>fast forward some years
>things begin to go down the shitter
>WAAAAGH! got worse, planets we neglected fell to the greenskins and began capturing other systems
>got out of control quick
>worn down by attrition, easily lost a hundred marines over the course of the of the past couple months
>Tyranids infesting systems left and right, on top of the Orks.
>one bad Tyranid fight cost us our first casualties. Can't reinforce thanks to the Codex Astartes (Had more than 1000 marines, didn't wanna piss people off more)
>still holding on though
>Every battle we lose some Marines
>A Tac Marine here, an Assault Marine here, and so on.
>other Astartes Chapters want us to go on a Crusade
>can't show up, dealing with Chapter traitors and the WAAAAAGH!
>People hate us now

>Orks have become a wrecking ball
>They conquered so many systems they shits out massive transport fleets on the regular
>Any system not currently under Ork control is hit with fleets within twenty turns
>this is not stopping, it only gets worse.
>In the Grim Darkness of the far future, there are only orks.
>And some 'nids but the tyranids stopped expanding a while ago. They mostly cling to systems they held once, never growing.
>dealing with ork systems without bombardment is time consuming, we lose tons of marines in the process
>anything we keep is usually taken back quickly
>I pull the 10th company out of reserve to train a new generation for the Chapter. The 9th company was lost fighting off Tyranids and we needed to refill our losses. Recruiting is slow, but the experience gained is worth it.
>First Company stays out of the fray, I intend to keep them for desperate times and leave them to defend the homeworld
>The Inquisition inspects us frequently, its usually an Inquisitor named Skubius. He never finds anything wrong with Chapter.
>the Orks grow in number ever day. The horde hungers for blood.

>time passes
>Orks rule the western half of the sector. Imperial fleets are powerless to respond
>800 marines, started with over 1000
>not bad but getting worse
>crusade against a Tyranid-infested system close to our homeworld goes poorly
>Lose tons of scouts and marines clearing the system
>fucking 'nids
>have to buy vehicles to offset the losses, R
>The WAAAAAGH! is growing dangerously close now, it fucked a lot of systems to our north and west.
>not killing the tyranids though, some planets have both on them and still have a human population
>fighting through systems, every gain is temporary as the Orks retake ground. Its impossible to make progress.
>Nobody is left to help, aside from the Adeptus Soroitas.
>They never doubted our purity or called our Chapter's loyalty into question.
>Time to repay the favor. Head to a system where the Sororitas are based
>Deploy the 1st and 10th companies to hold a world with major Ork presence, reinforcing the remaining Sororitas.
>Whittle down the Orks turn by turn
>Send the remaining companies in the Chapter Fleet to purge an Ork world and liberate its residents
>Rampant Ork presence, no time to bombard the world. Too many lives lost already.
>Fighting seems to be going well for the first few turns.
>but then we are unable to damage the mass of Orks, losing men
>lose most of our chapter at the end of the fight. Killed less than half the xenos.
>1140 geneseed lost, anyone deployed to the planet's surface is butchered by the xenos.
>Chapter is crippled by this loss, we instantly went from "Acceptable numbers" to "Dying numbers" quickly.
>Inspected by Inquisitor Isiah finishes while this is happening
>Pull the bulk of the Chapter from the system we were fighting in, bring the wounded home to recouperate.
>I apologize to the Sororitas, we helped them as much as we could.
>Orks are moving in quick at this point, taking new stuff on TOP of what we cleansed

>While stuck in the warp, the Lord Inquisitor tells me that my chapter is heretical and committed crimes against the emperor.
>thefuck.vox
>we just got back from a fucking crusade against the orks
>I'm the most stalwart bulwark against invading alien scum
>he demands we go on a penitence crusade while we have practically no marines left
>I think this is bullshit. I tell him I answer only to the Emperor and not the likes of him.
>Fucker says he intends to exterminatus our home planet.
>Like hell he will.
>Sector Commander orders his fleets to destroy us, stating it is in an effort to direct suspicion away from himself.
>The Sororitas take the bait hook line and sinker, declare us heretics. The betrayal cuts deep.
>Return our forces home, garrision the homeworld, fight back the few Sisters of Battle on the planet and any rogue elements of the PDF.
>Morale is at an all time low, we are officially renegades and threats to the Imperium.
>I host a grand feast, sparing no expense, to brighten spirits. Brothers feel too betrayed to take part.
>The Emperor has forsaken us, and we have failed in our duty as Space Marines.
>To make matters worse, the remnants of the Imperial Navy in the sector is heading straight for our homeworld.
>The chapter fleet flees in desperation, we pray they intend to invade and finish us.
>Months pass, the fleet arrives and bombs us from orbit.
>Hundreds of millions on our Hive World die every month. Every day we pray for the Emperor to forgive us and absolve us of our sins, many brothers allow themselves to perish in the bombing.
>Meanwhile the Chapter Fleet takes on the first of many Imperial Fleets, destroying one before making for the Seraph System.
>I am a failure as a Chapter Master. I have succumbed to the temptations of chaos unknowingly and tainted the chapter. I, and I alone, doomed the sector to fall at the hands of the barbaric ork menace.

>If we are not rightfully slain by the Emperor's servants in the skies above, we will corrupt the sector as well.
>The bombardment stops.
>our Chapter Fleet has returned, destroying the Imperial ships in the skies above. For a week it feels as though there is peace in the system.
>much of our fleet is lost in the endeavor, one cruiser remains: Gate Light, the ship used by the 1st Company on Crusade.
>We cannot spread our corrupting influence further.
>We load as many Astartes as we can onto the cruiser, a valient few remain in the Monestary on Seraph II. The Cruiser takes to the warp, fleeing the Cassiopeiae system.
>Emperor Forgive Us All.

>Years later
>Hiding on a remote Feudal World in the Eastern Fringes
>The world's populace rarely see us, but many are accutely aware of our existence.
>Repenting in a field.
>The heretical splinter element of our chapter appears, they have been falling us since we fled Seraph II.
>we're still loyal at heart, we open fire on the traitors.
>Beat them back in a short fight, one surrenders willingly.
>He says he felt guilty about what happened to our chapter, he says he has regrets, he demands us to give him the Emperor's mercy.
>I recognize him, he was a Tactical Marine in the second company named Pyotr. He was wounded while his company was destroyed by the orks.
>The traitor tells us that we didn't do anything. We are shocked.
>He says he was convinced to join the heretic splinter by one of the Chapter's Librarium, shortly before the battle against the Tyranids.
>this agent told him to send specific instructions a contact allied with the traitors.
>The contact was Inquisitor Isiah.

Why did this game have to die, Veeky Forums?

Because GW wanted it dead

>Why did this game have to die, Veeky Forums?
Because many gamers aren't ok with it unless its 40k, the game idea was born as some sort of a "SCIFI DF thing", but then people complained about every idea that was not specifically 40k.

So, you cant do 40k because you will sued and you can't do something else because people will compain for it not being 40k since it was never the point

>40k dwarf fortress
the 40k mod literally exist

Because we can't have nice things

Finish the darn story, OP!

What is cliffhanger

Where could the story go from here? The Chapter was declared a renegade by the Imperium, just because they know now the Inquisitor was a traitor doesn't mean that anyone is gonna believe them.

I think the ending is fitting.

I love these Chapter Master stories, them and the FFG books made me start putting together some stuff for a fun little concept piece that I've been working on the past month or so. Basically I wanted to fiddle with the idea of how a new chapter is created and my question was 'what's the most fucked combo I can still make work'

>what's the most fucked combo
Lamen-
>I can still make work
Oh. Probably all the mutations ever and poor diplomatic relations. Having a smaller chapter size kind of screws you over faster than anything else, so that'd still be a no-go.

>whats the most fucked combo I can still make work

can't tease us like that without some details my dude

fan ending for those who want it

>chapter master and dudes head back to the Cassiopeiae sector
>mostly overrun by Orks and Tyranids
>Fortress Monastary nuked to shit then taken over by the 'nids
>battle the greenskins and Tyranids, along with remaining imperial forces
>find Inquisitor Skubius
>explain what happened, the traitor confesses
>Inquisitor Isiah is executed for heresy
>Chapter is no longer renegade, slowly recover numbers
>things are going well again

Sorry got sidetracked... Well, so after some digging I reasoned it looked like a lot of chapter contribute stuff to basically a big pot of supplies, people and geneseed for new chapters. And I reckoned that there were leftovers... so I made the 'kitchen sink' chapter.

They had roughly a company, plus some support stuff, on a strike cruiser. A dark angels chaplain, a blood angel librarian and a raven guard librarian, and to go with those, some red templar and imperial fist assault marines. Of course, that wasn't enough so I threw in white scars... except as a heavy-bike squad, so four of the sidecar guys and only two normal bikers. The other bikers were from a blood angel successor called the Red Wings. Essentially I kept picking the least fitting options from a bunch of successor chapters- a squad form this one, an HQ choice from there, some jump pack tactical marines from the Hawk Lords, and capped it all off with a chapter master who used to be the Reserve Battle Company captain in the Genesis marines. And then, for fun, I put a crashed necron escort ship buried on their homeworld, reasoning that it was enough to fuck them up hard, but not as insurmountable as, for instance, a tomb.

Oh right, and they had I think two rhinos and one razorback. Might have been three rhinos, can't recall. but they specifically used hteir thunderhawks to get down to the combat zone because they don't have enough drop pods to risk going through AA fire, and they don't have enough marines to risk them getting cut off. It was kind of fun just looking through bolter and chainsword to find half the successors I wanted to use.

>They had roughly a company
