Jumpers! Have you ever used Return?

Yes, either to spend more time with friends i've made that i haven't companioned for some reason or because i needed more time to loot the place to the bedrock.
Or just because i want to wait for some drawback to go away before i do something.

It's not like i'm in a hurry, i don't have anyone i want to companion that would need a pod and most of the other warehouse options can be replicated with a few tech perks.
So i generally take Return.

so how did you find jumpchain?

I was in cyoa gen when quicksilver made pokemon.

I was there when QS was in PACYOA making Pokemon Jump. Then it wasn't until later that I realized that it became its own thing. I've been here since then.

I had been lurking Veeky Forums for about two years and kept seeing Jumpchain show up on the index. Popped in once, didn't understand it, gave up and went elsewhere.

I then tried again during a long dry spell in games, and I have deeply regretting my decision ever since.

Ayup, same as these dudes.

Jump #236: Rome
>The High Priestess, reversed: The forces of nature unleashed.
>Age: 30
>Location: Greece
>Identity: Roman Patrician
>Drawbacks: Et Tu, Comes? (+600)
I'm bringing along all my companions and aiming to make the Roman empire a better place. It's 50 BC and I'm introducing steam engines. I'd be surprised if everyone WASN'T trying to shank me.
>Soles of the Empire (Free, Roman)
Walking is the most tedious thing, but I suppose if I'm running around the Roman empire at the speed of sound, people will get suspicious.
>Empires and Legacies (1400, Roman)
I'm working toward the good of the Empire, to make it last rather than forcing it to rest on the back of slaves for the next five hundred years, until it falls apart. I think that's worth something.
>Trading Up (1000)
If I am to make things of value, I will have to ensure they're made right. When people realize the potential impact of what I'm doing... this is going to be a brand worth something.
On a related note, it's going to take a LOT of work (or a really awesome marketing campaign) to make this matter in most jumps unless you piggyback on something - ten years is not long to build a brand at all.
I'll have to see if there are any jumps that I can buy a company in that I can take with me and make them exist retroactively in future jumps.
>Affluenza (Free, Patrician)
As much as I'd love to not rely on this... there'll be times where I just run out of fucks to give. This helps cover for that.
>We Understand Each Other (900, Patrician)
Oh good, now I can confuse everyone watching at home until the end of the season where it all is thrown into a COMPLETELY different context!
>Good of the Family (700, Patrician)
I'm not really sure that I'll be needing to remind people of the (rather extended) family that we're all basically a part of, but this is a good 'get your head on straight' perk if my companions do get too wrapped up in silliness.

>Darling of Divinity (200)
Oh, fancy. Now I'm a little luckier, my legacy will be remembered, and I radiate authority. Then again, if my legacy ends up being what I'm aiming for...
>Family (0)
As I said, my companions are a family, of sorts. It's just a little more literal than it used to be.

There was once a dream that was Rome.

The reality is thus: Rome is an empire built on the backs of slaves, indulgent in excess and uncaring of bodies in its wake, ignorant to most progress, reliant on patrons to get anything done.

This will change, because western civilization needs to step up its march.

Ten years is not a very long time, especially when it means I have to get involved in Roman politics, but if I get in with Gaius Julius Caesar, I can get these changes pushed quite quickly. And I have the abilities to do precisely that, as well as to basically amp up the creativity of anyone who follows me (i.e. anyone who starts using steam based machinery).

Sure, to start, they'll be little more than curiosities. That's why, along with the steam powered machines, there'll be sudden breakthroughs in metallurgy and other fields. Romans love their hot baths? Well, now they can have a hot bath all day long. Here, this is how you plant a grove of a certain kind of tree, cut it down five years later, turn it all into charcoal and do particularly well. In fact I've left behind pages and pages of potential advancements that will serve the Roman empire over the centuries to come. Like these septic systems, this sewer system, water supplies and pumps and why the pipes should be ceramic or copper and not lead, even a form of refrigeration... and so on.

And with the changes made here, I intend to slowly make slavery unnecessary. To increase the wealth of the empire overall and give it a proper middle class. In time, to ensure that the luxuries that the higher classes have can become commonplace and widely enjoyed.

There is a dream that is Rome.

It shall be realized.

Lurked for ages until I decided to try and make the Worm jump. Stayed since there were several folks who were also in MR and I enjoyed hanging with them again.

Sins of the past.

CYOA gen when Pokemon and Infamous were made. They were nifty. And then other people started making jumpchain documents. And then we got our own thread.

Two and a half years later, here we are.

Yes. Back to Pokemon as soon as I had left it.

I'd like to say that I had some master plan to set myself up to control the world or even that I wanted to take as many Pokemon out into the multiverse as possible, but truthfully I just couldn't bear being away from my wife and our close friends. I'd already done it once before and I didn't think I could do it again so I put it off while also picking up a Pod or three.

I saw some jumps posted in random places, the idea of interconnected CYOAs seemed interesting so I tried to find out where they came from.

Didn't actually find the thread while I was looking for it, I saw it while lurking in a 40K thread quite a while after giving up.

So what "roles" or specialty do each of your Companions occupy, Jumpers?

Assuming they have one besides waifu/husbando.

Literally wandered onto Veeky Forums in search of a Warhammer thread to ask a question, clicked on the wrong thread, and never left.

Jumpers, what are your house rules?

four walls and a ruff

Drawback limits are for communists!

Funny thing, actually. I came across cyoas my freshman year, and became obsessed with the Power Armor CYOA. Then i found some jumps in the form of archived PDFs (back when fucking everyone didn't know about jumpchain)

Eventually i found myself at /jc/ thanks to /cyoagen/. Got here around thread 262 or so
I revamped+imaged the SALT jump and remade most of the small horses jump

>the small horses jump
You fool!

I sometimes bend particular rules to make what I think is a more interesting narrative. See [Demon on Wheels] Perks also aren't infallible and have a failure rate depending on how impossible something would be 'normally', mostly in terms of charisma or how anti-climactic the success would be.

Jump #237: Total War
>The Lovers: A decision calling for emotional control and faithfulness to spiritual values.
>Age: 18
>Location: Rome, 270 BC
>Identity: Faction Heir (-500)
>Drawbacks: Where Do All Of These Asssassins Keep Coming From? (0)
Mandatory drawback from being faction heir. Tsk.
>Army Without A Home (400)
Never hurts to ensure my armies can get more mileage out of their supplies.
>Reform, You Spineless Dogs! (Free, Faction Heir)
At least I can keep my armies from fleeing if it turns out badly. Which makes their battles bloodier, but much more effective against an enemy.
>Run Them Down! (Free, Faction Heir)
And when the enemy runs, we're much more effective in pursuing them as well.
>Nothing To See Here (0)
Doesn't hurt to be able to be ignored when I want to be.
>To Me, Brothers! (Free, Faction Heir)
And the troops keep getting scarier.

I mean, a solid army is exactly what is needed to get things to where they need to be.

But perhaps you weren't listening earlier.

There is a dream that is Rome.

I will drag it into reality, kicking and screaming if I must.

I Googled CYOA's and eventually ran into Jumpchain.

I was a long time CYOA Gen lurker. I had been around and played the bigger releases: Magical Realm, Conduit, PACYOA, Stardust, and I knew QS from his builds.

So he started making a Pokemon CYOA and while I wasn't a big fan of Pokemon I was curious to see what he'd do with it. So when proto-jumpchain got kicked out of general I followed it over and I've been here since.

I actually try to make sure all of my Companions have a role in the group. It helps people feel important when they have something they can do better than you can. It's an essential part of team building and good for group dynamics.

Raven (Teen Titans): Second in Command and Magical Powerhouse. Seriously, as much as I know about magic, Raven blows me out of the water every single time.

Wakana (Imawabi No Dakini): Magical Blender. In terms of raw firepower she is second only to me, especially after Forgotten Realms. She may not act like it most of the time but when she dander is up she can blow away small mountains or shred entire platoons of enemies.

Yamato (Imawabi No Dakini): Necromancer. Not something I ever expected to have one of my Companions specialize in, but after Shaman King he really took to the art. He's happiest on a battlefield where he can really stretch his talents to their limits.

Major Lina (Ring of Red): Rear Line Strategist. The planner of our group. Takes my half-baked ideas and takes care of all the little details I tend to forget when I run off all half-cocked. She's also insanely handy with a rifle and will happily demonstrate this given half a chance.

Okuda (Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon): Berserker. Considering she started out as a Support from her own universe, I find it hilarious that she turned out to be our front line specialist. She takes basically every strength and melee perk she can find and will gladly charge opponents ten times her size with just a sword in hand.

Rip Van Winkle (Hellsing): Ranged Support. I mean, naturally. Just try to keep her from this role. I did give her antique rifle some major upgrades though.

I tend to bend the rules when the story demands it, but I try to keep the spirit of the adventure in mind every time I do. I also tend to use the "If you can convince them, they can become Companions" house rule when a Jump doesn't have a way to buy the character that I want

I found Pokemon/Infamous/Warehouse on the SB thread, downloaded it, was unimpressed, and left it on my HD for a year.

Later, I stopped at an out-of-the-way motel with shitty wifi on a roadtrip, and I was bored so I read it again. I remembered there was an entire gdrive of this stuff, leeched off of it for awhile after I got back, and eventually remembered that this thread kept popping up when I was lurking Veeky Forums.

Was looking for more CYOAs and found one of the threads and I enjoyed Jumps more.

I use the companion housing expansion, like it better than throwing people in cryo tubes. Paired with Nomanis Island from The Incredibles my Warehouse is now a tropical resort.

Does get confusing for new companions when they meet the same person from multiple settings.

>"Meet Zatanna, Zatanna, Zatanna, Zatanna, and Lil' Zatanna."

I saw mention of the Kantai Collection jump while browsing /tg one day and jumped in feet-first.

>Lil' Zatanna
You uh, you get busy with one of the Zatannas?

Saya: Waifu, enabling my horrible choices, probably the healer via alchemy, steals things, Rogue of Space.
Taylor: Runs Large Scale Businesses &∨ Territory, fairly offensively focused, delivers Saya's Poisons, Page of Heart.
Hale: Operates my Media Companies, controls all the ships and drones, gathers information, Mage of Light.
John: Runs Smaller Scale Companies, has a lot of "Fuck you and the planet you're on" scale attacks, is decent at Science, Heir of Breath.
Nothing comes to mind, other than this

I'm guessing a Mini Me from Austin Powers.

Maybe he looked up when he could find the loliest Zatanna and podded her? For maximum body image issues and all.

Bulling Titlet Zatanna? I'm in.

I just found Jumpchain while looking up CYOAs online, and then found out there was /jc/ on Veeky Forums by complete accident. So I was actually looking at the drive and 'jumping' months before I knew this place even existed.

Teenager Zatanna from Young Justice, spent most of the jump hanging out with her mostly because everyone bored me, Robin was just annoying.

I call here Lil' Zatanna because she's the youngest one in the bunch, not because she's a midget or loli....weirdos.

What's the hardest jump for you to actually decide what you want?

youtube.com/watch?v=DN9DW4rrEjY

"Knowing identity of all bad guys prior to jump"

wait do you want to burn coal? wouldn't that create global warning 2000 years early?

You need a Time player if your Sburb session is going to be viable. Were you the one who had to deal with all the time bullshit?

Replying to something at least 3 threads ago because fuck the police.

I'm considering starting a chain where I buy 8 of these from the start when B:TAS comes out.

I'm sure Harley Quinn will have lots to say about you and your Cats girls.

Especially if you let on about why you have so many stalkers.

you a crazy mofo

I don't even need pre-knowledge for this most of the time. FOR FUCK'S SAKE THEY'RE SO OBVIOUSLY EVIL YOU BLOODY GITS.

Jumper, how could you say such awful things about Lord Evils Von Murdersburg, Slayer of Orphans?

But you can't accuse Lysdaneroth of being evil just because he openly espouses killing everyone he thinks isn't pulling their weight, MC-KUN. Maybe he's just misunderstood? /s

Kamen Rider, Neo-Heisei era Jumps. Everything is so desirable I always have a hell of a time choosing.

Warframe is another one that's full of vampires. VAMPIRES I TELL YOU!

How many bad guys are orphans to begin with?

In the Worm notes, it says powers become part of you instead of shards post jump. Does this only apply to bought powers, or powers acquired another way?

EX: If you can finagle an active gemma connected to an active shard, not purchased, does it convert?

There are no vampires in Warframe.

There are vampiric mods, but no vampires.

Every anime villain not royalty, a noble, or a cosmic horror.

>Especially if you let on about why you have so many stalkers.

"I bought them with an abstract omniversal currency in a convoluted and nonsensical deal I made with an ineffable entity. For fun."

What's really neat is that they each get a theme associated with you so it'd be a case of figuring out 8 themes. Probably a magpie one, a cat one, one that thinks they're a vampire, a sock puppet themed one, a darkness themed one, a fire themed one, etc.

Then I can drive around being a jerk with a fan club.

How many of those are self-induced?

>a sock puppet themed one
That's kinda terrifying.

Can my Wraith personality be something like my background from LotR?

MGR. So much cool cyborg sword shit. And a robot that goes moo.

In recent memory, I'm still trying to figure out my build for Endless Frontier.

Overlord (The Series). I've fiddled with that thing a bunch of different ways, and even when I give absurd amounts of points I still want more. There's just a ton available in that jump.

Well, whatever it is it'll still be breast jokes. And whatever other "charm points" the characters have.

Like Suzuka's hips.

Well it says they don't have any powers or training but it doesn't say they don't have a load of sock puppets and enchanting sock puppets has always been a cornerstone of any of my runs.

Technically it's a different continuity so no. Could be an expy of your LotR background though.

Seconded. After hard sacrifices i've pared it down to the point where i'm only 500cp short of getting everything i really want, even with max drawbacks.

Stupid jump with too much stupid cool stuff...

Hell, just deciding on species is a process.

Charcoal. Plants use carbon to grow. You burn the trees and the carbon is released. It's neutral to the environment, and there are plenty of notes left behind a la da Vinci that can be studied and applied to future use. Passive solar is a big thing in my designs.

>sock puppet theme
Fuckin creepy, man.

Sock puppets are funny, user.

I thought that was pretty clear from my constant obsession with Time, Time Travel, and associated perks. I was Witch of Time, because fuck the Time Police.

Overlord or Infernals.

Bayonetta's kind of a bitch to pick for, too.

That only works if you grow enough new plants to cover the carbon you release by burning trees.
Which is generally not something early industrialization societies pay attention to.
Otherwise you'll still have more carbon released and less forests to convert it to oxygen, so you'll still get a higher carbon content in the atmosphere.

>pic related
This is funny.

That shit you're posting is an evil soulless abomination.

This is why I specifically said a certain kind of tree. Which doesn't exist naturally, but does when I create it with jumper powers (tm). It doesn't do much but grow quickly. No normal tree is ready for a harvest like that in the space of five years.

Did you ever have a potential companion turn down your offer to explore the multiverse? Why?

Do you keep any secrets from your companions, or regret not keeping some?

>Did you ever have a potential companion turn down your offer to explore the multiverse? Why?
Imagine the balls it take to do that to the average Jumper.

>YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME, DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY CPs I HAVE SACRIFICED FOR YOU?

Can Fiend Caste Infernals learn a Demon's personal Charms?

Is there any perk that could substitute for "Great Warden" from the City of Heroes jump? I wanna apply my perks to my sword, but really don't wanna spend so many CP for some shitty elemental perks when there's so much other good stuff in the jump.

holy empowerment from Helsing+power combinations from young justice

Yes. Demons count as spirits, Eclipsoids can learn spirit charms. They probably can't learn the super-unique charms of Third Circle Demons, though, panoply charms tend to only allow one user.

Ah, okay. Thanks.

One more question. Could a Slayer give themself the Fiend's ability to learn other Charms when they went Devil Tiger and redesigned their Anima?

Could you explain how that would help me? Holy Empowerment is just a magical buff for your body.

Theoretically, if their personality suited that.

Summarize your chain in one image.

Just my permanent Companions for this one.

Emmy (Pokemon)--Interpreter, waifu, and primary People Buffer, and the one that calls me out on my bullshit. She generally acts as a foil to me, in addition to having a much better grasp of various healing techniques.
Chartreuse (Negima!)--kuudere hypercompetent but snarky valet/waifu. Enables my various hijinks. Computer, Tech, and Logistics expert.
Hime (ATLA/Generic Magical Girl)--Began as my steed and bounty-hunting partner. She still helps a lot when we're doing some kind of hunting, but she's more of a big deredere puppy as far as behavior.
Chicky (SW: Clone Wars/Kancolle)--Tsundere cavalry that calls me out of my bullshit. Yes, I do need two of these. Weapons and transportation expert.
E (Kancolle)--Mamadere, somewhat domestic, but very protective of all of us. Has become the healing and secondary magic expert.
Rae (Kancolle)--Dandere sneaky girly girl. Always hiding behind someone or something, she's our Rogue and generally a tiny little moeblob.

The Boys (SW: Clone Wars)--Comic relief and ego inflation, secondary to being grunts.

On Rollables, I roll first and if I can't take it then I'll buy the one I want instead of taking the roll.

None of them have turned me down to go explore, but Chisame and Krystal have both taken breaks.

As for secrets, I'm generally pretty open to my Companions. Usually it's not that I deliberately hide things so much that I just forget to tell them.

To answer the first, yes, though with the number of team work and befriending perks I usually snatch up the number is smaller than you'd think. Most of the time it has more to do with their current situation than it does not believing me. There's only so many potential explanations for why your friend can turn into a Lava Dragon before a person has to start consider the whole extra-dimensional being story.

>Secrets
I'm more convinced than ever that the OC Companions my Coordinator created for me are all but engineered to prod me into continuing to Jump. There's no way Lina should have simply accepted Rip Van Winkle onto the team considering her hatred of Nazis. My recruitment of RVW was a test to see if Lina would insist on getting rid of her. Instead she made an exception relatively quickly and didn't even try to rig a toilet up with C4 even once. Raven is the only one I've mentioned this concern to and she thinks it makes a scary amount of sense. Send help.

>Shockingly accurate.

Luna Lovegood.

Luna saw through me the moment she met me, though she was friendly about it. And I did what I could to make sure there wasn't any bullying taking place - that is, the few times there WAS bullying, the girls responsible suddenly faced the same treatment in their nightmares, and Luna would always get her things back in the morning no matter where they'd been hidden. There were a couple of idiots that didn't stop after they had nightmares and found their thievery undone, and I systematically exposed their pattern of behavior (Luna was not the only victim). Cho Chang was eventually kicked off the Quidditch team, Marietta Edgecomb took her lumps and actually became a better person for it.

Honestly, I just did my best to be a friend to her. We ended up getting romantically involved in my fourth year, and she would simply NOT stop making jokes about me robbing the cradle (which, of course, only she got - and Trelawney, who knows how THAT fraud picked up on it). She was extremely irate at me for not stepping in to deal with Voldemort, before I explained everything about the horcruxes to her. She was still angry about that for a long while, which is why I took the action that I did at the end of the next year (magical purification blast to try and render his horcruxes pointless, which worked until I came back and his horcruxes started possessing people).

>Cho Chang
Cho bullied Luna??

When the time came, she declined to come with me in a pod because she felt she would be out of place - no matter that I was literally going to show her other worlds, other creatures, other magic... she just wanted to stay in her world, since it was big enough for her to explore. She'd started having an affair with a Hermoine that was dissatisfied at home and didn't want to leave her behind, and Hermoine declined because of her kids. They did rope me into a threesome, but that's neither here nor there.

When I went back for the Parenthood jump she happily acted as a surrogate mother to the kids, and was surprised I hadn't changed much, especially when I told her how long it'd been. But once again, she and Hermoine declined to go with me (though Hermoine insists I come back post-spark to tell her more of what I'd learned). When I asked Luna whether she'd come with me post-spark to see my home, she gave me a smile and a 'maybe'.

Ah well. I guess you win some and you lose some, but that particularly stung.

Never explicitly stated in canon, but happens a lot in various folks' headcanons.

Pretty sure that's fanon.

So no.
It's Hermione.
