>Why did FFG lose the 40k RPG License?
Because they were bought by Asmodee and that caused some sort of licensing conflict.

>Will GW make their own 40k RPGs now?
Probably not. But if they do it will likely be worse than you could possibly imagine.

After your game finishes, if you could describe some Deathwatch-esque relics based on the actions, preferences, or motives of your players or your character, what would they be like? What would the relic's powers be?

Probably my plasma gun. Would probably make it a legacy weapon.

If a Rogue Trader lost his warrant of trade somehow, but could prove who he is. Can he get it restored? Like a photo-copy or something.

Nope. You're fucked. There's even numerous adventure seeds that say "You found a warrant. You're a RT now!"

How do I speed up my online games? Investigations are going slow and combat takes forever. I want my games to ideally be one shots I can finish in 4-8 hours.

I could go for some help with the backstory of my first dark heresy character a krieg gaurdsmen

I was thinking he was takin from a battle by inquisitor right before a suicidal charge where the rest of his squad was killed and that he feels guilty he didn't get to die gloriously with his squad mates

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Make sure everybody knows the rules.

>photocopy
Sounds like some sort of tech heresy there user. I wouldn't go mentioning it to the admech.

Also, if you lost your warrant just say you have one. Almost no one is in a position to question you.

I ask because I suspect my PCs will attack an upcoming NPC by going straight for the warrant.

I imagine if most of his assets and fleet remain intact though, he can still act like a Rogue Trader for quite some time, because the MRB does say that most people won't question your status if you have the body language/appearance, power and/or wealth to back it up.

>Krieger
>human emotion
Pick one, they're suicidal aspies so broken they can't understand basic emotion
A Krieger would understand that this is his Emperor given calling and give zero fucks about the serial numbers that were removed from active service to KIA

Don't they usually keep their warrants on terra in stasis vaults?

I remember a few glints of humanity being shown in dead men walking
I figured he wouldn't be outwardly distressed about it but it would eat at him privately

I'm pretty sure it depends on the Trader. I asked mine where he wanted it, and he chose a stasis-display in a hidden void coffer in the captain's quarters of the family heirloom flagship.

So that's up to you to roleplay, this will require you to behave mechanically most of the time, so how do you effectively portray that you are disturbed by past events while still behaving like a Krieger? Honestly the best way would have him behave even more suicidally, and should the moment ever arise where the opportunity for Krieger story should arise, you would start, and then become a robot again before getting through even half of it

I had an idea of him having some kind of small trinket like a button of a uniform or a spent bolt shell that he carries on his person to remember his his old squad

maybe have a character building moment where he might start to reminisce about his old squad maybe even showing a bit of admiration/pride when recounting the deaths of some of his squad mates before snapping back to reality and realizing he had slipped up and going back to regular mechanical attitude

I guess. Decimation was still an extreme step. Even Angron never did that.

New lore from Forge World's Horus Heresy book 3. It's good stuff, and massively improves the Iron Warriors lore beyond mere "a bloo bloo bloo the imperium never cared about me FUCK YOU SONS OF DORN GET OUT REEEEEE".

I just got a problem with the decimation.

Then headcanon it away. Maybe your dudes don't believe in decimation. The universe only contains what you think it should.

Can you have an augur and a Auto-Stabilised Logis-Targeter?

The MRB says you can have no more than one of each essential component, but the Logis-Targeter says "This can be used as the ship's augur."
Does that mean you can get it AND an augur, but use it as an augur if you don't have one? Or does it count as an augur no matter what?

RAW I think it's the former but I want a second opinion.

It takes the augur slot.

Stealing somebody's identity is a big deal in the Imperium. Not having proper ID can be potentially fatal. There's a whole bit about it in, I believe, the Book of Judgement that explains how stealing/altering/destroying a noble's proof of pedigree can literally result in them being barred from their own estates.
With that in mind, I'm assuming that Imperium nobility is TERRIFIED of such a thing happening, so stealing a warrant of trade should be a huge undertaking involving extremely careful planning, and a Rogue who loses it will tear the galaxy apart to get it back. I'd assume in some cases killing a Rogue is actually easier than stealing their warrant.

Could you elaborate on the new lore besides the decimation? Also, personally I wish the hatred between the IW and the Tallarnians was played up a little more. I like the idea that IW are vindictive about any of the things of beauty the Imperium creates, and sometimes go out of their way to scar and desolate things like garden worlds.

Since AdMech adepts can serve as Inquisitorial acolytes, would it be treason against the home team if they became an Inquisitor? Would they be allowed to remain in that position, or would that flip the shit of one of the major factions?

They aren't mutually exclusive.

I think the best way to describe it is that the Iron Warriors became the most "modern" of the legions. They were an actual modern combined-arms force, not just a giant knightly order or medieval army. There was little pomp and circumstance in their heraldry and tradition, just function and demanded competence. Perturabo was dedicated to the study of technology as well; he expected all of his legionnaires to be able to understand it instead of just paying it lipservice. They're sort of like Iron Hands, but with a modern command structure and a closer relationship with the AdMech. Also, they're colder. Somehow.

I know it doesn't SOUND that much different, but in my eyes having a legion act like an actual military instead of like a tribalist warband or a feudal order like the other legions sets the Iron Warriors far apart in my eyes.

ok if i was gonna try and run a solo for rogue trader or dark heresy how should i do it. Got a few hours with a buddy before everyone else shows up and i wanna give it a go.

The loyalty of the tech-priest is to the Adeptus Mechanicus first and to the Inquisition second.
One of the reasons why the Inquisition hasn't even deciphered the base syntax of the lingua-technis in almost 10 millennia.

If I was an inquisitor would I allow this kind of power to an individual that belongs to an autonomous organisation that has completely different views on almost everything?

On the other hand, it's a game, do whatever results in the most fun for everyone.

What I mean to say is that you are asking the wrong question.

I took ur mum's augur slot.

Sort-of-related, is there anything like an "Imperial-ist" (wrong word but fuck it) AdMech faction? One that actually takes the "The Emps is the Omnissiah" thing seriously and not take every opportunity to heretek-out?

The Cult Mechanicus has only a single god that is not the Emperor, the Deus Mechanicus, but states the Omnissiah is the physical manifestation of the machine god and part of the trinity of Deus Mechanicus, Omnissiah and Motive Force.
That means, the Emperor is in all cases the Omnissiah, but not the Deus Mechanicus, in short he is basically THE prophet or robo jesus.
As always there are factions that stick to the core beliefs and sects that believe something different.
I hope that answers your question.

I'm in a Black Crusade game, and the GM is allowing advanced templates because we're all experienced RPG players. I've never actually played Black Crusade, however, even though I have played Deathwatch and Rogue Trader. Is it better to use the Veteran of the Long War template, or use the free XP given to get more talents? I'm going to try to stay Unaligned at the beginning.

Just don't play a mixed csm and heretic party. Also, remember that you get shitton of xp, so I think it's better to personalize from the basic - and if you dont know how, then you should stick to the veteran.

I was raised Catholic, so yes, yes it does...

>and if you dont know how, then you should stick to the veteran

Makes sense. That ability that gives him Fear (2) and +1 if he kills someone who he has Hatred against is pretty bitchin', too.

Buy a lot of hatred talents, user.

The old style lasguns looked so much cooler than todays.

/grognard

Different user, but GM is allowing mixed csm / heretic. Possibly also allowing advanced archetypes. Tried suggesting they not do this, but without any in depth knowledge to back it up. Should I just go with it, and if so, any suggestions on what to play?

Instead of buying Hatred, get an Accursed Crozius. Instant Hatred vs anyone engaged in Melee.

Considering you can take single item and one special ability from any CSM archetype with matching alignment, go Unaligned and take the Crozius from the Dark Apostle.

Dark Apostle. Out of all of them, they'd work best since their whole deal is being the Jehovah's Witnesses of Chaos, so it would be within reason for them to be accepting and supporting of regular humans. They are the flock they're preaching to, naturally.

Also because of Triple Hitler here . The Crozius is hands-down one of the best melee weapons in the game.

My warband's already got a Dark Apostle, unfortunately. I don't want to steal his thunder.

Perhaps. But Angron did instill the practice of gladiator pits as a means of sorting out problems. Angron's legion had a problem of individuals. The IVth legion had a more systemic problem, and so a systemic solution was needed.

Although this all stems from me being the kind of person that unless something is REALLY galling, there is always more to a story that makes it less silly than it seems. I like the macro approach to lore of including everything and viewing nothing in isolation. 9.5 out of 10, there's an alternate interpretation or reasoning of lore that makes it fit with prior information.

The way I see it, that would only happen if they've proved that they have little loyalty left for the Mechanicus.

There are a number of different factions described in The Lathe Worlds that would fit this.

My dark heresy game ended and I need a few more "references" for my characters to either hate or laugh at. We're a pretty laid back group.

How would Gildary Lockhart from harry potter do as a Inquisitor in 40k Veeky Forums ?

he would start by taking credit for what fellow acolytes did after being the only survivor on a mission (because he's a dirty coward and he saved himself) , that's how he got to be inquisitor. Then he would get the best acolytes he could and make them do stuff while he hid, and then kill the survivors when it was done and take credit for their accomplishments. rinse and repeat. He would be insanely charming, and actually able to talk nobles and various high ranking military personnel into doing things for him willingly. So even more manipulation of others to get things done while he stays nice and safe out of the way.

Ideas/hooks for OW group consisting of commissar, toaster, heavy gunner, weapon specialist (meltagun) and medic?

The Orks managed to seize a Munitorium factory producing Chimeras and Chimera chassis'. However, the Orks in question were Blood Axes who didn't kill or enslave the workers as is typical for the Green Menace; they kept them at work at the factory and had them start building the vehicles for their Waaagh! to try and take the planet. The team's mission is to infiltrate behind enemy lines and either disable the factory or stage an uprising to retake it, destroying as many looted vehicles as they can while on the way to it.

I've got a request, Veeky Forums. I'm going to be running a campaign linking several different Chaos cults from across the sector to the Dark Mechanicus supplying their shit, and I need ideas for techno-heretical equipment to tempt my players with. Anybody out there know of some possible recommendations? Filename related.

Halo devices

What, seriously, would happen if my character got a Krieg waifu/personal assistant from his Inquisitor like he's going to requesting?

For an Unaligned Veteran, what would be a good ability to take? The Night Lords Fear ability or just the Chosen ability to reroll Virtuous Hatred?

You'd get an emotionless autistic woman with a suicidal devotion to the Emperor who would have absolutely no concept of love or sex or anything beyond being a soldier.

She might also try to gut you if you "rendered her unfit for duty".

Maybe some Chaos ties as well?

bump

Why the Slann are added up in lathe worlds? They are dead in wh40k and making them not!lizardsfromlustria is pointless, especially if a player is allowed to play one of them..

Slann from Not!Lustria have been canon since 4th edition, when the Necron codex said to use Lizardmen Armybook as debased Slann. FFG skirts the issue by calling them Syrshin in Deathwatch. But seriously, "lizards riding bigger lizards that are constantly watching out for some humanoid metallic menace with supertechnology?" Totally lizardmen.

>She might also try to gut you if you "rendered her unfit for duty".
Or you might explain what you're doing beforehand, stating that you consider her specific genetic inheritance fit to continue serving the emperor beyond a single lifetime.

The more you know I guess

wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Genetor
Relevant rulebook is Rouge Trader: Into the Storm.
Basically there is a sect of the Mechanicus who believe that biological organinisms are really complicated machines. As such, instead of replacing all their meaty bits, they try to make their meaty bits better. Subsects of that sect believe that the Emperor had the perfect body, and as such is the Omnisiah.

They do the same thing with Squats, they call them Lathemasters.

Dark Heresy 2E. Can you start with implants instead of items from Acquisition?

Does the grade of the item/implant affect the availability? If so, how?

I've rarely seen such a misinformed individual spout so much smattering that is barely relevant to the topic at hand.

You can, but it's basically impossible to do unless your're a techpriest and get them for a discount

So for a Mechanicus character, who starts with the mechanicus implants and the ability to count an item as two stages more available, they can start with up to Very Rare implants?

And does the quality of the implant affect availability?

Very cool, I like that distinction a lot.
I guess what I would say distinguishes Iron Hands from Iron Warriors is that the Hands are very close, philosophically, to the Mechanicus, correct? Basically, they strongly believe that "flesh is weak" and that even Astartes flesh should be enhanced and replaced as a matter of effectiveness and religious devotion.
Whereas the Warriors view technology and augmetics as something to serve and enhance them whenever necessary, rather than as a bedrock of their identity. Does that sound accurate?

It does. Going from normal to good adds -20 difficulty

Rogue Trader, start the character with all Common Lore skills trained, and ensure that they have dodge and Awareness. Maybe start them at Rank 2 or so.
The character is the Rogue Trader, regardless of what actual class they pick. They have three NPC who shore up all their missing skills (probably a tech priest, Seneschal, and a Navigator or pilot of some kind).

Steal and 40k-ify an old plot from Star Trek, something neat and punchy that can be wrapped up in a single sitting.
>Discover a planet of primitive genetically modified aliens who serve a super computer that's interfaced with the planet's biosphere
>Find a dead ship that is the exact copy of the player's, with exact copies of the crew drifting dead within it. Figure out that it's them six hours in the future, spat out by a catastrophic warp event, and now they have to piece together a way to stop that.
>Race another Rogue to discover a stable route through an extremely dangerous section of realspace, full of astral hazards.
>The Rogue and his first mate are captured by Orks, who force them to fight each other to the death in a gladiatorial match.
>An enemy fleet is rapidly approaching a human planet only recently contacted by the Imperium which insists on remaining neutral. The Rogue must convince the pacifistic local populace to fight, and figure out the mystery as to how they have survived in hostile space so long without weapons.
>The RT stumbles across the shattered remains of an Astartes strike force. The sole survivor is an increasingly erratic Space Marine Captain who demands that the RT take him back to Imperial space so that he can warn everyone about the dire new threat that destroyed his fleet. What threat could make such short work of the mighty space marines? And is the Captain all that he claims to be?

You got Radical's Handbook? The Empyric Conduit Blade is the shit.

Somewhat, yes.

So, what part of that am I wrong about? The guy was asking if there was anyone in the Mechanicus that believes the Emperor is the Omnisiah. I provided an example of a sect of the Mechanicus that believes such.
"The first and oldest is the Primus Humanum, which espouses the purity of the human form as a vessel for knowledge, viewing the Emperor's form as that of the ideal human and that of the perfect vessel for knowledge"

Holiday Special Interlude coming up. Session intro is as follows.

All da boyz on da space hulk liked lootin' a lot,
but Boss Gurrinch, up on da bridge o' da space hulk, did NOT.

Da Boss din't like lootin', said "It'z mukkin' about,"
(Dun't ya dare ask 'im why, he'll give you a shout)
Da boyz say 'iz flash jus' wun' dat bright,
or dat 'iz mega-armour didn't fit right,
But da most likely reason, when I fink of it,
iz dat he'z a big zoggin' ded 'ard killy Goff git.

Well, wotever it wuz - 'iz armour or bitz,
da Boss sat on 'iz ship-bridge yellin' at gitz
bellowin' orders an' swingin' 'iz lash
at 'iz freeboota mobz wif der piles o' flash.

But da Boss knew as soon as dey'd got inna scrap,
'iz boyz started lootin' all sortz o' crap:
"Dey'z sharpnin' der choppaz! Dey'z fixin' der kitz!
Dey'll fill up me 'old wif all o' der bitz!"
Da Boss roared, puttin' 'olez in da deck wif 'iz shootin:
"I MUST PUT A STOP TER ALL DIS NAFF LOOTIN'!"

Down below, in da space hulk, da orkz made lotza noize
az dey busily readied der flashy ork toyz
fer da boyz! Lotza boyz! All da boyz!
Choppaz an' shootaz' an' flash fer da BOYZ!
BOYZ! BOYZ! BOYZ!
And den, thought da boyz, dey'd steal all da bitz!
Shiny bitz! Worky bitz! Killy bitz!
BITZ! BITZ! BITZ!
Dey'd steal from da humiez, an' pointy-eared gitz!
Anyfing dey wuz able to get in der mitz!

...Til da Boss, 'ed come down, an' wif a great shout
'ed tell all da boyz dey wuz mukkin' about.
An' den, wif 'iz choppa (an' maybe 'iz shoota)
'Ed go about krumpin' each an' every Freeboota!
'Ed krump! An' 'ed krump! An' 'ed KRUMP!
KRUMP! KRUMP! KRUMP!

An' az da boyz thought of der oncomin' krumpin',
dey sed to eachuvva "We'z in fer a thumpin'."
And dere, in da space hulk, da boyz made a vow:
"We'z gonna make Boss Gurrinch a loota..."

"...But 'OW!?"

The conventional view of the Mechanicus, at least publicly, is that the Emperor IS the Omnisiah. A very, very large number do not believe that to be the case, but are happy to acknowledge the Emperor as a high and divine figure.
In essence, the Tech-Priests are an extremely powerful but small empire that is strongly allied with the Imperium and operates within it. In all seriousness, if Horus Heresy 2: Electric Boogaloo took place, the Tech Priests would be major players in it.
This is why the Inquisition and the Mechanicus have such a stormy relationship: many in the Mechanicus do not believe the Imperium has any authority over them.

>This is why the Inquisition and the Mechanicus have such a stormy relationship: many in the Mechanicus do not believe the Imperium has any authority over them.
And certain monodominant, over-blunt, and/or undereducated Inquisitors will say "This whole Omnissiah business reeks of heresy and the Mechanicus has far too much power for my liking, they need to be brought to heel!" And then there's another bloody stupid miniature civil war. And if it's not that, it's radical Inquisitors assembling pet enclaves of rogue techpriests/hereteks to advance their personal heresy-for-the-benefit-of-all-but-mostly-me schemes. It's always fucking something, is my point.

BUT WHAT IF WE HAD GIANT SUPER GENIUS ROBOT ARMIES?!!?!?!?!?!?!

Anyone have experience with the Inquisitor game?

Keep going, user.

Should picrelated be more or less effective at digging trenches then a regular spade?

Which would be like moving two availability levels, right?

Like Scarce to Very Hard?

What about Best quality?

I wanna say -30

>stating that you consider her specific genetic inheritance fit to continue serving the emperor beyond a single lifetime.

Less
Less leverage can be applied by the smaller lever arm compared to a normal shovel

What if it's not bionic? Just a chainspade.

Depending on what is being dug, it may be of minor help or it may cause you to accidentally kill someone with it.

Does anyone have stories / links relevant to being recruited into a chaos space warband?

I'll finish the story after Wednesday's session.

Til then, user.

So in DH 2e, how exactly do grenades work?
Do they explode immediately after the BS test is resolved or is there waiting time?

It's often overlooked in the fluff, but the Inquisition isn't linked to the Adeptus Terra (or even the Imperium), but operates directly under the authority of the Emprah. So theorically you could have Techpriests Inquisitors, as well as Cardinal/canoness inquisitors.

Right, and I was wondering about whether there was an AdMech faction that was loyal to the Imperium (Earth as opposed to Mars). wasn't exactly germane per se, but, hey, anyone even reading my shitty questions is always welcome!

My personal skulgun has the AdMech being something like a hybrid of fedora-tipping reddit nu-atheists and the professor from Event Horizon: ignorant of their position in the cosmos and wildly over-optimistic about their ability to control that position.

They explode on the turn they were thrown, yes

More-or-less, they're like the Tau who threw a meet and greet for the Necrons who had just woken up, only the Tau have an excuse as to why they're all naive schmucks: because they're all naive schmucks. Humans should already know better.

>where we are going you dont need eyes tosee

While it is theoretically possible, no inquisitor will ever trust a tech priest enough to make him an equal since they belong to a organisation that has completely different goals and beliefs than the imperium as a whole.

Nothing stops GM from houserulling detonation delay. Had a lot of fun with it when some cultist deepshits run our group out of cover with grenades that turned out to be fake. Theur autoguns thiough weren't

In my game we just found a specimen of an Ork-Tyranid hybrid in the lab of a Heretek, allegedly recovered from Orctarius. Should I be worried?

>Probably not. But if they do it will likely be worse than you could possibly imagine.

I dunno' I'm sure 40k-ifying the old WFRP wouldn't be that awful...maybe...the books will at least be tolerable in formatting even if the mechanics suck.

>all equipment muat be shown on your Age of Sigmar Adventure Quest player character model
>if your Age of Sigmar Adventure Quest player character model contains parts from a non-GW source it will not be legal for tournament play

Just say "no" to tabletop pollution in the RPG.

Are there rules for an Adeptus Custodes spear?
