Love edition
Who does your runner love?
And who loves your runner?
Platonic love included

My runner loves only himself.

But sadly, that love is unrequited.

Nobody, because they're not in any games.

>born to big but very poor farming family in Honduras
>left as a teenager to join Aztlan army
>this was a mistake
>thoroughly traumatized by getting repeated shot up during the Bogota war
>ended up falling in with the cartels after the war was over
>check in on family, they've left for more fertile pastures and no one knows where they are
>the party Face is cute and so is her player, but her player already has a boyfriend
At least my orc streetsam will always have gloryholes, Bliss and his GMC Phoenix.

>gloryholes
Giving or receiving?

Giving. Mind you, he's looking for the ones between the men's washroom and the women's washroom, so they aren't always easy to find.

So how do gloryholes work, exactly? Are you at risk of encountering a random dick if you walk into the wrong toilet stall, or is there some sort of shibboleth or signal you give to communicate that cock would be welcome?

> giving
> to a woman through a hole
Either you meant receiving or you're playing Gene Simmons.

In real life or shadow run?
> pulls out rule book

I assume there's an AR app in Shadowrun. Both to find the holes and project your choice of fantasy for what you want to be on the other side.

I don't know all the various terminology associated with gloryholes, user. All I know is that I'm one side of the hole, there's a chick on the other side of the hole and we'll never know who each other are.

In mechanics terms I guess a gloryhole would be a gap in the GM screen that the GM fucks your character's over through.

Yes, chick.

It's not a chick. It's a dude that gets off on sucking straight dick, so he sneaks into the ladies' toilets to get at that gloryhole.

Have you not seen straight gloryhole porn before?

Do you honestly think porn is realistic?

Nah, man, the hole IS the fantasy. Seeing the other side defeats the purpose. People don't go to glory holes as a last resort, they're into it.

What is the best way to use Physical Barrier spell? Can I multicast several weak barrier? Each one would absorb 1 damage right?

For every chick that gets off on sucking anonymous dick, there's about two hundred gay guys that do.

The professional stuff? No. Now, the homemade amateur stuff on the other hand...

Who said mouths were involved?

Yeah, but glory hole porn isn't about identifying with the man, it's about the spectacle of the desperate woman. There's very little overlap between people who watch glory hole porn and those who use glory holes. I mean if you like watching, then you probably wouldn't enjoy a sexual act predicated upon not being able to see your partner.

...

You could probably make one and stick your dick through it. See if anyone on the other side will suck it.

Old thread just died, so I'm postin git here

I recently updated Chummer from an older version.

What's this Family and Blackmail box under Contacts?

Rules from Run Faster. Basically does stuff with the contact's loyalty and what they'll do for you, costs a bit of karma.

Thanks

Somehow I never noticed that part in Run Faster

Sure, but if it was your best chance to get laid because you're an ugly, cybered up streetsam orc with 0.02 essence and literally no social skills?

Hookers, omae.

I would think his best chance of getting laid would involve nuyen changing hands. At said gloryhole you'r hoping someone will show up,but if you pay someone they're there till the cash runs out.

Wouldn't sex fall under the Entertainment part of your Lifestyle? Glory holes would be street level, if you've got low you could at least afford the occasional blow-and-go from a working girl.

Eh, need money for the GMC Phoenix. Yerzing your ride out and installing luxury accommodations isn't cheap, and that's just the impractical stuff he wants to do with it. He can hit up the bunraku parlors once he's got the car of his dreams.

What house rules, if any, do you chummers use at your table for 5E? What has worked and what hasn't?

Not using 5e, for starters.

Ha ha ha so funny

Our houserules are focused on character generation, specifically Karmagen. We lose the metatype cost and treat your attributes as one instead of whatever their base is.

It hasn't been really abused since everyone still does humans anyway

Street: Finding an empty alley to rub one out to the thought of the elf girl you saw at the bus stop.
Squatter: Glory holes in the toilets at the gym and public library..
Low: A blow-and-go from a disinterested prostitute every other week.
Medium: Your choice of happy endings at a decent massage parlour where they actually do massages as well, a moderately pretty hooker that actually remembers your name and fakes a smile, or a line of credit at a local bunraku parlour.
High: Where hookers become escorts. Very attractive women with either low mileage or high skills. Niche fetish services, such as pro doms or specially wared joygirls or boys.
Luxury: Any or all of a skilled, attractive, and attentive mistress, a regular rotation of world-class beauties, or a basement containing your choice of robotic or genetically engineered sex toys.

>Squatter: Glory holes in the toilets at the gym and public library..
>gloryholes
>public library
Guess I've got some "reading" to do.

I can't remember if this is how it actually works in the books but we use a sort of mana sharing system where if a magic user forfeits their action during combat they can give their magic+spellcasting dice to another mage so they can use a fuckhuge spell. The downside is that everyone involved needs to individually resist drain for the size of spell cast. The result is some really fun LEND ME YOUR ENERGY dragonball style stuff. This also works for counterspelling.

>The result is some really fun LEND ME YOUR ENERGY dragonball style stuff.
So has anyone "spiritbombed" yet?

The closest we've come to that was when the players were in a car chase on a highway and they had to fight an enemy toxic mage. The thing with our magic system is that enemies can use it too, so a dude in the car ahead of them was amassing a fuckhuge amount of energy to cast toxic spray and the entire party had to pool their resources to counterspell and BARELY accomplished it. Then they worked together to summon a massive spirit and won the encounter.

The more we play shadowrun the more we realize we like this system a lot, but love it when we use it in our own way.

Physical wall is transparent. It's not lewd enough

Where can I find stat for critter?

I want to use change shape to turn into an eagle.

Made an lewd Orc Pornomancer. Porn Actress specializes in Orksploitation/Elfsploitation. She aspires to someday be rich and famous either in her current field or as a real big-screen actress. Runs the shadows for method acting experience for future roles.

Its unoptimized, its retarded, its magical realm as shit.

pastebin.com/1VrXjRCc

Howling Shadows. Eagles are page 41.

There are some in SR5 and Howling Shadows is the critter book.

My last runner was still hopelessly in love with his ex-wife.

For my players...

>Technomancer Elf camgirl loved by her fans and her aloof Human big brother
>Artificial intelligence does not know how to love, refers to everyone as a meatbag, frequently manipulates others using an adorably modified hedgehog drone
>Sociopathic Face probably doesn't even love herself
>Aforementioned big bro PhysAd loves little sister, is a fragging moron because he combines his with a massive savior complex and a go-it-alone attitude

She tazed him on their first meeting in two years. Filmed it, edited the footage to anonymize both of them, posted it on the Matrix. He still doesn't know.

Picture probably unrelated.

>Shock gloves.
>Ultra-Glide Industrial Lubricant (liter).

I chuckled.

You should probably have some ranks in performance, even if it's only a token one

Was meant for.

Thanks!

It is the ultimate tool for get away's. Use it to cause the perusing vehicle to crash, cut them off, fix that leaking hole in your roof.

He loves his daughter. Sadly she is following his footsteps and becoming a runner too. And now his Ex-wife wants him dead.

>implying you need social skills

Just flex those muscle implants and slot Pickup_Lines_For_Drunk_Slots.sklchp

Translucent. It's glowing an equivalent to light fog.

The trick would be ramming your dick through it hard enough to overcome 1 point of Armour and Structure rating per hit when casting, without taking it down to 0 and making the barrier collapse.

What's the best gear a rigger can get?
Right now I have the liegelord and the bulldog, but if I'm wrong say so now.

so I was in the slums the other day and I saw this guy casting spells. I watched him for a minute, he didn't notice me. He kept conjuring up this huge wall of light, then it would vanish after a few seconds. I take a closer look and every time he gets the barrier to appear he drops his pants and thrusts his dick into the barrier. Every time he tries he either bounces off painfully or shatters the whole thing. Moral of the story: I'm taking a different train home from work now.

Holy drek, I think I saw the same guy. I actually went up to him and told him that if he's trying to get off I can just suck his dick for him, but then he went on a long rant about how there's no point if he can see my face so I just made my excuses and got out of there.

NO, THERE HAS TO BE A WALL. That's the whole point!

My current character just loves their job. Pretty much pic related, except slightly less upbeat and an androgynous human street Sam.

Maybe one day they'll find a person or persons to love, but currently they haven't found anyone and are too busy with their craft to go looking or care.

>Who does he love?
Everyone, and everything. Horizon did a real number on his brain.
He can't swear, he doesn't feel anger, and he loves everyone.
Platonically.
Sexual lust was another thing they removed.

>Who loves him?
I'd say his cat, but really that little shit's just in it for the catnip.

What's a good houserule system for simplifying the fuck out of decking?

>who does he love?
Does money count?

>who loves him?
Going by my record, bullets. Bullets love him very much.

I think I will steal this just in case someone asks how an ugly fuck gets laid.

My runner loves money, status and people.
To him, those three things are really just one thing that come in different forms. You can use one to get the other.

Is it viable for an AI to use an Anthroform Drone as their Home Node?

Bless you, Veeky Forums.
Never change.

Hey chummers I need your expert opinions.

If you made an adept who was a face/gunslinger whats the minimum dicepool you'd want for social skills and for one ranged skill?

Would it be viable to make a gunslinger/face instead? How would the dice pools change then?

>Mana barriers on the physical plane are invisible (except to astral perception), but they act as solid
>Awakened characters have discovered other methods of forcing their way through an astral barrier besides the use of brute force

I guess it was just a matter of time before someone tried to squeeze their dick through one.

For NPC use or PC use?
The bonus of a drone being your home node isn't super useful most of the time, while a commlink/cyberdeck home node can have a higher firewall or sleaze, which helps you be less atrociously awful.

Generally speaking, I recommend treating your home node like a lich's phylactery. It shouldn't be something you keep WITH you in day to day actions, if possible.
12-16 is easily achievable in both, being a face doesn't have a huge investment beyond situational modifiers that your GM will most likely ignore anyway.

PC use.

>most of the time
>Generally speaking
Any edge cases I should be aware of?

5e

If you're running as a drone that doesn't have Pilot Origins and are using autosofts instead of regular skills and you absolutely NEED to have 7 hits instead of 6 or whatever, it can be helpful to increase your Handling or Sensor or whatever, since you can't spend Edge to blow past the limit.
Hrm. Simplest rules I've seen offload pretty much everything onto the GM; hacking becomes a skill test, results based on net hits. The rules I generally use are based on Ends of the Matrix, which is all about brain hacking and turning hacking into spellcasting, but they're a rather aggressive change and not super compatible with 5e.

Am I right in thinking that Assensing is Perception on anything with essence, lets you do the diagnostic parts of First Aid and Medicine, can be a scanner for things like cyberware, and can help with detective work on anything magical?

cause if it is this skill is fuckin awesome and appeals to my boner for second sight in games

>brain hacking and turning hacking into spellcasting
Personally, I'd rather see it turned into something like GitS SAC or Innocence, where it's fluid in use and closer to matrix martial art techniques for short-lived combat effects, but still has potential for extended preparation.

It's the extended prep hacking, extreme hardware & software customisation, and matrix speed (initiative and action macros) that hackers should be going for, anyway.

>Am I right in thinking that Assensing is Perception on anything with essence
No, it's Perception on the astral plane.
>lets you do the diagnostic parts of First Aid and Medicine
No, you get a general idea and then need to know your shit for better understanding.
> can be a scanner for things like cyberware
In the most generalised way, yes, it will suggest where implants are or have been.
>and can help with detective work on anything magical
Mostly yes.

It's also how you make yourself vulnerable to spirits and mana barriers.

What's the Seattle setting book for 5e?

>The bonus of a drone being your home node isn't super useful most of the time

...

>Optimization can also improve an attribute of vehicles and drones, but the bonus is a static +1.

>The Device Rating of a drone is the same as its Pilot Rating, meaning all of its Matrix attributes are equal to the Pilot Rating.

+1 Pilot is effectively +1 to all four matrix attributes.

Just bought Shadowun: Dragonfall on steam for 3 bucks. Loving it, though I feel that starting my first character as a mage was a poor decision. Lots of decker options and high intelligence stuff early on.

Does mage get neat stuff later?

Can I ask you to site this? not doubting you as this looked like how it worked to me, but I'd like to be clearer on this. A drone can support programs equal to half it's pilot rating right?

Those are direct quotes from DT & Core. Ctrl + F is your friend.

>A drone can support programs equal to half it's pilot rating right?
I recall someone on the official forums saying that's changed, but cbf checking it.

Kind of? It depends heavily on how many hits you're able to get for anything beyond 'Yup, they're alive' but really isn't gonna give you much in specifics.
You gain +1 to all Matrix Attributes the drone has, which is only Data Processing and Firewall since it's not a Cyberdeck. The Firewall bonus is useless since AIs use their own Firewall rating when defending against attacks, and Data Processing isn't used by any interesting tests either, largely functioning as a Limit.

In practical terms, +1 Pilot gives you a +1 Initiative, generally gives 1 Matrix Condition Monitor box, and a dice-pool bonus of 1 to every skill test you use autosofts for, and usually a bonus slot to host another program in, or negate having your fat digital ass squatting in it. In trade of that, you get to risk having your home node bricked OR physically destroyed, each of which will cause you to have to resist Fragmentation damage to your Essence.

I can't decide between Hawk Eye or Quick Healer.

12 dice to visual perception, 13 dice to using his gun but medium range for the gun is at 6 meters

13 dice to first aid (thanks to medkit and rapid healing power), 7 dice to natural physical healing, 8 dice to natural stun healing

Based on your experiences which problem comes up more often?

Maybe it's just my group, but I've made a healing test maybe once.

Get Hawk Eye. If you see trouble coming, you'll get hurt less. And if at any point you really need to ace a healing roll, there's always Edge.

Hawk Eye and Tetrachromacy.

>What's a good houserule system for simplifying the fuck out of decking?
You make a simple pass/fail roll with a Threshold set by the GM. If you succeed, them your task is accomplished. If you fail, your task isn't accomplished.

You know, like every other roll in the game.

Just eliminate the idea that it needs its own subsystem entirely.

Noise still applies, and Firewall/Device Rating ends up being the threshold for most actions. A glitch means you got detected (though possibly still succeeded) while a critical glitch probably means you device spontaneously reboots or you get GOD on your ass or something.

Basic, easy, and the least retarded that hacking has been in literally any edition.

>not having some sort of hyper-elasticity ware or adept power

It's like you don't even suck your own dick.

Hey /srg/ I'm still relatively new to tabletop games, and I've only started playing them two years ago with DnD 5th edition.

I'm looking for something a little bit different than DnD and wanted your opinion on Shadowrun. What is good about the system and what are some bad things about it? How is the 5th edition of Shadowrun? Is the core rulebook enough to start playing?

Okay, you see the pastebin in the OP?
SAVE IT
in the pastebin you should read the first link, also check out the mediafire/mega for all the books
Also pic related

>Is the core rulebook enough to start playing?
Yes, though there are books that add more gear/qualities/cyberware/etc.

Also: If you want to know about it check the archives (like desuarchive.org/tg/) and read the old threads. Usually there is a recommendation of the books

Honestly more games should do this. Hacking is absolutely the worst part of the SR experience.

overall the universe is cool but some of the recent fluff sucks gorilla penis

mechanically it's expansive but crunchy

core rulebook is enough. only books i would consider "required" are run faster and run & gun

The Seattle Sprawl Box Set

Just finished playing my first session! Thanks to you guys, I'm doing pretty good.

When do sustained spell disapppear? I have a free (via focused concentration) Force 1 Magic Fingers with 12 hits (I used edge to push the limit).... not sure how long can I have this up.

You can have it up indefinitely, but you take a -2 to all other actions. You can drop it whenever you want, though.

Focused Concentration 1 means I ignore that -2 penalty right?

So I can even sustained it even when I'm sleeping?

nope, if you go unconscious (whether by force or by going to sleep then your spell ends

the only way around that is IIRC the anchoring metamagic

Thanks!

Anchoring is for delaying a spell, not sustaining it.
And afaik sleeping doesn't end a sustained spell. You just can't do anything with it, and continue to take the penalty even after you wake up.

Yes. A second spell, or any one at Force 2 or higher, though, will still apply the penalty. And it's cumulative with every spell you cast/sustain, so sustaining 2 spells gives you -4(-2 with Focused Concentration), 3 gives you -6, etc

I don't know if 5e changed it, but in 4e it said
>Many spells can be sustained for as long as the magician
>is willing to concentrate on the spell, as noted in the spell’s
>Duration. While sustained spells do offer the opportunity to
>have an ongoing magical effect, they are also draining on the
>magician’s magical abilities. For each sustained spell the magician
>maintains, she suffers a –2 dice penalty on all other tests.
[...]
>If the gamemaster chooses, certain circumstances may
>threaten to break a magician’s concentration while she is sustaining
>a spell, such as taking damage, full defense, dropping prone,
>and so on. If a magician’s concentration is disrupted while sustaining
>a spell, she must make a Willpower + Spellcasting (2)
>Test to avoid dropping the sustained spell (note that the sustaining
>modifier does not apply to this test).

based on this I'd argue that if taking damage can break your concentration, then sleeping definitely will

and yeah, it wasn't Anchoring it was Quickening

5e has nothing about damage breaking concentration. It just gives you penalties to defending against damage(and anything else).

huh.. I guess I could use my newly earn Karma to learn a bow skill or something... Is there any other way to better utilize those 12 Agility and 12 Strength (sadly with only 1 physical limit, so it's not good at punching).

I like the system for its rules. It gives me a sence of control I enjoy. The rules also can help rolplay aspects. People have hit boxes instead of hp which feel a more organic and the selecting of qualities can give the most bland character some kind of background.
