oh no, two threads

any ideas as to whats coming next

the end of this thread?

DELET THIS

We got Gathering Storm II with a combined, "Aeldaeri" Eldar/Deldar force, I guess dealing with chaos.

And rumor has it Fires of Cyraxus is next from FW, Red Scorps and AdMech v Tau as Tau try to invade a Forge World, and AdMech opens the cages on some insane robos.

>tfw waiting for part to finish off a chaos lord kitbash/conversion

The Tau will probably win anyways.

:(

Nah.
IA usually favors defenders, and they have a different writing staff than GW.

They had better not.

Tomorrow(today in some places) GW gives us a reveal of something for Gathering Storm II.

Maybe crons try to raid the black library

What even is Gathering Storm?
>t. Newfag

Nids are coming to impregna- i mean devour the galaxy

I'm building my Skitarii right now. Holy fuck these robes are fucking driving me nuts. I have to hand file all four seams because none of them want to fucking fit properly. Jesus christ. I've never had to work this hard for a troop choice before.

Well part 1 of Gathering Storm was them blowing up Cadia, so 2 is anyone's guess.

It involves Eldar of all flavours though.

The not-End Times campaign that GW is doing right now.

I've inhaled so much styrene dust that I'll probably get cancer by now holy shit

Clearly you have never built guardmen then. The sprue lines are in the shittest fucking places.

Dont you mean Ahriman? He was in the teaser after all.

Why would the Crons give a shit about the BL?

These FAQs let me tell whoobooooy. So many people are going just straight ignore the fuck outta them at this point.

Skitarii are extra bad because they are so detailed, but AM/IG user is right. The Cadian sprue is from 2002 and sucks.

IA usually favors whoever isn't the Imperium

I got back into the hobby recently and bought some Cadians. After everyone was bitching about them I dreaded opening the box.

>Huh it's the same shit, it's not so bad

Then I buy a box of scions

>Holy shit these new sprues HNNNNNNNNNNG

Yeah, they're pretty bad.

Especially that AL one. Why even give them the rule if you know it doesn't matter?

>imperial agents
>Page 46 – Faction and Allies
Add the following to the end of the first paragraph: ‘Transports from this Faction can transport Astra Militarum, Militarum Tempestus and Inquisition units as if they were all of the same Faction.’

>aeronautica imperialis actually a good an useful sub-faction now instead of a useless one

people like to bitch and moan about the scions a lot, but I think they are cool

They are kind of cool, I just wish they had updated the old Kasrkins instead.

same

>GW defending shoddily written rules

Speaking of Scions, are they worth taking a squad with plasmas/meltas in a Chimera instead of vets?

The Cybork is an embarrassment, I feel bad for Ork players. I even gimp my list when I play them, but most of them just seem to be in it for shits and gigs anyway but I like to give them a chance to win.

How old is the ork boys sprue?

I don't think they can take chimeras, but they get deep strike and move through cover for free

>Aeldaeri
How does one pronounce that?

Eldaree

2007

Ale Dairy

Also it's Aeldari, not Aeldaeri.

That's 10 years ago. Fuck me that went fast.

Ae makes either an "Ai" or "ay" noise, but I'm pretty sure the first A is just silent here.

Also it's Aeldari, not Aeldaeri

Ork Boyz sure can squat.

But user, it's totally fluffy!

Yeah they can, but they just seem kind of expensive for what they are.

>That's 10 years ago. Fuck me that went fast.
it's certainly from before the CAD era of GW models, but it isn't so bad.

you can tell a sprue's age at a glace by how far apart the pieces are - the newer sprues fit more bits into less space.

So my friend wants to get into IG, but he's not played the game in a long while. Since 3rd or 4th ed, I think. He initially wanted to do a DKoK army but his wallet isn't nearly that deep.

What sorts of things should he pick up first, box wise? Any tips for list building? As far as I know, he likes artillery a bunch and doesn't mind infantry hordes as long as they're not a million conscripts or something.

AY-EL-DAAR-EYE

eBay is a really good source of guardsmen. There are heaps of unpainted/primed black guardsmen on there. Especially since the sprue is so old, they are all the same.

AIL-DAWR-EE-EYE

maybe in the AM book they can, but in the MT book they can't.

If you are running them as suicide squads anyway just use their built-in deep strike.

If you take the Start Collecting! Scions the formation bonus lets your suicide squad respawn and deep strike again as long as the other unit is alive.

I've inhaled so much that I'm now enough percentage GW product to be legally fielded as a counts-as model.

Ayy El Die Ree Ai Eee

I fucking love it dude. I'm putting my inquisitor with my tempestus command squad in the valk with a fleet officer immediately.

...

Why is everyone squatting in 40k? The marines do it too.

Its leg day.

A lower stance makes you more balanced, and harder to push back or knock off your feet. If you go look at some irl soldiers firing rifles you'll notice they often stand with their legs about shoulder-width apart and slightly bent, it's the same idea.

In memory of the Squats, who were, well, squatted

>me gob when

What're you working on?

They're all slavs.

Ironically enough, Khârn is Russian, yet his new model is not squatting.

Does that mean I can take an inquisitor, place him in with a squad of Bullgryn and have them start in a land raider with the inquisitor?

Page 46 is for the Aeronautica Imperialis

It means you could take a Master of the Fleet, stick him with a squad of bullgryn, and have them start in a Valkyrie

No? It's referring to the aeronautica imperialis valkyries.

You could always just deploy the Bullgryns right next to the Land Raider and immediately embark first turn.

The land raider will just get alpha struck by skyhammer gravcannons or 30 million grav shots from a gladius strike force

wait, why do you need the Master of the Fleet, the Valks count as AM(or Tempestus or Inq) right ?

Not the same thing.

Unless you go second and the Bullgryns get shot at first turn, it's the exact same result

He's required as part of the detachment for Aeronautica Imperialis

but he also has a pretty sweet ability and is only a few points that lets you influence reserve rolls

>not targeting the land raider or the beefy points pinata as soon as possible

Have you played this game

Was using this mini as basis, filed away the main dark angel's symbols, swapped backpack for a chaos sergeant's backpack, swapped powerfist for horus heresy lighting claws, chopped mace bit off and gave one of those nice demon swords tzangors have and finally waiting for a chaos lord on demonic steed's head to complete the model.

>Hm. I get turn 1 cool
>Hey look a whole bunch of unprotected points
>Guess i'll blow it the fuck up with my heavy weapons

Yes user, thanks for describing the situation I explicitly mentioned as not being the exact same result.

Eldar make a new Cadia!

Craftworld Cadia when

Eldar-eye

>Wanted to get a Hades Breaching drill a while ago
>Find out it got nerfed
>Hard

Fucking gay.

I think you mean Eldar-ee-eye

I still want it and an Arvus Lighter as set pieces for Kill Team. Have a team escort a Hades drill to an objective, or have them murder Zone Mortalis by drilling through the walls. An Arvus Lighter makes a good objective for defending or fighting towards for a breakout mission. Subpar rules all around, but some of the most neat Forge World models out.

So i am getting a friend of mine into 40k and want to start him off at a small point level that'll be fun to play and easy to learn.
He's buying the "start collecting chaos" box and the armoured fist box, plus a noise marine upgrade pack as he's a fan of the Emperor's Children.

I hope that this list is simple enough to understand, strong enough to win a few games and contains a variety of stuff so he can better learn the rules
How does it look?

For comparison he is the marine list i would run against him. I hope its not too strong, as both the libby and the sternguard DO kick ass

It's much easier to learn if you don't take any upgrades on anything, just take plain CSM and transports. The Hellbrute is fine since it helps learn more about different unit types.

Grow the games and the complexity of the units from there.

Necrons won. Orks won. Eldar won. Tau won. Tyranids won.

Guess what were they? Attackers.

I read the FoC. It has the word End Times in it.

Tau were kind of both. They invaded and were holding Taros, and the Imperium counter-invaded and got their asses handed to them.

Well, at the very least, Chaos still loses. They lost Vraks and the Badab War, which are both multi-book series so it's arguable to say there's two Imperium victories at least even though one spams two books and the other spans three.

Wait, hang on. Orks did own that planet, and the Tyranids also infested their territory as well.

Necrons were technically invaders although they were there for millions of years and were just reconquering. The Eldar were unequivocally the aggressors in that fight, though, although the fight was kind of a draw because both sides achieved their goals: the Eldar awakened the Shadow Spectres, and the Imperium got the xenos off their icy lawn.

Take a Terminator Sorcerer instead of the Lord. Same model, much better.

Don't double up on ranged weapons on a Helbrutes, makes the tard charge result much worse. Not really a fan of the Reaper either, bit it's okay.

Take Sonic Blasters OR the Blast master. Don't mix outside the Kakophani.

Take double Plasma or Melta-Plasma on the CSM.
Take less armor. He's going to struggle to open your tanks.

Either drop the Libby or give him a Sorcerer.

Plain Jane Space Marines beat the piss out of naked CSM. Marks plus Legion benefits are the equivalent of Chapter Tactics.

he understands that much, he's got a good grasp of the basics so far, just need to throw him into the battle field

at this point im more worried about the lists not being balanced against one another

I'd say it's more that IA favors the faction the book is about. Like, Aphelion was FW's Nid book, so the Nids win. Taros was the Tau book and Mymera the Eldar book (both also contain rules for some Imperial stuff, but the main point of the book is to provide rules for FW's Tau/Eldar units, with the variant Imperial lists being more of a bonus), so the Tau and Eldar win in those.

In this one, however, the Tau have already had most of their unit statted in the reprint of the Taros Campaign book, so I'd expect them to just get the stats for the new units (two riptide variants, the gigantic ubersuit, and the updated barracuda) and maybe a variant army list, while Admech will likely get 40k rules for all their Horus Heresy stuff (ie. thallixi, myrmidones, all the robots and vehicles, the various knight patterns...). So in practice the book would be FW's Admech book, with some Marines and Tau thrown in as a bonus, and thus Admech will probably win.

In IA4 The Tau did invade the planet first, but that happens mostly off-page. You've got the Imperium discovering the planet's governor has been trading wih the Tau, and sending a squad of Marines to fuck his shit up, and then it cuts to the Tau having sent their military to the planet and annexed it.
The bulk of the story is about the Imperium counter-invading the planet to drive the Tau back.

Ok so summarize:
Chaos (almost)always lose.
Imperium lose to everyone who isn't chaos most of time.
Tau win every campaign.
Eldar and Crons usually wins.
Orks are melee race that is good at shooting
Fuck Nids

So it turns out I have to use those two dumb Gemini twins with Celestine. They make her crazy good, but I just wanted Celestine.

Think anyone would care if you give her two marine bodyguards, or simply replaced all three with fancy jump marines?

>Orks are melee race that is good at shooting

No, we're not good at shooting either.

Crons got crushed at Damnos shitting on the fluff that a fully awakened tombworld was basically impregnable.

I'm putting together my Dark Vengeance set, and one of the models has a weapon choice.
One is a plasma gun, the other looks like a sub-machine gun of some kind.

Any idea if the other one is just a normal bolter, or is there a chance of special rules or something for that too?

Did you follow the instructions? none of the models have a weapon option.

It would bother the shit out of me but if you are playing a game where proxies are fine it's okay then

Orks are a race.

Maybe I'll just get two Raging Heroes jump sisters or something.

What does Battle-Sister blood do?
