I dunno why, but this art was always my favourite.

>not Zorak Takes Over the Show Edition

Epic Experiment and Enter the Infinite. Old Battle of Wits and Chance Encounter are my fav flavors I think.

This is my favorite. I love the flavor text.

GOAT flavor text.

Toil to Renown is one of my favorite arts of all time. Definitely my favorite of Larry MacDougall's works. Also it's from my first ever magic block and features my favorite tribe: elves.

In other news, I can't stop building BUG and BG decks. Please help.

For the guy in the last thread,
how do you not have blue suns zenith in your kruphix deck. Its the best wincon in that deck.

I never noticed Lorwin's elves had horns.

>useless chaff

Nu-Sigarda deck. r8, h8 and comment

tappedout.net/mtg-decks/sigardas-angels-and-humans/

here you go
im trying to get a custom art of zorak for him

I dont think the story team at wotc noticed this. Nissa was should have been an eyeblight because she didnt have horns.

>implying the story team have half a brain between them

Sorry for the blogpost

>group is upset that I only run 2 60 cards(legacy goblins and a shitty budget rg aggro modern) opposed to 7 commander decks
>our games are primarily commander
>now they're trying to convince me to split a box of aether revolt with them so I can get "good" stuff for 60 card

I just a want to play commander

>tezzeret will be beaten by gideon, chandra, and the power of love where lilianas' vengeance for her lost love and powerful necromancy fails
I'm not going to disagree with you, but somebody there should fix this shit.

Not sure of my absolute favorite, but Ignorant Bliss is up there for both art and flavor text.

can a STRONGK kruphix deck be built for 60 bucks?

>lilianas' vengeance for her lost love
wat

Also don't the cards imply that Tezz escapes free of charges from Kaladesh?

Yes, it wont be very original or quirky though.

any lists, mein nigger?

Aether revolt's story is already out everywhere other than the mothership stories. Liliana is trying to revenge kill tezzeret to get back in jace's good graces because she misses the love she lost, tezzeret whoops her ass and then gideon and chandra fly in inside the heart of ghirapur, break the planar portal and beat tezzeret in a duel. He escapes to amohnket after shit talking and saying how unkillable his master bolas is, then him and dovin baan leave.
so the power of love>the power of love

I wish, but at this point I'm pretty sure it's entirely driven by market research.

>gaywatch are just generic monocolor mages with a few affectations based on the characters they were pre-BFZ
>plot of each set only exists to present a basic concept that everyone can grasp when they look at a few cards, and to lead up to the next set

I hope it changes soon but i'm not holding my breath.

*hope of ghirapur, jesus that is one generically named legendary.

>gideon and chandra fly in inside the heart of ghirapur, break the planar portal and beat tezzeret in a duel
Well bolocks. I was hoping from the last card in the plot series that either Bolas shows up and helps Tezz or Tezz finishes his job and fucks off to Amonkhet leaving the Gatewatch in Kaladesh.

Here's hoping Amonkhet's plot will be better who am I kidding the implied plot of Duel Terminal in the YGO cards arts is better than late MtG block plots

>playing card games for the story
>posting about it on a tunisian ice cream making image board

Nope, just play counters, card draw, land ramp and clones. Also invest in a dice set so you have a 10 sided die. Also the enchantments that turn things into lands because those are hilarious with clones.

>implying thats all we care about

C'mon, the flavor is just the icing on the cake.

what

Dark intimiations is actually a literal name, it basically means foreshadowing:the card. It represents tezzeret's post loss threats that bolas would be able to kill them all. Ajani gets spooked and goes to dominaria to get reinforcements but the gatewatch goes in because fuck logic.

>tfw WotC will never have the balls to make Bolas kill at least one or two of the Gatewatch before Ajani shows up with help to barely save them.
Also where the fuck is Ugin?? Shouldn't he be worried about wtf was Bolas during his time on Tarkir??

my favorite art is very generic, but I absolutely love Bitterblossom.

I have a print of it hanging up in my house.

best Flavor Text though is original Obliterate.
"For his family, Barrin made a funeral Pyre of Tolaria"

I'm retarded, wanted to whine about something. Nothing special. I just hate my group

Rebecca Guay's art is always beautiful.

My LGS has a print of it in one of the walls, it's p pretty. That, that one Orzhov aura and a Greven for some reason.

Just bought a box of Aether Revolt. Wish me luck friends.

fuck off randy

+1.
Absolutely, also best flavor of magic besides inistrad

...

Ugin talked to sarkhan and knows what happened to tarkir, if anything hes plotting against bolas. You can't just headlong rush into a fight with somebody who is a master chronomancer, psionic, a deity manifestation of 3 mana types from the core of reality, a planeswalker, a necromancer, and a dragon that causes anything that physically touches him to die.

Is mirror of fate spicy for doomsday as a back-up for if someone fucks with your main pile?

It's pretty dumb how boring they are making MtG lore for the sake of a team of people they can market for a movie. A movie is the wrong setting for Magic anyways, what they should really do is a series on Netflix.

>this fucking card
Well, that's nice. Craterhoof lite with energy could be nifty. Dollars to doughnuts it becomes a problem in standard.

Its just a basking rootwalla, it might be strong in standard but its competing against some fast and resilient decks.

>Basking Rootwalla
Rootwalla is good for it's 0 madness cost and pump. I'm kind of meh about this big lizard because of the GGG devotion, but I've built a few decks where it could be a one-shot machine.

Now, Chandra's Revolution is going to be some spicy tech. Destroy a creature with 4 or less toughness, then ice over a land? Sign me up.

...

t. Professor

Green once again this block doesnt have a reason to care about colors, if you can hold off the red green decks this card is a fine finisher against aggro, it also is begging to be used with rishkars, yaheenis, or barals expertise

Literally as I read that, I cracked a Yahenni. Time to build monoblack boardwipes.

I'm pleasantly surprised with this set, I've got a lot of new things for a wide variety of my decks. Ghave just got a better hardened scales with Winding Constrictor. There's also a 2B instant that can give a creature indestructible, and restoration specialist is going straight into Brago flickerstax.

How is this Craterhoof lite? It's not even close to Craterhoof. I'd kinda agree if the ability buffed all of your creatures, but that's not even good.

I love OG Innistrad. How separated it felt from everything. Even the Planeswalker battle that happened in Avacyn Restored wasn't even the main focus. You still were focused on the people fighting for their lives against creatures that are practically built to kill them.

Then they bent it over and fucked it dead with SOI and EMN. I wouldn't even be mad about EMN if it had been a monster on innistrad that was driving people insane, and didn't have anything to do with Nahireeeeeeeee or Emrakul.

That black instant is great, you even get a chump blocker with it. Just be careful with the snake, it will make infect matches a hilarious joke for the infect player.

Nah, Prof switches up the art in his basement pretty often. Rotates between Lightning Bolt, Bitterblossom and a couple others.

I just love Lorwyn as a plane, even if it only rated just above Kamigawa in market research.

Enters or attacks user. Assuming it sticks around one turn, or has haste, you get to swing with 7 + 2(number of creatures you control). It's not overly difficult to alpha strike, and if you're using him to alpha strike, you don't even have to sell out with your tokens to ruffle some feathers.

Oh I noticed the infect thing. Thank fuck it only gives one extra infect counter per counter you'd receive. I think the snake could be a staple in Meren, though you don't really NEED that many experience counters.

>muh phyrexia
All the market research from that time shouldn't be taken seriously. Cards from that block are still getting banned. Kamigawa and lorwyn have some of the best design. If zendikar 2, innistrad 2 or kaladesh had resembled either of those blocks there probably wouldnt have been standard bannings.

The infect thing is a much bigger deal than it first looks, infect decks can combo kill you on one turn with this out. If i had that line of text on a curse for 1B I'd play it in every infect deck because it's so nuts with proliferate and pingy creatures. I can already imagine the 1 wheel infektusar kill.

>that day with a Skithiryx deck

Yeah, but it's obviously a very meta thing. A lot of groups never touch infect, and more still run some silly houserule for it.
I'd say it's a relatively safe inclusion in most casual circles if someone isn't playing Nekusar or Skittles.

I see your point. Granted, I don't play in a meta with infect outside of guaranteed combos, but it's something I should keep track of.

Did you see this Treasure Keeper thing? It looks unreal in Zur. I swear there has to be a way to play your whole deck below 3cmc if you keep sacing him and bringing him back. They've printed some very good cards at the lower rarities, though I only cracked a single fatal push in a whole box thus far with 12ish packs remaining.

Totally, but the card does need the giant warning label because it would suck ass to lose a game of magic because you needed to have that 2 mana 2/3

But, any deck that's going to use it is using it as a combo piece.

In my case, it's literally hardened scales, though worse with persist creatures. It's just going to enable Ghave to pop off at a reasonable CMC.

Trophy mage is insane and you should be buying your foils right now. Its odd that they have started printing good uncommons again, but there isn't anything wrong with a card that can tutor vehicles and swords

If you aren't one-shotting, you aren't playing infect correctly.

Oh I know, I cracked a foil trophy mage, and I'm a pretty happy camper. I've also got that archangel, a new ajani, and the new tezzeret. I bet that new ajani is going to be pricey for his superfriends synergy.

Thoughts on this?

Very, very good, but contingent on later plays at a high CMC, so you wont get to use it as often as you'd like.

Seems a bit too overcosted to be effective.

>Great, more shit for U/X to abuse and poop on R/W

This is why land destruction is a good thing

I would seriously recommend having a sideboard alternate card to replace it with, it may sound deushy but it would suck to sit down at your lgs and have to go against somebody who has an infect strategy and a good fast hand that can get around your creatures and beat your face for bonus damage. Its an infamous archetype for a reason and the damage usually comes from nowhere. Obviously if your meta has no infect enjoy the hardened snake.

Not every player builds decks the same way. The way I build infect is different than the way the kids at my lgs build infect. The only reason I stress the point is because inexorable tide is in all of those decks and atraxa exists.
Play it with hideaway lands, it looks like its fun

Repostin to get some feedback
tappedout.net/mtg-decks/skullbriar-duel-commander-1/
Am i going the right way? I included only creatures that could help grow Skullbriar, some counter based equipment and a lot of removal or thoughtseize effects to control the opponent's board and hand.

Any deck that can ramp into a 6 drop early, doesn't benefit immensely from spending 8 to cheat something out. Maybe in a dedicated combo deck. Even an early blightsteel can be done more reliably t3-t4.

I'm so glad I own this.

Just to correct something that was said in the last thread:

Nirkana revenant is a shit card outside super weenie hut jr.

I have one still sitting in a hardsleeve

Only time I ever went to a FNM and they handed me one.

Happy Inauguration Day, /edhg/!

In honor of this momentous occasion, everyone post your favorite Jeskai commander.

My favorite is kedruu, disciple of Sanders.

I like to play it as a randian villain, who uses socialism to destroy all that is good because it is philosophically opposed to the good.

In practise this means taxing everything and arms dealing.

>Another Mana Doubler in monoblack with a built in use for that mana.
>Shit
lul

Nissa is from Zendikar, though, isn't she?

"Another"

No. Cabal coffers is uncounterable, and can be used several times a turn, effectively tripling or quadrupling your mana. It also costs 2 Mana to activate instead of six, is much harder to remove, and much harder to steal.

The pump on nirkana is never relevant outside of super weenie hut jr.

Right, but Lorwyn elves hate everything that doesn't adhere to their personal sense of beauty, going so far as to banish those who for example lose a horn. So Nissa, given her lack of horns and hoofs, should have been seen as something to kill even if she isn't as ugly as a Boggart because she doesn't meet their ridiculously specific standards of beauty.

>T. Someone who has never used Nirkana Revenant

A 4/4 body that you can play early with a cabal coffers is nothing to stick your nose up at.

calling the pump useless is also grossly undervaluing it. It gets out of control quickly

There's a difference between "Not as good as Cabal Coffers" and "Shit" that you're skipping over.

user, you're an idiot.

Crypt Ghast is 4 mana. The pump is not worth 2 additional mana. Sure, it's nice if you have literally nothing else, but it's far from good.

I wouldnt go that far but its foolish to cram in cards like that into any old deck. On the other hand depending on the playgroup it could be a perfectly fine card, not every playgroup is playing super legacy singleton slugmatch.

The only thing that excited me about SOI and EMN is that if Sorin ever gets out of the wall, shit is going to be hype. But they'd probably fuck that up too.

Sorin having to kill Avacyn was legitimately sad though.

Crypt Ghast is also a 2/2. The extra two power and toughness plus the pump does make it good for a decent amount of black decks.
If you don't like it, that's fine. There are undoubtedly better mana doublers in black, but that doesn't make Nirkana bad. It's just more situational, and doesn't slot into every monoblack deck the way Nykthos and Cabal Coffers does.

>paying $20 for a situational crypt ghast, instead of just paying $2 for a crypt ghast
If it was a budget card, Nirkana Revenant would be fine. It's not, which is why so many people hate it.

>this expensive card is good because it has an extra 2 power and toughness for 6cmc instead of 4cmc
>but it's also not good, just situational, and doesn't slot into every monoblack deck
>that doesn't make it bad, even though you could buy a nykthos and coffers for the price of one revenant

ive noticed that the guy who posts that same reaction image is kind of a dum dum

They also have hooves if you didn't notice that either.

Fuck that who cares. I want innistradivania: symphony of the night. I want oedric, thalia and sorin to have to cut swath through innistrad to restore the w/b angel that would bring balance to the plane. Sorin could make a mini avecyn but she could be less of a planar gaurdian and more like a token he generates.

>20 dollars is expensive in a singleton format
If the price point is your problem, you could just say that, user.

Ruhan of the Fuck-you-more-i. smash faces first, then deny your crimes later, like a true American.

But why would you spend $20 on one niche card when you can buy a crypt ghast, a nykthos, and a coffers for like $22? I don't get why you guys have such a boner for that painfully mediocre card.

Not that guy, but 20 bucks for a bad card is a rip off, snapcasters and avacyns are in that pricerange .

Why not buy all of them and run them in the same deck?
You aren't limited to just running Revenant, or running the other doublers. Running all of them is an option, and one that quite a few people have taken to.

This isn't a "Coffers, Crypt Ghast, Nykthos vs Nirkana Revenant" situation. You can run all of them at once

but your post doesn't make sense, you say you only play 60 card when you could play commander

but why run revenant when you could just run a card that isn't overcosted for its effect like bubbling muck

>Bubbling Muck
Okay now you're just havin' me on.

I'm serious, you don't need that many mana doublers. If you reach like 30 mana or so you can pretty much win any game provided you have a tutor or some card draw. If you run too many doublers then you have all mana and nothing to use it on

Aside from, y'know, Nirkana Revenant.
