Gaming Tables

So Veeky Forums, I just finished making this table for 40k and realized we've never had a thread about the tables we play games on. So feel free to post pics of your tables and whether or not you Made them or bought them and what games you play on them.

Marble tables are not adequate as dices bounce too much. Wood is better.

IKEA Lack tables can accommodate 4 persons at maximum. Being low, they are not very convenient. My best table was a heavy wood office table board with four legs screwed on. The thing offers conveniently room for up to six persons.

poorfags gonna poorfag

>So Veeky Forums, I just finished making this table for 40k and realized I've never seen any of the threads about the tables we play games on

They're almost a weekly occurrence at this point.

This isn't marble though.

yeah. I made mine out of a sheet of plywood. The orange lines are for deployment zones.

really? I've been browsing for 8 months now and haven't seen any.
yeah its just wood with varnish to protect it

Please do NOT waste a SINGLE CENT on any SQUARE PLASTIC SHIT from gw, take a battelmat, its MUCH cheaper, dice are finely better on them AND look superior.

Don't waste your hard work with shitty gw plastic

I wasn't planning on it, but thanks for the advice.
Better than nothing at least.

wtf man

That is a sweet table dude

I can only support this guy, never ever buy GW battleboard, it's both expensive and inferior to even naked table.
Battelmat are so much better in every way. Every way. I didn't believed it until I played X-wing, then I bought a fuckload of battelmat for my games of 40k

Ok I will probably get one off of ebay. Are there any good providers anyone can link?

No joke you are less than a days worth of work from good terrain. Go online, find pictures of building facades and print them so they line up with 28mm scale, then just cover the sides of the boxes with that and paint the roofs black.

You now have better looking terrain than what 50% of people ever bother to do.

Bonus points if you use photoshop to add aquillas to signs and use sandpaper for roof texture and cardboard trimmings to add some 3d details.

Still mad about contemptor

To be fair, that's a pretty old pic of our setup. As of now we got a battle mat to replace the green bedsheet and all the brown boxes are spray painted grey to match the cover.

Your contemptor got fucked up fair and square jon, don't bitch. Cassor was just too powerful for you.

>Implying Cassor didn't die turn one like always

storytime

If you've got the cash you should get a pub/bar table. Big enough, sturdy enough, perfect material.

This table looks way too small for 40k.

I've been eyeing Deepcut Studio's mats.
They've got a pretty god selection of prints and do mousepad material for fair prices imo.

>storytime
If we must

>be us
>new as fuck to 40k, barely know the rules and only have a handful of models each
>decide to play our first 1500 point game, proxying in whatever we don't have
>Blood Angels vs Crimson Fist Space Marines allied with bottlecap IG
>BAfag brings Cassor the Damned (pic related) as he always does
>BAfag also is known for having fucking terrible luck
>never wins the roll off, never seizes, all reserves come in on turn 4/5, etc
>but one thing always happens no matter anything else
>Cassor ALWAYS fails miserably
>he failed so often and in such stupid circumstances he basically became known as the group's own little EFG
>Knowing this, Crimson Fistfag brings something to specifically fuck over Cassor just to add something else to his list of fails
>A Contemptor Dreadnought, Chainfist and Powerfist+Plasmablaster (proxy model was an Ironclad Dreadnought)
>Taunts the whole setup and pregame about how Contemptor is going to absolutely wreck Cassor
>BUT THEN
>BAFAG WINS THE ROLL OFF
>BAFAG GAINS FEARLESS
>Deep Strikes Cassor down straight the fuck in front of Contemptor, giving absolutely no fucks
>Fires his Melta
>Hits with a 6
>Contemptor fails his Invuln with a 1
>BAfag rolls for Armor Pen, gets a Pen
>fucking Immobilized
>Crimson Fistfag turn comes
>Contemptor fires his Plasma Blaster at Cassor, gets nothing
>BAfag turn 2, Cassor fucking charges Contemptor
>Both strike at the same time since BAfag had not yet learned how to into Baal Strike Force FOC
>Contemptor misses every attack but one, and the one attack Immobilizes Cassor
>Cassor however hits 4/5 attacks, Contemptor fails every save, and each one pens
>Contemptor Explodes, doing even more nothing to Cassor
>BAfag goes on to table Crimson Fistfag in the coming turns, Cassor looking on in glory as his brothers advance

From that moment on, Cassor has never lost a battle that he should fucking should have.

I have also never forgiving cassor it has become my personal goal to kill him whenever he's on the board.

I was thinking about picking up pic related (although that price hurts my soul). Does anyone have experience with static grass mats? I think it'd be good for the models, but I'm worried about how they sit on the grass (wobbly model?) and how dice roll over it.

static grass mats are fucking awesome and are getting rare nowadays.

>$49 for the mat.
>$19 for shipping.

Man, every time I think about joining the hobby, I'm reminded why I shouldn't bother.

I thought that was a topographical map on the surface for a sec.

i think we do alright

...

Poo fag

...

Op here, just finished setting up the table and it looks great.

Shit, the image is flipped. Oh well

You can get the same size of generic green carpet for price affordable in your country at the nearest carpet store.
Just make sure it matches the drapes.

you think this is expensive??

Why the fuck do we not have a /diy/ thread on Veeky Forums? Terrain, tablemaking, etc...

Fucking disservice is what it is.

It's called /wip/

Occasionally we also have threads dedicated to terrain. Unless somebody dumps some scenery porn they die pretty quickly though.

glorious, I love stories like these

40K for that?

Sorry, forgot to flip the image over like we're apparently supposed to do in this thread.

We used to have more a few years back. The advent of gaming mats really made amateur tables obsolete.

>and realized we've never had a thread about the tables we play games on.

How new are you?

Well, I suppose you don't have friends to help out? This is a community hobby, where its imagined that a bunch of friends go together on much of the common objects. While you collect your army, your entire gaming group purchase gaming mats, terrain, table and space to play at.
