Technically AIs don't even need to pay the lifestyle cost though.
She'd start out with effectively one level of gremlins, but it is legal.
Dunno how that poster ended up with -3,200 nuyen.
6,000Y from the base, +16,000 from karma, meaning you've got 22,000Y and the commlink+drone only cost 19,500Y
You could ditch some of the autosofts and buy a month or so of lifestyle if you liked.

I am that very poster. I actually went further and boosted it up to 10 karma worth of Nuyen by grabbing distinctive style on top of that.

>Dunno how that poster ended up with -3,200 nuyen.
By actually trying to pay the lifestyle cost from the get-go.

Does anyone know how to fix this in Chummer?

Thanks

Dropping the autosofts to rating 4 would fix that then.
I think it was really late while I was originally making her and glossed over the lifestyle cost.

Continuing form the old thread
I can see Ares or Renraku building a giant battle battle mech, Why? Because Fuck you, that's why.
Anyway they go to test this thing out, maybe it's supposed to be piloted or it's just the world's biggest drone.
I HAVE AWOKEN
>oh_shit.jpg
Thing rampages for a bit,
proving impossible to stop, it subverts any tech you use against it and magic proves equally ineffective due to it's object resistance being off the charts and then settles down to doing what a dragon does - hoarding.
It starts siphoning information from the matrix at an alarming rate, are you a bad enough dude to stop the cyberdragon stealing all the porn?

Please fix her sheet, then.

Done

And then in a desperate bid to stop it, Evo brings out their horde of riggable juggernaut armadilos.

Your font size is set too high for Chummer to handle; not sure what's causing it, but that's the root.

Congratulations, you just handed it it's army of death.

Are you implying the riggers aren't hardwired in, riding in rigger cocoons on the beasts back?

While cool, I doubt our super cyberdragon would be able to actually remove data from the matrix. Most likely it'll spy on people and turn into the worlds best info-broker.

My understanding is that photons exhibit both particle and wave-like properties. So they're arguably both.

>implying destroying the mechadragon would be enough to truly defeat the cyberdragon
>implying that truly defeating the cyberdragon once and for all wouldn't require destroying it in the Matrix

See thats why they wired up the Juggernauts with internal cyberdecks as well.

>So they're arguably both.
chummer, they are not both, they are neither
they are quantums: neither particles nor waves

>quantums

sorry: "quanta"

What's 5e's metaplot been shaping up like?
I disliked 4e, and from what I've heard 5e isn't much better.

AI dragons make cybervirus
everybody is mad
No one likes Ares

Thank you.

>into the idea of being a rigger as far as jumping into vehicles go
>not into the idea of being a rigger as far as jumping into drones go
Someone sell me on drones, because I doubt I'll ever find a game where a rigger who only does vehicles is that useful.

I'm coming off the Harebrained Schemes games as a first-time player for the actual tabletop, and I'll be starting my first campaign in it after my group finishes up our current Call of Cthulhu campaign. Any advice for chargen and in general? I was wanting to roll decker.

Oh right, another glitch with the character I noticed from scanning DT. Per page 156,

>Only AIs with the Pilot Origins
quality may use autosofts in place of active skills
I mean, the base still works and I really like the idea, but otherwise you can't actually use any of these autosofts. Not for a long while - assuming your GM lets you buy-in pilot origins later - at least. Plus there's that whole "AI would totally rather suicide themselves on burning through karma instead of just buying autosofts" thing, but I doubt most GMs would be that hardline about it.

you don't have to jump into drones to find them useful
you can have one or two really well kitted out drones or a swarm of cheaper ones to provide support, use some fly-spies or similar to provide surveillance or use them to make stealth attacks
and you can usually do this while still being a good driver

which edition?
keep in mind that the most popular editions right now are 4e and 5e while the HBS games work on a modified 2e system

>I was wanting to roll decker
Few things.
1. Cool as he was, you can't be Blitz. I'm sorry.
2. The Matrix is nowhere near as cool and streamlined as it is in the videogames.

One could talk the mobile sensor network, or the microdrones slipping into the most secure places with ease or the rotodrone loaded with sniper that is inposimbe to detect.
This are not important. What is important is idoll with realistic features 4, pilot upgrade and the right autosofts for the ultimate waifu.

We're most likely going to be doing 5E. I'm reading through the books to get a feel for just how different the systems are, but I'm at least certain that I want to be our group's decker. I enjoyed it in the games, and reading through the 5E material it still looks pretty damn fun.
Blitz is a faggot, and I realize that it will be a lot different and more drawn-out. It doesn't help that I do programming and networking shit in real life and I'm drawn to it. We've also got perfect candidates for a face (business major) and rigger (mechatronics/machinist) in our group, though we're missing real-life shamans or mages.

>Blitz is a faggot
No way, no how. He was the ultimate bro and made me really glad I didn't roll a decker.
> I realize that it will be a lot different and more drawn-out.
Do you hate your friends (okay, maybe they're not friends but just gaming buddies, but still) that much? Deckers take upwards of 20 minutes to do things.

I did roll a decker the last playthrough and I tried to use him as little as possible. Racter > Blitz.
20 minutes of roleplay to accomplish how much in game time though?

>take 20 min
That's where your GM needs to step in and adjust how many checks are being made and so on.

>Racter > Blitz
Awful taste.
>20 minutes of roleplay to accomplish how much in game time though?
Opening a door.

On the bright side, the nuyen gained from cutting out the useless autosofts enabled me to grab a rating 3 fake sin.

So I made a magic runner and tried to use spirits during the first session. Turns out, the GM didn't know how spirits worked (he was only told I was coming a few hours in advance, apparently) and I'm still not totally sure. Is there a good cheat sheet for next session?
>in b4 someone says 'the core rulebook' he doesn't like to ruffle though books during session

I guess you're right, but I think the underlying problem is that I like to do things either big or not at all, and it sounds like doing drones in a big way would require money that I'd rather spend on doing vehicles big. Am I wrong to think that? Is it possible to just grab 1 or 2 highly specialized drones and still be useful to the team?

>This are not important. What is important is idoll with realistic features 4, pilot upgrade and the right autosofts for the ultimate waifu.
On one hand, you disgust me. On the other hand, you've given me the idea of seducing a target with such a drone for various reasons.....

>Awful taste.
Yes, I have awful taste. I still think Racter is a more interesting character than Blitz, and my melee decker from my Hong Kong playthrough will gladly duke it out when the age of the sociopathic chromedomes comes.
>Opening a door.
Then before February, when we plan on giving a 5E campaign a shot, I'll go over that with our usual GM to see how we can streamline it.

I too, greatly enjoyed Racter's dialogue, though i am sure i'd have gotten a different view of him if my character had the academic etiquette, but i couldn't squeeze it into the build. (Basically, greatest rifleman/decker ever born.)

Also, Gaichu was super cool.

Gaichu was also my nigga.
So was Ten-Armed Ambrose.

Completing Hong Kong was what got me into the PnP of Shadowrun, also, Ambrose was fun as well i agree. Honestly? I liked all the characters except Duncan, whom i for some reason just... Couldn't connect with. (And believe me, i tried, holy mother of the god that reigns over the autism spectrum, i tried.)

check the hayek sheets in the pastebin?

Thanks

I liked Duncan, though I did notice he was the obligatory gay party member this time around (Dragonfall had Glory). One of the dialogs with him is about him breaking one of Raymond's house roles, and if you reply thinking it was "No dating until college", he mentions that no, he wasn't talking about David.

Fun thing is, neither Glory nor Duncan felt... Pandery? To me, like it wasn't super pushy, more of a "so i was dating (person) and for (reason) it didn't work out so hot." kind of thing. So i guess that means the writing was either done right, or im too autistic to pick up on the apparant faux pas.

>Glory
>gay
I don't think Satanists are so much as allowed to have sexual preferences beyond pure hedonism.

It's done right, but it still feels like a quota-filler. I don't think any of the other companions in either game mention past relationships, other than Dietrich grilling you for your past association with Monika.

Dietrich's one and only true love was MESSERKAMPF! though. He's just being tsundere about it.

I feel embarassed to ask but, what exactly was the name of that entity that seduced her? The outsider? Invader? It eludes me.

Satan himself, but since that's a little dicey they just call him "The Adversary" instead of out-and-out stating it.

more specifically the adversary is a general term for one specific mentor spirit which can be fluffed as satan but doesn't have to be, in the same way that just because your mentor spirit is bear it doesn't have to take the form of one

You and I both know that The Adversary in Dragonfall is Satan.

Well the person she was in like, an actual relationship with was a girl
One could argue she was bi, but I don't think it counts if you're coerced into sex by the leader of your evil doom cult.

...

Your idea is probably actually better and more playable - I was probably over amping the ridiculous for humour's sake, Ares or whoever made it would still be trying to track it down, so that could be a usable as a plot thread, they pay you to follow leads on the new broker in town, it's a risky job but the money is good, but then the entire matrix turns against you and shit gets real. Do you tell Mr Johnson to jump and deal with a dragon, or face the beast in it's digital lair.

sure, but this is a special case due to her growing up in a hard christian household IIRC
depending on your tradition and culture you might see the adversary as a force of good opposing the tyranny

It's the thing people called Satan, but it really is just a mentor spirit, not really any different than any other one, besides being a bigger dick.

Oh I'm jumpin' in that I-DOLL if you know what I mean

I don't get it.

So if I've got a HMG in my Steel Lynx, what can I do to improve it's recoil reduction other than gas vents? Also, is there anything other than image magnification and improved range finder (which sadly don't stack) that can reduce range penalties for a sniper rifle? Deep down in my heart there's a part of me that wants to fire at someone a kilometer away without taking penalties.

Cehck Rigger 5.0, pg 148.

>depending on your tradition and culture you might see the adversary as a force of good opposing the tyranny
Yeah, and that's literally how she saw it. Depending on your tradition you might see Doom as any number of things, but none of those things will be non-evil.

Speaking of that page, if a runner chooses to get a Saeder-Krupp Direktionssekretar instead of anything else (like the suggested refluffing to an Ares or even a Sonybot) is it safe to say that they've made a deal with a dragon?

The only time any vaguely intelligent runner ever considers dealing with a dragon is if the payoff will be a retirement package.

Eh, maybe. I'd say no simply because buying a dragons shit doesn't mean you're doing it a favor.

What if the alternative to not dealing is being crisped by dragonbreath?

Aside from increasing your lynx's body, not much. Underbarrel Weight is an Under mount in Run and Gun that adds a point. Ask your GM if you can get vehicle equivalents of foot anchors, maybe?
Everything after that is probably your retirement package.

>pilot origins doesn't explicitly allow AIs to jump into anthro drones
>rigger 5 talks about it happening like it's obvious
Classic CGL.

Remember that you get RC equal to your drone or vehicle's body. And when in doubt you can always switch over to suppressive fire, which generates no recoil

Anthros aren't exactly water- or air-craft, omae.

To the user who offered to run a one-shot in the last thread, I shot you an email. Looking forward to getting something going.

Yekka, different question related to AI. Would you let somebody take pilot origins post-character creation? I don't personally see there being a problem in it (there doesn't seem to be any rules against it) but maybe a more experienced GM would say otherwise.

>Ask your GM if you can get vehicle equivalents of foot anchors, maybe?
That won't be necessary; 1 recoil compensation from underbarrel weight plus 3 from gas vents plus 6 from the drone's body means I'd never have to worry about recoil with it.

Unrelated question: exactly how much of a loser would one be considered if they had a Realistic Features 4 I-Doll as their "robogirlfriend", complete with naughty bits? Do you become less of a loser if you upgrade "her" Pilot to 6, as well as give "her" Personality software and extra skillsofts?

>"her"
does "she" have a feminine penis?

Having read over most of the core rulebook, im fairly certain nobody would care, considering that it went to, in my opinion, excessive lengths to state "LOVE IS TOTES DEAD PEEPS, CASUAL SEX IS WHAT WE DO NOW." So by all means, honk the hooters of your lovebot-3000 for all it's worth because in the shadows that's probably as close as you'll get.

A huge loser, and no, even if she is almost a perfect replica of a person you'll still be seen as a loser. On the upside, with the pilot of 6 and suchforth, it's possible no-one might ever find out she's a robot.

No, what kind of degenerate do you take me for? The quotation marks are there because it's a thing instead of a person (though obviously someone with such a robogirlfriend might not see it that way).

In large portions of Shadowrun I get the impression that that kind of degeneracy doesn't even raise eyebrows, and it's not like the 'runner lifestyle is conducive to having an active dating life.

Ehhhhh. Depends on circumstances and player background, I guess? I generally lean in favour of allowing the players to do cool shit, provided said cool shit doesn't annoy me or make me have to deal with fetishy shit that doesn't interest me.

If you were able to convince me that I should let AIs into my game, presented me with Cinnamon strapped into an i-Doll and after a few months in-game said 'I want to be more like the little girl, can I take Pilot Origins for that?' I'd lean towards yes.

You're paying out the ass for it anyway.

This may not be against the rules but it offends me on some basic level.

>find out target lost his wife and kids in a tragic accident
>purchase several anthromorphic drones
>apply Realistic Appearance 4
>modify them to look just like his dead wife and kids
>use this drones to fuck with the target's head
I'm going to hell just for thinking that up, aren't I?

I'd say thats pretty fucking brilliant, you'd have to be stone cold dead inside not to be shaken up by something like that. Depending on the payday that would totally be worth the cash and prep time.

Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. As long as I'm going down this rabbit hole, I might as well see just how deep it goes: would it be possible to install an artificial womb in a robogirlfriend that, with donated ovum, could be used to make babies the old fashioned way? Or would buying more drones be the only way to have a "family" with your robogirlfriend?

I honestly dont see why not, it's the time of dragons running most of the world via corporations, public blood sacrifices that no one bats an eye at, and ofcourse all the shittery with Otaku, Technomancers and whatnots. So yeah, by all means jam a womb in your lovebot and go all rocket brothers on 'er.

Make them sucide drones as well, have them walk through a crowd and through his vision as he's looking in the right direction, have them walk around a corner, he'll go blitzing after them. Have them wait for him, and when he touches one of them. BOOM.

Alternatively, just keep having them appear in different outfits, look up what they wore, it'll all be recorded as long as they died a few years after Crash 2.0.

Also you are totally going to hell.

>would it be possible to install an artificial womb in a robogirlfriend that, with donated ovum, could be used to make babies the old fashioned way?
Imagine being the offspring of that.
>"Alright mom, see you later!"
>"Uh, dude, I think that's an anthrodrone."
>"Yeah, and she's my mom too. My dad's a real freak."

Not possible.

Vat grown kids, even those using both a normal ovum and a normal sperm, not true cloning, have canonically been stated to be impossible so far. There's a couple of adventure books I think that have horrifying results of attempts in at least one of the editions.

If the technology exists to do it, it is so far outside a shadowrunner's pay cheque as to be like them buying a seat on the corporate court.

also if you implanted a womb that was grown, used artificial ovum, the womb and probably the child, wouldn't last long enough since there'd not be enough essence in the body to do the job.

Now if it was a -biodrone- that's a different matter I -think- but I don't think they've managed to do humanoid biodrones yet, for the same reasons as above.

Still less awkward than being the bastard off-spring of the butch dyke dwarven rigger who got double teamed by the teams street sam and decker, both of whom are trolls, on the regular.

Speaking of AI, Yekka, there's no option available to make AI programs free in Chummer. Think you could change that?

>Shiawase I-Dolls are mentioned in Rigger 5 as having a "Class 4" variant
>they have a body of 3, meaning they can only ever get Rating 3 Realistic Features
Is there something I'm missing?

They can get programs for free?

No, not outside of the GM deciding to not fuck you over quite so badly as -literally- saying you have to spend 5 karma for what others can spend 80 friggin nuyen for.

Well, she isn't jumped into the drone, she's in the commlink which would then send orders to the drone, which would use the autosofts loaded onto it.

Hrm. It'd require a bit of a shift in calculation logic, but nothing super onerous. Why don't you just reduce the karma cost for new programs to 0 though?

Because I forgot. Sorry.

...

All good, no worries

I don't understand. Where is the build on the pastebin?

Is this a joke?

What do you see when you use that link?

I see a build, including priority, stat allocation, contacts taken and the works.

Something else, though.
Maybe it's just me, but it looks like the values for "maximum" and "minimum" labels in quality selection are swapped.

I see that pastebin that is always in the OP. It's got new GM advice, rulebooks, assorted tools, german stuff, maps, random chase generator, etc

I don't see anything about a character build.

God damn, now I see it. What did you do, you madman?
