I run a Corsair Prince and a Corsair Baron on Jetbikes, both Shadowfield's. You get a 2+ look out sir and a 2+ Invul, so it makes it kind of like a 2++ invul re-rollable. It is usually very brutal

Not sure if I'd want to double up with a Baron, but rerolling with a Rending Relic sounds quite nice. It should also help a fair bit when the squad ends up in assaults.

The Captain alone got 4 wounds or something through, the other Custodes another 6. Remaining 4 were 2 from the Mechandrites and 2 from Cawl's axe.

Was my first time trying just how killy that deathstar is (considering it's built for tanking and not for sweeping units) and I was surprised how deadly the custodes actually were. Suspected they might put in some work, with 16 attacks per combat, but killing 3.3 Termies with 2+/3++/5+++ per turn is still more than expected. Their Block ability is pretty meh, since most attacks that even manage to get through will be 4s or 5s anyway.

Drop the warboss, take Snikrot if you want a character.

Not like it's a huge loss though. You can always but the steed, but a 4++ Invlun, and potentially use a relic to boost armor to 2+ anyway.

They were all just wearing their basic spears with nothing else, really. None of them were outright killed, since Cawl's massive body blocked so much of the field that most Termies were only able to hit him anyway and the few hits that did connect ended up being healed with IWND.

Probably would've added a Vexilla if it would've been ""fair"" testing at equal points, but I just wanted to try out the deathstar. I'd probably not even use shields in that setup, since not a lot of things are realistically going to really threaten you at a level your IWND and Tech-Priest couldn't handle and in melee your 2d6+2 I10 attacks in addition to the I6 and I5 attacks of the Custodes will probably be quick enough to kill everything that might realistically kill your squad.

There's a lot of things CSM characters should be able to take, even within their own book.

I'd personally still like a Chapter Master style Lord upgrade.

Are splinter cannons worth it on Kabalite warriors?
They can be effected by splinter racks, and salvo 4/6 means they can still be useful in raiders.

Ally a land raider and then put them in it T1 :^)

They're the best choice if you're running gunboats. 10 kabalites and a splinter cannon with splinter racks can put out a disgusting amount of effective fire.

The more I fiddle around with this Formation, the more I start liking it. With a decent roll on the Command or Space Marine Warlord table, I can see this working rather well. Too bad that the damn Black Templar traits suck even in their own formation, since pretty much half of them are covered by the Formation bonuses or so situational that you really don't want to see them turn up.

Valkyrie can be converted to be good anti-GEQ or weak-moderate anti-vehicle. Vendetta is good anti-vehicle.

Also, bear in mind that, as flyers, you won't have them on the field on turn 1, and there's a 33% (50% if the enemy has flyers, too) chance that you won't have them on turn 2. Adjust strategy accordingly.

Also, only Elysians (Imperial Armor 3 and 4) and Inquisition (Imperial Agents) can take valkyries as dedicated transports
