MTG Aether Revolt Spoilers thread

The five-day spoiler season is upon us once again, so let's discuss the latest garbage Wizards expects us to buy

Starting up is an artifact tutor

White gets some more quality sideboard cards

Revolt, by the way, seems like your typical mechanic that will matter in limited and sometimes in constructed but it's nothing you build your deck around

Draft bullshit right here

Green gets a card advantage machine

This card gives me the impression I'll have to think twice about blocking to what appears to favourably trade because if the effects are like this it's going to feel like a blowout

its pretty good at instant speed, compared to shitty black improvise sorcery

Dat flavor text
>This artifact dies to removal

Wizards didn't commit the same mistake twice and are actually using the popular mechanic from the first set in the second one

Well, it's a complete reference to Chord of Calling.

Usefulness of common and uncommon improvise cards will mostly depend on whether there are enough enablers to play them -just- on the curve

This guy for example will not, but turn 2 servo exhibition into a turn 3 5-CMC creature will be a beater

I am talking about limited of course

This guy, for example, is not worth it

Also, hey, another assembly-worker!

That fucking Crew cost

It plays well with that Chinese spoiled rare, though

Literal trash in standard.

This is the card in question in case you've not seen it yet

Peacekeeper Colossus, 3
Artifact - Vehicle (Rare)
1W: Another target Vehicle you control becomes an artifact creature until end of turn.
Crew 4
6/6
"Keeping peace? Its sole purpose is to keep people in fear."
--- Saheeli Rai

it can be used for improvise tap if you summon it on t1.

>crew 6
not today lupine prototype

>not a golem vehicle
Maro autism.

>The development team was looking for a mechanic that rewarded you for having a lot of artifacts. Between the extra artifacts and all the artifact creature tokens, Kaladesh block created an environment where caring about how many artifacts you had would shine. Affinity for artifacts seemed to be a perfect fit. Yes, there would need to be some care with how to balance the cards, but Ben Hayes (Aether Revolt's lead developer) and his development team felt they were up to the task.

>At one point during development of this set, Magic development team unironically considered printing affinity

Well then

So apparently Expertise is a cycle?

Anyone wants in to predict the red, blue and green ones?

>Block theme is India
>7/11

Good work Wizards

The storm scale seems to hold precisely 0 weight.
I wouldn't actually be surprised if they ended up printing storm or dredge again and being surprised when everyone complained.

>this
>equal black effect is etb +1/+1 counter

WHAT THE FUCK MARO
THE MAGIC THE GREENING IS NOT A JOKE ANYMORE

Black gets a rare with Revolt: Destroy target creature

In my days that would be an uncommon

Oh boy, I wonder what I'm going to see a ton of during prerelease. It's like that damn train all over again.

Oh look, synergy.

Standard Enchantress ?
One more card for Legacy/Modern Enchantress ?

this is going to become a banned commander real quick

He still does fuck all. He produces 1 consumable mana dork a turn, kills or shittily buffs a creature, depending on how well you're already doing (useless if you're already behind because you wasted turn 4), or slowly turns your artifacts into creatures. The starter deck version that was designed soley to be shit gives better artifact synergy.

I fucking hope not. White needs all the card draw it can get.
Plus, this makes Dwarf Mechanic Waifu even more viable.

HEY GUYS I HEARD YOU LIKE AETHERWORKS MARVEL DECKS SO I GAVE THOSE DECKS ANOTHER CARD TO FUCK YOU UP WITH

>Sram is a polish verb for "I'm shitting [right now]"
>In the poo in the loo set
Well, it's a good time to make R/W EDH "The Wolf of Shitting Street" deck

That's fucking gorgeous flavor text though.

>And what happened, then? Well, in the secondary market they say
>that Panharmonicon's price grew three sizes that day.

Improvise reads like its addressed to five-year-olds with autism. Market research?

Gearseeker serpent has straight up affinity, iirc.

You can't combo these can you?

It's 3 years old already with the new convoke tips, get on with time.

If you mean searching a 0 cost artifact, yeah you can.

>without paying its mana cost
X would be 0, so yes in that case. You can't put more into X when it is cast without paying its mana cost. Even then, that would make the CMC more than 3 anyways.

Good job, you can now search your library for an artifact card with converted mana cost 0 or less, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library.

God do I want this to be good. But 6 mana to get only the opportunity for an extra turn?
Not quite that great. Not so sure standard will even use it, but might end up a fringe deck?

>what is affinity metalwork colossus deck

>Not so sure standard will even use it, but might end up a fringe deck?
I don't think Aetherwork Marvel is a fringe deck

>1 mana 7/11

what the fuck is this shit!?

>zero mana
>any of the moxen
>any of the artifact lands
>or that fancy expedition ornithopter

Part the Waterveil got used in fringe decks, and it's 6 cmc. Obviously the option to use awaken is really nice though. They're just printing it as an obligatory "Here's the extra turn spell post-rotation in standard".

...

I'm pretty sure there is better cards/combo in non-Standard formats to search those cards

>implying its hard to get total power of 6
>implying since its one cmc you MUST play it t1
>must be bad

Crew it with 2 veteran motorists and built to smash and you win the game man

Of course there is, I was mainly kidding too.

This card is going to be $50.

Why? Well, if you can get infinite artifact etbs, which is not very difficult, you get both infinite turns and infinite energy. This card should read "Pair me with aetherwork marvel and play your whole deck for free."

It exiles itself upon using the ability user

... fuck you're right. That's disappointing, I was about to order a playset.

This is a $5 card tops. People will bitch about it in standard, absolutely no one will play it in constructed.

REMOVAL IS BACK ON THE MENU BOYS

>Sort of a half an abrupt decay for half the cost.

Yeah, sure, I'm on board with that.

RIP thermo alchemist deck

it's more a smother, but yeah

...

This will be good to destroy that busted dreadnought vehicle. At the same rarity too.

>forgetting it also gives you energy
Aethorworks will play 4 of this

Not at 6 mana

Fetches make it easy to achieve revolt

This could be modern playable

It definitely seems sideboard playable. 4cmc hits most things in the format.

Think this guy will find a home, Veeky Forums?

If by "home" you mean "every deck playing black in standard" then yes

I see it as more of a toy for casual artifact shenanigans.

I still maintain affinity for X is a perfectly acceptable mechanic, just don't be a retard and make the object have affinity for it's own type

Holy FUCK did WotC reveal their power levels or something? This is beyond fuckin insane

Black's answer to tarmogoyf has finally been discovered

>thiskillsthegoyf

I was about to make that post user.

This card feels a little bit pushed

It's a damn good answer to Copter and Heart of Kiran

if we're just gonna act like retards and say "but it tutors cards only legal in vintage" why aren't you saving yourself 2 mana by playing Tinker/Reshape you chode?

>Cheap efficient removal
>At uncommon

Ok, who left the time machine on?

That was a good one user

Hell, 2 cmc hits most creatures in the format. I'm ordering 8, this card is the tits.

>In your lifetime people will start saying "dies to push" instead of "dies to bolt"

>You can't play a creature with a CMC of less than 5 ! It dies to push !

>you will love to see the rose of BRx control decks.

Whose excited to play magic again thanks to a one drop uncommon?

Bigger thread

>unfindable in the archive

See this is why you put the string "mtg" somewhere

It has the exact same number of posts and images as this thread, but with fewer IPs.

Also fewer posts, as of this one.

Well this shits all over my deck.

Guess it's back to the drawing board...

So exactly what was wrong with the old wording?

You probably have more creatures than 4 Fatal Push in your deck :^)

google time seive, then stop jizzing yourself.

MODERN IS SAVED

This on top of a ban or two will seriously shift the meta

...

SUNDERING TITAN
MY NIGGA

I was obviously joking, don't take it so hard.

Finally a less redundant wording for Sundering Titan.

>mfw

Why? It's a strictly worse (but still very useful) version of cards that already exist. Or are you from one of those "Reliquary Tower is Banned" metas?

Red will be 3 damage to target creature or player or destroy target artifact or land because Wizards is boring with red

Green will be three +1/+1 counters

Blue will be counter target spell with CMC 3 or less or maybe Scry 3, draw a card.

This + Aetherworks Marvel could possibly find its way into Breya and Daretti decks.

>turn 1 attune with aether
>turn 2 3/4 for G

BALANCED
A
L
A
N
C
E
D

it'd be turn 3 you could do it, fucktard

Attune gives 2 energy on turn one. Are you well?

...

Seems like exactly what Green would do. But it does have to contend with Fatal Push, so...

Wow so good literally one colour has an answer to this motherfucker

he didn't fly so good
