Where the fuck can i get a good starting force to play against another starting force? Aliexpress?

Get Not!Epic stuff from third party manufacturers like Onslaught, summon Resinbro here, or hang out on the Taccom forums until they are sure you aren't a snitch and give you sources.

Aliexpress is good and cheap.
Proxies are also good and cheap.
Original e-bay purchases will ruin you.

But there is no equivalent of an Assault on Black Reach or whatever-box? Could someone atleast provide me with two lists so i know what to buy and play against some friend cunt i might have?

Forgeworld are doing a rehash (albeit a different scale). Just wait until that gets released because otherwise you're just wasting your autismbucks.

I'd reccomend lurking the Taccom forums for lists and advice.

Also, there are different rulesets in use.
Epic: Armageddon is the last ruleset from GW
Net Epic and Net Epic:Armageddon are two very good fanmade and, more importantly, fanmaintained rulesets.
Might want to have a look at those.

Rubbish. Nobody knows if and when the thing is going to drop and god knows about the rules quality. The Epic community has existed for years online and people are not going to throw away their armies just because GW changed the scale of Epic for the fifth time.

If the new rules are shit, so be it.
I'll have new shiny models to play NetE:A with.

There are people in this thread who rather spend boatloads of shekels rather than buying recasts.

I would like to do this but Forge World is expensive and probably won't have an entry kit
I'll try but if i don't get quick results i'm not gonna pursue it more

>quick results
This is not the game for you senpai.

It is, fuckboy. Now tell me which variation i should go for.

It's their "Specialist Games" baby and from what I've heard, it's gonna be initially released with knights and titans with the possibility of infantry and other vehicles added in the future. Sort of a mech warrior sort of deal.

It's confirmed it will drop fag. Nothing I said was untrue and if you can't see the logic behind advising someone not to get into a game that was abandoned by its developer a decade ago then you're a sperg.

NetEpic: Armagedon if you are man enough.

>if you can't see the logic behind advising someone not to get into a game that was abandoned by its developer a decade ago then you're a sperg.
I can't hear you over the sound of actually having played the game for the last 10 years or so.

I'll need two forces that would have a good reason to duke it out between each others... that i can actually get models for. Are IG and CSM available among recasters?

Also
>if you are man enough
Bet you couldn't say that ten times fast if i blew you, fag

Pretty much every faction is available.
I'd recommend IG and orcs since they are both forgiving starter armies and proxies and recasts are prolific.

a-are y-you offering me oral sex a-user?

IG and CSM it is, Orks are for gays.
What are you gonna do, stop me from undoing your belt buckle? Didn't think so, loverboy ;)

Hi guys - Epic starter guide here, mostly about Armageddon:
docs.google.com/document/d/1RIQ7sMMk5QeG0YrHyZYVqR4phVrlQaqYhfTNUA7B4c4/edit?usp=sharing

Trolls under the Bridge (eBay or email them), Vanguard, and Onslaught 3rd-party minis is the best way to start. If there's anything on Aliexpress (other than a few titans and tanks), I must be trying the wrong search words.

After the C&Ds a few years back, none of us are revealing our sources to people until they've posted some painted minis in the forums and PM'ed us.

You're assuming I don't think you play and have just a spiffing good time, which I do. What I'm saying here, right, if you had read any of what I said, is that it's silly to START playing it now. THe guy looks like he has one other person to play it with, which means he probably won't play it very often, which means he's going to spend a lot of money on teeny tiny space marines that he'll likely never get his moneys worth of gaming from.

Hope you keep having fun playing your niche, OOP game tho :^)

Er, the editions table vanished. Here we go again:

Pretty good my man, i'll be playing Minigeddon with the NetEpic Armageddon rules.
And if it isn't compatible i'll fucking make it compatible

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP

Oh I read what you said. If your reasoning for not starting now is the cost then read the rest of the thread. Recasters, proxies and notMarines.
The rule set is seriously one of the best out there atm and you can have as much fun playing using cheap dystopian wars proxies.

I know (you) are not going to play it, this is for the potential players you are trying to dissuade.

Totally. One of the best mini game rule sets, period. Play it with names of the units written in crayon on ripped up squares of paper, if you don't want to bother tracking down proxies.

No, there were only such boxes for 1st-3rd editions, and 3rd was back in 1997 (Epic 40,000). I will try to develop some lists in the coming week or two - I'll start a new thread if there isn't one.

Basic advice: if playing 4th ed. (Armageddon), start at 2,000 points without aircraft or war engines, but plan for 3,000 points. Here's a generic(ish) Imperial Guard list:
traitor-legion.appspot.com/chooser.html?list=IG_steelLegion_NETEA&force=Generic Imperial Guard~512~31x1~513~27x1~514~32x1~515~11x9~12x1~505~505~502~41x1~507~15x1~509~519

It uses more upgrades than usual, and Vultures aren't that common a choice. But I like it and it can be made with Trolls under the Bridge and Vanguard Mini proxies.

Space Marine list:
traitor-legion.appspot.com/chooser.html?list=SM_codex_NETEA&force=Generic Space Marines~543~11x1~18x1~22x1~543~11x1~22x1~534~17x1~21x2~555~549~544~533~14x5~539~11x1~538~24x4~532

The Terminators teleport and the Devastators garrison (so no Rhinos). I'm not so good at ork list building - nor Tau or Dark Eldar, who have good proxies (Onslaught). Onslaught's Sisters are, oddly enough, a better match for the Space Marine list.

I'd definitely get the new titans, but everything smaller than titans might not happen for a long time. And it sounds like the new rules will be best for smallish titan/knight battles. If you want to recreate the Siege of Terra, I bet Epic Armageddon rules will be better. (Actually, Epic 40,000 would probably be even better for a really big battle.)

So go ahead and buy 6mm non-titans, and get to know the Epic Armageddon rules. They'll still be useful for a while.

Buying Epic now is assbackwards from anything else. Minis from the 1990 or 1991 line are the most common, then the late 90s Epic 40k stuff, then finally 2000s EA stuff is basically non-existent unless you bought it at the time. Proxy makers ignore some of the most pricey stuff, like Tyranid Harridans or close approximations of IG tanks, too.

Bad pic of what I'm working on currently. Also rebasing some nids. I hate basing and am terrible at it. Its also infuriatingly time consuming. I'm using a fine white sand, and have to soak it in watered down chaos black. First world problems.

Word of warning - Vanguard's proxies are a little larger than the originals or most 3rd party minis. Unofficial/illegal Horus Heresy minis are also larger. Heck, they might actually work with FW's future 8mm minis (which might be bigger still, but it's hard to predict).

But... not-Mastodon coming to join the not-Sicaran and not-Sicaran Venator.

GW's own stuff isn't even consistent.

I hope the new game is a good titan simulator. We never had a good one of those.

Bump

Who sells epic on Aliexpress?

new to this, i have a similar inquiry as the last dude
where should i start? Is 2000pts without engines like a previous user suggested good? Is there a CSM list?

I found literarily one dude, and he only sells a few units from various armies, not enough to create even one finished army at any point range.

There's multiple lists, you can find them at
tp.net-armageddon.org
As mentioned earlier.

You can find the rules somewhere there, too. Net-Epic Armageddon is NOT a fan game, it is a fan maintained game. It is just the official rules and lists from GW's Epic Armageddon with minor balance changes (slight points adjustments for example).

"Black Legion" is the generic CSM. If you're learning the game, you don't really need to min-max, just follow the chart and take what looks cool. I don't think Black Legion has any "trap" options, the way Space Marines can. No War Engines sounds a little lame, but that's just because when I got back into painting Epic, I had an awesome Tyranid Heirodule model sitting around. For 2k, either no engines, or one engine in the 200-300 range sounds good, yes.

The guy who dissuaded people from trying to get in isn't necessarily wrong. I only got back in because I like the look of the models. When I play, its because I loaned a second army to my opponent.

Also, after you read the rules, watch some youtube videos, they will help the rules sink in. At least, they did for me.

I will, too, be loaning models to my opponent. Where can i find them for purchase, though?

Proxy makers like Onslaught miniatures and Vanguard/Defeat in Detail make great infantry and some vehicles. Ebay does have good deals mainly on mass produced plastics from early editions. Do not overpay on ebay.

>I can buy IG from Vanguard and CSM from Onslaught
Feels good, man. This really gives me the ability to get the project off the ground, cheers!

Good luck user!

Would basing my infantry on round bases fuck me over? I prefer the look but everything I've seen has infantry on rectangular bases.

Thank you sempai

Rules for basing is pretty allowing. Plenty of people have round based armies. Just pick the one type you prefer.

Woohoo that makes it easier. Thanks!

I am such a sucker for very small scale miniatures.

Anyone else enjoy pocket 40k?

I'm just excited to be able to afford a Titan.

Working on my Baron and paladins.
Post your shit, anons.

Small war engines are fine, but 2k battles are usually n00b games so it's nice to avoid war engine and aircraft special rules.

The Space Marine list works better with a Thunderhawk or two, and Warhounds are common too.

That is a great terrain piece!

So, I've seen the Gargoyles thrown around for use as Harridans, and gave it no heed because their heads are obviously too big and look out of scale. But with a head swap, and new arms, maybe. Could be good?

Stop sexualizing awoo!
