Attack on Mechanicum Edition Athens vs Sparta sub-edition
The reality of 1 meltabomb starts to sink in, PotL isn't an instant win button, we talked about Saint Pious, the song database was posted, and we talked about Primarch's names.
It's ok. Next time it'll be (You), alright? Srry (original breadanon)? I just wanted some thread summary
Charles Evans
The idea is more that multiple vet squads can focus fire the 4 castellax down, not that a 160 point unit is supposed to beat a 500 point one
Brody Scott
>Srry (original breadanon)? I just wanted some thread summary That's me. >thread summary I really got to get back to doing those. Have some more images I've gotten over the past few days.
Christopher Barnes
>A Darkmech fell to Slaanesh instead >This is how a Slaaneshi Vultarax looks like
Matthew Evans
And that's somehow scarier than some warp addled dinobot. Pic related.
Samuel Green
Gentlemen
How do we kill the Cybernetica?
Evan Gomez
Mortarion Lorgar Knight Households Not playing them
Daniel Howard
Falchion.
Actually, joking aside, I bet this doesn't even work that well with all the haywire they can take.
Tyler Walker
Only Cybernetica can defeat Cybernetica! Or ya know
Ayden Ortiz
Tyrants! Artillery! What legion are you?
Ian Hughes
Lightning with sunfury missiles, or bring a darkwing somehow. Keep the fuckers blinded.
Nathan Wilson
Can I out cyber-zombie them with contemptors and deredeos?
Carter Gutierrez
>Castellax S6 >Contemptor/Cortus AV13 It's a possibility, yeah
Matthew Green
Meme legion.
Blake Mitchell
So, Tyrants and artillery :^)
Matthew Johnson
>Play cybernetica >Friend brings 6 cortus dreds every game
Life is hell.
Nathaniel Brown
Actually desu how about an autocannons squad with someone giving them stealth
Austin Jackson
That's what you get for dabbling with borderline heresy
Dylan Miller
Man, the Thousand Sons fags are really shitting up the board. At this rate I'm starting to think that Prospero deserved to burn.
Hunter Torres
They are? I havent heard about them in a while
Thomas Bennett
Something about Magnus attacking Fenris again.
Hunter Fisher
m8 if you got rustled in some other thread don't come in here and start crying about it and expect us all to go over there with you and tell them to stop bullying you.
Luke Morales
10/10 Post Prospero deserved the genocide though The other thread is still alive, argue there
Brody Gonzalez
Reminder that Lorgar is a better primarch then Magnus and Russ.
Gavin Nelson
The Inferno can't come soon enough.
Xavier Bennett
No.
Parker Rodriguez
Castellax with Siege Wreckers say hi.
Easton Brooks
Fug. And Specialist weapon does nothing because the Castellax wasn't equipped with melee weapons to begin with, right?
Eli Edwards
I think so, since the Shock Chargers are considered a single weapon.
Lucas Rivera
how do you play arch/magos dominus ? tanking buffing myrmidon on triaros? jetpacked with tallax? hidden inside brainless tralls?
Julian Brooks
For Cybernetica? If they're the ones that can join with units of MCs, I usually see it in a blob of 3+ Castellax, kitted with all the toughness boosters mechanicum have, and a chainfist
Grayson Garcia
30k was(is?) able to take stuff from Stronghold assault, and the FAQ says it was superceded by the 40k rulebook. With Planetary Onslaught out, will 30k be able to use stuff from it? I mean, 40k Fists do siege better than their 30k equivalents, having access to both Sentinels of Terra and Siege Assault Vanguard, not to mention those OP formations
Zachary Perez
>Let the Cybernetica player go first >or lose the roll-off to see who starts, saves some trouble >let him deploy his army >make a show of pondering and looking over the unit positions >flip table
Jack Stewart
I dunno user, getting hit with a thanatar model would probably hurt.
Jason Mitchell
Not as much as removing an entire unit every time it fires.
Lucas Johnson
Before the Emperor got bound to the Golden Throne, how did Navigators navigated without an Astronomicon? How were Astropaths made? Every day big E had to give audience to a few thousand psykers, and burn their eyes out?
Asher Collins
So what is best the best load out for alpha legion Iron havocs? the HB are garbage, but i am really stuck between the other choices
Jason Ross
emps was still strong enough to do it all himself at that point
Andrew Wood
The Astronomican was still a thing. Just the Emperor was powerful enough to fuel it with his own psychic might wherever he was back then. After Magnus broke the human webway, there needed to be a powerful psyker on the Throne to keep it sealed. Thats one of the Primary reasons Emps was on the throne. That and Life Support. As for Navigators, they are mutants, much like Psykers, but their mutation gives them Warp Sight and a Third Eye. By the time of 40k, most navigators are from select lineages (read Inbred) because its a rare but muchneeded mutation.
Landon Harris
Navigators only made small jumps before the Emp's baecon. The Astronomicon just acts as a oriëntation point, which allows for longer warp jumps without ending up inside a sun or something.
David Gray
Sorta like the Tau do?
Xavier Russell
More like Navigators are capable of seeing underwater when they take a dive, and the Astronomican is a full scuba suit with a light. ...Tau are waterproof and bounce off >Terrible analogies.
Anthony Walker
But I secretly liked it
Juan Jackson
One that was genetically engineered if I recall correctly. Induced during the Age of Technology, but definitely artificial, the inbreeding is the only way to keep it active, since it's not a dominant trait.
John Gutierrez
Missile launchers are the best. Even as IW.
Caleb Cruz
But what about the Asropaths? was back then the process less raw and brutal, so they could keep their eyes and most of their sanity? Did the Emperor made them, or they all had to go to the Astronomicon?
Isaiah Sanchez
Missile launchers if you're a pucci, autocannons if you're a man
Angel Hernandez
why so? is the cheapness+all missile types?
A what?
Landon Perez
Dark Angels with Heavy Bolters.
David Russell
Not really. Tau war travel is similar to skipping a stone across the surface of water.
Pre-Astronomicon human warp travel was like taking a deep breath and swimming under water.
And then with the Astronomicon Navigators could orient themselves and travel became more like diving into the water and gliding.
Lincoln Jones
A Pucci. Do you pose and obsessively love a dead vampire?
Jayden Morales
Nah, he's an alpharius, not a blood angel
Jose Cook
>Doom Eagles are a loyalist millenial, Im sure theres others out there. I'm not so sure about the Doom Eagles, as I can't find any evidence that says they're anything but angsty Ultras. However, the Red Scorpions seem to fit the bill as Loyalist Emperor's Children
>Obsessed with the purity of their gene-seed >Fanatically devoted to the Imperium >Follow the Codex Astartes even harder than the Ultramarines >History of conflict with Chaos >Refuse to deal with even sanctioned abhumans >High number of apothecaries >Fleet-based crusading chapter early on in their history >maintain a high number of MkIV suits >Use of (Lord) Commander titles
Kind of like how the Blood Ravens are allegedly (or have they finally been confirmed?) Thousand Son loyalists, the points seem to add up for the Red Scorpions being Emperor's Children loyalists. If this is indeed the case, that would mean that at some of them may have escaped Istvaan, or that a small segment of the fleet wasn't present or was garrisoned on another world at the time. While the Third Legion only numbered around 110k at the time of the Istvaan betrayal, it wouldn't be surprising that a few hundred or thousand were elsewhere.
James Ortiz
So, outside being a medicore novel, what's all the hate on Outcast Dead?
Hudson Garcia
Because user gave you the wrong chapter. It's the Death Eagles, not the Doom Eagles.
That said, there is a very simple, and confirmed by Alan Bligh, statement concerning loyalists and traitors during the Heresy. "Some element of every single legion fought both alongside and against some element of every other legion at some point during the Heresy."
Every legion had separate detachments and splinter fleets operating far away from their primarch. Every single one of them.
Aiden Allen
It screwed up the timeline of Magnus's message to the Emperor and it took a follow-up story to correct the mistake.
Also an unarmored World Eater punches straight through a power armoured chest.
Ryan White
Except turd bearers, they purged all their loyalists
Hudson Williams
Given their background, I kind of wish the Fists had a similar rule to the Word Bearers saying they're loyalists only. To be clear, I don't even play them, but I think it'd be neat.
Ayden Gutierrez
eh, i feel that a few embittered fists would be around somewhere in the width of the galaxy, those who felt that protecting terra or doing garrison duty lacked the glory that crusade did, and those who had close ties with SoH/other traitor legions
Camden Gonzalez
So they painted their armor sliver, added hazard stripes, and nobody noticed?
Elijah Gray
KA, is that you?
Cameron Brown
>fucked around at work >made up a religion and worshipped it despite his god telling him to cut it out >let literal demon live in sons brains and eat their souls >ruin everything in a fit of babbyrage
Ayden Wright
The Word Bearers also had a lot longer than any other Legion to indoctrinate their men. And within a Legion who's focus was religion and faith, I'm sure that the few Bearers not who didn't drink the kool-aid were put down fairly quickly.
Chase Gutierrez
Eh...not a fan. I don't care if their LA rules traitor specific. I prefer the FW lore approach where there are always exceptions, and "your dudes" doesn't just mean "do whatever you want," but that the setting is flexible enough where anything not completely absurd can still fit properly.
Dominic Martinez
BL already does what it wants, like Kalkator & Magneric. Anything you could come up with would be more logical. And that possessed Custodes counts as Traitor Custodes.
Landon Wood
What was wrong with it? A BT fell through the trickery of chaos words and arguments. it's not like no BT had ever fallen. It's no different from how people fall to the Tau or Tzeentch and it's why such concepts are so in M41.
Evan Sullivan
So dangerous in M41*
Chase Wood
What would be a good legion to use as 'counts as' loyalist word bearers? Im thinking 1000 ish points of blackshields allied with another loyalist legion
> Traitor Custodes
Joshua Mitchell
Orpgñhans of Betrayal
Adam Cruz
You could always go alpha legion to get the ashen circle. I mean, the only reason people play loyalist WB is for the sweet ashen circle models, right?
Robert Adams
> they look so hot > but are so much hot mediocrity on the table
Noah Gray
OK, /hhg/, a week or so ago I asked for advice re. beating our resident dickhead UM player with my Mechanicum. Game wound up being me + Iron Hands vs 3500 of UM, since he heard I was playing him and wanted to join in. Anyone up for a report?
Mason Ramirez
always :3
Jose Barnes
Hell yeah my dude. Post pics.
Ethan Bailey
I am
Camden Thomas
> this
Parker Cox
Make it so.
Levi Campbell
Okay so Furfags got their 6,000 years and now TS will get their 6,000 seems fair If that's what you call letting Chaos win and not be destroyed by the psychic race
Jonathan Rivera
turns out it's taken so long because they had to burn all the copies and rename it Purgatory
James Turner
pucci is corruption of pussy, corrupted form of boypussy into boipucci. Twink lovers do tend to go off the deep end
Easton Williams
because ThunderWarrirors survive for hundreds of years in the slums on drugs without Slaanesh's blessings
Elijah Clark
No pics I'm afraid, we were too busy murdering to remember to take some :( Holy shit the (you)s.
OK, lists were:
1500 Ordo Reductor Matrix of Ruin FoC:
- Archmagos Reductor with MC grav imploder - 2x 3 Thallax with Destructor + Meltabombs - 20 Thralls, Fearless and Carapace - 3 Graviton Imploder Myrmidons in a Triaros - 2 Medusae, POTMS, FA13 - Tech-priest enginseer + some other upgrades and shit as usual
Iron Hands (bit fuzzy on what exactly) 2000pts
Ferrus Manus with Forgebreaker and 5 gorgons in Spartan
2 Tac squads of 10 in Rhinos Sicaran Venator Praetor and some Immortulz in a LR
Aaron Kelly
>Twink lovers do tend to go off the deep end >Into No Kink I don't think twink is the right term to use here.
Matthew Thompson
What do you guys think about mixing power armour marks within a unit?
It disrupts the uniformity of the aesthetic, to be sure, but models are expensive and redundancy is something I like to avoid if the models aren't going to be showing up on the field at the same time.
Hunter Powell
/th/ is split on this. Some feel it adds more character to individual marines in a squad, others feel the uniform nature of the legions is important to maintain.
Christopher Stewart
Ultrasmurfs 3500 - Some RoW that means he can take Grandpapa smurf as HQ
2x10 Invictarius Axedude squads in LRs 2x10 Vets in Rhinos
Rowboat Girlyman and 10 Cataphractii in a Spartan
Fire Raptor
5 Fulmentarius + droppod
Knight Paladin
2 Medusae
3 Jetbikes
Michael Adams
>Primarch's chosen >Takes a LoW Well.
Adrian Campbell
Deployment:
Iron Hands set up giant tank wall as per usual. I hide Triaros and Arty in ruins as we lost the roll for T1, Thralls just lined up, Thallax are DSing.
UM deploy offensively, Spartan in a gap between ruins that mean flanking is going to be a PITA (Man, I needed to take pics, this is hard to describe)
Knight looms dangerously behind some bikes.
We fail to seize.
UM, TURN 1:
Everything gottagofast. Rhinos move max and drop the vets into midtable ruins, scoring the objectives there. LR and Spartan flat out towards the big ruin with my tanks in.
Jetbikes shoot a multimelta at my Triaros and glance it. Lascannons pop an IH rhino, wreck is blocking the way for the other one. Knight continues to sit behind the tanks and be boring since S6 can't really hurt much. Is that not allowed? I didn't read the LA book very closely, I havent even got a great handle on my own army yet.
Ayden Cook
yeah, if he had only one knight, he was wrong. Maybe not on purpose, but probably
Robert Lewis
It's Your Dudes(tm).
Mixed units would work on squads that have been assembled on the battlefield from marines from different squads. Or it's a force with poor supply making the best out of what they got.
As a standard thing it makes less sense, since different suits have different performances and rely on different supplies.
Grayson James
>I needed to take pics Draw diagrams. >Is that not allowed? Nope.
Elijah Diaz
It's funny, I saw those models after reading betrayer and just assumed they were the Vakrah Jal. Was a bit of a surprise to find they were a completely different thing.
Caleb Gonzalez
I understand and sympathise with objections from an aesthetic point of view, but in-canon the Horus Heresy pushed the legion's supply lines to the limit, so YOLO.
The examples I'm thinking of are MkIII mixed in with MkIV and V IF and IW, which makes perfect sense given their natures and the possibility that boarder-marines discarded their shields when not necessary, or were press-ganged into other squads to fill in the holes in the legion's local formations without the hassle of re-outfitting them.
Jonathan Morris
TOASTERFAGS, TURN 1:
Remaining 18 thralls move forward, staying in front of the Sicarian and the remaining Rhino that rammed through a building.
Artillery wiggles to get LoS on stuff, Enginseer fixes a glance from his arty last turn.
Medusa 1 and the Venator blow up one of his rhinos with a shell, 4 Vets die.
Myrmidons hop out of the tank and immobilise the Spartan with a lucky Grav roll.
OK, shitty diagrams incoming.
Parker Hernandez
>immobilise the Spartan noice, thats ~1100 points neutered, even if he does have another 1100 in land raiders
Bentley Phillips
>in-canon the Horus Heresy pushed the legion's supply lines to the limit
That still doesn't mean marine armies started mixing their equipment willy-nilly across the board. It makes sense for a squad to have roughly the same suits and weapons, because then they all have equal performance and logistically they need one type of repair parts and munitions. Even when supplies are in short order. There's a reason the US didn't invest on plethora of new anti-tank weapons during WW2 to complement the 75mm and 76mm guns, because a 3rd gun would also mean a 3rd type of ammo to keep track of and supply from across the Atlantic. Germans had trouble with supplies because they had a million different guns to supply.
Mixed units make sense when you're in the field with losses and just need to get shit done, but the moment there's any chance of organizing your own forces, you'd return to some sense of order with equipment. It's just a logistical necessity.
Kayden Turner
Attempting to remember how a pen works, please hold ("Girl from Ipanema")
Adam Hall
UM, T2:
Dreadclaw comes.on despite us forgetting Drop Pod Assault like idiots, FR does not. Land Raiders move 12 towards Thralls and arty, far right one disembarks forward, ending up about 7" from the Thralls.
Girlyman hops out and forward. Everything else moves up, Knight is now really close to IH Spartan.
Dakka kills my Enginseer and Weapon Destroyed my Medusa, but luckily the pintle bolter caught it.
A couple Thralls die, I lose a myrmidon to scattering Medusa cannon. Spartan loses a HP, Vet squad outside Rhino gets obliterated. Pic Related, one shitty diagram. Will do one more at the end of each game turn.
