What I'm trying to figure out is what the endgame is. Everyone is clearly speculating on value going up. I can understand this if BTC was accepted widely. If you're in the USD, there are a small amount of companies that accept BTC as currency, and especially not essential companies like utilities, mortgage banks, etc. If the USD were to eat shit tomorrow, where would cryptoholders be?

There is an obvious "little" spike right at the 0.1-1.0 level. In this field, we should see a smooth transition of some sort. What we're seeing from this bimodal spike is an influx of early "get rich" folks who got suckered into the trend. People who don't have a lot of money to buy into BTC but wanted to ride the wave. Bimodal mostly comes from outside influences than a natural market, such as media exposure. There's going to be a point where people become disillusioned and want their money back for whatever they can get.
