PACYOA General #131

Apparently the general number is way off Edition

Hello and welcome to the Power Armor CYOA: Teamwork Edition General!
Post suit builds, discuss fluff, and talk about the deadest of games.

Rizon IRC Channels:
#ACHQ is currently the most active channel.
#PACYOA is sparsely populated.

I'm perpetually ignored until someone wants a new thread.

>Remade Green Initiative Page

>Naming Conventions:

>Player Name:
What someone is called in OOC conversation. Frequently it’s either a preexisting Veeky Forums/IRC nick or the Callsign of their first PACYOA:TE character (this often leads to some confusion as to whether or not someone is saying something OOC or in RP). [Robert Downey Jr.]
>Pilot Name:
The birth certificate type name of the character who found and activated the pod. (I say birth certificate-type name as, since Suitfall, many pilots began using a different name than whatever was on their driver’s license.) [Tony Stark]
>Suit Name:
What the actual piece of hardware itself is called. Obviously if a pilot hasn’t given their suit a name its suit name is just [pilot name]’s suit. [The Mk-II]
>AI Name:
The name of your suits AI (shocking I know). Many pilots without uplifted AIs don’t differentiate between their AI and their suit and as a result they do not have separate names for them. (Jarvis)
>Callsign:
A callsign is what you get called on the radio (or whatever) during combat, however it is also used to refer to the “complete combat package” of the pilot, his suit, and the suit’s AI. (Iron Man)

This may seem dumb but without clearly defining name categories missions and RP get incredibly confused. Picture for example a player named Bob. Bob makes a medium suit and names it Bob. Bob also uses Bob as his call sign. Bob has a brain implant UI. Bob’s contempt for naming conventions has now made playing with Bob a fucking chore.

Bob posts: Bob hides behind the building and sends Bob charging around the corner and into combat with that Medium TA and makes three blade attacks.

Now the game is a pain in the dick as people have to constantly clarify if they’re referring to bob the suit, the pilot, the player or the suit and the pilot together in order to be understood. Bob himself, other players + the GM will forget to clarify which “bob” they’re talking about when they post shit: butthurt ensues. Fuck Bob.

Assuming I have my old suit's 230 points to play with, here's the build I've managed to clutter together:

>Bad War: a pike-wall of his own
230 points.

I am terrible at maths and reading so please tell me if/where I've fucked up.

Just warning you now, each Pile Bunker can only be used once before requiring a reload, and a reload is two turns.

Reposting to help me finalise the weapon loadout.

For someone aim to engage mostly at medium/close range as a GI: Guerrilla which loadout is more functional.

>2x Magnetic phaser
or
>2x Missile Pods

Missile Pods for pure damage, Magnetic Phaser for shenanigans.

I think missile pods are off-limits for GI.

What if we put a suit model in brackets, with the name of the pilot in parenthesis and the name of the suit normal.

Like so:

[ACLS-AS1] Silver Knight (William Wolfe)

Wait shit I thought it was a one turn reload time

fuck

It fits the theme too well.

Wait can you even attack twice with it in one turn then?

Nope, melee fire rate is kind of useless with those.

I'm like, 90% sure.

That means there aren't any good melee weapons, unless I'm missing something.

Well spotted, that makes it easy then.

Shenanigans it is. Though I mostly just want it for EMP.

War lances are pretty neat: plasma damage level for 5 points less. And can be thrown.

Plasma damage is too low, and has no additional effects like AP -- at least, that's what someone last thread said.

It's still 8 damage, and the strength bonus would take that to 11.

Stop posting old IRC channels in the OP. Keeping them alive serves no purpose.

* With a dexy build, you can hit somewhere up to 12 times with 6 War Lances against a single target.

You could go from Pile Bunkers to lances and use the 30 points you save to buy a Spare Energy Cell.

But the damage is lower than shooty options, and it lacks further shenanigans like AP, and worst of all you can't use it for multiple targeting. I can only hit 6 times with 6 war lances before they all revert to blades. I'll probably just make a new build focused on shooting.

Spare energy cell -- I already have 12 actions, right?

We need to go back to making things like pic related after missions

Agreed. I'll make one for any missions that I run from now on. Probably won't be as SDA as that, though

When I eventually have time to run my GI campaign, I'll do something similar. I'm not as good with photoshop as SDA though, so it won't be as pretty.

Don't beat yourself up. No one's as SDA as SDA is they need to put him on a Wheaties box or some shit

No I'm saying that it won't look like Stardust. I'm actually good with Illustrator

>It probably won't look like this
>I mean, it'll actually look good
I dunno why I laughed

SAVAGE

Wow, you made me kek. Bravo.

>Model number

Shit, I completely forgot we came up with this bullshit numbering system.

First, Faction:

AC - Armor Corps
MQ - Moqaddas
HB - Hanse Behorde
TE - Engineers
GI - Green Initiative
PC - Phoenix Collective

Next, Size Class:

XS - Mesh
LS - Light
MS - Medium
HS - Heavy
FS - Fortress

Then, combat purpose, followed by the first letter of the suit's name:

A_ - Attack
D_ - Deffense
S_ - Support

And finally, variant/version number, followed by any possible squad callsigns or such

Examples:
White Falcon Kai - ACLS-AW6/G2 (Gravedigger Unit 02)
Lightning Knight - MQHS-AL4

Feel free to completely disregard this, or come up with a better suggestion.

>having model numbers
>when every suit is supposed to be a unique design

This is incredibly autistic.
I didn't know I needed it in my life.

Bunyip: GIXS-AB7/S1 (I'm still sad Spooks never got to do anything)

>not having model numbers so you can make your speshul snowflake suit even more speshul

Eh, it's just something neat to feel more tacticool, nothing else. Also, because Gundam, where even the super speshul snowflake MS have serial codes.

Hanai, New Salt, Fucking white birds, Hazard pay, and bad war are the lucky pilots!

> 10 CST
>PM? AM?
And I forgot GMing was like herding cats. Oh well! Back to the ranch!

Also anyone can be on the reserves. Show up on sunday and you have a chance to be in the mission! Which means you play if somebody fails to show up.

Which bad war might not be able to join if 1pm CST is his end time and 1 pm is my start time. However I will start sooner if everyone is on before then.

Also as I continue to write for the mission know these three things.

1. you start on a stealth speedbarge that puts you within 9 range of the target without them knowing.
2. They are known to talk first before firing unless you approach them after hails.
3. Any long range fire that reached them after breaching their anti-air network seems to not be able to cripple the ship. It seems to be somewhat tough, but not outrageously armored. It got a big hull for you pilots.

Know that we know nothing... About the ship itself. They have only had it for about a month so far and we do not know how much they know about the ship and it's abilities.

Be careful pilots.

>big hull
>for you
Would it hurt if I removed it?

Bump for today's mission. What info do we have about it?

Bump

>remove it
Okay, what's the next step in your master plan?

Meant 10 AM CST to roughly 8 PM CST is when I can play

How long does an ingame round take? Like a minute?

Does anyone have the speeds chart?

Apologies for being late; unforeseen circumstances kept me from starting the mission when I had intended to.

OPERATION HELLJUMPERS

Greetings and congratulations on yor first simulated mission success, pilots. To test your skills this time, however, you'll be deployed into an active combat zone in the Middle East. Moqaddas HQ has reported a medium sized Puppet lair several kilometers away from God's Eye. However, there's several important files in one of the buildings in the area, so we can't risk a bombardment.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to retrieve the files and plant explosive charges around the base of the main Vannai structure, to prevent the lair from growing and becoming a threat to Moqaddas HQ.

Do not worry, however. A veteran escort has been provided to ensure your safety during the operation, should the enemy prove too stubborn in their resistance.

Welcome to the Armor Corps.

>Mission will start at 1200 GMT-6
>5 slots, first come first serve.
>An extra, sixth slot, has been reserved for the veteran player who'll be accompanying you on this deployment.
>Dismissed.

Claiming 6th slot unless it's somebody specific

the-power-armor-cyoa.wikia.com/wiki/Mecoptera

I'd like to come along, if you wouldn't mind

Sorry, Redneck Rider asked for it already.

Assuming that's Silver posting, resubmitting my application for this one, if allowed.

I'd like to take one of the 5 slots with a newbie build, unless other actual newbies show up. Will post the build momentarily, still finalizing it.

Hazard pay is signing up for the mission, since I can make it today

the-power-armor-cyoa.wikia.com/wiki/Black_Prince

Coming if there is a place left.

Am newb and could take part if you end up short of people, but not too bothered, happy to just lurk.

There is a space.

Noted.

Mission post coming up soon.

Thread is UP. Erryone, get in!

>press A to jump out of the plane

How much points do you typically get per mission? How many missions are typically run? My build might work, but it'd require a lot of points down the line.

have you guys thought of making a discord channel

I think the IRC has enough discord

But not enough discourse.

no, like the application, Discord.

I think it's 15 for side missions and 30 for main missions.

>how many missions are run
Depends on how many people feel like being GMs. Though I can confidently say to expect way more side missions than main missions.

I decided to give Clownfish double up. Anybody wanna brainstorm how their character might be able to do some extra ridiculous stuff with her?

>inb4 "ecchi stuff"

Remind me what "double up" means?

clownfish?

Remind me what "clownfish" means?

One of Wing Jaeger's characters

iunno. Its a ball with every black market weapon available packed into it.

Uh, I could make her into a rolling hedgehog. Beyond that can't do shit. Melee + ultrashooty doesn't seem a killy combination.

What can I say the girl likes to shop

the-power-armor-cyoa.wikia.com/wiki/Wing_Jaeger

or for just the crunch

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gP-vgYNYN5ebreCqNG-5lIGlg_jCZbyduZUl8GKMUcc/edit#gid=70672367

Well We'd only have to be really really close so I could loan you +4 STR and like all the DUR in the world without actually going into melee

Aw, I thought it was a gattai type transformation.

Wait does it last indefinitely? That could get fairly killy. I'm sure there're other, better-suited, shooty suits though.

its similar but instead of actually combinibg you just share stats/damage/some class ability buffs

it only lasts a minute and a half sadly.
Clownfish is designed as the kind of heavy assault unit that charges in and seriously destroys the shit out of stuff then falls back as her allies charge in to exploit the devastation.

That might work pretty well then. That's exactly what my dude's meant to do. Role-wise it'd work great, but stat-wise neither of us could help the other too much (4 str is pretty cool but I don't think my build could do much for you).

pastebin.com/QABb05TE
First time doing this. Some of the stuff's based from an older version of the PDF, but I did fix most if not all of them. Looking for some feedback on this and see exactly what I'm missing here.

what class is it?

Light. It's , but I'm currently in the process of fixing it up. Namely, making sacrifices so I can eventually have twelve pile bunkers.

>super-villain laugh
Your suit can share Celerity via Double-Up.

Even discounting the bonus dodge that would give her the bonus to fire rate gives her another shot with her Cross. Also it guarantees she'll be able to benefit from your Crossfire and let me tell you what, ultra-sooty luff crossfire

hmmmm I dont think you can has sierra madre special

Well I'm up for it. Especially given they're the same faction. Worth noting that any Light could do that though.
It's the reward for Unlikely Heroes, no?

Yea, I didn't realize you was a vet
>f- forgive me senpai

>I didn't realize you was a vet
I'm a bit of an unlikely hero, yes.

>all those characters as tabs on one page
Fucking stupid.

Tis the law of Fool, and we must abide

I never asked for this.

>Tis the law of Fool
Fool didn't make that rule.

so much has changed since I was last around, but not the rolling system huh?

Why haven't we changed that yet, anyways
It's still just a D20 but with much more complicated interpretation and bonuses

are you certain? because when I played it was a d100.

I mean in a mechanical sense, it's a D20, but we still use a D100 for some reason

Not when you account for the DEX roll bonuses from your dex stat or the 0.5 dodge per point of SPD.

For the STIG, do Hawkeye and ASS count as one thing to get for free?

Yes. The options are:

>EC 2/3
>Hawkeye and ASS
>Night Vision
>Kinetic Stabilizers
>Levitation
>Skates
>Flight

Because d20 system is pretty good as a system.

100D in my eyes makes it harder then 5% to get an auto success though.

Big numbers are fun.

How tall are the elven-infused guys? I'd guess decently so because of their fruity DNA. Just need some confirmation

They can be the same size. Elfs get the pointy ears, enhanced bods, and a pen to CHA.

And a very special place on the watch-list of a certain faction...

So, uh. If I choose a Variable suit, can I have one form being a hybrid? Effectively having two other suits combined into one form of the suit overall?

That right there is some really cheeky shit. But I imagine it's possible to be able to switch between a hybrid and another body type

You can also have sexy/bio/&c. suits to collect 'em all.
