Child of a god who is ashamed of thw copious amounts of incest and violence in his divine family tree who is trying to reinvent himself away from them
Aaron Morales
What races/forms of immortal are available to play in Origins?
Julian Clark
In origins you have human and supposedly rules for playing werewolves and other lower tier superbatural monsters. No word yet on if the ones that are semi human can also be Scions but I am 100% on board the idea of a werewolf scion with the Beasts purview. Become some kind of ultra wolfman
Brody Bailey
Shape-shifters and Berserkers are mentioned in the brief description of what Origins has. I'm guessing they'll also allow us to play various forms of Elves, be it the Alfar or the Sidhe(Seelie or Unseelie), personally I hope we get giant/half-giant spawn that want to help the gods.
Matthew Diaz
Neall said that demihumans can be Scions in one of the interviews that are linked on the Kickstarter page.
Daniel Cox
Child of a god who is interested in the copious amounts of incest and violence in his divine family tree who is trying to get a piece of that action.
Sweet.
Camden Walker
Together they fight titancrime
Levi James
Werewolf guardian of a sacred grove who has fertility and beasts is a go then. Sweet
Dominic Nguyen
So Freddy Mercury is obviously a Scion of the Yazata, but which god is his parent?
Robert Kelly
I don't know enough of their myths to guess. Can you tell us a bit about them?
Gavin Wright
Better be some disads with that shit, or no one'll play human Scions because why bother when playing some freak monster gets all the perks of its own supernaturalness plus Scion stuff on top?
I think this is a door they shouldn't have opened. The cute Cyclops guy from Percy Jackson was OP as fuck for what he was.
Carson Morgan
It'll probably be handled as either a buybin cost which eats up a boon or purview you would otherwise have or mechanical drawbacks. Like enhancement on certain actions, complications on trying not to spazz out and kill a man or something
Dylan Martinez
>Freddie Mercury >Yazata >Not Scion of Apollo Which god would you go with, then?
Hudson Long
I was mostly making a joke about him being Zoroastian, so it'd make sense his divine parent was actually from the religion him and his family followed.
Jacob Bailey
Yeah but his stage name was Mercury
Dylan Bailey
>Yeah but his stage name was Mercury True, but he fits Apollo SO much better.
Christopher Harris
>I was mostly making a joke about him being Zoroastian Yeah, but it falls apart since the Scion Yazata are nothing like the Zoroastran Yazata. They're actually referencing an old Sanskrit term which refers to the Hindu gods.
Cooper Smith
I just wanted to be funny, senpai ;~;7
David Nelson
>Veeky Forums >funny
Brayden Anderson
> At the Origin tier, not a lot of beings that aren't sorcerers or Scions have access to Purviews. Most supernatural entities have a custom Path, which gives them custom Edges, Knacks, and other little powers. Often you can raid their Knacks as a Scion if your Path gives permissions - Scions of Inari can take Kitsune Knacks, etc. > sorcerers or Scions > sorcerers
MAGE SUPREMACY INCOMING
Ethan Peterson
>Inari can take Kitsune knacks Fuck it's werewolf all over again, god dammit, I hope they don't have the "One parent always dies." bullshit
Adam Martin
I'm not sure what you're complaining about. Inari is the divine patron of kitsune, it makes sense for even human scions of that lineage to have powers linked to that relationship. I bet human scions of Poseidon can take cyclops knacks too.
Lincoln Sullivan
I'm talking about something from Werewolf: The apocalypse, don't worry about it man.
Wyatt Parker
>What different race/form of immortal are you looking forward to playing when Origins is out?
Kitsune, of course. Touch fluffy tail, up to nine times.
On a serious note, did you know that Inari has a full 1/3 of the shrines dedicated to him/her? Over 32,000, counting only Shinto shrines with full time priests. If you include all the roadside, field, home, office shrines, and Buddhist temples, it's even larger.
Easton Phillips
As someone who is not familiar with werewolf, what do you mean?
Luis Myers
Inari strong!
Grayson Phillips
Oh it's nothing special, the common shit you'd see in oWoD a lot of the time. Inari/Kitsune types of Fera(Shifting races that protect earth, such as werewolves, bears or lions) Had this built in 'feature' to their race of werecreature where by the hand of fate one of their parents would always dye do to them being born. I can't remember if it was, "Keeping the scales balanced" or some other shit, it was a part of their Asian wank lines. Also I think I remeber Kitsune magic being either 100% garbage or OP.
Easton Ross
Fucking foxes
Angel Sullivan
The good thing is they didn't get the kinda healing every other kind of Fera got, so they where fucking PUSSY BITCHES.
Charles Russell
Why not heals? Is Inari a cruel god?
Jaxson Taylor
You a pussy!
Kayden Green
I want to play a Scion who is really a Titanspawn, since now the Titans are no longer Always Badwrongfun.
Jason Bell
Touch all the fluffy tail.
Open a themed maid cafe for supernaturals that involves touching fluffy tail.
Eh, can't say that I'm thrilled about what I'm seeing of the Storypath system here. And this is the system they intend to relaunch Trinity under, right?
Christian Gutierrez
Yep, probably with a similar descending target number per level of power.
Austin Anderson
*sigh*
Dylan Smith
If it's any consolation, consider that Scion is where they'll probably work out the kinks for the system, and hopefully the Trinity Continuum developers will pay attention to initial Scion reactions when the full PDF is released.
Christopher Parker
What do you not like about this? I find it much better than simply adding more dots.
Nathaniel Jones
Gaia, the spirit of the world, was kinda miffed that the first werefox tried to trick her so she didn't give them healing.
Caleb Murphy
Hah! Fuck you, foxes. How do the Street Sharks fit into this cosmology? That was one of the most surprising parts of VtM: Bloodlines for me and I'm sad that the CofD Changing Breeds material is so garbage. I was pleasantly surprised but not shocked there's a vs. Werewolf moment in the story, but I didn't know there were literal shark-men in the WoD until that game and I still know jack about them.
Jack Mitchell
Those assholes are some of the most powerful shifters. Only problem is they are xenophobic and believe anything not in water ain't their problem. So if a shark wants to live on land and solve problems, they are deemed aberration and are killed on sight by other sharks
Jaxson Wright
Not to make this too /WoDg/ or anything, sorry for the off topic from Scion.
To bring it back to this thread: Demihuman Scions mean that if we can make werewolf or maybe Kitsune Scions we can make SHARKMEN Scions. Praise Poseidon!
Hudson Cook
Like the guy above me said, Weresharks are probably the most horrifying Fera in the game, though luckly there is a faction of them that kinda likes being out of water and people.
William Flores
>So if a shark wants to live on land and solve problems, they are deemed aberration and are killed on sight by other sharks
"Guys, maybe we should do something about the agricultural runoff affecting the rivers that feed into our patch of ocean."
"THINKING ABOUT FARMING IS FOR LANDLUBBER QUEERS. YOU'RE A LANDFUCKER FOR THINKING LIKE THAT. REEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
Liam Cooper
Oh, no, they will totally kill the shit out of you for fucking with the ocean. They'll go up and murder an entire dumping facility.
They just see actually wanting to LIVE on land as creepy and weird, doubly so if you were actually born a human.
Oliver Cooper
But land is where the pizza and raw shanks of cow are to be found.
Luke Edwards
shut up and eat your fucking herring
Zachary Bailey
That sounds like Landwalker talk, fucker. Are you a fucking Landwalker?
Yeah but the vibe i got from them for Revised was "Im on land? I guess its rape time." Like that story they had of three going to land and just fucking each other non stop instead of raping others made me go, lol wut. It also made me not want to play one till they threw that out the window in 20th.
Dominic Morales
Anyone else think OP made a mistake with setting the next tier of goals 15+K over what they had originally? Seems that the KS slowed down a bunch and might not make it, especially since there weren't too many ads and the fan base isn't huge like WoD stuff
Lucas Harris
I dunno, we got plenty as is. I'm surprised it made as much as it has right now really, given the smaller fanbase.
Jacob Lopez
What's the current stretch goal?
Isaiah Lopez
205k for the Yazata pantheon in Companion. I think we'll make that. Kickstarters tend to drag in the middle but jump fitfully at the end. I don't know if it'll make it to 300k but I don't have any doubt we'll get to 205 at least.
Nicholas Morgan
I'm just happy we got cult stuff in.
Aaron Green
Is the ascension in tiers something that has an in universe element? Like could a hero who wants to stay a hero intentionally never become a demigod or is it something that just kind of happens?
Brandon Lopez
Legend progression is natural but I think the jump to God takes some kind of act of apotheosis. Which we've seen required death in the case of Hercules and Julius Caesar
Michael Ortiz
They are making mechanics so that you can stay at a level indefinitely
Leo Moore
Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaarks
Nolan Murphy
No.
William Brown
Was that supposed to represent a megalodon?
Bentley Cook
Dunno.
Daniel Sanders
A think a megalodon was significantly larger.
Aaron Allen
Larger than a shark whose mouth encloses the entire cage there? I've been to an aquarium which had a live size megalodon jaw replica on display when I was a kid, it was huge but not bigger than that. Looks like that was a whole shark week 'what if we shared the ocean with the BIGGEST SHARK EVER' episode thing.
Lucas Peterson
Bear in mind we don't know how large a meg could actually get. Fossil record's weak when it comes to factual sizing of the sea critters due to lack of surviving evidence. Our sizing estimation is basically guesswork.
Daniel Brooks
>Touch fluffy tail, up to nine times. Lewd
Parker Brown
So, anons, do you think that "Japanese Crown Prince" will be a viable Calling for a Scion of Amaterasu?
Dylan Ross
It's as anime as possible. I'd say no if someone brought it to my table, just because there is a whole lot of weight attached to it that will warp the entire game around Prince Snowflake.
Michael Scott
Probably but it depends on if the GM wants to deal with the social implications there. If they want to go full gonzo and the group is onboard, sure. If everyone else wants to do a somewhat darker tale of these heroes fighting against the monsters in the world's underbelly without worrying about paparazzi and the Japanese Imperial family maybe not.
Dominic Butler
Wow, this thread is dead without something new from the KS updates to argue over. Lame but not exactly unexpected given the slow content drip.
jakki, how did your OPP forum project go?
Thomas Sanchez
What pantheon would Lilith be in, if she were a goddess?
I know she's probably titanspawn or something, but if she wasn't.
Owen Torres
Given her linking to the Adam and Eve story...Caananite?
Hudson Wilson
I mean, I would call Lilith a Created scion of YHWH along with Adam and Eve. I don't think any of the three made it as far as Godhood, either.
Anthony Morris
If he wants to use the etymology of the name Lilith (or even incorporate ki sikil lil la ke) she could be a scion of Inanna that jumped pantheons upon apotheosis.
James Hill
Mesopotamian, actually. The first few books of the bible draw more from there than from Canaan.
Jack Thomas
then what is her mesopotamian counterpart?
Dylan Reed
>Mesopotamian, actually. The first few books of the bible draw more from there than from Canaan. The Canaanite religions were heavily based on the Mesopotamian faiths themselves (as were the holy books, natch). The Hebrew faith was a radical offshoot of the Canaanites.
Liam Watson
Lilitu.
Sebastian Russell
I'm a bit confused by the Kickstarter rewards- if I spend $40 bucks, I get the Scion Origins physical book, but not the Heros pdf... which I get with a lesser reward. I was thinking of going full 85, but apparently that, while it does get the physical copies (but not the PDF), doesn't get the reference screen which sounded nice. Why do I lose stuff for spending MORE money? I mean I kinda get it going from 55 to 85 since I get a physical copy and that more than balances out a reference screen, but why don't I get a heroes PDF with 55?
Also no idea what this print on demand shit is.
Isaac Rodriguez
Alright. How different was Lilitu from Lilith anyway?
Aaron Hill
Less importance in the great scheme of things. It was just a demon who happened to look like a beautiful woman with bird wings who liked to eat babies.
Tyler Reed
Depends. Later versions of her were a disease spirit that would possess people and make them sick. Earlier versions were possibly a wind goddess of some sort.
It was quite common in those days for gods that were no longer popular to be rewritten as demons. Either by the believers of a rival deity, or by a rival faith.
Austin Miller
thank you.
Grayson King
drivethrurpg.com/pub_pod_faq.php >Print on Demand (POD) is a term for digital print technology that allows for very small quantities of books to be printed at one time, even down to a single copy print run. POD allows books to be printed as needed, per sale, rather than printed in a large quantity or "run" and stored in a warehouse to be sold from inventory.
>You can add on additional physical copies of the Scion: Origin book to any pledge that is already shipping a physical book by manually adding the appropriate amount on the pledge page: >+ $35 for each additional copy of the Scion: Origin book (US) >+ $45 for each additional copy of the Scion: Origin book (Canada & EU) >You can add on the Scion 2nd Edition Reference Screen to any reward tier that offers a physical book: >+ $15 for the Scion 2nd Edition Reference Screen, a sturdy three-panel screen featuring beautiful art from Scion 2nd Edition on the outer side, and on the inside there's a selection of charts and other info to make referencing a little bit easier.
I can't tell you why they've set up the reward tiers the way they have. But if you're backing, you can always comment on the Kickstarter page and ask.
