How do you like your fantasy races tg? How different from humans, psychologically.

Anyone got stuff that would look good in low magic worlds?
that's just a regular insect with weapons
>How different from humans, psychologically.
I like them to be different and inhuman, but if they're gonna playable you have to limit this severely. It's easier for them to be completely alien to western culture but not to humanity.
I still make non-playable creatures as inhumane as posible if I can.
i would cum on his face
Get your magical realm out
>bat people
Technically bat goblins, but maybe they'll be good enough for you.
i would cum on his face too
what would be good "unique" traits for humans? none of this "jack of all trades" bullshit.
I toyed with a setting where the main trait for humans is that they're empire builders.
Sure, their lives are shorter than a lot of other races, but they have a subconscious desire to do everything they can to make a lasting mark on the world. They have a faster reproduction rate than elves, dwarves, and the like, and thus can spread much more quickly, and are very talented in the areas of engineering. Taking from real world feats, more or less.
However, also taking from real world feats, humans are innately xenophobic. Although it can be overcome, it takes time.
this art style looks like porn.
Its porn, isn't it?
Humans have better throwing arms, and tend to have the advantage when it comes to weapons and fighting styles built around javelins and the like.
>japanese monstergirl art
>not porn
...
>taking from real world feats
The greatest human empires were very inclusive though. The very idea of building an empire is incompatible with xenophobia
...
Shit, you're right.
I got too caught up in the colonial era empires in the case of the second point.
If you give humans a gimmick, they are no longer relatable and just become like every other fantasy race stereotype
Well IRL humans have greater endurance then most animals, are built better for hot weather then most mammals amd have a stonger resistance to toxins, which is the foundation of our preservative industry
Thus why the imperium is failing, though then again even they have abhumans
What about just give them a particular niche? at least in the particular setting.
ust as in real life animals have a Realized Niche smaller than their Potential Niche, then humans can have a specific Realized Niche amongst the other races.
Even colonial era empires were inclusive, especially the spanish. They were racist, but that's a different thing from xenophobia
Syrons from Age of Wonders 2: Shadow Magic are pretty dope
I actually find the prey more interesting that the hunter in this. Thing has five legs and no discernible face

They're unique trait is that they don't know what they're unique trait is
Holy shit City of Villains. I've been looking for the artbook for this thing everywhere.
jack of all trades - they train and learn shit faster because they are shorter lived
they breed faster and able to produce stable population and unlike some other fast breeding races like goblins they filter the weak ugly and useless babies out lol
they are able to select a ruler easier than elves/dwarves
also like cockroaches they are hard to exterminate
>There will never be a working private server for CoX
>You'll never play CoX ever again
>There will never be a decent superhero MMO ever again
Shit sucks.
The very idea of keeping an empire is incompatible with not being xenophobic.
I hate that any game has a limited life
Now I wonder how age of sail Europe would have reacted to another sapient species on earth like these guys
second class citizens
nots not a teifling. technically its a half fiend
They might just consider them very clever animals and treat them as such
What's if the natives had comparible levels of technology
>those indian blue people
they aren't really blue
they are just portrayed that way to emphasize their divinity.
its like how western saints are shown with a halo
...
Doozy of a question, at some levels they'd leap at a chance to think of them as animals but at a different tech levle they'd have no choice but to see they are sapient
>The greatest human empires were very inclusive though
not even close
the greatest empires all had very ridged caste systems and loads of hierarchy
why do you think the majority of people in any official position in the Roman Empire for most of its existence were of Latin decent from patrician families.
I literally don't care about how they are. After watching for so many years players treating races as just different stats template and dealing with Gimli No. 50376441, I've stopped giving fuck about this at all. I don't impose anything in the settings I run, I don't fleshen out the races, because really, what's the fucking point, if players don't give a damn?
Especially when most of them play as humans anyway, because "muh flexibility"
Get better players
...
You sound bitter, user. Show us on the doll where players harmed you
user, I'm running games for over a decade now. I went through 7 different regular groups and bunch of less-organised and less-appointed groups and people.
At this point I'm taking my yearly November break, but I literally don't feel like returning from it. I'm sick and tired of players who just don't care about anything at all, but then bitch constantly when you don't provide them with a game to play.
Everywhere
I remember times when I cared. Created an elaborate, fully reactive setting, with dozens of different nations, cultures, few races in it and generally constantly expanding it and constantly updating it with player input and actions.
Or when I was just running settings from rulebooks, when the group wanted something "more familiar".
But for all those fucking people I've GMed for, "more familiar" means "no difference at all between anything". My current group consists of a dwarf, elf and two humans. Which means I'm playing with four humans, only one has bonus to maximum weight capacity and another is really good at sneaking. That's literally it. Last time anyone even bothered to pick something outside the "standard four" was in 2009, where I've got a dryad. Which meant green-skinned human archer.
Fuck this shit, I'm sticking with writing stories, at least those provide me both fun and income.
Inclusive as in "these people are allowed to be citizens and not just enslaved/genocided"
There's the issue of communication too. How would they treat them if the race could speak human languages? Or alternately if it was physically impossible for them to?
I like my fantasy races a bit odd...
>because really, what's the fucking point, if players don't give a damn?
GMs have to have fun too. Creation is half the fun.
One Oni. Hope you find her acceptable.
Hope this will suffice
Not him, but there is nothing fun when players continously ignore the setting and/or don't care about it. That undermines the whole fun GM can have, since it's like GM is in Room A and players are in Room B, playing two different games
kill yourself dude
It's not simply an issue of who they let be in charge; the romans integrated the cultures and pantheons of the people they conquered into their own. No xenophobic culture would allow that
Well I did say half the fun. Since you can't get players to give a damn you might as well enjoy the half you can control
Suck a dick faggot.
...
even worse than above
You are a strange fellow
yes and no
there were still plenty of slaves in the Roman Empire
meanwhile the British Empire abolished all slavery within its borders
yet they both had a very clear hierarchy and caste system
>the Romans integrated the cultures and pantheons of the people they conquered
they didn't really integrate them, they just allowed them to exist in a fairly benign form. and this was only when they ultimately acknowledged the Emperor as God and the Empire as divine.
besides ancient faith and mindset was MUCH different from our own so I would hardly call it a proper comparison.
besides, you would hardly see some dacian strutting about in imperial purple down the streets of Rome without being laughed at or worse.
