Has anybody tried using Malcador squadrons in their legion lists? I'm running Terror Assault at 3k and a squadron of them would be a great way to use the one heavy slot I get. Thinking 2-3 with demo cannon and battle cannon.
Christopher Ortiz
Are legion Inductee-Automata meant to be in the scheme of the legion, or of whatever FW the Legion nabbed them from?
Adam Reyes
yes
Robert Johnson
3 in a squadron could be pretty nasty, if you take the commander upgrade. >Fire three heavy bolters at a squad of marines >RAW grants tank hunters to the tanks, even if the shoot at nothing else together.
Alexander Price
No dubs except my own were rolled last thread.
Dubs still pic one of the following Legions and if loyalist or traitor (no Blackshields/Shattered Legions) for me.
Death Guard Iron Warriors Salamanders
Camden Baker
Are lightning claws worth it on tartaros terminators? They just seem so expensive at 15pts. Maybe have one or two, and have combi weapons and fists on the rest?
John Martin
Don't do Iron Warriors, they're boring
Luke Cooper
a bit of both
James Flores
Rolled 10 (1d20)
All three. Loyalist shattered legion.
Michael Cruz
Grab a power spade, brother.
Owen Roberts
Tell us what you like from them. Is it their "forwards no matter what" theme? I'm assuming you're loyalist.
Dylan Young
WAAc set up is 2 chainfists, 3 lightning claws, 4 volkite chargers,1 heavy flamer per 5 marines
Jason Butler
traitor death guard
Leo Myers
I thought the heavy flamer was a bad option? Not thay non, I just saw someone saying that in a thread recently so I'l wondering.
Aiden Watson
- Death Guard for their used look and the ability to run terminator only lists and still be somewhat effective as it seems. - IW because of bitterness... and because they have a "sledgehammer-flavor". - Salamanders because I like the Color, the dread Character and I had some 40k Salamanders about a decade or so ago.
I actually have an IF 40k Army, but I'm bored by them and don't consider expanding into 30k with them.
Levi Barnes
:'( But we're really cool in 30k.
Connor Collins
> the dread Character ?
Nathan Reyes
>six lascannons >three multimeltas/havoc launchers/various pintle weapons >three demolishers >three battlecannons With the command upgrade, 1055 points. I mean, you could do worse things with your single heavy support slot, but you better ensure nothing like a melta support squad deepstrikes nearby
Adam Morris
With it you can face just about anything, and also people are less willing to charge in that conscript squad if i can kill 6 with one weaponn in overwatch.
Justin Turner
It depends on what you're fighting, against massed marines they're situational but expensive, and you're able to sweep so even swords ought to be able to sweep. I run Night Lords teleporting cataphractii with a chainfist and four fists as late-game cleaners to remove squads from objectives and take them once the enemy fucks off. 220 points well spent to snatch an enemies victory points and take them for my own
Connor Campbell
Cassian Dracos
Luke Sullivan
Cassian Dracos Reborn looks pretty much like a Dreadnaught for me, given he's not an IC but he's got a name and so on.
Chase Parker
Cassian Dracos, the first Legion master of the Salamanders, now in a Dread forged by Lord Vulkan himself. Inmune to melta, lance and other shit, with IWND. And then you Obsidian forge it... He survives Istvaan
Camden Reed
I ran 5-man squads of teleporting Imperial Fists with 1 Chainfist, 3 Power Fists, 2 combi-plasma, and 1 plasma blasters. I can field 25 terminators in 3 to 5 squads. They tend to make really fuck up the enemy's heavy infantry and can threaten armour too.
Luke Watson
For PotL, DG can have 30 footslogging Deathshroud, 9 Grave Wardens+Typhon in a Spartan and Mortarion @ 2500
I've no idea whether this would even do anything against any list, but that's 60 wounds of running terminators
Dylan Stewart
>25 teleporters Thats crazy, i'm the NL guy and i can never do more than one teleport squad since they're probably not gonna turn up till turn 4 with my rolling, which i've learned to utilise properly for late-game objective snatching. What else do you use in your army to survive until the hammers strike?
Levi Barnes
Is he in the same Dreadnought that Bray'arth Ashmantle is?
Liam Rogers
I would say salamanders. They seem like the one you truly love.
Jeremiah Nelson
Ok that's a lot of termies
Benjamin King
2 to 3 units of 20-man tactical squads with attached apothecaries, a couple dreadnoughts. I'm very lucky in that my play group are basically all playing out of BaC or BoP boxes with some tanks from 40k so we don't have to deal with AP 3 Large Blast spam. We're still having a grand old time playing massive infantry battles.
Robert Watson
Accounts like yours make me think a LR Proteus / Damocles Rhino is almost mandatory when relying on teleports
Asher Reyes
Children of Sicarius or The Thirteenth Wolf anyone?
Elijah Green
I plan on a similare loadout for my 5 man cataphractii, but I'm trying to find a use for the tartaros from Prospero.
The lightning claws lets you re-roll wounds and adds an extra attack, seems nice for munching normal marines and later sweep with tartaros. Power swords are cheaper thought, so I don't know if the bonuses are worth the points.
I'd take combi plas myself, but seems like a flexible loadout. Not a fan of the flamer thought, but the overwatch is kind of nice when I think about it.
Eli King
I think LClaw + Volkite > 2Claws
Isaiah Ortiz
Still sounds like the meta over there is rather tame. Where I play most people also mostly build their armies using B@C and BoP, but if you got units in reserve that don't turn up in time your army gets fucking murdered.
Benjamin Mitchell
Colour isn't an argument, but Salamanders are THE sledgehammer
Ayden Evans
When your entire army is teleporting, flying or outflanking, its necessary to have it for reliability. Especially if you have enemy meme legionaries with their reserves denial shenanigans around. For me, since its only a tenth of my army most games, its not mandatory to have them turn up turn 2, and it can be a great way to snatch a victory when both sides big guns have been ground away in turns 3/4. When you can do four-five wounds more than your enemy then sweep with a squad thats something like 75 points cheaper, its better. Lightining claws are good on cataphracts/indomitus, but its not necessary on Tartaros due to sweeping meaning you only need to take of a few wounds before running them down. Basically, four cheap squads is probably better than three kitted out ones in the vast majority of cases
Brayden Martin
>Colour isn't an argument Eh? I would hate to paint a couple of dozen models in a scheme I didn't like.
Charles Ortiz
oh like that i thought he meant they had a dread character in the literal meaning
Carson Watson
Thanks for replying exactly how I would have done while I was taking a shower :^)
Noah Thompson
Ok, definitely starting Xana II Mechanicum to get into 30k after asking a few questions here over the last week or so. I'll have an excuse to spend some money come Christmas and my War Convocation is all done save the Knight.
Thing is, I'm torn between Legio Cybernetica and Ordo Reductor for my starting army, so I was planning on something like this for my starting buy.
Legio Cybernetica, 2 Castellax with Darkfire, Scoria, Magos Dominus.
Expand later with a Lightning or 3 Vorax to run with Scoria.
Sound good for a game around 1500-2k pts? Going to paint them in Taghmata Scoria colours, obviously. This means I can field everything with a primary+ allied detachment, and it all seems to work together quite well.
Ryan Richardson
He should be a character. He's the former legion master, who survived all the way from their inception and exemplary battle in the Earth's mantle until a few years before Vulkan's arrival, he also has a Warlord Trait, an alternate profile with Cybermancy and survives Istvaan. But he already had 40k sallies and he's literally saying he likes the scheme. That means it wasn't a problem. Unless he doesn't want to repeat that colour, but had he meant so he'd have said the same stuff he said about the Fists. But it's a good point, yeah.
Colton Roberts
Tartaros are for purging scoring, not fighting other elites. Claws are good.
William Reed
>Scoria, Magos Dominus wat, do you mean you'll use the dominus model for Scoria? With Mechanicum, it pays to specialise. Reductor through scoring tanks, cybernetica through saturation of robots
Hunter Lee
You beat me to it.
Jayden Campbell
That could work, I have not considered a single claw.
Good point!
Lucas Lopez
Speaking of Deathshroud, would I be fucking nuts to footslog these terminators? They seem like they'd be better at it than every other variety due to their wounds and their ability to run and sweep, plus fluffy
Leo Fisher
The true problem is, that I never was that undecided about what Marine army to get next (I had BT, Salamanders, Jiffies, still have said above IF) . I'm torn between the 3 since several weeks. I have a B@C and a BoP Box sitting here as a cheap foundation for my future army so that I can pump the real $ into non-generic FW units, but I can't decide for shit. That's why I decided to let the luck of somebody else on this board decide, since I like all 3.
Bumping myself in the name of the Emperor... or the former Warmaster.
Logan Baker
Well they don't fear Phosphex, that's a thing. The only thing that could hurt them would be regular Medusae. If you get rid of that, then you're auric.
Hunter Jackson
You both beat me to it.
Jackson Hernandez
It depends on what you're sending your LClaws at, since an entire squad is expensive. You can give a squad lightning claws for shredding and an extra attack, or you can gain another two termies and a meltabomb/powerfist. If you expect to run into any enemy termies, take Powerfists so you can kill them easily. Powerfists are great because they instant death 2w guys like Justaerin, deathshroud and firedrakes, all of which are ded'ard. Beware anything that strikes with AP2 at initiative though less stupid than most but still stupid. You could Pride and MSU them for like ten units of three for 1250 points, and they'd still be pretty capable. Medusa will fucking murder them, but if you have ten squads and some AV support it could work
Jacob Bell
Death Guard
Lucas Thomas
Death Guard, then.
Dylan Edwards
No cups for me? I-it's alright. W-who needs honours and medals, r-right?
Julian Stewart
Damn it you three!
Ryder Howard
Dubs decided. DG it is. What allegiance shall I choose?
Hunter Clark
neither
Nolan Parker
Go full traitor, then you can access their cool units. They're kinda lackluster without their Primarch or their unique Terminators
Connor Cook
Go Traitor, burn the loyaleests from their holes with poison and phosphex
Cameron Nelson
Do you need to? Morturg is awesome, so are Rask and Typhon and Mortarion. Pick both But you have to vote for Mortarion's Unbroken blades in the polls! >strawpoll.me/10558764 >strawpoll.me/11458318
Neither Deathshroud nor Grave Wardens are traitor specific ;^)
Charles Wood
Loyalist.
Grayson Rogers
Well I don't know what I've been smoking then. I always assumed Deathshroud were traitor only since they're Morty's bodyguard.
Asher Collins
we've been wondering why they're not since book one
Xavier Diaz
Heavy weapons support marines are just the worst. 135pts for 15 heavy bolter shots on 5 normal marines and take up a heavily contested slot. Whereas quad heavy bolters are 120pts for 18 twin linked HB shots, T7 from shooting, and can lose 3 marines before losing effective unit firepower. I hope FW sorts that out.
Anthony Reed
Yeah but heavy wepons squads dont get their draw from HBs, HBs are shit
People take HW squads for Autocannons, lascannons, and maybe even culverins if you like CHOOMs
Xavier Edwards
Thinking of having Volkite Calivers/Chargers in my army. My thought is to convert a synaptic disintegrator into something more Mars "techy".
Thoughts of my masterpiece in Paint?
Jaxon Bell
What legion has the best banter
Asher Rogers
Volkites are already sexy, they dont need changing.
But if you insist on it, your paint masterpiece does look pretty cool
Owen Rogers
Just use the loyalist DG psyker dude and inflitrate three Deathshroud, have fun.
Gavin Brown
Iron Warriors, Raven Guard are Australian/oceanian so they've probably got sick bantz, Kharn's a pretty clever guy too
Noah Hughes
Who's Alpharius?
Dylan Sanders
IW have good bitter-banter, as WB already know
but the Khan's god-tier roast on Fulgrim provides enough bants for the entire WS legion
William Hughes
In the A Thousand Sons novel, is the snake demon that Magnus deals with Tzeentch itself or one of its goons?
James Walker
it is more of a question of money for me. I can easily get some leftover disintegrators than buying from Forgeworld. Volkites are sexy though so it is more of a solution than dislike for the volkite look.
Ayden Carter
Voted, and I think I'm gonna go traitor for a change after being Loyal for nearly 18 years in the hobby.
Logan Johnson
I honestly want to make every legion except Word Bearers. I will have 15 Tartaros and 50 Mk III left over from my BoP boxes. What's a good traitor legion to take advantage of those models?
I also have the bits for 5 missile launchers, 13 melta guns, 13 plasma guns, 15 flamers, and 15 power armour-sized combi-weapons.
Justin James
I'm thinking of modeling and casting some combi-pistol bolters, would anyone be interested?
Tyler Fisher
One of Tzeentch greater daemons I bet.
Cameron Torres
Emperor's children, traitor IH, DG, IW, WE with chainaxes
Zachary Scott
lunar wolves when they aren't sucking daddies cock
Logan Johnson
No, Scoria will be converted from a whole bunch of stuff, the Dominus model among them. The extra Dominus is there for when I am playing low-points and casual games where dropping a Primarch-level model on someone would be poor form.
Specialising seems doable, I can fit all the robots I need in a single Aliied Detatchment, so they get the +1I and Scoria gets a fancy Cortex Controller, and everything else gets Walkers In Ruin. The only thing I lose from that is Scoria's Warlord Trait, and that's no big deal since it only works outside CC range anyway.
Also, by having LC be secondary detatchment, I dont suffer from the "D3 points for control loss" problem.
Logan Brown
By specialising in either Toughness models (robots) or armour (scoring tanks) you can overwhelm someones ability to deal with it effectively. A plasma support squad will kill off a unit of castellax and attached Dominus, but it'll struggle against four units of robots or massed tanks. Similarly, melta/lascannons/similar will have trouble against massed robots. Thats why specialisation is the best way to succeed for taghmata. You can mix and match, and it'll probably be more balanced against basic footslogging Legion lists, but you'll get destroyed by well-played armies. Just a heads up, you do your thing and spend your money on what you think is cool
Blake Hughes
Iron Warriors have australian-tier banter
Matthew Wright
>Raven Guard are Australian Source?
Angel Cooper
So what are the chances of White Scars getting a special Katana unit?
Andrew Walker
Ah, I see your point. I think that the aforementioned Cybernetica detachment will be essentially all of those in my army, and I'll expand into Reductor. Those seem cooler to me than the robots, but I wanted a few to be an "honour guard" of sorts for Scoria and because the Castellax and Vorax look good.
Most of the lists I saw at the FLGS were fairly casual anyway, lots of footslogging stuff.
Ayden Stewart
They're stated to come from Oceania, which encompasses Australia. Plus their whole sneaky cheeky beakie surprise thing, and their totem animals being terrifying beasts of RIP N TEAR charcaradons, anyone?
Dominic Thomas
They're Mongols not nips you fucking weeb
They're more likely to get a unit full of sabre wielding dudes which is what I already run my vets as
But a unit full of katana dude would be pretty cool t.b.h
Nicholas Collins
If they were, I wouldn't take them because they'd be targeted first since their killing power is feared and respected.
James Wood
They also get bonuses to-hit against characters and autocannon heavy support squads
Austin Perez
I hope they get a death squad with feel no pain, who can't score.
Christopher Ramirez
They have a rite of war for that.
Jayden Sanders
Shit, I forgot about that.
Bentley Hughes
...
Julian White
So weeb juggalos, essentially?
Connor Cooper
It's been 5 months and I still can't get over how stupid Alpharius' plan in praetorian of dorn was
