ITT: post your mtg decks

Here's a casual Big Red deck I've had for a few years. I update it every so often with newer cards, but haven't kept up with the game very well since Return to Ravnica.

>4x Lightning Bolt
>4x Greater Gargadon
>4x Mogg War Marshal
>4x Epochrasite
>3x Tuktuk the Explorer
>2x Ember Swallower
>4x Solemn Simulacrum
>4x Siege-Gang Commander
>2x Conquering Manticore
>1x Combustible Gearhulk
>3x Wildfire
>1x Warp World
>1x Strip Mine
>1x Hellion Crucible
>22x Mountain

Pic related. One of my favorite "build-around-me" cards.

Is Greater Gargadon worth the commitment? It lacks trample

Haste is better than it looks. I hit the opponent with Gargadon pretty consistently.

That being said, it can be an all-in tactic that gets spot-removed easily, so I try not to over-commit. Bringing him out after a Wildfire or monstrifying my Ember Swallower is fairly safe.

>20x Swamp
>36x Relentless Rats
>4x Pack Rat

I gotta ask about your decklist here - while ember swallower and wildfire? Why not more creatures with vanishing or echo?

Where the hell is your thrumming stone?

Also if you rock a sideboard you can set it up to where it doubles as a doomsday deck surgical extraction/extirpate a rat and you're good to go.

The only creature with Vanishing I ever used in this deck was Keldon Marauders, which I felt was too aggressive for multiplayer and didn't have enough effect on the board past Turn 3. Plus, War Marshal has synergy with Siege-Gang Commander.

I was thinking about playing solo magic against a RR deck. Thoughts?

Well, i think it wouldn't be much different than fighting those challenge decks that cane out with thero

Thrumming stone is a good idea thx, didn't even knew that one.

>Is Greater Gargadon worth the commitment?

depends on what you're doing. I run GG in two of my EDH decks and both abuse him as an unkillable sac outlet for all my Threaten effects.

OP here. Zealous Conscripts is good. Better than Conquering Manticore for the short game.

...

Love me some MUD. I wish I had the money to build it out though... the closet I could get would probably be some goblin welder shenanigans.

Is this a Legacy deck or casual?

It's casual. Notice the academy

But it can easily be legacy friendly

Just for fun, but if we remove the Academy it becomes Legacy. I'd rather just play straight MUD or Welder if I was being 'serious' though.

Welder build is still good fun. At present my list is just monobrown, but i've kinda shifted towards Pauper because it makes me feel like less of a dick.

Standard

Main:
2 Bloodhall Priest
4 Bloodmad Vampire
4 Bold Impaler
4 Burn from Within
4 Falkenrath Gorger
4 Furyblade Vampire
3 Incorrigible Youths
4 Olivia's Bloodsworn
4 Stensia Masquerade
4 Vampire Cutthroat
3 Voldaren Duelist

14 Mountain
6 Swamp

Sideboard:
2 Bloodhall Priest
4 Falkenrath Reaver
1 Incorrigible Youths
1 Voldaren Duelist

1) Olivia, Moblized for War looks like a good fit here.
2) Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet is the best vampire in standard.
3) 20 lands seems low.
4) Maybe some removal/burn/draw/discard to back up your critters or keep steam after turn 4?

>1) Olivia, Moblized for War looks like a good fit here.
I'll probably buy it once the price drops.

>2) Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet is the best vampire in standard.
Doesn't seem like it would work real well in my context. It also offends my inner Vorthos to play a traitor vampire in a loyalist vampire deck.

>3) 20 lands seems low.
I actually wind up flooded more often then screwed. The top of my curve is 4, and I only have 3 of them.

>4) Maybe some removal/burn/draw/discard to back up your critters or keep steam after turn 4?
Bloodmist?

Blood Mist is what I qualify as win-more (and in this context, it's a curve-topper that doesn't do anything on its own).

Use burn spells to add pressure and clear blockers, or discard disrupt control and combo strategies.

Lightning Axe would be an okay choice here, as it fits with your Madness theme.

I run a Allah akbar black gobby deck. Use for mostly house play but all cards are legal and not restricted

Allah akbar gobby deck. Built in cockatrice and ordered deck after playtested. Dunno what format i can play that deck in unfortunately. Critique. Format I can play in. Advice. Anything is helpful.

>cockatrice
Check out xmage familia

Legality appears to be Modern, though I doubt it'd be competitive.

That's a pretty dope program but unfortunately I don't use it for anything but building and playtesting a few times before ordering the cards

Would you mind elaborating?

Maybe got this deck all wrong but it looks like you're locking people out with earthblighter. Perhaps have a way to find some of the key guys by splashing red (ringleader, matron, etc). You might be opposed to that seeing how it looks like you're going mono black.

Perhaps some more targeted removal would be nice. Maybe some draw too? (sign in blood, etc)

>All of the cards use the new card frame
>None of the cards are banned in Modern
>I don't think this deck would Top 8 in a Modern tournament.

Oops, didn't recognize Earthblighter. So it isn't Modern legal.

Earthblighter is a trash card. Replace it with Mind Rot, Terror, Sign in Blood, or another Goblin.

Use Mad Auntie or Boggart Harbinger instead of Earthblighter.

Plan on doing that asap. Probably 2 sign in bloods and 2 boggart harbingers?

looks good

Earth blighter was a suggestion from a friend. The deck is mostly creature and player burn. Using boggart birth rights to get fodder launch and disentombs to get festerings etc... out

My friend is building a mono red suicide goblin deck to match my black one for 2 headed giant games

chalices in side are for bogles and infect but i'm thinking of making them smallpox because i don't want to turn off looting in those matchups. Thoughts?

>4x Urza's Mine
>4x Urza's Power Plant
>4x Urza's Tower
>1x Mystifying Maze
>11x Forest

tsphere?

You could cut the chalices and up the anger of the gods count too

No Worldspine?

Seems like a good card. I could probably win the game outright by just hardcasting and resolving a Worldspine Wurm.

I like having my cmc capped at 7 so I can start casting genesis wave for 7 and never miss a fatty.

I think Worldspine was either pricey or hard to find when I first put this deck together, back when it was a big deal in Standard.

BW warrior tribal shitbrew for frontier
tappedout.net/mtg-decks/frontier-warriors-1/

fuck yeah old school Rock.

Lord Jesus there's a lot of money on that post.

Why no 'Goyfs?

I remember reading about frontier on the Wizards site a long time ago, but my playgroup never tried it.

How does it compare to regular mtg, in fun and in play time?

Hell yes, I dig it. The rock was my jam back in the day. Where's the survival?

i don't really want trinisphere because that stops me from comboing off and i think it comes down too late.
i think -3 chalice +2 smallpox +1 anger

Because 'Goyf is like 150 quid per.

>Pro Tour player cards

That hit me right in the nostalgia. You used to get one of those in every theme deck.

I think I was the only one who actually liked these. Made for good tokens.

pure .454 casull deck I take out for kitchen table play. Modified from ajani vs. bolas duel deck. The next time I go home and have access to my cards I am thinking about making it a singleton deck and finding effective replacements for the cards that I have more than 1x of.

The goal was something low powered but still fun to play, and the variance created by having so many different cards makes it so each game feels a little different.

Wow, this is pathetic on an entirely new level.

Fun is subjective but i love it. Some guys i know get nosebleeds when i suggest playing Declaration in Stone instead of PtE like in modern. Most people I know just like having something new and semi-casual to brew.

Speed is like a T4-T7 format but Im on the low end because aggro deck and only 2 colors.

tappedout.net/mtg-decks/esper-ally-mill/
Been sitting on this decklist for ages.
I just need to get around to building it.
Might wait until next year, and hopefully Gideon will drop in price as Zendikar rotates.

Fucking love Allies.
Also planning a General Tazri Commander deck.

This looks solid and fun.
Looking at how Commander (read: Modern and Legacy) staples have skyrocketed over the last 5 years makes me wish I never sold my best shit.

Some Singleton suggestions:
Warleader's Helix is a solid Sunforger target.
*Wolfir Silverheart can be good, similar to Briarhorn.
*Boon Satyr can be a good one-of.
*Dauntless Escort
*Loxodon Hierarch
*Eternal Witness

What kind of deck would Thought-Knot Seer be good in? Maybe some kind of midrange with efficient ETB creatures?

I like this card but I don't have money for an Eldrazi deck.

Good suggestions, thanks. My current planned change logs are

-2 ajani pridemate
+1 hidden dragonslayer
+1 kitchen finks
-1 briarhorn
+1 briarpack alpha (I like flash combat tricks, so do the guys I play with)
-1 grazing gladehart
+1 retreat to kazandu
-1 sylvan ranger
+1 krosan tusker
-1 lightning helix
+1 warleader's helix
-1 recumbent bliss
+1 ambush viper (I just want to use the snek)

I like your suggestions but I'm not sure what to cut for them. It's probably better off for me to leave the deck a little under powered too. I already win 4/5 games with the newbie players just from superior understand of the game

Ever since mirrodin dropped I've always wanted to make a scepter deck. Now that I have some extra cash I'm thinking about actually doing it.

I'm stuck on the colors though. Red/White seems to be the safest since you get access to boros charm. Blue/white is also great because you get soft locks like memory lapse and bounce (echoing truth, boomerang, etc).

Not sure which one I should lean words. My heart says blue/white buy my mind says red/white.

Just stick orim's chant on a scepter and call it a day

...

Honestly man just drop the cash for
4 eldrazi temples
4 eye of ugins
4 ancient tombs
2 tomb of yawgmoth
Some other lands, doesn't matter

Then run a play set of eldrazi mimic, TKS, reality smasher and flavour to your liking

tappedout.net/mtg-decks/the-good-the-bad-and-the-ugly-3/ is my first more serious build. So, thank you, I appreciate it.

Any help for fixing my mana base would be great as well as other questions or critiques would be great

>surgical extraction/extirpate a rat
why? How could you make good use of getting rid of at least half of your deck?

Do you plan on taking this to anything sanctioned, evan an FNM? Because you really, really shouldn't.

shelldock isle + emrakul (usually)

Obviously this isn't an optimal setup BUT it enables you to play the deck differently in the event you get board just tossing rats on the board.

Just, the entire strategy revolves around a single card and has absolutely no backup plan. Sure, if the stars align and you somehow get it out there before they kill you, you could do some cool things. But that's rarely going to happen. Almost all the card choices are subpar for modern, the artifacts have nothing to do with anything. The populate and tokens theme also relies entirely on ink-treader, and is nigh-useless without it.

P.S. Rith's Grove isn't in modern.

uh.... sure, why not.

>rith's grove isn't modern

fuck I dun goof'd with that and dromar's cavern I'll have to replace it with something

Not really its more of a for fun deck then a "try-hard" deck but I want to make it better to eventually take to FNM. Do you have any suggestions to make it better then it currently is?

Honestly? The entire concept is not of competitive quality. You are absolutely powerless without Ink-Treader, and even then it can't win the game on its own. If they hit it with removal, yeah, it can kill a bunch of their stuff, but then you're out of luck unless you happen to draw another one.

I'm sorry, but this just won't stack up to any modern deck that's actually oriented towards winning.

Any suggestions as to what to add/replace/sidedeck just in general? What would help it out to become better, not necessarily super competitive quality like top tier modern decks. Would some kind of reanimation help it out? What other creatures would be good? etc. I already understand from and that this is no where near a good modern deck. I'd like some tweaks to make it better at least.

Well. In that case.

Get rid of the artifacts, they have nothing to do with your theme- they are best suited towards more control decks where you can actually deal with the extra shit your opponent is drawing. Cackling Counterpart can only target creatures you control, so it will not give you a copy of all your opponent's creatures. The enchantments really aren't good unless you're going hard with a tokens strategy, and you just have it as a subtheme. Speaking of which, there are significantly better options for token creation and populate.

Another core issue is the mixture of positive and negative effetcs to hit Ink-Treader with. Which one do you want? I doubt you want to kill your only win condition.

To be frank the core concept of the deck itself is not competitive. Look up some of the tier 1/2 decks in modern and see how they operate (tiers in competitive magic just means how much they are played, not how strong they are. In certain meta's some decks are more powerful then they would be in another meta). If you want to see how a deck works with just one core piece like Ad Nauseum then read/watch some primers on how they achieve that.

However as a casual deck you play with your friends it look _____fun______

Thanks for the help here are my responses and reasoning for the things you questioned and maybe you can help stream line some things
>artifacts
I understand on the artifacts, I added them in because when play testing and playing against people I ran out of cards quick, but i hear there are some cantrips that target single creatures for cheap that can help refresh my hand with ink-treader.
>crackling
Instead of cackling counterpart I'm trying to get my hands on rite of replicate. Would that be a better slot instead?
>enchantments
They where a back up to help out on the tokens since it makes eyes in the skies give me 4 1/1 birds and a mountain of tokens if ink-treader is out and I target him with a might or blessed with a spiritual visit spliced on. What are the better options for token creation and populate?
>pos and neg with ink
Really i'd like both to be able to either keep the field clear as well as gain a huge benefit at the same time (trostani's judgment lets me exile the field and keep creatures on the field if I had any token creatures for instance, dramatic rescue for cheap bounce to save ink-treader and life gain which I know isn't that effective in most amounts, helix for another mass clear and mass life gain) I'm more using ink-treader to get to a win condition/mass creature control rather than making him swing and win with him

I hope this helps you get inside my head with what I'm trying to do with the deck to help me make it better. Thank you for taking time to list constructive feedback

should I add firey gambit as a win con for ink-treader? More for the rage of flipping a bunch of coins more than a chance of doing a bunch of damage

I suggest adding precursor golem

you mean inaddition to ink-treader? Because the copies made from ink-treader won't copy again on the golem's abilities since the spell is a copy and not cast

Yeah just so you have squid #5~8

So I finally decided to actually get into mtg about a month ago and I need some honest thoughts about a deck I've been trying to build.
Basically, I want to build around Ninth Bridge Patrol and Bloodbriar as they have similar mechanics.
But, I'm not sure what I should do to help them get huge as fast as possible.
I figured I could help it along by playing Lunarch Mantle for an easy way to sac shit, and Desperate Sentry as either sac fodder or blocker. I'm also considering Extricator of Sin as another way to sac and get another Eldrazi out to sac again or just as another body, but apart from that I'm not too sure.

Are you looking to fit this in a particular format?

Norin the wary pairs really well with bridge patrol (among other cards as well).

any creature on any side (two creatures if any spell gets countered) + ink-treader + arcbond + rush of vitality + any damage to any creature (shock/bolt/blocking/etc) = instant win, is there any way we can make this a super reliable deck with these 3 cards?

I think I'd like to stick to standard.
The other formats aren't as big at my LGS.

ignore this post i'm a tard

>arcbond
Wont this kill you too?

that was what the lifelink is for to gain back the health i would lose but I herp derped because it would give any creatures my opponent has lifelink as well unless I use
as the target instead

Why are you posting a modern deck in legacy general?

This isn't the legacy general. Guess this is the casual general. Maybe we should start making actual casual generals for the weekends.

I'm thinking about building a werewolves deck for kitchen table, keeping it as flavorful as possible.

Should I include Arlinn Kord? It might make the powerlevel of the deck a little too high for my group, but I love the card

Yeah, sure. Why not?
