Screw you guys I like 1d4chan

Screw you guys I like 1d4chan.

I'm going to support this. My main problem with people complaining about 1d4chan is that they never seem to be able to point out better internet source of shortened information for newbies.

The only irritating thing about your post is the filename.
1d4chan can be useful, given that it has advice on it as well as articles

We now go to our live correspondent to see what you, the people, think about this statement!

"WELL! I FINK THAT, UH...CEMENT IS MORE INTERESTIN', UH...THAN PEOPLE FINK!"

1d4chan is great and without it I wouldn't give a shit about making fluffy armies, and instead would just WAACfag my way up the chain of That Guys.

Wait, we're not supposed to like 1d4chan?

Well, shit...

Liking or disliking Veeky Forums resources like 1d4chan or sup/tg/ is dumb.

They're as varied as the board itself. They have some good stuff on them and some shitty stuff on them. They serve a purpose but are imperfect and have flaws. Making absolute statements either way just makes you a moron.

There's tons pf really shitty articles, and an almost overwhelming amount of misinformation, specially about Veeky Forums itself. You can't trust anything that's written there, and worst of al the majority of the attempts at humor are pure cringe.

It needs a dramatic amount of revision, and sadly there's no one to trust to do a good job.

>too fat to edit an article
>just fat enough to complain about it

Just because something has parts you like and parts you don't like doesn't mean you can't say "I like it".

Warhammer itself has many fucking stupid things to it that I absolutely hate, but I still can definitely say that I like Warhammer because the things I enjoy far outweigh the things I hate.

I only really read the 40k stuff, it's a decent distillation of Lex without being such sourcefags.

I sort of use it like a concordance or a set of annotations?

What kind of information we talking about?

Warmahordes and Malifaux have better maintained wikis that help get users into the game, and 40k has many fluff wikis that start with broad strokes and let you drill down once you find some fluff you like.

>too lazy to bother entering an edit-war with an autist

You bet I am.

Only newfags dislike 1d4chan

Its unfunny because its outdated.
th
1d4chan stems back from a time where memes werent as dark.

The tactica articles are still very legit and useful

lex is nice because it has sources, but also bad because despite having the sources clearly listed, they still get shit wrong

I love 1D4chan too. I don't see wha the big deal is.

people have a problem with 1d4chan?

Fuck that noise whatever happened to Veeky Forums gets shit done?

Veeky Forums has NEVER gotten shit done. All successful projects were taken off Veeky Forums and finished independently.

1d4chan is garbage.
If you enjoy it or make use of it then you are "human" garbage.

Hold on,,,,,, I was ***specifically directed to the Veeky Forums wiki by an apparent oldfag are you saying that it's a heretical tome?

Veeky Forums is not a single entity, but a collection of people. And imageboards are a rather poor platform for game development.
Saying that Veeky Forums projects were finished independently is like saying that the US never invented anything because it wasn't a concerted effort of 100% of its citizen. Nothing wrong technically, but it's still a bloddy useless thing to say

Btw, we still produce content. The generals have regular homebrew pdfs.

then y dont u marry it

It is a great source of Horo porn.

when did Pedobear become a techmarine

And their fluff articles are about as fun to read as a dictionary.

>whatever happened to Veeky Forums gets shit done?
Yeah, that "misinformation, specially about Veeky Forums itself" the other user was talking about?
I've got some bad news for you.

Still better than white dwarf

It is a wiki it is not supossed to be fun.

Correct and informative do not exclude entertaining.

You mean the tacticas ? They are terribly biased and full of unfunny memes that a newby wouldn't get in the first place anyway.

It can be good, but sometimes there are parts of it that are better off. Or which require fixing.

Then again, it's a pretty good source for materials (like the various tactics for tabletop armies).

Oh man, that took me back

Hardly anyone babysits tacticas these days. I've cleaned up the Inquisition one a bit, another guy did a massive revision of the CSM one, etc.

1d4chan is for people stuck in the last decade.

>are you guys even aware of the current year?

>The last decade was 6 years ago

Man...

2016 is the year when western civilization realised that it let itself go.

Veeky Forums likes to talk about getting shit done.

me too

Does Entertaining mean stale memes?

I like the Porn.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, Veeky Forums was fun as hell in the 2000s

I miss it

Sure, but a lot of those jokes and references has expired or was never that funny to begin with.

I like it too user, everyone hates something these days anyway.

I say we start a 1d4chan general. Just get people on board to editing this thing.

See, there's the people who say 1d4chan isn't representative of them, that it misinforms people about Veeky Forums. I've found that this is about roughly 35% of users on the board. The rest either have no clue or don't care, or there's people like me, the Old-guard, who loved the old Veeky Forums, idiotic memes and all, or newbies who were introduced to Veeky Forums through 1d4chan.

dead meme

So how'd you do the conversion? iI'm curious. That looks pretty well done.

>There's tons pf really shitty articles, and an almost overwhelming amount of misinformation, specially about Veeky Forums itself
Swap "articles" for "posts" and you basically have a summary of Veeky Forums.

Id say we leave it how it is just as a reminder of a time before

doesnt matter. Its part of the crust now. Some of its funny, some of it isnt. Leave it for the newbies as artifacts.

Fuck, we rallied around warhammer back then, but even now that is just a cooling ember.

I regret to say this isn't mine. And the guy who did it isn't doing commissions right now so I can't have one. I know its parts include; Gauss Flayer, Lascannon, Gauss Blaster, and Melta. There's some greenstuff for the handle and barrel tubes, otherwise I don't know.

Dawn of War 3 is coming im expecting atleast one new 40k meme

>The generals have regular homebrew pdfs.

And look at how it works out for them. The 40k RPG general, for instance, regularly tears itself apart over homebrew.

and its still better than most RPG generals

The board became "self aware" (by which I mean insecure and up its own ass), so the only things we can make without the threads being flooded with "SO CRINGY LMAO" shitposting are too bland for anyone to care about one way or the other.

Sounds about right.

I'm still confused exactly when 40k stopped being about your dudes.

It's a cooling ember because it was around the time Warhammer peaked in popularity.

When people became obsessed about the canon that never mattered until the Horus Heresy books that turned into a terrible soap opera.

Sometime around 6ed I think.

Whenever it became Formationhammer 40k, but fuck them they're still my dudes and I love them all.

I'm a newfag to the hobby though so I'm probably wrong.

The shitposting The Horus Heresy and The Beast Arises caused has fucked us

1d4chan's okay, but I doubt the people who actually spend time doing stuff to it are. I mean someone on there deleted the page for Future Space Hebrews And Christ Sapaceships for the sole reason that it's just so bonkers he didn't find it relevant to Veeky Forums, nevermind the fact that it's a setting concept for Adeptus Evangelion. Fuck that guy.

Primarchfags are the worst 40k fa/tg/uys.

Yes, and ? Shit is still done.
You're saying that like Veeky Forums won't tear itself apart over almost everything, including which monopoly token is the best one.

The only place where I've never seen people argue is the lighthouse threads.

>we rallied around warhammer back then, but even now that is just a cooling ember.

Warhammer finally got viable competition in the miniatures sector, so it's not surprising interest in it has slowed down.

if you don't like 1d then make a discord or skype group how to discuss changes or reform the administration, ie you only suggest edits not make live edits

For the record, the boot is objectively supreme Monopoly piece.

GW has also became an increasingly shittier hobby company and they havn't begun to turn it around until just last year.

Have you ever seen multiple autistic children in the same room?

Same thing.

We're gonna see if it's still the best piece when I jam it so far in your ass that you can taste leather. Oil Lamp is best.

I've only seen it done with lewd greentexts.

> are pure cringe.

> maymays not dabk enough for my sensitive tumbler senses.

Doesn't 1d4chan link to those wikis? I would hope that it would. If not someone should go fix that.

The exact moment was when they let you throw whatever you want into your army.

At that point "your dudes" died.

1d4chan would become massively better through the basic step of cutting down references to the Unified setting and getting it off the front page.

You just can't be leaving that shit around for newbies to trip over.

Do it. Right now. Start the thread.

Hey, I found 1d4chan before i found this place. I fucking loved the 'ol 1d4.

>finding 1d4chan before Veeky Forums

How does that even work?

Some of the tactica articles are useless though, with the writer admitting he didn't even play the (40K) army in question.

I like 1d4chan too.
It's a museum of Veeky Forums, from a time when you could have liked things without being "boo"-d at. And you didn't had to be cynical toward tabletop in general.

It has the collection of all the projects, and stories that made Veeky Forums worthwhile once.

The articles are to be taken with a pinch of salt, as they tend to be very biased either for or against their subject, but still, it is fun to read.

Sometimes I still go back and read the story of Bjorn. And laugh about it.

my man

looking up 40k tacticas
they were very helpful. Got me into roleplaying, too

Imma confess, I have jerked it to some Cultist-Chan green texts on there

...

>newfags are to be fed with a silver spoon
GTFO

the difference between now and then is that back then people didn't give a fuck about the opinion of contrarians, they just went ahead and did shit anyway.

Type in shit like black tenplars and I think 1d4chan is the 5th result

Agreed on the tactica articles. Pretty useful (unless it's the one mentioned, which is it btw?) if you want to get a simple-ish breakdown of what an army's like on the tabletop, and they're mostly fairly fucking expansive. I mean, pinch of salt as always, but I have fun just reading them sometimes...

hopefully that qualifies me as the right kind of turbo-nerd for this board

The same thing that happens whenever any group of people gather around one idea. Everyone wants to do all the fun or creative parts and fights over it, and no one wants the boring but necessary structure and maintenance.

Everyone has a collection of Ideas and details that they want to work into their shared project, but most people don't have the connections, refinements or details needed to support them worked out. This is why projects with good ideas either die off shortly after starting or have their progress slow down to a grind, as few people want to do the boring work, and just expects someone else to do it. Hell, the "Veeky Forums gets shit done" meme may actually contribute to this.

Just look at 1d4chan: whether you're one of the detail-obsessed autists/arrogant fucks who think their tastes in humor is too sophisticated for it/staunch contrarians who argue for the sake of arguing, who hate 1d4chan, someone who likes it, or someone who doesn't feel strongly either way, everyone agrees that it could use some updating and cleanup. But no one ever does that, and you know why? Because it isn't fun to most people.

It's the second result for me after typing in most Chapter names.

It's not unlikely that anyone who has a potential interest in 40k gets snared by 1d4chan, and then the ones that click with it filter back here.

>But no one ever does that, and you know why? Because it isn't fun to most people.
I agreed with most of what you said, but that's really not true. Have you ever seen any actual cleanup attempts? The problem isn't that no one wants to do it, the problem is that everyone wants to change every article into a soapbox for their personal opinion and it devolves into pointless edit wars. 1d4chan is like the Kashmir- it's a crappy situation that makes no one happy but any change would cause a ton of conflict with no guarantee of having anything to show for it afterward, so it never gets resolved.

That's pure skub argument over allowing homebrew or not.

Homebrew works just fine if you allow all of it and use the ettera'd material. Making it a massive fuckpile of data to sort like (snowflake)finder and 3.5

It houses some of my very first writefaggotry. Some people even still talk about orkhammer stuff and I smile.

>Articles that haven't been updated in months or even years use memes that are months or even years old

Boys what we have is a literal genius of impeccably fresh wit.

It has some of my first Writefaggotry as well, but I'm still embarrassed about it.

> all mamays must he of the freshest and dankest varieties. And must be locally sourced and grown using sustainable methods.

>search orkhammer
>someone's taken my short writefaggotry and written a whole fanfiction around it
I'm not sure if I should be amused or feel slightly disgusted.

fuck the pair of you, Battleship is best piece

The tactica articles are usually the first result when you google "(army) tactics", so some people must find them interesting or useful. If people think they are inaccurate, they should go on and give their own feedback.

>The board became "self aware" (by which I mean insecure and up its own ass)
This shit is the worst. You can scarcely have good honest fun here or on the internet in general anymore. /v/ is the worst board about this.
