Biodrone Edition. It's been a few months since Howling Shadows came out, and slightly less than a few months since people came up with all the rules that CGL didn't include because they are assholes. What cool cybercritters have you seen in your games? What have you had to outwit/outplay/outlast? Have you spend obscene amounts on a pet genetically designed for optimum cuddles?
Joseph Morgan
Bunny bomb.
It was literally just a rabbit with a Cortex bomb that blows up like a frag grenade when hugged.
I mean... it worked, but...
Austin Stewart
How large are pixies? Action figure sized? Handle of Vodka sized? Tinkerbell sized? They need to be big enough to fuck, I'm sure, but could I hide one in a water bottle?
Grayson Morris
...
Cameron Perez
>Have you spend obscene amounts on a pet genetically designed for optimum cuddles? Can't say I have, I've put too much money into the car. On the other hand, the car actually gets me laid.
Camden Wood
IIRC, 2-3 feet tall.
Ian Turner
I hope you're not targeting children with that.
Gabriel Morris
>he doesn't own a dog
A 10/10 doggo is a chick magnet that will hunt out bitches and bring them from across the park and down the street.
Joshua Howard
No, well, not yet. Maybe eventually. It was actually meant for hookers. Long story short, the barrens have kinda become Old Town from Sin City.
Lincoln Miller
Wait. You mean hooker hug rabbits all the time in the barrens?
Camden Barnes
30-45cm tall.
Jack Turner
All the time? No.
But the Boss Ass Bitch of the Barrens has an affinity for them, and it was a bit of a shitty assassination attempt.
My group was actually responsible for finding the wise guy responsible for making this happen, and bring it to her alive.
She shot him in the crotch until he died.
Jeremiah Garcia
Hey Veeky Forums is there any blanket ways to reduce drain, besides increasing my drain stats?
Daniel Long
>She shot him in the crotch until he died. Inefficient, but I suspect that was deliberate.
Owen Roberts
Oh, of course it was. she was mad he fucked up a rabbit.
Asher Taylor
You say that like she wasn't even that upset about the assassination itself.
Cameron Allen
lol, she wasn't. At least, not by comparison. people try to kill her all the time.
Eli Parker
Drugs, which increase your drain stats. Also the Centering Metamagic.
Jonathan Powell
Alright, that's fair.
Xavier Carter
Would it make sense for a guy who has a serious beef against spirits to have a mentor spirit?
Jason Miller
Define "serious beef"
Gavin Lewis
I'm working on building a Banish focused NPC. Like, probably rolling 20+ dice, depending on if I make him standard, or give him stuff beyond what a standard CC character would have.
If he sees a spirit, it is his first target. If someone has bound spirits and they're communicating with him, he'll demand that the spirits be sent away. he always maintains a high-force Spirit Zapper spell around his home.
Hunter Ortiz
Mentor Spirits might not be spirits, Mentor Spirit is just the blanket term thats used for that sort of relationship. If your Exorcist is a Christian, his 'mentor spirit' could be any number of Angels or Saints.

>Running an extraction run for a corpkid who got herself abducted by some Ancients >Firefight breaks out in a warehouse when the team fails to sneak in and then fails harder to negotiate/intimidate for the girl. >Glitch sees the girl catch a bullet >Wound was just a scratch but she panics and activates her DocWagon bracelet >Fight continues, Mage gets shanked good by a drugged up Ancient >Mage panics and rips her DocWagon bracelet >Battle with Ancients ends as the gangers eventually flee >We patch up the corpkid as best as we can so she will be presentable to the Johnson we were going to take her back to >Attempt to leave the warehouse >Two DocWagon teams open fire on us, each one assuming we are the threat because we are armed and dress like psychopaths >Mage doesn't want us to shoot back because she can't afford the premiums attached to injured/dead HTR employees.
Brody Powell
Your first mistake was getting a Docwagon contract, omae...
Carson Cooper
>Mage doesn't want us to shoot back because she can't afford the premiums attached to injured/dead HTR employees. Yeah, that was just about the most Shadowrun thing I've heard in a while.
Nathaniel Morgan
Corpkid had the docwagon contract, not any of the runners
Xavier Nelson
Mage did too
Jayden Howard
>>Mage panics and rips her DocWagon bracelet
Sounds like the mage was ripping the corp kid's bracelet. But I'm not that guy so I could be wrong.
Nathaniel Thompson
I thought that at first too, but reread it >Fight continues, Mage gets shanked good by a drugged up Ancient >Mage panics and rips her DocWagon bracelet The Mage The Mage gets fucked up by an Ancient, so she pops her own bracelet to send a separate DocWagon team in.
Jackson Mitchell
Ah, alright, re-reading it, I see it.
Owen Perry
wait. if she had a doc wagon bracelet, why didn't she initiate it when she was captured. how did the gang not see it?
Anthony White
We found out later that she wasn't "kidnapped" by the Ancients and instead was slumming it willingly. Of course, the parents didn't approve of their daughter hanging out with a group of go-gangers, but didn't want to get police involved because they were scandalized by the whole situation. So sure, why not trust a Mr. Johnson to hire a bunch of mercs to convince your shitty daughter to come home.
Brandon Ross
>arrow for previous thread >link to previous thread actually leads to the thread before it you had ONE job
This is the third time this week someone has fucked the OP post up. There ought to be a template for it in the pastebin to avoid this.

Damn you for calling me out on that thing I totally I am!
Also, I'm curious on how many of you are in any games right now and if any of them are in person or done online.
Isaiah Cruz
I'm currently GMing one game, online, with plans for another game (Same group, different gm)
Jackson Lopez
>on that thing I totally I am! Rolls right off the tongue I am not currently in a game but we do occasional one shots at my table w/ college buddies.
Cooper Moore
currently GMing a game IRL, once per week every 3rd month
Blake Campbell
>Damn you for calling me out on that thing I totally I am! The phrase you're looking for is "I resemble that remark." As for games, I'm playing one in person tonight, and it's every other week.
Aaron Mitchell
I GM an online one and I also play in an online one
Zachary Ross
Currently in one that runs once a week. I play a Pornomancer.
Chase Ward
I miss the good old days when I got more than 3 hours of sleep a night and didn't type things out wrong.
Do you wish your real life sessions were more often? Are the sessions slower or faster than you'd like?
Jaxon Foster
How much initiative would y'all put on a non-combat character? I made a face and it just doesn't feel right to have less than 3 guaranteed initiative passes.
Brody Hill
IMO, if you have at least 2 guarenteed initiative passes, you should be good.
Blake Martinez
So, last night, I avoided being arrested by KE with a rating 1 SIN of the name "Firstname Lastname" because the device got a critical glitch.
I don't know how to feel about this. I mean, it was hilarious listening to a KE officer explaining to his superior that "Mr. Lastname checks out, he's not the one we're looking for" but... I don't know what to do now.
Caleb Hughes
Well I'd prefer once a week or even twice a week instead of once every 2 weeks, but the GM's got a wife, 2 kids, a real job and other shit going on.
Jack Young
Alright guys, give me your worst.
Thomas Bell
Nah not really we currently play three different games (SR and 2 homebrews), one game each month, 4/5 times per month. With each game being 3-5 hours long we manage to achieve enough but not get too tired
Jaxson Rodriguez
As I recall, Banishing is just really not very good at all.
John Morris
>Do you wish your real life sessions were more often? Are the sessions slower or faster than you'd like?
Once every week would be perfect. Right now I'm getting about 2 a month, and my friends haven't even gotten themselves married yet. I'm probably going to have to get a new group once one of them gets engaged, since we'll basically never play after that point.
Sessions end up being 4-8 hours, which I think is fine when people have adult lives to attend to.
>Firstname Lastname >scanner crit-glitched to save your ass That's your lucky SIN now. Hold onto it 'till it gets burned. Broadcast it whenever you do normie stuff.
Also, use your R4 SIN for the cops. Unless you're planning on just bribing them anyway, in which case use money. Run Faster says that ¥100 is a "good" bribe amount. In the hands of a competent face, that should like plenty to make some underpaid cop look the other way for a few minutes.
Ayden Parker
While making a melee character in SR is totally viable, it's not for everyone. I don't think you'll be getting enough out of what you have to justify it being your sole method of attack. Furthermore, carrying around a polearm but no gun at all when your a human sort of screams 'I'm a mage please geek me'. I presume your going to be adding more equipment and improving that SIN so I won't touch on that. Pick up a ballistics mask, though. You don't have any perception, sneaking, or con. Not only do you have six (!) dice in banishing, you also have improved ability (banishing) at rating six (and I think you can only have improved ability at half your base skill). This is not optimal. You also don't have stunball or IMPROVED invisibility. Or summoning, which is like the single best skill for mages (though I'd imagine it doesn't fit the concept). I dunno, man, it seems like you're building around a concept that isn't really supported in SR.
Tyler Bailey
If you built a mage or shaman to focus on protective magic, would it end up boring?
Charles Gray
>you can only have improved ability at half your base skill
This
James Morris
You can only have improved ability to 1.5x your skill rating. So, if you have 2 points in something, you can go up to 3, if you have 6 ranks in banishing, it goes up to 9.
Yeah, I should buy a gun, and I full play on it when I have more money.
I'll re-tweak some of my skills to get those (and automatics so I can use said gun).
Really, this guy is just supposed to be that odd Anti-spirit, and I know banishing sucks. I really do.
>The maximum improvement possible is your current skill level x 1.5 (rounded up).
>Current skill x 1.5
6 x 1.5 = 9
John Perry
Thats exactly what the two quotes you are quoting are saying.
Nicholas King
No, they're saying that I can only have improved ability at HALF my base skill. The rules say that I can have improved ability at at One and a half times my base skill.
It's the difference between having 3 improved ability and 9 improved ability, when the base skill is at 6
Ayden Johnson
Your total augmented skill level can go to 1.5* your current level Since you have Banishing 6 your augmented rating in it can only go to 9
Zachary Barnes
"they", which includes me, are saying you can improve your skill by half your skill Level with "improved ability", exactly like in the formula you posted. Stop being so dense please.
Kayden Sullivan
When I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
I was misreading it as saying that I can have improved ability at a rating of 1.5x my skill rating.
That... sucks, all things considered, but, what can i do. Oh well, I'm sure I can find some use for another 1.5 Power points.
Chase Cox
NP
Ditch Adrenaline Burst, get an additional Level of increased Reflexes, get exactly one Level of danger sense to be able to always throw surpise Tests. You also want exactly one Level of Attribute boos (agility).
Jack Johnson
>one Level of Attribute boos (agility). is that what you get if you post your char sheet to /srg/ and they complain about your agility score and what kind of shitty street sammy you are?
Kayden White
Idk, its the Standard advice for every Adept because its the most efficient use. You roll MAGIC + POWERLEVEL Dice, and resist drain equal to POWERLEVEL, so this thing is usually most efficient at Magic6+Powerlevel1.
Jeremiah Long
Hoi Chummers, got a question for you:
A freind of mine is looking to make a demolitions specialist, and I have absolutely no idea how to help (beyond putting points in demolitions and thrown weapons for grenades). Any qualities or such that I should look at?
William Mitchell
Branch out into either Infiltration (high agility) or face shittery to be able to get the explosives in place unnoticed. I'd probably try to go Cyber.
Grab 2 Levels of tailored pheromones, 1-2 Levels of that logic boosting bioware, some sort of Reflex enhancement, Orthoskin with the flame resistant improvement, Alphaware plastic bonelacing and a reflex Recorder on demolitions (not sure if possible), with CHA 5 and LOG 6(7/8). Go either Elf (in this case, CHA 6), or Human with decent Edge.
Jaxson Watson
Why does your character run the shadows instead of doing literally anything else with their level of expertise?

Note: There are still 3 skillpoints, 20 Knowledge skills and 21 contact Points unspend and I'm at 11/12 Points from positive and negative qualities.
You are also actually throwing 18 Dice with the Savalette (20 if you get a smartlink), Chummer can't into Cyberarms correctly yet.
Kevin Davis
I may be a bit late too this, but it's worth pointing out you can't actually take improved ability on magical skills.
Landon Moore
50cm or less.
Luis Morales
All the good Assault Rifles are legally Forbidden. Considering the nature of a shadowrunner's job, I shouldn't worry too much about my weapons' legality should I?
Luke Bailey
depends on your archetype Having a weapon at R or even legal means that with a Fake license you can get it through security checks, while with a F weapon you HAVE to smuggle it, no way around it So for a infiltrator it might make sense to get a R weapon or Taser, since for them making as much damage as possible isn't a high priority, while a sammy might spend more effort/dosh/favours to get his Anal-Annihilator to where the run is
>captcha: place 1945 no captcha, if you find yourself in 1945 I don't think anyone cares if your rifle is forbidden or not
Jayden Anderson
Damn, thanks user.
The player in question wanted to be a troll initially, which doesn't really jive with being sneaky-beaky, but I'm sure I can adapt some of this to help.
Ryan Ward
>wanted to be a troll initially, which doesn't really jive with being sneaky-beaky One day ONE FUCKING DAY I will go into the drawthread and make them draw a picture of a troll but not any troll the SNEAKIEST TROLL and it will be good

Shorter. Half-meter. It's dwarves who are about 3'.
That's not even a joke, actually look at their typical height ranges. They've been making them taller in recent editions, even.

he could land a nice job as a corp mage if he learned how to budget his money correctly instead of spending it on clothes and drugs
Robert Ortiz
I made a troll physical infiltrator once. Maximum Strength, melee for silent weapon kills, and a focus on non-hacking-based security shit. Physically disabling alarms, picking locks, installing loopers onto security cameras, using crowbars on lockers, plasma cutters - the whole shebang.
His combat strategy usually involved ducking around a corner and activating his chameleon suit to reestablish stealth, then coming back in for a melee sneak attack.
His fatal flaw - the one that got him killed - was being too thick to squeeze out of a building on the verge of self destructing through the narrow gap available, without enough time to widen it. He died still trying to cut his way to freedom.
Rip in piece. You were too good for this sixth world.
Brandon Foster
Is it going to just be a floating pair of horns? You know, because he's so sneaky that even being on the other side won't help you see him (much)?
Christopher Sullivan
Not the guy that asked, but is it that unusual for me as a GM to ask all that all the PCs have a 'normal' job? I was under the impression that Shadowruns, while lucrative, aren't jobs you can really rely on.
Andrew Martinez
Unless the theme of your game includes all the runners being SINners, then having a Day Job is extremely unusual.
Dominic Roberts
Day Job is its own Negative Quality. It's very much the exception, not the norm, for runners.
Jaxon Taylor
depends on the status of the PCs, their location, whether they have SINs or not and of course how much money they make with their runs For some runners it's the only way to keep up their lifestyle, for other it's a way of life and they focus fully on it and for others it is at best a secondary money source due to shitty pay
As an example: I as a GM make it that my runners earn enough per month to pay for their lifestyle and a little extra. If you want a secondary job then it's mostly to get some extra dosh or for roleplaying purposes
Jordan Walker
nah, I saw it mostly in the sense of pic related
Caleb Lopez
Not complete wageslaves, but Clinic nurses, coffeegirls, and !Wal-Mart employees. Are those a bit more normal?
Yeah, I think that's a good way to put it. I just think it's a good way to make people a bit more invested, if they have a home and family that needs the money.
Nathaniel Turner
Still very weird.
Alexander Bell
Even jobs like that require a SIN. Hell, you'd need a SIN to even get in the door in those places to buy something. If you want your runners to have jobs you are going to be talking "dishwasher in Barrens bar", "undocumented farmer", "scab worker", etc.
Matthew Cox
Would it be too much of a buff to let AIs and Technos get programs for free? I mean, damn, having to pay any karma at all for a single program that's 80 nuyen? That's ridiculous inflation.
