Why do they keep attaching Toasters, ventilation tubes and nails to themselves?

PROGRESS!

To be closer to the Omnissiah.

How common are 30k era cybernetica units in the 41st millenium?

Not common at all.

Why are Tech-Priests the best?

They do it for RoboJesus.

+++Techpriest signing in...+++
Im here to support the populace of this wretched realm, ask what you please

Because they merge the effecient structure and the great personal motivation common to dogmatic religions with a purely logical and technocratic societal base.
>wanting to start a thread about this on Veeky Forums intensifies

I just finished pic related the other day and I wanted to know what Veeky Forums thought of it.

>torture to the point of death

I feel like the mechanicus could make this take a lone time. Sounds unpleasant.

Do you think Angron was wrong in ordering his Legion to receive the Nails implants?

the abominable traitors were and are wrong in all things.

Anyone can tell me what the fuck these guys are? I suspect AdMech is to blame at least.

What do the mechanicus use for spies? Servo skulls?
You can't really see most techpriests managing to pass for non-cultist humans. Or do they have some biologis specialists that look human but have retractable mechadendrites or something?

looks like a combat servitor of some sort.

Maybe they never stopped. Mars has worse secrets after all.

He ordered, but they did it. I think i remember Kharn saying that they all did it unquestioningly to imitate their 'father'. So no, it was not his fault, it was his legions.

Dont know the source, but looks like a bastard between servitor and astartes battle plate. So its either veeery heavily rebuilt astartes or some unsanctioned shitfuckery

Personally, I didn't like it. Felt like an ad for the miniatures, which is common for black library. I think they had an idea with the internal politicking, but the dramatic tension was absent, and when they finally upped the stakes to an interesting level it was too little, too late.

I think stories about the mechanicus and skittles are hard to do because they leave little room for human drama by their nature. You either have to focus on the irony that they are more human than they admit, have them encounter dark mechanicus in such a way that their beliefs are challenged- forcing drama there, or have another imperial presence to contrast the cults esoteric ways.

However, you read the book, why don't you tell us how you felt about it, truly?

The forge worlds a probably so extremely technological and cross-connected that the priesthood probably knows most things that happen there. On other planets (or rival forges) i think they'd use either small servitors (like the skulls) or 'mortal' informants. The Omnissiah still has a lot of un- or little augmented followers after all

Do they really need spies? They have tech priests at many levels of Imperial society, on nearly every world in the Imperium. It's hard to keep a secret from the mechanicus when it's everywhere.

Not quite the same, but I think one of the Horus heresy books featured a priest augmented specifically for diplomacy- his face was a jar full of intelligent fluid that copied the face of whoever he spoke to- so nothing's really out of the realm of possibility with the mechanicus.

Iron Hands marine?

Now that you mention it...
Something the likes ofMedusan Immortals maybe?

Oh, that was in Skitarius. It was some kind of ferrofluid I think.

I liked it, but I have to admit it was my first BL read. Looking back I agree with most of your points. Is the Graham McNeill series any good?

So am i the only one that has purple Admech, I got pissed on by other people in my GW store for that "unrealistic" colour scheme.
What colour scheme do you use?
How do you pray to the Omnissah every day?

They exist in the Imperium.
Of COURSE they need spies. If only to counteract everyone else's spies.

I guess considering they're the ones who engineer the Assassins it's hardly surprising they use the tech on themselves.

I meant regular bog-standard Iron Hands marine. despite the heroic artworks they get, space marines are basically hunks on steroids with minds and their whole lives constantly focused on warfare. they really would look that retarded in real life.

Tbh i use the standard red, as it is the sacred color of our Lord. Altough its in no way "unrealistic" to use other colors. Btw i have a squad of 'sacred band' skitarii whom i have given purple garbs too

>think of some random excuse
>add litanies to Omnissiah
>transcribe it to binary
>use gothic typefact numbers
>challenge people who complain about color scheme read it without online translators
>when they can't, ask them what makes them think THEY know what being a true Mechanicus means

>this
Or just throwing calculators at them. Im a true reductor

i tried white/black star wars stormtrooper style. Looked nice. I also tried reddish brown for killteam-camo. my favorite is a white/cyan sydonian dragoon with bit from warhammer knight. So knightly

I recite the Litany of Activation, the Prayer of Hurried Loading and occasionally employ the Ritual of Percussive Maintenance.

Thats a good idea, although i should probably just throw calculators at them.
Should probably look to find a wholesale.

That purple looks nice! What blue did you use for the arc rifle?

Looks fine to me. Here, have some of my borderline-nurgel rusted dudes

I have a couple questions.
What exactly are cogitators?

and

Do all tech priests start as menials on a forge world?

Also,

How would you run a Dark Heresy game where the players are part of the ordo machinum?

Got a new phone, looking for the background I had a couple phones ago which was a admech cog-skull logo against an Amber/golden background. Working off memory here. Think it was slightly at an angle, maybe about 30 degrees clockwise. Anyone here have a big folder of art that they don't mind flipping through?

Posting my dragoon too, yours is much better!

Sauce?

Hey guys, do you want a lend of this uncorrupted STC I found?

I got a Start Collecting Skitarii box and I've been trying to decide on a color scheme for them that has green as the main color without making them look like Christmas cyborgs. Any suggestions?

Computers.
Big galaxy, no absolutes.
Not sure.

1. Computers. Its their fancy word for computers.
2. Depends on Forge World basis. But i believe a caste- like system where the children of priests become priests too sounds plausible
3. have them investigate some magoses clusterfuckproject, id suggest ancient/dangerous robot design like the arlatax or something very big/ important going missing like a titan or a ordinatus

NO ONE'S GONNA TAKE ME ALIVE
IDK who drew it. You can find the whole pic in the 40K thread on /aco/.

Cogitators are computers with a fancier name.

Tech priests don't necessarily start as menials on a Forge World, they can be a kid from the Schola Progenium with talent for building things that the Ad-Mech steals away, a vat-grown clone of a previously successful Tech-Priest, or an artificially inseminated union of two Tech-Priests, which is what happened in Priests of Mars so a Magos could have a daughter. There's all sorts of possibility there.

Finally for your Ordo Machinum game, I'd suggest having the players either be on a Forge World and brought together by an Inquisitor because the AdMech is watching HIM too closely, but not you, its own members, so he drafts you to look into a mystery. Alternatively, you could be offworlders trying to investigate something on a Forge World while trying to distract and get away from your Ad-Mech appointed guardian who is trying to either limit your investigation or just be as obstructive as possible. If your group wants to get anywhere, someone needs to be able to speak Binaric or possibly just be a Tech-Priest. Hope this helps!

How can i get away with fielding dark mechanicus units and chaos units together without getting that fucking come apocalypse penalty? Am i too paranoid about the people i'll face up against to make this army?

>IDK who drew it.
it's one of greenmarine's

pretty easy to spot his stuff, even the rough kind

Funnily enough, I just primed my kitbashed Inquisitor for the Ordo Machinum. Here he is.

How about we get the thump tendrils we have up in our collective exaustports and fix the skitarii creation tables

>1d4chan.org/wiki/Skitarii_Army_Creation_Table

What units do you think I NEED for my small Mechanicus army, I already have the stater kit (Obligatory Tech-Priest, skitari + Dunecrawler)

A. Use a really dark green, DA level
B. Make it so grimy that no sane man would mistake it for something that lived once
C. Use an 'exotic' green like the SoH

More Vanguard for sure, they are great. I like the dragoons, and Rustalker Infiltraitors, but they can be glass cannons. Actually that's the entire army in a nutshell, but Rustalkers especially.

I used kantor blue and then just whent over with lothern blueas a mix, not the best version and i dont really like it but it works

I personally have made extrwmely good experience with onager squadrons of three, exspecially with the lasers. But those eat up points and i dont know where your definition of small extends to. Other than that the skitarii roster is not that big. Vanguard spam has worked for me and warlords pe in a squad of three plasma calivers is downright mean.
For cult units i cant say much from own experience other than that they eat up points for breakfast and that cataphron destroyers with grav butcher every meq and teq that has and will ever exist

I like yours too very clean look too it

I only say small because I only have a few units so far, and I'm not made of money.
If I can get a few more beneficial squads, that'd be great

Really like those could work nicely as a dark mechanicus but like it as a normal one too

Do you need rangers or vanguard for the Dominus Maniple?

Thanks!

Enhh, he's a work in progress, I need to keep chipping away at him. Just looking at him I've already noticed a few spots of bronze I need to cover. Thanks for the compliment though!

I don't think it really matters. GW made a misprint on some of the formation cards so they said Rangers instead of Vanguard, the bottom line is you can use whichever unit you want.

Rangers

wait this isn't clear to me. Cybernetica units date back to when the emperor himself was alive, were they done against his will or did the mechanicus declare heretic to do something the emperor approved?

The technology of the Cybernetica cortex was because it was too likely to go rogue/ develop consciousness. They still have robots, just simpler and safer ones

Its more a case of those that went too far. The emperor turned a blind eye to much during the crusade, only after the worst atrocities did he intervene.

That said, join the dark mechanicus, we have spider bots.

I think most of the ordo cybernetica turned traitor during the heresy. Now all the loyalist robots have to be programmed for everything they do instead of acting independently and tech priests of the ordo cybernetica take oaths "more terrible than even the adeptus astartes"

That might not be an exact quote

Ad Mech would NEVER let their body get that dirty and rusty

thank you(dark mechanicus is indeed best mechanicus)

Why does the skitarii stuff look so good but the cult mechanicus stuff look so bad?

I legitimately cannot decide whether I think Kataphrons are awesome or retarded.

Why would yuou get pissed on fort that?
Looks better han Ryza's cvcvolour scheme, and I don't think that uses much Red...

This shit right here is why we keep losing technology. Magos Half-Mast is disappoint.

If you hadn't already based them I'd say that they'd look really good with the tutorial Duncan put up today.

Unless you're not into tentacle porn and slapping demons into everything.

Who else here is super excited for our lord and saviour(and possable new admech units)
Belisarius Cawl

I don't like his nose.

...

As far as AdMech stuff goes for me:

Priests of Mars - decent

Titanicus - great

Mechanicus - burn it with fire. Basically how to cram too much stuff in one book and explain all mysterius parts away.
The trilogy - very meh at first, decent in the later books. Starts too formulaic to be fun.
>Kids want Mureens, right? Let's add them in and give them screentime all the time.
>Mortal forces involved, let's totally make them Cadians, kids love their Cadians!
>Lets make the Titans fight against each other because reasons!

Skitarii - Buy more minis, kids!

How many points we talking?
When i started i picked up three starter boxes for £40 each, sold the two dominus on ebay and gave me a full unit of spider tanks, three of each special weapons and three full squad of dudes to use it in

Tbh I' not even sure

I don't collect Mechanicus/Skitarii
I don't even play 40k/30k, at all
but I will buy him anyway for the sheer awesomeness of his

"You see that book under my plasteel foot? It contains all the reasons why I shouldn't rip your spinal cord out and make it into a chamber pot cogitator. I hereby deem it tech-heresy."

Well i started with a nice 750pt list for a small league my gaming group was running and now a year later I'm putting the finishing touches to my 3k lists at which I'll stop at. All depends what kinda min pt games your group likes to play imo

Is this in relation to other BL books or literature in general?

wait, people are liking him? Is it only me hating this model? Seems a bit too baroque for me.

How do I satisfy the Machine Spirits to keep my microwave from making lightning when cooking Spaghetti-Os?

[angry dial-up noises]
RTFM FUCKING NORMIES USING SACRED TECHNOLOGY
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>She still has flesh

Disgusting

>Seems a bit too baroque for me.
he's an ancient arch-magos

"too baroque" is exactly what he should be

>tau legs

otherwise looks awesome

Consult the Tome of Grand Circuit-Bishop Threxus IIXV, recite hymns 45 through 478 in your included divine microwave instruction manual while self flagellating before said ill maintained appliance, then remove the metal spoon from your bowl of spaghettios .

There's a spider bot in the OP picture, and it isn't dark mech.

So picky.

was good def worth a read

I was there for the first thread. It's gotten beyond just a placeholder, but it does indeed need a few more tables, options, and cleanup.
