Infinity is a 28mm scale futuristic skirmish game by Corvus Belli where everyone needs some time to relax between the interstellar wars and endless subterfuge.
Semi-newfag here, looking to go from collecting to actually playing.
1) Are any of you fuckers in the southern new jersey area? Around Atlantic City?
2) What's the best point level I can play at with the following models? > Aleph Starter Pack (3 DAKINI Tacbot w/ combi-rifle, 1 Deva w/ Combi-Rifle, 1 NAGA Hacker w/ Assault Hacking + Combi-Rifle, 1 Asura w/ Multi-Rifle) > Steel Phalanx Starter Pack (3 Thorakitai w/ Combi-Rifle, Chain Rifle, and Light Rocket Launcher, 1 Agema Marksman w/ Missile Launcher, 1 Myrmidon Hacker w/ Assault Hacking + AP CCW, Eudoros) > Phoenix > Machaon > Myrmidon Pack (Chain Rifle, AP CCW, Boarding Shotgun, Combi-Rifle) > Authorized Bounty Hunter
Nathan Baker
That's not a Boarding Shotgun Spetsnaz
Andrew Taylor
How to start a fight on infinity general in ten seconds. The real answer is undeniably the tiger soldier though. Best in models and rules
Carter Thomas
Easily 300. Infinity is a mission heavy game so you need specialists.
Charles Powell
That's actually what I'm worried about. The shit in the ALEPH starter seems like isn't useful in Steel Phalanx, and vice versa, because of Impetuous or Frenzy or whatever the fuck it was. Meanwhile, I'm not sure I have enough specialists in Steel Phalanx to make a decent 300. What would you recommend for 300?
Ryder Gray
Not a slav
Usariadna RULES
Asher Cox
Well you can combine them quite easily. I'll see what i can throw together but you know can proxy if in reason,
Nathan Collins
In the US if you can stomach Facebook check out the WGC Infinity group. If there are players in your area they are probably on that or someone who knows who is will be.
Ayden Lee
Eagerly looking forward to this. I feel like I have no fucking idea what I'm doing at the best of times, and this doesn't seem like the easiest army to build with.
Cooper Cruz
>HMG on drop troops >in TYOOL 2016
Bentley Stewart
Neither of you has the appeal of the Fraacta or the prowess of the Tiger, so how about you go home?
Cooper Bell
I find a multi-sniper generally works quite well to drop troops....
Jason Powell
if jumpers are getting sniped then they didn't jump right
Noah Reed
Pretty sure that was not the pun that user intended to make.
Daniel White
>New Jersey ehhhh don't take it personally, but everyone I have met from NJ has been an insufferable asshole. I hope you aren't one.
There are several decent LGS in the area, call them up and see if there is a local scene.
Jason Collins
>don't take it personally, but everyone I have met from NJ has been an insufferable asshole This is absolutely true. I have worked hard to make myself only minimally so, but that's simply how people are here.
As for calling LGS, the only ones I've been able to find locally are Aetherstorm Games (Whose owner exemplifies the spoiler above) and Nerdvana, which sells the rulebook but not the models and nobody plays.
Robert Lopez
Sorry for the late reply user. was busy an shit
Try this list on for size
Its steel Phalanx you'll be running the Myrmidons as your main fireteam, with Eudoros, therefore, the impetuous and frenzy will be cancelled.
The Thorakties with 360 degrees vision will act as both cheerleaders as well rear gaurd due to their 360 line of fire. Any rear assault should be halted.
The Pheonix and the Thorakties with rocket launchers are your heavy hitters. They provide firepower to take down big targets.
Last the engineer, Hacker and Machon are just specialist to use in any way possible if needed.
How to play this army is to use heavy smoke grenades and cover your advancement. There are several weaknesses to this army the main one is shock. But apart from that its a basic army. Invest in a greek hero to upgrade it
Ethan Taylor
That's a very unusual grouping for the two combat groups. I thought you wanted as many as possible in one group, and everyone else adds in from the other when someone from the first dies?
Also, 'invest in a greek hero to upgrade it'? I've got a goodly number of heroes. I'm worried about non-hero things. These questions are asked of ignorance and curiosity, not judgement:
Why Eudoros over Machaon for the Lt.? Will Machaon, Phoenix, and the Hacker myrm be going solo, or Linking? Will people really not mind my using a guy with a rocket launcher as though he had just a chain rifle?
Gavin Reed
> 4 thorakites I just noticed this. Can I use the Agema as a Thorakite, or am I buying another one?
Nicholas Parker
Groupings are unusual, feel free to move them around they were supposed to be a bit more lobsided, but when I remade the list I got lazy. But there is a benefit to it being like this, the main one is that you have equals orders to accomplish what you need, but i would say change it.
Eudoros over Machaon cos if the fire team ever needs to be cancelled than having an extra lieutenant order is nice. Machon would make a nice LT too, since its a little less obvious.
Machaon, Pheonix and the hacker, should not be linked as they need mobility. They each serve a purpose Machon - Doctor Pheonix - Heavy Hitter Hacker - Hacker
To tie them to each other would mean they would need to stay closer to each other. Instead it would be better to have 3 Thorakati as another link team.
People wont mind as its in the ITS rule, you are allowed to proxy models. So if they have complaints then complain to Corvus Belli.
Jace Jones
Yes you can,
"PROXIES Under no circumstances can miniatures from other brands or manufacturers be used as proxies"
Camden Smith
>Instead it would be better to have 3 Thorakati as another link team. Yeah, can I just do that? I thought you needed a character.
Jack Hughes
>Machon would make a nice LT too, since its a little less obvious. Wlp 15 instead of 14 makes me feel like he'd be more obvious? Everything I've seen suggests that he should be the LT when it's an option...
Asher Young
>"I quoted a part saying you cannot do A which obviously means the rest says nothing about B" Reading comprehension failure. Here, let me quote a more relevant part:
"Each figure must represent faithfully the unit it stands for, including its equipment and weapon options."
(that said, in practice it's only for official CB events and 99% other events will give some proxy allowance)
Brody Anderson
AD Level 5 means he can AND up to three other AD of any level troop can deploy from YOUR table edge as a coordinated order
Adam Baker
thats a solid set up and made you a solid list. I dont know if you were asking but almost all games are generally played at 300 points, its where the game seems balanced
Caleb Nguyen
The snipits of lore I've read are confusing. Are Nomads driven against AELPH for religious reasons? Or religiously devoted to undermining it? When did they add the workers rights stuff to the faction? I didn't remember it being a big part before.
Evan Nelson
AD 5 is superior combat drop (Hellcats say hi).
And Coordinated Order Tac jump doesn't allow the other guys to jump in on your opponents deployment zone anymore. It's kind of the opposite as RVZ has to jump into the same section as the coordinatong AD 1 and AD2 guys, actually limiting him.
Eli Nelson
Nomads hate Aleph for all sorts of reasons. They're the rebel faction, they're not exactly homogeneous. There's a group within the Nomads called the Observance which is pretty much just a fucked up cult, they're probably what you're getting the religious stuff from.
Noah Torres
Hey, a friend and I are talking about getting into the game. He immediatly fell in love with The Japanese sector of YuJing. After, I started taking a liking to more general YuJing and their use of heavy power armours. If he played Japan and I went for general or Imperial service would the games be very boring?
Sebastian Ramirez
>If he played Japan and I went for general or Imperial service would the games be very boring? No, not at all. Very different units and play styles. Keep in mind it helps to have other people to play with/talk to about the game locally and the terrain requirement means not having a LGS to play at can be prohibitive for people on a budget.
Adam Wright
Thanks for the heads up. As long as one player wouldn't steamroll the other or be using the same tactics, I think I can figure the rest. Not to mention it being so much easier to talk someone into trying a skirmish game over a fullsize wargame.
Hunter Brooks
Bakunin hates ALEPH because it tried to destroy the Bakunin Mothership outright. That gives the other two Motherships reason to hate it because: A) there is a lot of crossbreeding between the three motherships so they have family members on board Bakunin; B) Bakunin is the industrial heart of the Nomad nation, without their manufacturing capability, the independence of the Nomad nation is incredibly unlikely.
The Observance probably grew a lot in influence due to how viciously they fought back the ALEPH incursion.
Corregidor is home to the descendants of the marginalized populations of earth that didn't make it big. They have a tremendous chip on their shoulder vs what they see as the enabler of all those hyper corps and superpowers. Tunguska's very business model is founded upon keeping data away from all prying eyes, especially ALEPH.
As for the workers rights thing, I think that's an ingrained part of the faction identity, particularly Corregidor which is basically a floating labor union. People from Corregidor look after their own. From first edition Intruders were always embedded operatives to ensure their workers weren't abused. Likewise, Mobile Brigada were the armored fist that made examples of people who did screw with their workers. Violating that innate protect the workers ethos is why the Anaconda squadron was deeply unpopular and ultimately cut loose.
Luke Murphy
There aren't really any factions in the game that would steamroll another. That comes almost purely down to player skill. JSA will be using hidden ninjas, angry bike gangs and close combat. ISS will use powerful HI, effective and cheap order generation and transforming robots.
There is actually less crossover in playstyles/unit types between these two factions than there is between say PanO and YuJing.
Jaxon Smith
I thought Corregidor was the industrial heart. Bakunin is where the science and the PR happens.
Hudson Gomez
Besides Hector, Machaon is the best Lt in the Steel Phalanx. Besides WIP15, he's a Lt specialist and gets that extra Lt order in case you need to save Regular Orders or make that last minute Objective Run.
Eudoros, Phoenix, Machaon etc etc, SP character are high priority targets, so you should learn to just play with an obvious Lt. If LoL really worries you, then take the generic Officer with Chain of Command.
Ayden Wilson
>Play Saladin often, subjecting my opponents to Strategos 3 shenanigans >People still don't try to gun him down as soon as possible or go for my obvious Farzan CoC camo token hiding in a corner
You assume they just focus objectives, but more often than not they're just bad at threat assessment and think my HRL Fasid is going to carry the game.
Brody James
Bakunin is both the mercantile trade heart and where the science happens. Lots of smuggling. That mothership was the first to be formed and convince the other two to form a nation with it. I think they might be the largest of the motherships, and either way, there's a lot of Bakunin blood flowing to and from it to the other ships. It's totally the heart and soul of Nomads.
Corregidor does all the manual labor and manufacturing. It was formed from what was once a penal space station full of insane criminals and murderers. The soldiers are also hired out as mercenaries when not needed. The other user had it right, but they they send the Mobile Brigada pain trains to take over facilities when their workers are mistreated, and ransom it back to them.
Tunguksa is Tunguksa.
Lucas Edwards
>Tunguksa is Tunguksa. [money laundering intensifies]
Dylan Parker
Cortection: Corregidor was first, but Bakunin was formed by willing exiles. They were also the ones who made Nomad Nation a thing.
Dylan Cooper
>anaconda getting cut lose due to not following up
What happened? Guess its my lack of fluff knowledge but whats the story?
Christopher Reed
I'm here in NJ and everyone is nice as shit. Maybe a little far for you but I play at Highlander Games, Timewarp games and comics, Maplewood Hobby. There's a scene at all of these stores and even a tournament coming up on the 21st at the latter.
David Watson
Thank you user
I play in an aggressive LGS, its what you fancy though. On a side note, got given some Combined army for Christmas, i'm unsure what colour scheme i should paint up, im thinking the default but replace the red with blue.
Anthony James
Ey boychick, you want buy information? I have of cheap ALEPH? Nyet, is ARACNE, we keepings you nice and safe, da?
Cooper Turner
About to assemble my Brothers Christmas present, Inshallah.
Jace Richardson
Nice scheme.
Jack Morgan
It looks daunting at first but aside from the legs it fits together like legos
Andrew James
Here's some music for you to listen to as you assemble.
>NJ nice as shit. Not an East Coastie, but I was told a while back that NJ improves in just above every way as you increase your distance from NYC.
Kayden Walker
The hull pieces for mine didnt exactly fit flush, so I had to hammer/grind the pieces together
Josiah Evans
I really like this model but I already have the old Fat Maggie, and don't have like £40 to drop on something I can already play. When Caliphate drops and has AVA2 Maghariba though (you know it to be true), I'll be all over that shit.
Nolan Wood
JSA does HI very well actually. The Haramaki are a great defensive (and now offensive) fire team while the Karakuri are amazingly durable for just having armor 3.
Basically the Anaconda squadron was contracted out to a corporation. When the Corregidor labor staged an uprising, the Anacondas stuck to the contract and put it down. Naturally this was deeply unpopular in Corregidor and the squadron was drummed out of the Nomad nation. However, the story hints that the squadron still maintains ties to the Nomad Intelligence service.
Christopher Stewart
Yeah, but JSA HI is pretty much all light and aggressive and none of it is a single big centerpiece, like the Su-Jian or a HMG Hsien with smoke. That's the main difference.
Aaron Sanders
TBF you intimated the difference between ISS and JSA HI is that ISS HI are "powerful" and not durable. The truth is both have excellent HI with JSA's being less durable, but more plentiful and with way better CC. ISS HI are more elite and, as you said, centerpiece oriented on the HI front.
Joseph Gomez
Not too bad, took about 3 hours in total, cleaning, pinning, gluing...
Been a long time since I worked on such a large metal miniature.
Really reminded me of assembling a metal Furioso Dreadnought in the 90s
Julian James
On the third day of Christmas Corvus Belli gave to me:
Three Kaeltar
Two Unit Buffs
and a Control for my Kuang Shi
Carson Lopez
Hello NJfriend, NYC here. We play Infinity and host monthly tournaments too. Check out Nu Brand Gaming and the "Infinity NY Metro" FB group and we will be happy to welcome you whenever you come for a visit.
Aaron Butler
> NYC > Anywhere near Atlantic City
I know you're used to NJ being your pet dog, but there's a little bit more to it than the bit across the river.
Jack Garcia
I have a small nomad force consisting of the icestorm box, an iguana, a bandit with boarding shotgun, and a multi-sniper intruder. What else should I buy? I was thinking either some hellcats or the tomcat box.
Sebastian Sanders
Get the Tomcats. Gotta have some doctors and engineers to fix your shit (or fuck it up if they feel like it). AD:Parachutist makes them pretty good button pushers as well.
Ryan Gray
How viable is it to play mercanaries as a faction. Is it all named characters for the most part? Where should I start? The 1d4chan page said it's about combining units from 3 factions, but I'm not sure what that means to be honest since I never seen a list of faction mercenary units.
Bentley Lee
Mercenaries are not a legal faction yet. The mercenaries list in the 1d4chan is a leftover from N2
Jason Ward
Mercenaries as a faction doesn't actually exist.
Logan Reed
So I just pick a faction and then look into mercenaries after. thanks.
Henry Gutierrez
Quite a few mercs are available to the QK sectorial for Haqq, to the point that you can field nothing but mercs at many point levels.
Would you want to mechanically? Different question.
James Foster
Because it will be 2/3 KTS and Druze, and one of the merc TAGs. At which point you are looking at Yuan Yuan to max AVA or dipping into the Haqq or Nomad troops available to QK for you last few points.
Juan Perry
Army has a function that allows mercs into your faction, but they're not ITS legal. There are a few mercs available for vanilla armies like Authorized Bounty Hunters, Krakots, Warcors, and Armand. But a few sectorials have mercs in their army lists such as JSA and QK
QK is very merc heavy: Druze and KTS are haqqislam troopers, but technically mercs. QK also gets a few Nomads, Scarface&Cordelia, and Yuan Yuans.
Bentley Carter
Ya, I know how far it is. I was making a friendly offer to someone in the general area. Plenty of us have driven just as far and further (Baltimore, Hartford, Albany) for single day events. Not expecting someone to drive up from AC for Wednesday night pick up games. Just putting us on their map.
Joseph Davis
Corregidor is mostly mercenaries according to the fluff.
Gavin Wood
Which is why Alguaciles and MB show up in the QK list.
Grayson Jackson
Infinity newfag here, these models seem like they'd be much easier to paint (at least block colours) first, then assemble, than the other way around. Am I right, or just imagining things?
Jaxson Cook
You're correct, it's a good idea to paint first and assemble later.
Alexander Butler
Ehh, it's honestly not much different from painting any other miniatures so it's a preference thing.
Benjamin Bailey
I usually half-assemble them, leaving things that cover other things too much (usually arms with weapons) disassembled. But if I can assemble in full without things not covering each other too much (eg. Fusilier Hacker, starter Spektr), I assemble in full. Note that Angel Giraldez assembles in full before painting and gets it right somehow.
Juan Allen
Angel is some sort of space paint wizard.
Easton Jones
That depends. If you have a job, and still want to play, you probably want to put them together first to ever get any gaming in.
Nicholas Ortiz
Practice and good brushes. You don't need much more.
Carter Morgan
I assemble everything first and then paint.
Austin Allen
And motherfucking Iguana.
In fact, I've played QK since I started Infinity three years ago and the full realisation of QKs TAG options has only just hit me.
Which TAG do people prefer in QK? Has anybody run double TAG?
Xavier Young
Threadly reminder that even Giraldez started as a common brush-dipper.
Zachary Smith
It's times like this I wish my camera wasn't out of batteries, so I could actually compare this to my first mini.
Evan Myers
I play aleph but im switching to CA onyx
Im thinking about running double TAG as a fireteam
David Thomas
After looking at the Haqqislam Fiday mini and seeing Widowmaker I really want to paint up an Overwatch team. What other reasonable facsimiles can I make with Infinity models?
Ryan King
Umbra Samaritan is that guy with the things
Logan Young
I've got a friend who runs the Onyx TAG haris and loves it.
Sogarat with Feuerbach for Winston. Maybe a Tiger Soldier for Pharah. Ninja for Genji (duh). Hardcase and Desparado conversion for McCree. Dragon Lady for Symetra.
Charles Price
It's beautiful!
Julian Green
...
Lucas Murphy
In progress, in fact this is as much as I'm going to do today before I go back to working on my Genestealer Cults
Kevin Garcia
Just wait until Hassassin Ayyar for your Reaper/McCree yaoi fanfic baby.
Jacob Phillips
That looks swell my friend. How did you do the weathered look? After reading Giraldez Vol.2 it seems to give great results by weathering alone, no need for fancy highlights and whatnot.
Ian Fisher
Waiting for Ramah TaskForce and the Invincible Army is painful... Nothing but subpar self limiting vanilla lists for the moment while I'm eyeing up USAriadna just for the fact that they have some cool link teams and great looking models. Shitty Devil Dog weapon swap not withstanding.
Ryan Sanders
Is the Shock Marksman Rifle Ayyar the best HI in the game? Tricksy, objective grabbing, great weapon choices anywhere within 24" and sexy, sexy design.
Jason Powell
Stippling with foam, first a dark brown, then bright silver, followed up by pigments
Owen Reyes
Also thanks!
David Lee
He's up there, but there's De Fernsen. Also a HI specialist, no Holo, but AHD and Martial Arts 3 instead, linkable. Not to mention the trademark PanO BS14 Spitfire. But also a lot more expensive.
I'd have trouble pointing out the "best" HI in the game on stats alone, but I guess Ayyar has the advantage of not being in MO. Also that sweet Sniper Rifle profile.
