>Battlefleet Art Deco?
This.
That's a pretty convincing argument for BFAD!
Battlefleet Brutalism definitely. So sick and tired of space cathedrals.
Battlefleet Post-Brutalist Art Gothic
Personally I prefer Battlefleet Dadaism.
Get the fuck out.
FISH!
>Battlefleet Post-Modernism
Your grasp of Space Combat architecture is crude at best
Battlefleet Neo-Classical
Battlefleet Art Nouveau.
Too bad the AdMech has lost the knowledge on how to make them.
Battlefleet Abstract Expressionism
You're too busy trying to figure out the ships, you forget to attack.
ironically you're not far off, the idea has precedent in real life as "dazzle camouflage"
That's not particularly ironic.
LIKE RAAIIIAINN ON YOUR WEDDING DAY!
War is beautiful, it makes otherwise intelligent men try the dumbest of shit.
ironically it fits with this definition
British vehicles in North Africa were painted pink because it's almost impossible to see a pink vehicle in the desert light.
So keep in mind how hilarious it would have been to see 4 SAS badasses jumping dunes in a land rover painted light pink while shooting up a german air field with a bolted on machine gun, using a strategy that replaced every instance of the words "tactical" and "covert" with "BALLS OUT".
I'd pay 10 bucks to see this on a screen and 60 to play this, and I never pay for shit.
probnably not very hilarious because i'd either be one of the 4 SAS badasses or a german in the shot up air field
>using a strategy that replaced every instance of the words "tactical" and "covert" with "BALLS OUT".
Fun Fact, the SAS Land Rover Brigade were the basis for the Orks mechanized divisions in 40k.
So that's why purple is the sneakiest colour.
Jugendstile forever!
When in doubt default to gothic.
The first Medal of Honor has a mission of you doing that. But the jeep isnt a land rover and it isnt pink.
Battlefleet Classic please.
I've always been partial to Battlefleet Rococo.
Either Battlefleet Neomodern or Battlefleet Liberty.
Battlefleet Futurism for sure.
The best way to exalt the power and glory of the Omnissiah.
I honestly thought you were going to talk about model conversion there OP.
Like making your Imperial fleet have a 1930s Buck Rogers look
Art Deco spaceships look fucking rad.
Salvador Dali presents Battlefleet Surrealism.
Isn't that basically Halo and most other "big grey brick" spaceships
Some of us like those big grey bricks.
Utilitarianism is for primitive races.
No, that's utilitarianism. Brutalism is literally just a concrete block with engines.
>the vogons
There's nothing surreal about that ship. It's actually a fairly mundane fuselage-and-nacelles configuration with an obnoxious paint job.
That's specifically Raygun Gothic, which is different from Art Deco.
Take a look at War Rocket's range of miniatures for more examples.
To be fair, big grey boxes is a pretty efficient deep-space design.
Jokes aside, I really do hope that if GW makes a new Battlefleet Gothic boardgame that there is a bit more variety in ship designs. While I do love the cathedral look, Imperial ships just feel like bigger versions of the same thing. At least aesthetically.
Basically what I'm saying is that I'd like them to expand on the space combat stuff. Mainly so that there is material to work with and then they could make a Sins of a Solar Empire type of videogame adaptation. Because I've been wanting something like that for fucking ever.
Also, xenos or not, Demiurg have some great ship designs.
Forgot to add the pic.
My favourite!
Would this count as Brutalism?
>makes it harder for the enemy to figure out in what direction the boat is going
>made the brass angry because how people dare to cover our ships in the dazzling stripes
>public apparently liked to watch garishly painted ships
Pretty neat idea.
The first time I saw Art Deco...
The correct response.
Oh now that's just straight up sexy.
>Raygun Gothic
That's my headcanon for the Dark age of technology.
>obnoxious
Pleb detected.
Needs to be more cuboid.
...
There we go.
How would you make concrete in space ?
?
Not concrete-y enough.
>Raygun Gothic
>That's my headcanon for the Dark age of technology.
That... Makes a lot of sense actually.
I was coming up with the rogue trader game where they player investigate a space hulk from the dark age.
I was thinking of described it looking like Star Trek... But if you read the fluff about 30k and before it's described as being just as ridiculously over the top and Baroque as 40k is... Just shiny
That picture actually does seem to take care of most problems associated with intra-solar space travel.
Sure the design and shape aren't ideal but everything in there is about right and the 2038 date doesn't seem too far off from current plans by various space agencies.
...
They tried the same thing with ships, arguing that a pink or lavender ("Mountbatten Pink") ship would be invisible in the early morning
Turned out getting the tint ever so slightly wrong made it stick out like a neon sign
I think there might have also been a couple pink fighter jets in the Gulf War
>Battlefleet Brutalism
Fine, you can repaint it. 6 months duty.
Not brütäl enough
How about this?
>Not bauhaus Battlefleet
Maybe you are not heretic, but you surely are a pleb
I like to think for this picture some bigwig in the military heard that the average color of the universe is beige and thought it would make good spaceship camo.
>curves
>smooth transitions
>slim shape
Not even close.
Imperium's aesthetics would be 100% better if they were based on art deco instead of moronic gothic cathedrals
The galaxy is a big place.
Mountbatten pink was so you couldn't see the (pink) color of the german shells hitting the ship or the water around it.
There are a couple concept art of imperial ships by Jes Goodwin that are very different from today's blocky cathedrals. They were pretty neat.
Man, I wish Sidonia wasn't such shit.
Well, it would be different, but not better.
What about battlefleet romanticism?
Do you know if there's a different place to order these? The shipping price is a bit high for me.
Warhammer 30K: Battlefleet Terra?
What about them?
Or just: Rogue Traders.
Meh, my idea of a 30K version of a specialist game is better.
What would Art Deco Space Marines look like?
Probably like big daddies from bioshock.
More specifically that golden one from Bioshock 2.
>moronic
Are you calling Gothic architecture moronic or its use on spaceships?
My nigga, that game was the tits for what it was.
No, halo has too many greebles to be Brutalist.
That's clearly a culture ship, heretic.
Some imperial ships are curve, but most other ships (Particularly the alliance) are probably the closest you can get to space Brutalism outside of Sidonia.
The same way you make it on earth, mix regolith and water.
en.wikipedia.org
Are you implying the Culture isn't pomo as fuck?
But then it would be easy to sue them for all the properties copied or outright stolen from since it's usually a shameless rip-off with gothic artstyle on top of it.
There's way too much mass in that hull.
Culture GSVs may be 300 kilometres long, but the vast majority of the thing is force fields with relatively little actual mass within the vast bubble.
Oh shit, that's pretty awesome. Well done, user.
Something like this maybe.
That'd be pretty bitching desu.
That's pretty fucking cool.
...
That's fucking radical
Someone had a go at this years and years ago, unfortunately nothing much of that thread survives other than thumbnail images. So you'll have to squint at them, but even in low res you can see the awesomeness.
Man that game looked a lot better in memory.
C'mon now, does that really look like it belongs in the same stylistic category as this?
Battlefleet: Art Deco is a good way to summarize the airship wargame I'm working on
The pauldrons sell it
Yeah they do!
>airship wargame
Go on.
What ships are these?
