2nd for 70 fearless cultists in your deployment zone turn 1
Cooper Garcia
currently not sure how to use alpha legion at 1500 points so I'll be starting froma simple 1000 points format
what do you guys think of this?
also how do I paint metal alpha legion without using an airbrush??
Thomas Jackson
Fourth for Flesh Tearers Supplement link.
Oliver Scott
Use the tint set and mix konrad curze into lead belcher or something. There is a video on Warhammer tv - search for artificer tint set.
I'm going to paint mine stegadon scale green instead because it's far easier and still looks cool
Hunter Russell
SoB command squads new hotness. The new force org is fine with that in mind because they're a solid elites choice, however, trading ObSec troops for rerolling 1s on saves once or game is not worth it at all.
Still, can't wait to try out some command squad goodness. Flamer plas was already doing well for me, but the option of more is fantastic.
What will your dark apostle do? Hang out by himself? What will your cultists accomplish beyond flailing with weak arms at your power armored attackers shoulders while being gunned down. Maybe flamers might help
Jose Jenkins
Cultists aren't supposed to kill anything, they're supposed to hold points and tarpit threatening units. Specially in a list where if you do mange to kill one, you potentially get two new units to replace the fallen one.
Lucas Wright
>Flamer + CPlas x4
For once I'm happy they just did a copy pasted codex.
Nathan Green
Yea. It should be nice. Honestly, that's just how celestians should be.
I actually want to see the canoness page for the silver that they added a jump pack to replace celestine, but that's wishful thinking.
Nathaniel Gray
...
Jacob Rogers
Why do people like AdMech? They're the lamest army in the game, every single model looks exactly the same.
Gabriel Gomez
St.Celestine yet lives!
Liam Foster
So, GW is releasing a complete army list codex update, and then is saying that it doesn't supersede the previous codex? So if you want to run Celestine you won't get the improved command squads etc.?
What are they even thinking?
Luke Ortiz
So I guess we can still use old inquisition?
What was even the point of this codex?
Isaac Ross
> I2 > Melee edition
Colton Powell
>5 hours late
More like I1.
Camden Bell
>Sisters are incorruptable Nope! Only Grey Knights and Lorgar!
Ethan Baker
What are the masks Wracks wear actually *called*, so I can find more like them? Especially the ones that are just a pattern of holes. I see them as fantasy helmet and mask designs constantly.
Isaiah Robinson
I have no clue what the pattern of holes is referred to as specifically, but the only irl example of that style that I can find is called a cassis crista.
Michael Edwards
It's a solid lead, at least. Thanks.
Hudson Peterson
>So I guess we can still use old inquisition?
It's in line with the other answers GW have given regarding validity of older rules. "Who cares, if you have the rules then they're valid, I guess. Work it out with your opponent."
Jackson Foster
So, what are you working on Veeky Forums?
Show us some progress.
Juan Turner
All the people at my LGS have print codexes. Some people actually care about that.
Liam Sanchez
Night Lords Murder Talon 1500
>Warband Lord -140 Jump Pack, Aura, Claws of the Black Hunt
Alpha Legion would be better. Infiltrating = no Dreadclaws.
and
>power axe on a plasma squad
What the fuck is it with kids these days putting melee weapons on squads that can't charge? I swear I've seen this ten times this past week.
Christian Young
>>chaos bro has no hopes left >>is shocked by amazing traitor legions book >>be inquisition player >>get excited by hype about Imperial agents >>holy shit this book is barely functional, is dead on arrival and needs 100 ccs of errata to have any chance of survival
My God. Isador, you were right. You were always right.
Ian Torres
I mean they have really cheap assault transports, so that's something?
Blake Long
The problem is that they should have just explained right out of the gate that Imperial Agents was just about a convenient print repackaging for several digital-only codices, instead of a new thing. People are getting their dicks so hard for decurions and free shit that they forget this is fucking like 10 factions in one soft-cover book, which in my opinion is pretty dope.
Sebastian Wilson
>In each of your shooting phases, instead of firing his weapons, the Enginseer may choose a single friendly Astra Militarum vehicle within 12". That vehicle gains the Power of the Machine Spirit special rule until the end of the turn. >the Enginseer may choose a single friendly Astra Militarum vehicle within 12". That vehicle gains the Power of the Machine Spirit special rule >the Enginseer may choose a single friendly Astra Militarum vehicle within 12" >may choose a single friendly Astra Militarum vehicle >single friendly Astra Militarum vehicle >Astra Militarum vehicle
>Astra
>Militarum
Logan Bennett
>holy shit this book is barely functional, is dead on arrival and needs 100 ccs of errata to have any chance of survival
Oh, then the rules are flavorful and accurately represent the Imperium?
Cooper Roberts
>Desire to Grimdark Intensifies.
Seriously though, this book is laughably bad.
Thomas Scott
Keks
Benjamin Harris
Thing is, it WASN'T pure copy-paste. They actually made the half-effort to change some shit, but did such a piss-poor fucking job of it.
>mandatory acolytes for formation >more expensive melee weapons for inquisitors and reduced options >pointless valkyrie detachment >no servo skulls >no razorbacks >no psyker henchmen >reduced Chimera firing points >locked relics into specific Ordos
What makes all this worse is they had some idea of how to fix things, they just didn't follow through.
>Carapace and Power Armor costs reduced for Acolytes and Inquisitors (went from 8-->5 for PA Inquisitor) >Ecclessiarchy Battle Conclave could be funny >Psyker Inquisitors get force WEAPONS instead of SWORDS again >Coteaz making people ObSec is now RAW instead of RAI-carry-over from 6th >ordo-specific chambers militant
but still...
>DCA and Crusaders still locked into swords >Acolytes still stuck at BS 3 and strictly worse than Scions for anything other than being meatshields >no frag grenades anywhere >Inquisitors STILL CAN'T TAKE A FREAKING INVULNERABLE SAVE (unless you're Hector Rex/Solomon Lok)
>BUT THEIR 4-POINT HENCHMEN CAN
Blake Mitchell
I thought about Alpha, but I like NL. T1 Night fighting means I get 3+ jink on the Claws, and the Raptor Talon doesn't net anything useful as a core because they're in reserve on T1 and can reroll charges when they DS because they didn't use their packs in the movement phase. Plus, the Fist Brute can reroll it's charges out of the pod.
As for the axes, I guess I can drop them for combi-plasma.
Landon Edwards
malleus inquisitor get termi army still and if i seen it correctly from the leaked pics they can swap out weapons for daemonblades while in termi armor now allowing them two daemonblades for 4 rolls on the powers table. they can guarantee a 5++ and a pretty good shot at FnP and Eternal warrior. Which as we know from the FAQ as long as you have a weapon you get the special rules or bonuses.
if you are afraid of your inquisitor getting murdered suround him in buddies with storm shields.
Nolan Wright
>Wanting to fuck the Imperial Aquilla I can't tell if that makes you a heretic or model citizen.
Robert Flores
Do we know if arco-flagellants are still just... dull this time around?
Member when they exploded all the time and cost 35 points each?
Those were great times.
David Peterson
Just do
>Raptor Talon Core >Spawn
Absolute minimum cost is 350. Maybe 450 or so to make it really solid and actually useful. Now you have night fighting and can take...
>Alpha Legion Warband >Spawn
And you could certainly get that under 1k, especially when you don't need to waste points on 100-pt shitty drop pods.
+2 cover save, +1 from night fighting, you have a 4+ in the open! And since you're infiltrating into ruins, your AL have 2+ cover turn one while they either shoot things or wait to charge.
It's pretty unreliable and/or expensive to get a decent invulnerable save on an Inquisitor, which is important for a CC character potentially facing challenges where your mooks can't guard you as easily.
Eternal Warrior would also be nice for when you're getting shot at, but it is just as unreliable to acquire and isn't as important as an invuln.
Plus, just on principle, why the fuck can the Inquisitor himself not take all the stuff his mooks can? It's just absurd.
Connor Scott
Still the same unfortunately, I miss having to activate them, but I guess it does help separate their role from DCA a bit more.
Jack Gonzalez
>holy shit this book is barely functional, is dead on arrival and needs 100 ccs of errata to have any chance of survival
user, this is a book of allies. It is never and never was meant to stand by itself.
Matthew Young
Death Guard
Ryder Lee
Don't forget those drop pods also fly with a constant 4+ jink and ObSec that can also rapidly redeploy units and vector strike shit including fliers on the lower AV. I would hardly call them useless.
Christian Morales
OI! Go be reasonable somewhere else!
Blake Wilson
Are there leaks of Servitor unit? Its probably same as in IG-codex but still need to see it.
>I got a new HQ and Elite choice for my war convocation
Asher Ross
>I'll stop now because I've deluded myself into thinking I have an answer
>he comes right back the very next thread >still won't share the coveted secret that nobody cares about of which army does he play? We all know it's Tau
Michael Evans
No kidding? But half this stuff isn't functional due to faction restrictions (worst offender: aeronautica), and the other half is slight changes to hot garbage that could easily have been made fun instead (inquisitorial wargear nonsense, acolytes, etc)
Some stuff is fine! The deathwatch and grey knight and legion of the damned and psyker stuff? They did a totally acceptable job making those ally sections. But the rest of the book ain't like that.
Aaron Rodriguez
Im looking at the less popular choices in the tau codex. Piranhas look like a fun unit. Any tau players habe any experience with them? Also getting the flyer for free. Any advice for the sun shark or razor shark
Aaron Ramirez
Just bought the start collecting Necrons and a box of warriors, what should my next buy be?
Elijah Lewis
Holy shit they literally just copy and pasted it.
Ian Martin
>Any tau players habe any experience with them? They have their own slice of bullshit in one of the formations where they respawn.
>Any advice for the sun shark or razor shark Always Sun Shark. It does the Razorshark's job better and it has a free bomb and detachable guns. Both flyers are shit though.
Carson Taylor
The Grey Knight formation says one Troop or Fast Attack; optional Heavy Support.
...I can take a Rhino and a Dreadknight, codex DREADKNIGHT LIVESSSS!
Thomas Morris
>>astra militarum
Tyler Long
All the formations have some level of bullshit, but that does sound hilariously annoying. Do people usually run them with the fusion blasters or burst cannons?
Robert Perry
The one I got off ebay has the fusion blaster so I usually do that. Even outside the formation, there's the fact that piranhas cost 40 points. 2 gun drones are 28. So the vehicle itself costs 12 points and forms 2 squads.
Carter Williams
Has anyone magnetized Sternguard? Did you find it better to magnetize them at the hands, or shoulders? What size should I use?
Isaiah Smith
ghost ark and a croissant. get those warriors movin'. Necrons need help getting to objectives
Robert Collins
This really rustles my jimmies, because it means that's stuck in the book forever now. They will errata it, but the book will still say the wrong thing.
I wish they'd do a digital release first before sending the book to print so the community can do that thing they pay QA staff to do, but better.
I really hope the QA guys get bollocked for letting the shit they proof read through.
Blake Foster
More warriors
Benjamin Collins
>On deck the Corsairs gathered into their squads, preparing for their attack. Rotaka looked between the members of his squad.
>‘Let’s take the wall,’ he said. ‘For Lord Huron.’
>‘For the gods!’ added Hulpin.
>‘For fun!’ said Malinko.
>Wuhrsk made a grunt of disapproval, shaking his helmeted head, while Verbin let out a short bark of a laugh.
-Tyrant of the Hollow Worlds
"For fun"? A CSM shouting "For fun" as he charges into battle? Not sure that if this is cringe-worthy retardation or just silly funny.
Jayden Brown
Are there any decent novels or stories about grey knights? For some of the best looking space marines (minus the dreadknight) I've only heard bad things about their fluff.
Easton Howard
I bet he leans Slaanesh, the weirdo.
It's funny.
Brody Wilson
The villain for fun? One Punch Marine
Adam Johnson
>Three Red Corsairs at the prow of the Fist used a deck-mounted launcher to fire grappling hooks up to the battlements on the wall. The launchers, firmly secured to the deck, reeled the cables back until they went taut, and the first Red Corsairs began to swing over the prow of the Fist, climbing hand over hand as they hung to the cables. Similar assaults were being made from the other galleons.
>Rotaka had just begun to climb when the defenders of Rubicon, clearly taken by surprise by this sudden attack on a remote stretch of the wall, began to counter-attack. Las-fire rained down from above, largely ineffective against the power armour of the Red Corsairs. Rotaka kept climbing as fire was returned from the deck of the galleons, temporarily driving back any resistance that might dislodge the grappling hooks from the top of the wall.
>‘See, fun!’ shouted Malinko over the vox. Rotaka ignored Malinko as well as the stream of abuse Wuhrsk replied with.
It's like fighting alongside a child doe.
Blake Wright
>Marines have the mindsets and disciplinary levels of children
Wow, who knew?
Chase Green
The Grey Knights Omnibus is pretty good if you skip the third book honestly.
>inquisitorial sheenanigans/function in the first is probably one of the most "realistic portrayals" >GK are depicted as strong but still reasonable i.e. can be dragged down by surprise attacks and truly massive amounts of infantry >one of the few examples of a Dark Mech World in the second book
Brandon Edwards
I really enjoyed the omnibus.
Emperor's gift was not bad either.
Easton Barnes
If my autism is correct Space marines don't do word conjunctions or whatever they are called so it should be
>Let us take the wall.
"For fun" is even worse.
Elijah Sullivan
Not him but which is the book where Draigo absolutely BTFOs Azrael and the Dank Angles over the Fallen? That sounds like an entertaining read. Apparently Draigo was made out to be as little of a Sue as his character can be.
Dylan Cox
Yeah, but these are CSM, they don't get the weird conditioning and hypnotic suggestion SM do.
They are going to act differently.
Jose Gray
>Hey bra welcome to the battle. Its hella fun
no thanks
Joshua Gomez
That's literally what Chaos marines do. Especially, Emperor's Children.
Easton Myers
Saying fun is not equal to sounding like a retarded Californian.
Michael Gonzalez
My highlights were 1. That intro scene where the tzeentch daemon world and prince they die fighting in droves against to seal is described. All inquisition stuff. That commissar that can't stop shooting fucking heretics even while being beaten to death by heretics. 2. Skitarii, dark mechanicum, a baller as fuck girl interrogator, and one of abadabbadons chosen going full darth vader. 3. What that motherfucking guardsman does to that tzeentch daemon
Ryder Sanders
they talk like that huh? Well chaos is total shit then, and should be squatted.
But I dont believe you.
William Lewis
He meant the attitude, not that they talk like that.
David Thomas
What did you want him to say? "For the sheer pleasure of it!"
Michael Roberts
What's wrong with the third book?
Brody Gutierrez
How spoiler-y do you want?
Cause the short version is >Remember the whole thing about Titus being kinda bullshit for resisting Chaos in Space Marine? >It's like that times 1000x worse but also breaking the Chaos canon to keep the GK canon true kinda?
Justin Butler
I like Alaric almost getting BTFO by Sisters.
Evan Parker
There is no kill team general now, so i guess it's ok to ask here. What can you say about this as a starting Kill Team (GW 2016 rules)? What it's pro and con, what have I missed? My plan is - to have a decent number of shooting infantry (10), a vehicle and various types of weapons (4 radium, 4 galvanic, long-ranged arquebus and strong pistol on infiltrator).
Leader - Ranger Alpha with Reflactor Field Weapon Specialist: Ranger with Transuranic Arquebus (Sharpshooter for ignoring cover) Gurelia Spcialist: Vanguard Alpha with Phosphor Blast Pistol (Infiltrate for "surprise" distraction)
Joshua Martinez
It's fine, just less customisation than HoR rules. And you have to take squads.
William Davis
>Gurelia I feel ashamed. Meant "Guerilla"
David Baker
In spite of Veeky Forums's insistence that I should not play Orks until their codex gets fixed, I bought a bunch of Orks this week. I mentioned during the last thread that playing Orks had actually been fun, but was informed that the more I played Orks the less fun it would be.
Having now played a number of additional games this evening, I think that while Orks do tend to underperform notably in standard 1500 point games, they seem to do just fine at lower point cost matches. Won 2/3 of the rapid-fire 500 point games that get played all the time in the back of the store, but I'll continue to test this theory.
Aiden Perez
May Gork and Mork grin delightfully upon you and grant good rolls. I hope all goes well and you continue to have a great experience. I think keeping low you are doing the right thing to avoid big power units from the infamous factions.
Noah Howard
Which would make snse since most people here play 1500+ most often.
Colton Nelson
Of the modern chapters which ones are still likely to use the MK3 armour as a majority?
Levi James
>Verily, this tickles thine fancy!
Gabriel Gomez
Nice Blood Raven.
I doubt they'd have much left, though. Nobody would have that much. The only way there would be a majority MK3 chapter would be if the AdMech unsealed a bunch of suits of it right before a Founding or something similar.
Chase Reyes
New to 40k but have liked the aesthetic and art for years. What is the best introduction and way to start?
Sebastian Wilson
> Nice blood raven kek
yea I guess I could make my own chapter with that backstory
Benjamin Cooper
> Pick an army > read the respective 1d4chan tactics page > grab a HQ and two troops and jump on in
what about the aesthetic that you like? if its the catholic space nazi thing dark angels are a good start
Blake Barnes
Majority? None.
Imperial fists and... Space Wolves have the most among loyalists.
Charles Barnes
how many relics can a lord have, for example for an alpha legion lord can you have vipers bite (s5 ap2) with hydras teeth (blast posion2)?
Evan Cox
Yes, space marines in some ways can be childlike It's not like his teammate doesn't chastise him for it either
Aiden Taylor
What is the best way to lower enemy leadership in a chaos army? I'm probably going to go emperor's children (with raptor talons) with a daemonic incursion of slaanesh daemons. Just want to know if there are any other good options.
