「Better Than You」

All stats begin at D, except Learning which is F(because there's not much he can do to evolve the power beyond what it already is, not that he needs to).

「Better Than You」 is a fairly small Stand, no more than 4 feet high, it's eyes low and fairly close to it's nose, so it always has to look up at people, and a mouth that's frozen in a frown, with a hint of fear and envy noticeable. Beyond that, 「Better Than You」 appears as a pale white human, perfectly average in almost every way, almost like a mannequin.

「Better Than You」's ability is simple. When he strikes a person, or their Stand if they have one, he steals a bit of what makes them strong(ie, he drains their stats). The target stat drops up to 2 ranks(A to C for example), and 「Better Than You」 gains up to 2 ranks in the drained stat, no higher than A. 「Better Than You」 can only be draining a single stat from any given person at a time. After affecting someone, a glass orb orbits 「Better Than You」. Destroying it, either himself or someone else attacking it, returns that drained stat to the target.

「Better Than You」 also has the ability 「Anything You Can Do」, allowing it to drain Stand powers. 「Better Than You」 and the target now have a half-strength version of the target's original power.

Drains from both 「Better Than You」's normal drains and 「Anything You Can Do」's power drain lasts for up to 2 hours before the glass orb automatically shatters, returning the stolen power(regardless of how far away the target is). However, should the target die while drained, the glass orb shatters, and 「Better Than You」 gains the drained stat or power permanently, typically gaining some mark on himself depending on what power was gained(flame decals for a fire power, an hourglass for a time-related power, etc).

Pretty based desu, sort of like Bohemian Rhapsody.

As 「Better Than You」's permanent stats increase, he gets taller and buffer, maxing out at about 7 feet and built like....well, a Jojo character. His eyes slide up his face as his size increases, now always looking down at people, his frown twisted into a smirk, a feeling of superiority from now being strong enough to take on anyone.

「Better Than You」 belongs to Remington Buxley the Third, a spoiled rotten rich boy who basically had everything handed to him on a silver platter from the day he was born, never had to work or put any effort into anything in his life, and feels his "noble" upbringing automatically puts him above the "lower class." The thought that there's something, anything he can't have or do infuriates him, especially if it's something he can't just throw money at to solve.

So much in fact, that he becomes a serial killer, finding people with "talents" he wants, using his Stand to drain it from them, then kill them. The corpses appear as shriveled husks of their former selves, almost mummified.

The fact that there are other Stand users with unique abilities he doesn't have is what triggers 「Anything You Can Do」 to manifest.

Designed to be a potential recurring enemy, where he's simple enough at first, but gets increasingly dangerous the longer he's allowed to run free and continue building his power, especially once he discovers he can steal other Stand powers.

The year is 1985. Jock Johnstone is a penniless artist living in the gutters of Edinburgh, moving among people for whom drugs, violence and despair are all equal currency. His dreams are fraught with visions of a man he shared his childhood with, Danny Borland. One day, he catches his old friend's eye once again, but Danny appears not to recognise him - he's doing well for himself, with a house in the city center. Danny has turned cold. The world has turned.

Okay that's surprisingly fitting for the name.

Current works in progress after 「Better Than You」

「Star Spangled Banner」, the masked vigilante of Justice.
「Fly Like an Eagle」, a low-level mob boss
「Disco Inferno」 and 「Propane Nightmares」, twin brothers who work as muscle for the above.
「Citizen Kane」, a bloodline-bound wraith that isn't actually a Stand, but is an unrelated supernatural being that manifests similarly to one.
「Let the Music Play」, also not a Stand, but a top secret government-funded research program that's researching how Stands came into being, and attempting to find the means to replicate it if possible.

I should work on the actual setting sometime.

Well the first name had to be changed because sometimes the music wiki takes you to an instrument instead. But yeah I managed to get a pretty fitting name for the power.

Jock falls into a deep depression, and wanders aimlessly in the warmth of the shadows, until he is abducted by - of all things - a vampire. In his drug-addled state, Jock is incapable of fighting back effectively, though a youth spent as an amateur boxer and a casual career of barroom slugfests have kept him in good condition given his lifestyle.

Kepts like a pet and cruelly tortured by a coven of vampires, Jock almost believes he sees Danny's face amongst those of his captors - but that's ridiculous, isn't it? Obsessed with the idea, Jock becomes more lucid and his resolve grows - eventually manifesting as his Stand:

「HEART OF LOTHIAN」

Using his new Stand, Jock manages to surprise his tormentors, enough to make a daring escape. In this confontation, Danny reveals himself as leader of the vampires, a decadent laird of his private hell. Jock gatches a glimpse of Danny's own Stand, but is too focused on survival to take interest.

Back on the streets, bloodied and bruised, and filled with an iron resolve to figure out what had happened to his childhood friend, Jock makes use of his shadiest contacts, including a dodgy guy known only as Speedo.

「HEART OF LOTHIAN」is comparable to other JoJo punchghosts like Star Platinum and Crazy Diamond. Tall and bulky in build, it is a high-power Stand that can punch through steel with relative ease. It's quite slow, though, until Jock sobers up properly, both medically and emotionally and not particularly precise. Like Jock, it's prone to wild haymakers over quick jabs, lashing out in burning rage. However, like Jock, it is very solid, and difficult to truly hurt.
「HEART OF LOTHIAN」can take a pounding.

「HEART OF LOTHIAN」's unique ability is tied to Jock's artist's soul: blood splatters either from or caused by Jock will form themselves into useful images or text. More on that...

This unique ability of 「HEART OF LOTHIAN」allows Jock to find revelation in pain, and guidance in blood. Blood drops will form a path, sprays on a wall from a vicious punch will reveal vital information, and in special cases when enough blood collects, it can show disjointed premonitions of the future. The final gift of a dying friend reveals the path to vengeance.

(I like the parallel between one man turned blood drinker, and another turned blood prophet)

Throughout his "adventure" meeting the Stand users of Edinburgh Town, more and more of his sanguine guidance points towards Danny. Jock knows he must confront Danny, and if necessary kill him - by any means available.

(other Stands will be named after 80's music - mostly british groups and artists such as The Human League, a Flock of Seagulls, or Roxy Music, the latter contributing Avalon.)

When Jock next encounters Danny, they clash in an epic battle of Stands, and Danny's Stand is revealed to be named「BITTER SUITE」.

「BITTER SUITE」is an extension of the user's cruel will. Its ability allows Danny to "void" something within its range. By which I mean Danny can selectively erase something from existence as long as it's within the range of 「BITTER SUITE」. Should 「BITTER SUITE」move away from whatever it erased, then it will come back and act as if no time had passed - it essentially has an anti-existence field. 「BITTER SUITE」 is fast and precise enough to erase a bullet as it travels, but it and its user CAN be surprised - or caught unaware.

After a tense battle, Jock is defeated and barely escapes with his life. While recovering, Jock's 「HEART OF LOTHIAN」responds to Jock's ever clearer mental state, and as a result grows faster and more precise, more in line with Jock's boxer background. Jock continues his investigations, including more run-ins with Stand users, some friend, some foe. Jock also learns from the local Zeppeli, Gino, about Vampires and how to defeat them. Mary King's Close, in the bowels of the city, is revealed to be the heart of Edinburgh's vampire population, responsible for the legends of its haunting.

Gino trains Jock in Hamon, and Jock learns to control blood splatters more effectively, including making his blood overflow with Hamon such that it becomes poison to vampires. Blood becomes Jock's weapon as well as his guide.

That sums up everything that jumps off the top of my head, right now. 「HEART OF LOTHIAN」has a range of D, btw.

Ok, no, one last thing.

「A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS」. Literally a flock of seagulls, co-operating maliciously, sharing a Stand.

I'd say just straight up make it THE BIRDS with the stand basically giving them a hive mind.

This is something I thought up quite some time ago but never put down before.

「Bull of Heaven」

「Bull of Heaven」 takes the shape of an androgynous minotaur-man wearing a pair of large, 80s era headphones, the sides of which have horns growing from them. (Think Magician's Red, but a bull)

「Bull of Heaven」 is not particularly strong, or quick, and cannot match most Stands in a straight fight.

Its ability, however, allows the user to replicate the source of any sound they can currently hear, with the only limitation being that the replica disappears when the sound does, and only one replica can exist at a time.

If, for example, there was a TV playing a war documentary nearby, the user could replicate something from it for as long as the object in the film continued to make noise. They could produce a tank, but only for as long as they can hear it. If the scene changes to one without the tank, or they're otherwise rendered unable to hear it (Deafness, the sound being drowned out by something else) it disappears.

「Black Mirror」is a tool stand that takes the appearance of a shiny black skullcap and goggles worn by its user.

「Black Mirror」 can draw inanimate objects into itself and store them in its user's eye. The object will be fixed in the user's vision, but ceases to exist in the real world. Stored objects can be released back into the world by operating 「Black Mirror」 in reverse.

Since objects are stored by 「Black Mirror」 as they appeared in the user's vision, they retain the same relative scale when they're released. So storing an object seen at a distance and releasing it when focusing on something nearby will cause the object to shrink, and vice versa.

There's no theoretical limit to the number of objects the user can store in their eye, but since each object continues to occupy space in the user's vision storing too many will seriously limit their visual acuity.

So it's really strong with headphones, then.

What happens if it tries to replicate a simulated sounds? Lots of sounds on TV are effects, and weren't actually produced by the things they're supposed to represent.

Finally, if the user hears one could it replicate enemy stands or stand abilities?

It replicates the actual source instead of the assumed one. So yeah, the user would probably carry around a mix tape with sounds of really crazy things.

Replicating other Stands is something I'm unsure of. If the Stand makes a sound, possibly, but they would have an incredibly small window to do so.

This seems like either a villain Stand, or for a character that's not very bright.

Hey, does anyone know a good way to stream music for a game over roll20? I've been working on a JoJo campaign for a while and I have a lot of ideas for doing stuff like music cues for stand introductions and fight scenes. However, I can't find a good way to change music on the fly on my end and have the other players get it in real time.

I'm currently running the campaign in Wushu, since it's rules light and pretty freeform. It also means I don't have to make really functional stats and mechanics for most of the stands, because fuck that.

Abilities: “Poison Rock’n’Roll” takes the form of a simple painting on a worn scroll. The painting depicts a winter scene, with a lamp-lit sidewalk on the edge of a forest taking up the right side of the painting. The left is mostly left blank white. “Poison Rock’n’Roll” powers manifest whenever a person views it, this person is now“Poison Rock’n’Roll”’s target. Once “Poison Rock’n’Roll” is viewed, it will leave an imprint on the area is was located at when it was viewed, appearing as a color reversal of the original painting. The target will feel sudden mild paranoia and an urge to stare at “Poison Rock’n’Roll”’s imprint. If the target resists these urges and ignores “Poison Rock’n’Roll”, the target will be afflicted with a terrible, debilitating chill that slowly grows, ending when they defeat the user, keep “Poison Rock’n’Roll”’s imprint in a direct line of sight, or die of hypothermia.

I want to run Jojo in FATE/FAE, the system looks perfectly suited to Jojo. It isn't 100% necessary, but has anyone fit the Stand stat system into it? If so, how? I might want to use it.
