Mining profitability

I have a buddy who wants me to invest in a miner I’ve made generous gains this last year so I am thinking about investing. What say you Veeky Forumsbros ? Is mining worth it at this time? Too risky? Better to just put all of my money into XMR and ETH and play the market? Or do you think mining could pay offf?

Depends on your electricity costs and the efficiency if your equipment. You need data and costs analysis before committing.

Mining can still pay off, I guess its just like the market you got to be a bit lucky as some things are more profitable than others. I know someone who's mining LuxCoin since the start and got around 3k a month, which is now worth like 18k at current USD value.

i "made" ~$80 over the past four days mining smaller coins with low difficulty on my nvidia card alone. Havent sold em so it could turn to shit right before my eyes

Above poster is right, you need to consider electricity costs before you begin to invest in any sort of mining gear but it can be profitable currently.

I believe they have calculators for that on mining sites. I will definately do that.

i was about to make a very similar thread

what card are you using?

i have free electricity. i'm wondering what's the cheapest computer i could get to do this. i think i have a few motherboards lying around.. don't know what would be a good graphics card for this

>i have free electricity.
Are you going to give mommy a cut of your profits?

rx570 is best bang/buck
Find them on sale

>what card are you using?
Geforce GTX 1060 3gb
Can get around 600H/s on cryptonight and ~560kH/s on neoscrypt which is what i mostly mine on
no OC so far

If you have free electricity, go all in. Your main cost is zero, and you can always resell the equipment. You can find GPU benchmarks for mining on Google.

lol. i live in a weird country in which gas and electricity are free
thanks
i can't mine too much, unless i plan it really well. secret police might come and get me if they figure out i'm mining. true story

What kind of coins are best for mining right now? Last time I setup a graphics card miner, I was mining Monero "making" like... 10 cents a day

What do u suggest for GPU

This fucker comes out in Jan/Feb 2018.

Bear in mind that whatever equipment you use will have to be replaced every 3-4 months if running 247

>Is mining worth it
Mining what?

Also, I've used my Titan X with some success but it heats up everything in my pc and even my office

Venzuela?

yes

Dragonmint is going to fuck every bitcoin miner when it ships in april. Don't waste your gains.

I am going to google this but can you elaborate any?

Ok what am i missing or is this free money?

You have to calculate the costs and figure out what coin you want to mine. Also there is taxation for that shit if you're in the United States and you'll need to figure out how much you'd owe.

but miners get bank. Some dude posted his rig and income, he was getting like 12k a month... Profit. .

>Mines Bitcoin
>Calculated for 1 LTC
k

just bought a 1050Ti - whats can i mine that will give the the most profitable coins?

>Bear in mind that whatever equipment you use will have to be replaced every 3-4 months if running 247
LOL
No, you are fully retarded.

Doesnt LTC work on the SHA-256 algo as well?
Even if it doesnt the BTC calc says ~$40 per day which is fucking insane

Bitcoin = SHA256 hashing algo
Litecoin = Scrypt

ASIC miners can't mine litecoin. There is no free lunch.

...

Trips of Truth

>Doesnt LTC work on the SHA-256 algo as well?
no
>Even if it doesnt the BTC calc says ~$40 per day which is fucking insane
That is assuming today's difficulty
By the time the thing is actually released next year, and after taking weeks shipping from wherever the fuck it's made, and you've actually got it set up and running, difficulty will be much higher. And it will continue getting higher while you're mining.

Not related to OP, but my electric bill averages to 8.9 cents per kwh.
Would it be worth it to mine ETH or XMR at this cost?

retard here. If I buy pic related wtf do I do after? how do I connect a monitor and keyboard to it? then what do I do? just let it run forever? should I rent out an industrial room?

Literally what the fuck am I reading here.
Don't bother mining if you can't even use Google for the basic shit.

Best cards assuming free electricity right? Because I was told to find some amd rx Vega 56's or nvidia 1070's If electricity is a factor.

#
Neither. Certain shitcoins are the most profitable to mine. Then convert to ether and sell for usd

>tfw mined 30 BCN on my 5 year old thinkpad in 60 days

am i gonna make guys?

How much does one cost at retail?

Some people were giving me a hard time yesterday mining for 1 monacoin on my gtx 1060. At 12¢/kWh I thought the profitability was plenty there. Only the last few days has it dipped sub 100% profitability, but before that monacoin always showed anywhere from 150-250% on whattomine. Anyone thoughts?

I have an x201 still as daily driver. But I would love to mine something on it. Which program did you use?

Mining sucks don't do it

i can get free electricity so i need in on this shit.

>manage a building with hundreds of rooms
>ppl rent room at fixed cost and it includes electric / water / wifi etc
> i can just set my rigs up in a empty room

worth it?

surprised you even have a computer

You should try cloud mining. Its really profitable.

Use my referral link it would really help me out!.

>year long contract at a fixed hashrate
lmao yeah no thanks bud

Don't plan on this. Calculators will give you the current reward for mining but you can't plan on that since the hash difficulty will rise over time very quickly. As a 2015 ETH miner (200 MH/s) I know my shit.
Cloud mining is a scam, always. Two scenarios:
1. They don't have any mining hardware and they are running a ponzi pyramid
2. They did not account the network difficulty increase over time in your contract and you're fucked

best of luck to you, one good thing about Maduro, he told Rothschilds to fuck off. It seems to have worked. I hope the situation improves there user.
