Apothecary is easier to play now. I can squeeze those shot-gun blasts out at top speed since the game can register my individual clicks better.

Sweet, I play apothecary too. Shame one my laptop's fans died and I have to wait for a replacement that just doesn't seem to arrive.

Free access codes anyone?

runs pretty good

Runs a lot better, but it needs more.

I'd also like to see SP AI improved.

Brother Nahum a best

>Used to ran like shit, barely 30 FPS that would drop when firing
>Silky smooth 60 FPS

Sweet baby jesus.

Also, screw you, Barachiel's the death machine when you give him claws or Hammer.

>rig literally couldn't run the game beyond 5 fps
>now runs at 30-45 fps and only dips to 15 when super fuck huge hordes of Nids spawn

Not ideal but goddamn it's playable.

Do the armor upgrades you get from playing have any effect or are they just cosmetic?

In the campaign they boost your defense.

In MP, purity seals do the same.

Still kinda slow on my toaster, but noticeably better. I was fine playing it before though.

So on the title screen there's the list of copyrights and such.

In that list I can see Blood Angels, Ultramarines and Space Wolves. Does this mean we might get those as DLC expansions?

If we do I hope it's not just reskinned Termies.

I think that's just the standard GW copyright that gets put in all their games.

They need to add full customization to the Terminators. I want to be able to select from a half dozen different helmets, plastrons, pauldrons, greaves, gauntlets and pteruges. In fact, give me whole different suits of armor with different defense and agility ratings.

Oh gotcha.

I agree with this 100% also the ability to eventually unlock Pre-Heresy Terminator Armor would be fucking radical.

Yeah, that would be awesome. Something like the Space Marine video game's customization options for the multiplayer.

Don't know why they didn't just do this to begin with.

Honestly, I think they would have been better off making the game be Deathwatch instead of Deathwing. That way, you can have a lot of chapters, without having to make too many changes to each guy, since they'll all have black armor with silver arms.

I said it once and I'll say it again.

If the Eternal Crusade developers had just taken the base of Space Marine and simply added onto it going so far to hire some of the Space Marine developers it would have been an amazing game.

I kinda hope they do something like this in the future. Having a first person Deathwatch game would be pretty hype.

I CAN FEEL THE WARP OVERTAKING ME

IT IS A GOOD PAIN.

Is anyone else really impressed by all the environment models?

The Imperial Guard stuff specifically is really well done, can't wait till someone ports them into SFM or something like that.

The environments and atmosphere are easily the best part. Gameplay is fine, if a tad repetitive. Though, it really sucks when later missions in the campaign starts repeating maps.

I hope they come out with DLC campaigns later with more levels, else even multiplayer is gonna get samey really quickly.

Yeah in it's current state it's far from perfect but for the 40 bucks i got it for it was pretty worth it. Especially since the devs actually give a fuck and will patch more to improve things and what not.

I get wood when that assault cannon spins up

Im tired of space hulks games literally anything else would have been cooler/better

The Mechanicum hulk was tight as fuck. I laughed when all the messages were in binharic.

desu this is one of the better Spess Halk games. but i will agree they probably should have done something other than a Space Hulk game

>give both Brothers storm bolters
>get a half chub hearing all 3 firing in full auto mode during a Nid assault

No better feeling.

I mean yeah its cool

but how much space hulk games are there? I dont even classify space hulk as fully 40k entirely aswell.

Just give me an FPS just like this but with Storm Troopers or a steal Catachan game or something other than an strategy game and space hulk

It's a damn shame that Brother Healbottus isn't worth shit if he doesn't have his narthecium, and Brother Retardus dies in 3 seconds unless you give him TH/SS.

I need a Storm Trooper/Catachan FPS in my life so badly.

Also on the topic of the 2 Tardinators you have in the campaign.

Has anyone else had problems with the hotkey commands and such?

Like i'll press 'G' to tell them to move to a certain spot and Healbro will just heal himself and neither will move. Or I'll tell one of them to block a door and instead they just run through it and almost get killed by the Nids chasing us.

I actually prefer the Vengeance over the standard Assault Cannon. Much meatier of a firing sound, and it reks Broodlords easily.

Can anyone figure out why in the God-Emperor's sake you would ever use the plasma cannon? Like, the Spear of Caliban is fine, but the base plasma cannon fires too slowly, jams all the time, and kills too few guys to be worth it against the other heavy weapons.

>Bara is kinda useless
>constantly locks himself on the other sides of doors
>Kinda sucks with the assault cannon
>Give him the thunder hammer
>He watches in bemusement as genestealers attacks bounces off his thick skull
>Casually crushes them with ease afterwards
I swear Bara is a fucking Ogryn

>give Bara lighting claws
>tell him to defend a doorway while i get a Relic
>hear nothing but rip and tear noises for a solid minute
>barely any damage received and the walls are painted with Tyranid gore

BARA SMASH.

Biggest problem I saw was Retardus getting caught behind locked doors, or Retardus being set to defend and instead going off on a magical adventure, alone, deep into the hulk. Good thing he could survive if he had TH/SS.

Then it all made sense when at the end he says how baller it is to die in glory, and Healbot is all "Dude we can escape you know" and he's all "Aww." Nigga's got a death wish.

>Also wanting Tartaros and Cataprhactii

>Can anyone figure out why in the God-Emperor's sake you would ever use the plasma cannon?

It instagibs the basic dudes in a huge radius, at a fair fire rate, and staggers the Giga-Nids. You can stunlock them with it. Shotgunning close range or the ground will guarantee crowd control. You give up long range accuracy, but that's what Healbot is for.

The art direction is top notch but the level design itself needs serious work. I love big, gothic spaces as much as anyone but the game needed way more claustrophobia. There were only a couple of areas which felt that way.

They got it kinda backwards. You search for clues and relics in the tight, claustrophobic areas, while you fight legions of stealers in the pretty and open places.

Should have been the other way around .Spring more attacks in the hallways, have the rooms be more about finding secrets and lore.

Yeah I agree, still the black templar ship tunnels are scary as fuck

Speaking of the relics.

Are they supposed to show a little lore behind them when you select them in the Relics menu? Because for me nothing happens when I select the individual relics and im a bit bummed that i can't read any lore stuff behind the shiny bits I've gathered.

He's probably part of a Death cult or something

>playing multi with friends
>in the corner of my vision, see thick genestealer conga-line scuttling along horizontal pipe
>turn and mash my psychic powers in panic
>cast fireball
>middle of the conga-line disappears inside blast, guts and giblets rain onto walkway below

fucking sick, I love the warp

Does the willpower meter actually do anything?

As far as I can tell each Relic uses a different model. I know I've found a bunker and sleeping bag STCs.

How can you tell what kind of stc you got? They all look like giant USB to me

The only thing that I know of is if you max it for a level you can call in one more psi gate

He's been with the Deathwatch. Brother Bara's seen some shit.

This game would be cooler and make alot more sense if it was death watch

Major Relics (the ones you can see in the gallery) have a unique model with each one and have a super glow effect on them

Minor relics are just STC Modules.

Nah, it's just another day in the life of a terminator. Don't need to be deathwatch to do this shit.

That's weirdly exactly what I feel is off about this game's story. There isn't really a big build up and pay off. It just seems like the Terminators doing their day job. No big boss fight, no real climax. Just one mission after another.

I like that, but I am also a bit of a weirdo.

The throwbacks to original spacehulk missions made me more excited than I'd like to admit.

The problem I had with it was that there seemed like buildup with little in the way of payoff. The seem to start building up a heretical angle that never goes anywhere - Chaos-corrupted Fallen, surrealistic visions of the shop being consumed by the Warp, big stone obelisk with the eight-pointed star emerging from it. There's nothing wrong with making a Space Hulk game exclusively about genestealers, but don't set it up like it's something else.

Plus, I never really got the sense that my efforts were contributing to the larger operation. We never see other squads consolidating the gains we were making. We backtrack through the Will of Caliban and Sanctum Imperialis and there's no sign that anyone else has been there.

I also didn't like the last mission just being a retread of the first run through the Sanctum Imperialis and I didn't buy that overloading these dinky little plasma relays are going to cause the entire hulk to explode. At a minimum, they should have opened up some other part of the map - maybe the relay chambers could connect to it - where something more impressive and destructive-looking was waiting to be tampered with,

I actually think that's a problem throughout the game - the aesthetic is there but the scale seems way off. For all that these are enormous spaces, they're tiny, tiny parts of their respective ships - or they're actually tiny ships. We really needed at least a couple of sections where you emerge from fighting through a maze of twisty pipes and corridors into some huge and inaccessible area. They kind of did this with the engine room on Cadia's Hand but it could have been used to great effect in the geneseed vault, just have rows and rows of refrigeration stacks stretching off into the fog rather than another room-with-pillars boss arena to wrangle broodlords in.

Yeah, as soon as Belial said "Begin the hunt for the Fallen" at the end of the first mission, I was expecting to run into some Chaos marines or something. I mean, I prefer the Tyranids to Chaos, so I was kinda happy we didn't have another "Chaos was the real bad guy, mwhahaha" story like Space Marine or Dawn of War 1, but it was weird that they seemed to hint at that.

I mentioned this in the last thread, but I think Deathwing would've been better as a Metroidvania. Instead of having discrete missions which you're just going to retread, anyway, have the entire game on one contiguous map, but treat each ship as a separate zone. Alien: Isolation - to which Space Hulk: Deathwing compares unfavorably, at times - did something similar to great effect, making an otherwise small playable area feel large and dynamic as a result.

You can bring in other genre staples like save rooms, too, and really change up the dynamic. Maybe drop Psigate entirely so you can't just bail in the middle of a combat encounter, you can only return to the bridgehead from a teleportarium. Roaming servoskulls and your own auspex only provide limited automapping visibility, you have to find the ship's map room to get a full layout Those could tie into objectives, too - in order to use either, first you have to restore power to this part of the hulk. Etc., etc.

>catachan jungle stealth/survival game
>storm trooper squad based FPS
>imperial guard platoon/tank game styled Valkyrie Chronicles
>Adeptus Mechanicus sim micro-management style game
>imperial knights kaiju-style fighting tyranid things
>ork 'item collecting' game where you loot all the things and make customizable everything to loot more things with because FIGHTAN' N' LOOTAN'

Since this is the only somewhat relevant thread, how the fuck do you play Eldar in BFGA?

Imperium and Chaos aren't doing it for me, and it turns out the memes about setting Tau to autoengage and winning against everything but orks was absolutely true.

He's a big guy

>C.A.T

Fuck that

I think they wanted to do more that just nids, look at the interviews when the game was announced. They wanted to incluse orks and chaos cults alongside the genestealers.

Turns out they only got the licence of Space hulks which means nothing but nids so here is my theory: They recorded the lines and made the maps only to discover they couldnt add anything chaos related so they scrap it and keep some of the lines in the game.

That is why there is no payoff at the end but I like how the singleplayer ends just like E.Y.E just crossing some random game

This took me some time too.

I play them like mongols or archer cavalry in the total wars. Have swhoever is just out of range swoop in/launch torpedos, frontal canons and turn around and get back out of range. Between speed boost and Holo fields anything long range can't hurt that bad. If you get three ships to do this from different angles they never get a fix, then you can lightning strike.

>C.A.T
Not even that, did you not catch the Suicide Mission plot? They even tell you to bring Barachiel's heavy weapon to the control room.

Meh, call me when the singleplayer is playable with friends instead of the tacked on coop that does not even play the audio messages that tell the story.

Here is the real question: How in the FUCK you play Space Marines? They feel very, very gimp as fuck

While talking about dream 40k games here is mine I posted in /v/ a few threads ago

>Ork game
>plays like Gear up, Luftrausers and Robocraft mixed in one game of third person vechicle action game
>the tone is silly sometimes in normal ork fashion but we see the struggle and fear of the other races when the Orks show up to murder the fuck out of them
>you star in your own Ork infested world fighting other orks until you unite them all.
>game map is something like Battlefleet Gothic Armada in which you jump from system to system
>each system is held by one of the races of 40k (aside from the nids)
>this mean you get to loot tech from other races and add them to your own
>that means there is a very wide mix of option for your own vehicle from Admech erradicator beams, Space marines land raider chasis, IG baneblade treads, Eldar grav tech, Tau rail guns, Necron gaus blasters, chaos warpfire cannons you name it.
>the plot is simple: you are a Big Mek tired of working with the same gubbinz all the time so you gather your meks to star a WAAAGH! and loot other races

That is one of my dream games but GW would never greenlight such thing since the Focus is not the Space marines

You play space marines in team battles. 1v1 they are dogshit. Especially if opposition is Chaos with acheronspam and upgrades in range and he knows how to scout.

I wonder why they didn't. Eternal crusade is clearly inspired by SM, but feels different. I haven't played it, but I've seen gameplay vids.

I'm guessing Vaul's Maneuver is an absolutely essential skill for pretty much everything?

Also, why the hell do the Tau only have one battleship variant; I'd prefer to take something that isn't 400 points because it comes with three escorts.

How about a racing game based on Gorka-Morka?

>Custom vehicles
>Instead of actually racing you could try and blow all opponents up
>Different types of races "with gunz" "only spiky gubbinz and ramming" "just speedin` around"
>Shit like hooks, harpoons, spiked disks to bust opponent's tires.
>Crew management. Have boyz on your vehicle duke it out versus other boyz on other vehicles - be it assault when you are very close and they can climb into other vehicle or dakka-dakka at each other as cars are speeding up.
>Sometimes you spice it up by riding into arena to duke it out in FFA style
>Orky humour and craziness

Oh god holy fuck, how do I beat Tau as Eldar. This is some immense fuckery.

I need Battle Brothers

Server Rip and Tear

PW: getshitdone

time and money.

>with a few simple modifications, one terminator can become 5 terminators!

oh never heard of this looks fun
>windows only
fuck
how well does it run on wine

In a lot of cases it doesn't even run well on Windows.

Pretty good now. If you have an AMD you're more likely to have problems though. And make sure your drivers are up to date, especially the audio ones.

>When you really have to take a shit

so ... Green Mad Max?

Apparently Streum On wanted to make an ork bike racing game at first but GW said no. So maybe after EYE 2.

Four years in development and they ran out of time?

Because they ran out of money. Neither they nor Focus are AAA players. Streum On has less than 20 people, which is probably less than any AAA studio's big department.
Everyone wished they were Blizzard in that aspect, basically not giving a shit about how long it takes to make a game, because they can afford to say "it's finished when it's finished". At some point you have to release it because you have to get some money back.

K...KEEP ME POSTED.

They can barely make playable FPSes, with three of them under their belt, and they want to try a completely different genre. These guys really have a poor grasp of their abilities.

youtube.com/watch?v=SwE24fwZAOQ

Well there's that. They say end of 2017. I'm staying cautious as their previous games were pretty bad, but it has potential, the open world with randomly generated environments can be ineresting.

No. What happened was they had this crazy story ready, including Fallen, chaos, time fucks, etc. But the GW supervisors couldn't understand it. So they sent Gav Thorpe to rewrite the story and simplify it. They said this on stream. That's why there's so much cut content.

No, they just screwed up. Fatshark's not a big studio, either, and they made Vermintide fucking awesome.

It's not enough to make a game look good. Anyone can do that, now, as long as they have a couple of halfway decent artists and a license from Crytech, Epic, id or Unity. Even Gamebryo doesn't look like ass, anymore. Your middleware does all the heavy lifting and it's all supported by the licensor, you just need to plug in the content.

Space Hulk plays like a muddled, directionless mess because the developers didn't know what kind of game they wanted to make, and it shows in every aspect of gameplay. For crying out loud, they wanted to do their squad-based cooperative tactical shooter without multiplayer and had to bolt on a half-baked lobby system at the last minute because of the very public backlash - and it still doesn't even let you play the whole campaign online, just the maps and objectives.

That just seems weird to me. GW is traditionally very hands on with is licensees, I'd have thought that they would've put a stop to that much, much earlier in development, before any content had been developed to cut.

I agree but have a look at that. That's Fatshark. More than twice the amount of people at Streum On. Although Cyanide did help with some production stuff, I doubt they helped in the actual making of the game.

However some critics are justified, like how you should be looking for relics in big rooms and fighting in small corridors, and not the other way around (altough it could get boring real fast if only one dude can shoot because it's too cramped or another dies as soon as the shooting start because of friendly fire)

What happened to him?

Yeah, because EYE's pretentious "story" wasn't bad enough.
That's basically EYE's coop structure. The same maps, but with some token objectives to complete.

>altough it could get boring real fast if only one dude can shoot because it's too cramped or another dies as soon as the shooting start because of friendly fire
Again, this is a problem with direction and wholly attributable to a lack of vision on the part of the developers, not a lack of resources

If you're making a Space Hulk game, your first focus should be on how to keep corridor combat challenging and visceral. Genestealers should pop if you tag them with your stormbolter but tear you limb from limb if one manages to close in and get it's claws on you - your eyes should be on your auspex just as much as on the corridor, ahead, because it should be the genestealer you can't see lying in wait around the corner or clinging to the ceiling that you need to worry about, not the swarm of them bearing down on you.

Planning your route, marching order, fields of fire, coverage of your flanks and rear are all things that should require real consideration. Space Hulk is a tactical game, it should reward careful planning and preparation and punish clumsy run-and-gun thoughtlessness. It should work best with a squad of real players communicating and working cooperatively so it should have been developed with online play front and center, rather than a begrudging afterthought.

Instead, someone got the bright idea that what Space Hulk fans really wanted was a single-phase game with a computer-controlled healbot and meat shield, where every level is a series of arenas where you're zerg rushed repeatedly. Weapons were gimped with low accuracy and negligible damage to ensure that you can't just kill them all at range over open ground - which is what should happen when a genestealer come charging at you from forty or fifty meters away.

I wish this was a better game.

Shit I wasn't the only one having trouble with Barachiel constantly locking himself outside of doors?

>Press G to tell Murdertard and Healtard to move down hallway
>Healtard uses our last medical charge and heals me even though I'm at 100%

What the fuck.

>mfw getting swarmed by hundreds of standard 'stealers and 3-4 scythe strains in the savior pod mission

If I disable my sound card my laptop gets silky smooth on high even with swarms.

But yaknow, no sound. Running an i7 and a gtx860m (or whatever it's called) so it's not an amd/ati problem

man that ending was pretty anticlimactic

you don't even find out if the actual battle for the planet was successful or not, but I guess it's implied

youtube.com/watch?v=ndLhrTw-wgA

>mfw barely survive Nid assault at the end of Chapter 4 after expending all of my psygates and med charges

Yeah, the quick commands are broken. It's safer to use the command wheel
