Ech, Tilea... The most beautyfull beaches in whole skavendom :^)
Noah Ross
Yeah, Tyrion is also Elric. The Sword of Khaine is Stormbringer tempting him. Malus Darkblade is also Elric.
Then there is Fulgrim in 30k and Prince Yriel in 40k that are also Elric.
GW just have a huge boner for ripping off Elric.
Charles Lopez
Also Broo.
Robert Smith
nth for best art
Mason Reyes
Get out.
Owen Thompson
Looks like the cover of a shitty metal album by some band that will never be on the radio.
Elijah Hall
John Blanche is the sloppiest artist ever.
Carson Gomez
Yeah, but I like it that way.
Reminds me of Stephen Gammell.
Samuel Mitchell
Looks too much like diarrhea smears to me.
James Gomez
Eh, to each their own.
But AoS art is shit. Go Adrian Smith or go home.
Adam Young
>no Return of Reckoning in the OP
We JUST talked about this
Noah Green
So, do some elves just live as Imperial citizens? Would some have been born there, not having gone to the other cities? I'm thinking about WFRP in particular, since apart from specific careers (Ambassador or Kithband Warrior) you're not really defined as to if you're a Wood Elf or a High Elf or what.
Also, are there any rules (homebrewed or no) for playing Dark Elves?
Jacob Clark
No one disses John Blanche on my watch, reeeeeeeeeeee.
The man is the heart and soul of Warhammer in both its incarnations.
Nicholas Johnson
Kopinski is also pretty great.
Dominic Allen
Blanche is great when he puts any effort into his art.
Jordan Carter
Sorry. I kind of skipped over that conversation since I don't play MMOs.
My bad.
Tyler Gutierrez
Yes, just as there are Dwarfs and humans born in Lothern on Ulthuan.
Matthew Evans
Aren't all warhammer elves supposed to be pretty much the same except in culture?
Not that I have ever played WFRP.
David Cooper
Agreed.
Nicholas Wood
For the most part.
Malekith fucks every generation of females so there's a lot of incest DNA, and Wood Elves have oddities to them, but biologically they are the same.
Samuel Anderson
There are 'Wood Elves' in Laurelorn forest and the like. They're not as mental as the Loren Elves, more like relict populations of High Elves.
I never really liked the idea of Elves as regular Imperial citizens though. It always seemed a bit too D&D. Sea Elf ambassadors and gated enclaves I like though. A regular Imperial character should have a sense of awe when they see an Elven honour guard marching through Marienburg, even though they're not 'proper' Ulthuan High Elves.
There's a balance to be had, I feel. Some of his pieces are just a mess, but I enjoy a certain amount of abstractness.
Nicholas Wood
Yes. I understand his impresionistic sketches may be skub (I like them, they are some great designer notes and modeling inspiration).
But he is great artist and I always wanted to make model of that Knight Panter in your pic.
Jeremiah Richardson
My Druchii race houserule replaces the longbow talent option with crossbow, and makes Torture a racial skill. Quick and easy.
Landon Ramirez
...
Alexander Morgan
I was drawn into Warhammer in the first place by Smith's kick ass, giant, fuck off Chaos warriors.
Grayson Martin
He also did some amazing work for the Undead.
Easton Wilson
How's Kings of War compared to the 9'th Age?
Jackson Kelly
I know Blanche is the purist deal, but I never liked his art. Early art is just disfigured and badly proportioned, and later art is as if he's on peyote. I hate that there's hints of a really great artist, he just doesn't do stuff in the way I would like to have them made. It's either awful or it's too fucking surreal.
Which is sad, because I actually really like the messy style.
Gavin Barnes
I forgot the most important point I wanted to make. That we can all agree that AoS art is shit. It's fucking awful.
I love this shit right here. If I could have that mixed with Warhammer: Age of Reckoning concept art, I'd be in fucking heaven.
Angel Evans
I know a lot of Warhammer to KoW is proxies because a lot of options don't exist or have a parallel while T9A is the same models.
Brayden Miller
AoS has a few pieces made by competent artists like Paul Bonner, but the fundamental design is rubbish.
Jaxon Butler
More art of Araby like that please. Pic related
Connor Cox
The helmet and golden tattooes ruins a great piece.
Matthew Thomas
It's not really the artists that are awful or bad, I'm sure. It's just like you say, the fundamental design is rubbish. What they're going for as customers is just so incredibly shitty that any artist trying to deliver what they're asking for is going to have to create some awful, over-designed turd.
Kevin Sullivan
I didn't even know that it was Adrian Smith I loved so much.
Ayden Richardson
Yeah, Paul Bonner is one of the best traditional artists that in the business. Even he can't make AoS look great.
Robert Reed
You know what bothers me the most about AoS? How they fucked up my favorite faction.
Dwarfs exist in two groups. Steamhead just exist and don't do anything and are part of the same culture as the unimportant humans because new Grungni, whoever he is, is just Sigmar's Hephaestus. Grungni did the assistant work making Sigmarines and nothing for his own people.
Grimnir is actually Gotrek from Gotrek & Felix. During the time of peace when even the greenskins are getting along with everyone, he just gets bored so Sigmar sends him to kill random things for no reason. He fights the mother of all salamanders because I guess she's evil maybe, and they both blow up. Which creates a race of Dwarfs who dress like Slayers but do no Slayer things, spread literally everywhere, do no mining or boozing, and are the third posterboy faction after Sigmarines and Khorne Liefelds. These not-Slayers are trying to collect the fragments of Gotrek's body to resurrect him, which takes the form of magic gold. The priests of Gotrek are Chaos Dwarfs down to the same beard, who use the pieces of Gotrek to tattoo not-Slayers and grant them powers but it is corrupting and addictive as well as dangerous, so basically its Chaos blessings but from Gotrek's sacrament. Not-Slayers will do anything to reassemble Gotrek including work as mercenaries for Chaos, greenskins, and undead. I mean they said all Grudges were purged in the end of ET, but what the fuck! No not-Dwarf even does Grudges now! Also Gotrek's people are doing shit he hated to fix him after he went full-retard! Gotrek is the God Emperor Of Mankind, Fyreslayers are the Imperium!
I swear they assembled the creative team, told each to write a sentence and pass the paper to the right, then used the contradictory bullshit paragraph at the end. Also Malekith is a furry artist production now since he's an elf dragon centaur who's super dark but the hero and beats up Chaos Gods.
Sorry for AoS talk, but I needed to vent.
Levi Williams
Hey, at least you also have Chaos Dwarves.
Julian Garcia
It's OK, user. It's OK. We're all here for eachother.
It's OK.
GW can't hurt us anymore.
Unless they resurrect the setting and starts shitting it up even harder, under the old label, even, god forbid.
Wyatt Parker
>grudges was just some bullshit Tzeentch tricked onto the dwarfs who have now become a generous mildmannered people
Adam Wood
I need help of a person with a psychical Mordheim Rulebook and a scaner.
I want colour pages of the Specialist Games rulebooks. I need them. Gee Dubs cut them out of the Living Rulebook relases. Is there anyone to help me with it, please?
Ian Allen
So what's this guy's story?
Gavin Diaz
Actually, you're wrong.
You have THREE factions of Dwarves in AoS.
The Dispossessed who are remnants of the traditionalist dwarves who were forced out of the realms when the Age of Chaos hit and many of them either holed themselves up or fled with the humans into Sigmars realm with Grungi.
The Fyrelslayers work as Mercs because finding EVERY bit of Ur-Gold is important, and to the untrained eye it just looks like gold. They actually make Oaths over damn near everything, and Oaths are basically the new grudges+, because a Fyreslayer never breaks an Oath, and an Oath can be to Save an ally or to honour an alliance as well as to wreck a reckoning onto an enemy.
I actually like the Fyreslayers alot, They're starking Dwarves with a very Dwarven feel, but like people said, they're not just slayers.
Steamhead are a Third faction and are supposedly steampunk as fuck, the Engineers guild given free reign.
Caleb Peterson
Even before the End Times I felt that GW had kinda runned Warhammer into a kind of low point. They hadn't done anything really creative with it for almost a decade.
Colton Moore
Valten was Snigmar reborn for the Storm of Chaos campaign.
Christopher Gutierrez
You mean 15 years right?
And it's the truth, it's honestly why I welcomed and enjoyed AoS, Ironically, as a Dwarf player. Because the Fyreslayers and the new Steamheads are still Dwarves as much as people ignore it and they're pretty interesting takes on new ideas.
Luke Cook
Village boy who beat up some Beastmen when they attacked his village and has a twin tailed comet birth mark that made some think he was Sigmar reborn. Franz gave him Ghal Maraz to prevent a schism.
In Storm of Chaos Archaon beat him into a coma and he was assasinated by Skaven later.
In the End Times Archaon was about to beat him into coma when the Skaven assassinated him.
Owen Myers
I like what they were doing up until the Storm of Chaos backlash. It was a pretty cool buildup to that event.
Mason Lewis
I think the biggest Ironic twist is I could easily see the Fyreslayers in the old world, Big silly hats and Runic brands and all.
It's just the model range is so fucking wild and the art is just as chaotic.
They could easily be refluffed as Norscan Dwarves who were said to have a rather drastic culture change anyway.
Noah Anderson
Great. Nice you have fun. But we do not like it. I do not like the designs, do not like faction ideas, do not like poor man's Planescape/MTG mix of a setting.
As I'm also RPG fag since 1st. edition, with two dozen of pods and dozen of novels owned, lolexploding the setting was for me far worse than stagnation and shitty exposition of plot points. 2ed was very good and it's body was not even cold.
I'm sad that they let bad guys win for golden space marines, man.
Let's differ peacefully and in our own fucking threads.
Cameron Wilson
looks like shitty PS 1 early 3d
Thomas Hill
Pretty much. As far as I'm concerned, at the very least most of 8th Edition can be completely disregarded.
The only reason I maintain the clear separation of End Times/Age of Shitmar vs. the rest is because it's a clear line of separation. It's easier to say "Anything marked End Times and onward" than to say "This, but not this, and sorta this but not really".
Some earlier stuff was also skubtastic, but at least most of it wasn't created solely to antagonize and actively ruin the setting, and going against practically all established fluff prior.
>I welcomed and enjoyed AoS >they're pretty interesting takes on new ideas.
There's nothing interesting in AoS. It is the death of creativity, where all good things go to die. Kindly go shill elsewhere.
Wyatt Bailey
First of all, I fully agree with your post.
Second, what the fuck is that cannon, what is it's name, where does that image come from, where can I learn more, and who do I have to sell my soul to to get one?
Chase Barnes
>Go shill elsewhere >Leave us to cry and rage like neckbeards >There is nothing interesting in AoS
That's where you're wrong, considering the Acolytes of tzeentch shit to come out looks fantastic and we're getting novels with more insight into every day workings.
I honestly do not understand the Vitriol. Do you get angry when a video game doesn't get a sequel but another game made by the same company is similar?
Luis Hughes
A big cannon called Ulric's Thunder, part of the Storm of Chaos campaign.
Joshua Green
>he was assasinated by Skaven later.
Let's be clear here that there was a great deal of ambiguity to that claim. It's not entirely clear what happened, and it could even have been Volkmar the Grim himself that had him killed.
It's part of what makes post-Storm of Chaos such an interesting fucking setting. It's insane that GW never capitalized on that. To those involved in the Storm of Chaos event, I can understand that it was forced and skubtastic, but in hindsight, the setting established is - in my opinion - fucking great.
* Valten is possibly still alive, or possibly killed by High Theogonist Volkmar the Grim himself, corrupted by Be'lakor. * Archaon is MIA after his showdown with Valten and the routing of the chaos armies. * Much of those same chaos armies, including Chaos Dwarfs and Kurgan, are holed up in the forests of the northern Empire. * The Empire is facing a harsh winter, after having peasants pulled off the fields in the south, it's north pillaged, and it's core used to feed armies on the move.
There's so much potential, so much shit that could be done with this, and these are just immediate issues involving only the Empire. But GW couldn't see opportunity if it came up and shat them in the eye.
Landon Turner
Huh.
That...is actually a damn good idea.
Noah Green
CG, 3D is 2016 shit.
Wyatt Garcia
OldWorldFag : Wow i'm so glad i didnt gave GW not even a single cent since 6th edition, those bastards dont deserve it
-WHY WOULD YOU DESTROY THE OLD WORLD NIGGERS WARHAMMER FANTASY LITERRALY SELLS BY THE FUCKTON.
please enjoy some decade-and-half oldhammer artwork from the based artost himself that his truly the source and very essence of both fantasy amd 40k.
Colton Walker
I kind of like Scuttlings. Honeycomb Dryad looks interesting. Alarielle 2.0 is an interesting take on Ariel.
Can't say I liked a single other thing though, sorry.
Levi Lee
heh. slav is right
Ethan Morgan
what do you say about Allarielle wow sculpt you AoS shill ? its a fucking horrible CAD shit with no proportion of any kind.
Connor Parker
Well, its true Fantasy sales were poor. Not losing money, just not a big moneymaker. The argument is it was caused by GW neglect.
True, AoS did boost sales for a time by being new. But indication is that interest is sinking like a rock, although to be fair neither side has any proof its doing good or bad.
BUT
We do know that Total War: Warhammer is doing RIDICULOUSLY well.
Nolan Bennett
>mfw this general
Liam Reyes
Yeah, I figured Valten's death was faked because he had the potential to cause a schism that might weaken the Empire right when it was most vulnerable. I don't think they ever found the body and Luthor Huss was the one who 'discovered' the assassination.
Valten probably ended up living out life as a humble blacksmith in some rural backwater.
Christopher Rivera
I see that Army of Darkness reference.
Parker Bell
Yeah. But old Ariel was fucking horrible amateur shit with no proportion of any kind. Also, dem thighs.
Its a fucking shitty direction for Alarielle. She looks like Aztec Hera now. But an improvement as an Ariel proxy.
Jayden Hughes
Shut up Sigmar, its all your fault.
Cooper Sanchez
I mean as much as the models are hit and miss and need a VERY shaded colour scheme to avoid looking too pink, but the Fyreslayers are actually fantastic.
They're Patriarchal Warrior lodges who make homes near a magical gold of their fallen god they hammer into their skin to be given a gift of their power, power which is all consuming and can lead to Gold-lust or fiery ruination.
They fight for the gathering of this gold and they fight to right Oaths of vengeance and protection.
If that isn't Dwarfy, then holy shit, people have misjudged the Dwarves by tons.
John Thomas
Also it helps if we had good art of them.
Bunch of Gold-lustin' Oath-makin' Rune-castin' Madmen.
Levi Diaz
We do not like it. It destroyed setting we liked in a shitty way, full of really bad writing. So we are kinda salty, yes.
AoS world is a MTG style world. I play RPGs so bare world with unintentional manga-styled factions, which I don't like does not interest me. But I won't get 4th ed. WHRP because of it.
Do you feel better by going into mongolian woodworking threads and shitting on what people like? You just made my opinion about AoS crowd worse. I tend to believe that most of them likes oversimplified wargames (WHFB was bloated and also bad).
We kinda cared for Old World. AoS we would not care about, but Old World was raped and exploded to promote it, so we despise it.
Colton Gomez
>We >All those buzzwords
Jesus Slav, stop it, you sound like gollum.
Caleb Long
I loved the old world but TWWH doing well means nothing Veeky Forums side.
i have a large group of gaming friends playing TWWH but you wont see any of them ever buy grey sprues that you have to glue and paint instead of just playing another 30 matches of CSGO/Overwatch between a day of TWWH.
Julian Reyes
Closure was needed.
Cameron Russell
>Everyone is that salty warmachine fuck
Man,kindly fuck off. May he stalk your threads with MUH price bullshit. You are a jerk.
Liam Anderson
I don't think so. Have you seen Forgotten Realms or Dragonlance exploding?
No, they made Midnight instead when they decided to go with other idea. Setting is a framework you work in, not through.
Alexander Barnes
...but why was Gotrek suddenly retarded. Why did they abandon the ideals of their ancestors. Why do they out shit they are trying to gather into their bodies. Why is is that they physically lust for Gotrek. Why don't they mine, have a society based around alcohol, swear Grudges, or have any sort of goal other than resurrect Gotrek? Why is it they will ally with Chaos, which destroyed the old setting and all their ancestors and that Gotrek spent most of his life fighting? Why is there no females anywhere at all? Why is there no Valaya?
Why are you acting like Oaths are a new thing, when they existed already while everything else was removed?
Why is Gotrek's worshipers being the new Ogres an improvement?
Why don't they have unity with the rest of their race? Why did they abandon Grungni and their kin?
How is any of that an improvement over what we had?
Mason Anderson
>I don't think so.
I do. Warhammer Fantasy was going to stop being supported, it's good they actually gave it an ending rather just left it twisting in the breeze.
Luke Watson
It means that people liked the setting, and killing it for AoS which got a lukewarm to panned response was a mistake rather than making changes to the exustibg setting by introducing their new elements and phasing out the old.
Tyler Walker
>Very climatic concept of Dwarf Slayer died for that.
Chase Richardson
all those question are answered by just reading the battletome you can find for free.
also they didnt kill anything, the WHFB dwarf are still available and damn strong in AoS.
Nathan Miller
user.
An ending that is shit is worse than no ending at all.
A terrible ending can ruin a good work. Look at movies like The Matrix. The ending destroyed all that came before it.
Liam Adams
Man, why do you forget than people bought TWWH because it is a Vgood game and a TW ? I guess half the buyers are WHFB fan, but many bought TWWH because of very positive review and the fact its a strategy game some even discovered the franchise because the game os good, not the other way around
its doing better than other WH games but not so much better than other TW games.
Mason Bennett
>Why do they not mine
They do, they mine and smith like every other idea of Dwarves, their Holds are built around their sarcred forges.
>Have a society based around alchohol
Because the Fyreslayers are rather grim and dour people, they do drink, but their society is not very jovial.
>Swear grudges
Because their society does so through Oaths, as their tradition is an oral tradition, not one with written word, hence why they have Battlesmiths who learn Sagas to shout on the battlefield.
>Have any other goal than ressurect Gotrek
They survive, propergate and establish new holds, to create better stories than their forefathers, the collection of Ur-gold is set to the Auric caste, and even they are not sure if all the Ur-gold within their hands would rebirth Grimnir and just follow their traditional rites.
>Gotrek Worshippers
It's not sure if Gotrek IS Grimnir here, seeing as Grungi exists and he was not given another avatar.
>Why are they not united with their kin
Because they grew apart over a thousand years in the realm of fire, became a seperate culture during the Age of Discovery.
You're arguing "Why are these dwarves not the same dwarves from WHFB" it's simple, Because they're not, those are the Dispossessed.
Jayden Sullivan
I read it. There are no answers to those questions in it, just fluffing what they have. If there were any answers, you or someone else would have given them.
WFB Dwarfs died. The nuDwarfs just use the same models, and are as important as Araby given their models are being phased out and get no screen time or in-depth development.
Oliver Carter
>An ending that is shit is worse than no ending at all.
No, I don't agree. Closure is important.
>A terrible ending can ruin a good work. Look at movies like The Matrix. The ending destroyed all that came before it.
Nope, I can still enjoy a film even if it has shitty sequels.
Jace Turner
Didn't they just made big money by just lending the setting? Did their IP got few times noted and used for companies that deal in such money they could own Gee Dubs, Corvus Beli, Mantic and few others at the same time and not really care? Did it sell well? Was it renown?
Yes.
Did intrest in game withered on the course of last two editions?
Yes.
Fuck, clearly setting's falut.
Michael Turner
Not to mention that "these are the last days of the world" has been a part of the premise of warhammer since they came up with the fluff about warp gates and all that jazz. Honestly it's nice that they wrapped up the old world and gave their take on all the old mysteries of the setting. I don't like or care about most of the End Times story, much like I never gave a shit about Black Library novels, but it needs to be regarded as part of the now-complete Warhammer canon, for fans to take or leave as they like.
Sebastian Diaz
>Shut up last time I did you ruined everything forever, you hypocrite of a demonic rapebaby
Ian Bell
Sounds like a lot of assumptions and no data there.
TWW is doing ridiculously well even for a TW game. The difference? The second W, Warhammer. Reviews for the game were actually lower than most, almost all because of objection to the DLC.
The fact that people unaware of Warhammer previously being interested is a positive, showing how much the setting has to offer.
You can see here on Veeky Forums as well as Reddit, the Steam forums, and the fan forums for the armies that people looking to get into Warhammer reject AoS for the story unlike the video game.
Cameron Ward
Congratulations. Your tastes are wildly different than that of most people, because most people will choose no ending over a shitty one.
See public reaction to Mass Effect 3. Which was basically End Times: Mass Effect.
Aaron Carter
The only people who seemed to be so heavily upset are grognards.
As a dwarf player I have moved on because honestly? I will see more things for Dwarves in AoS than I ever would for WHFB in over 15 years outside of the slayer books.
James Roberts
>most people will choose no ending over a shitty one.
I don't think so, think about how upset people get over unresolved cliff hangers or plot threads. People like to know ending more than they care about the quality of the ending.
Nolan Watson
Yet they have no miners, and they only establish new "Lodges" for pieces of Grimnir and when the princes are sick of their father cuckolding them. Warhammer Dwarfs were never jovial you Agebaby. Why would they have runes and oral tradition. You either have a tradition of written language or don't. Oral tradition is a property of nomadic cultures, not ones built around mining. So their society is literally just based on spreading out like greenskins and their entire theme is just a side quest. Gotrek is Grimnir because Grimnir 1 died as a mortal while Gotrek became the divine immortal.
Finally, why did we have to lose Slayers for this? Why do they have to look like Slayers and rub salt in the wound? Its not an improvement.
Jonathan Wright
You cannot be a Dwarf player and move on. Its contrary to the spirit of the army.
Chase Hall

>That ending was shitty, but at least that thing I liked is finished forever! -Nobody ever
Ethan Bailey
people in FLGS also always talk about starting armies and never do.
half of those thread are probably started by people that post here just to have an evidence backup.
This game is dead and will stay dead, if GW learns anything its that Videogames sells tremendously more than miniatures and that its free money and no devlopment cost. Just sell teh IP and take a % of the sale.
Prepare for 10+ years of 40K and AoS games. Most if not all models used in TWWH exists in AoS.
Gabriel Hall
>Why would they have runes and oral tradition I'm pretty sure that's what happened in real life. Even with more advanced writing, like in ancient india, you would still have oral tradition passed down.
