magic rating, and the magic rating listed in the priority table?

The best choice is probably to admit that 5e is the most played, but the older editions are the ones that made Shadowrun famous.
If you can't find anything else than 5e, you won't be playing Shadowrun unless you put yourself in for 5e - and even 5e is better than no Shadowrun.
However, 5e has plenty of problems, mostly because of a mixture of a completely new customer base (the older players are still going on 3e, while the people who've ridden along for the new roleplaying boom from 2010 and onwards have grown up with 4e and 5e), CGL and a general push towards more magic and wireless, less 80's/90's cyberpunk.
If I had to give one piece of advice, it would be to try 5e if the game comes up first, but to play 3e without hesitation if there's an opportunity. It's better-written, better-balanced, more classically cyberpunk and less (for lack of a better word) Wil Wheaton, at the cost of being kind of autismal at times. It's pretty retrocompatible with 2e too, giving you two games worth of content and fluff in one, and for me there's just nothing at all that can beat the 2050's as a setting.

>My friend and I are both going to play Face MysAds in a two-PC game. How can we differentiate?
By one of you nerds biting the bullet and playing a decker or something instead. Come the fuck on.

>the people who've ridden along for the new roleplaying boom from 2010 and onwards
4e came out in 2005 (over a decade ago) and 20th Anniversary Edition was 2009.

You're a bit more behind the curve than you want to believe, you little old grognard.

There isn't one, really. The points that come from Metatype can also be used for Edge, that's about it.

The big boom was from 2010 and onwards.
I'm not saying that the games were entirely made for the new wave of roleplayers, just that the players who started out when roleplaying hit it big again grew up with 4e because - surprise - it was recent.
You're really reading into my post, aren't you?

Would you allow your street sam a meat-based equivalent of prank war?

I want to enact the story of the man who adds shotgun attatchments to everything the prank target owns.
