Turn one I'm deep striking all 3 flyers. Everything else aside from the command squad is in reserves. Everything deep strikes within 6" of the hq since homing beacon on turn one. The command squad will hide at the back objective camping under cover and boosting squads with long range ground scanners (priority on the executioner squads) or run up through cover to provide a close up homing beacon. (it doesn't say you can't use long range ground scanner if you run right?). Also deep striking both heavy bolter turrets in sentry mode (18" 360 degree) and the lascannon one is deployed in point defence mode (90 degree arc but longer range) at the top of a building to shoot from above from the backfield standard squads are used to screen executioner squads from assault troops with the flamer while they take on mcs and vehicles. Any questions?

I am a very new player with Blood Angels army and I had a problem on last match, and that problem was artillery (astra militarium specifically). What the heck should i do with that? With one blast he destroys almost all of my troop. Should i simply dont care about casualities, just spread infantry and get into melee asap (10 death company with jetpacks)? Or somehow counter it with my roaster (get my own artillery)?
Also is deeps strike on Death Company a good idea and can i charge after landing a drop pod?
Dominic Phillips
The list seems to rely extremely heavily on the plasma dudes, although I suppose the flyers offset this as they can deal with AV/MCs and hordes on their own.
Looks good, but if you're DSing your executioners within 6" of your Command Squad it seems like they wouldn't have a great threat range because of how protective you'd need to be of your CS?
Colton Gonzalez
It's not being a dick, it's constructive critisim.
If i was a dick i'd call him a useless retard who need to lean how to BS before he posts, but seeing as the UI IS a mess, I don't.
Kevin Green
Maximum spread, 32mm bases if you can, hide out of LoS to force scatter, deep striking things to threaten or take out the artillery, using your own artillery such as Quad Mortar Rapiers.
Blood Angels are pretty weak if they can't do their specialty, which is basically melee and melta.
Adrian Lee
Well the plasma squad will always be effectively twin linked and you're right, i'll probably keep the cs back since they're so vulnerable. Also don't forget the melta squad, I have an alternate list where I run two 5 man plasma squads with 4 plasma guns and a vox instead of the meltas, but I keep them there since I only have the lascannon and the missiles for S8 and up. This is the other list.

>Ah, son, you're back! >I heard from the Pattersons you made 9th Company - Decimater or something like that. Haha, always knew you liked those big flamers. >You got that there power fist with you today? There's this big lump of plasteel in the back that just won't... No? Ah well. I'm sure it'll be here when you next visit. >You meet any ladyfriends out in the big black sea? >Your Ma? Ah, no, she passed a couple of decades ago. Accident in the forge. You know how clumsy she was around ledges... All feet and no leg, hah... >Oh, nearly forgot! You're a proud grand uncle now, you know. Tibby's boy made head forger a few years back. Found himself a lady, and next we knew, he twisted her a ring and she pushed out a little girl. Suzabel. She's a real beauty. While you're here, you really ought to... Another time then. >Tibby? Well, he went the way of your Ma. Assembly line went whack, spewing big chunks a' metal all over. The 'priest told me Tibby did his hero thing, "Just like my brother," you know, and tried holding the loose belt with just his powersuit arm. Said he saved a few lives before it split, but you know how it is with them 'priests. Could have just been trying to keep my morale. >Oh, I have that vid-album you asked about last time. Let me just- You sure? You seemed real keen on it then... Alright. I'll leave it be. >How's that Damien you mentioned before? That scout brother you initiated with? Orks? Ah, son. I'm so sorry. >If you stay the hour, I can whip up your favorite! I'm no Ma, but we- I, well, after last time, your Ma and I decided to always have some in stock so we'd be ready at any time, haha! >Not today? Aright, son. Keep doing the Emperor proud. Your doing me proud, you know. Me, your Ma, Tibby - all of us. We love you, son. >Next time, if you can drop a vox when you land, I can gather the rest of the family, so- you know. Little Suz will be a woman then, you know. >Bye, son.

Which army has the BEST troops unit in terms of effectiveness for the points?
Who had the best (most broken) troops unit of all time?
Brayden Barnes
Oh yeah, my lighting is utter shit.
The red especially is somewhat dull, though, and the blue is probably dark because it's Macragge Blue that I put with a little leftover white I had out.
I'll give em another go-over next time I'm working on em.

lol Real talk though, I REALLY wish orks were better. Their entire codex seems like it hasn't been buffed since the faction was introduced. If anything, they seem worse.

Interesting. Care to explain further?

I still have no fucking idea why GW put those pieces of shit in troops. They used to be fast attack.
Lincoln Kelly
Because point costs always matter, those two categories are basically the same thing. Make something cheap enough and it'll be the most efficient. No matter how overpowered something is, if it costs more points than it should be, it's not going to be good.

Should just return them to FA and then do a Core choice where they're obsec with 1/3 heavy weapons.

Probably a dumb question, but an important one right now nonetheless.
In the Wrath of Magnus book, the rules part, it lists all the formations that can be part of a Thousand Sons Grand Coven on pages 36 and 37. Three of these formations (Lord of the Thousand Sons Legion, Daemon Engines, Legion Armoury) only contain a single unit and have no special rules. Are these still technically formations that can be taken in a Battleforged army, even outside of the Thousand Sons Grand Coven? Or are they only for that specific uber-formation?
I can't see anything that would make them not formations and therefore not usable outside of it, besides their lack of special rules. Can anyone clarify this?
Jackson King
That one needs to be edited with a not-white backdrop.
White backdrops are "better than nothing but not a whole lot" tier as it fucks with flash, lighting and light temperature detection.
Grey, tan or ideally blue to light grey gradient is far better.
Levi Young
does battle focus allow them to flat out? if yes then well that's just another dollop on the shit sunday if no then why did they leave that rule in?
Jose Gray
Because when they were Fast Attack, Samm-Hain armies could move them to Troops. When the 4th edition Codex dropped, the old Craftworlds supplement was rendered null and void, and Jetbikes were moved to Troops to facilitate those armies.
The problem isn't the bikes themselves. Unlike, say, Marine bikers, Windriders are still garbage in combat and aren't astonishingly tough. It's the fact they can all be given a heavy weapon. If they brought back the one-in-three limitation and maybe made them a point or two more expensive, they'd be fine.
Anthony Gutierrez
Yeah, somewhat. The red probably isn't that vibrant still, but outside that pretty close.
Levi Young
No, only Run.
The left it in cause it's attached to all living eldar.

They also have a fucking 3+ save for no fucking reason, meanwhile. Reavers have a 6+ save. Hell, most Aspect Warriors only have a 4+, so why the actual fuck do guardians have a 3+ save?
Easton Brooks
Everybody else a part for de and tyr got stronger. The ghaz "update" was a joke. Finger crossed for next edition
Carson Richardson
No, they count as indepent formations only if they have their own dataslate somewhere, as it stands they are just fillers so you can take a single commander or a vehicle in the decurions.
Connor Nelson
those are so dark I'm not sure if they support Luther
Grayson Jenkins
Do you have a source for that somewhere? Not that I don't believe you, I just need to be sure that I have it stated somewhere that those aren't formations.
Josiah Barnes
>Reavers have a 6+ save.
5+. The bike's armour confers a 5+ save, just as the Windrider's bike confers a 3+. Lowering it to 4+ would be pretty justifiable though, and might make Shining Spears more attractive if they retained it at 3+.

Overall decent start for a beginner, but here's few pointers: - Try to tidy up the lines between the red and the metal, as well as between the green and metal on the backpack. Use a small brush for this. - The white looks a bit thick and chalky. When painting white, always clean your water and build up from light grey to avoid having to apply too many layers.
Levi Phillips
For (you)r printing pleasure.
Charles Wilson
Honestly I think it's just that a formation to classify as such needs to have more than one unit in it. I have no idea where it's written on the rulebook but common sense makes me think that way. Also if you want to make your army with only single units you can just go unbound.
Daniel Allen
So there's no absolutely clear answer one way or another? That sucks. Guess that's GW for you.
Ian Cruz
They aren't a independently available formation because they don't have a formation datasheet.
The Detachment creates a "artificial" formation to let them be taken.
Eldar codex has it too with all their phoenix lords, special characters and the avatar as one man formations just to make them available to the detachment.
James Carter
There probably is somewhere in the many rulebooks and FAQs but as GW doesn't care about simplicity you just have to agree with your opponents whether you can or not or call an Administratum team to go find it in the archives.
Thomas Gonzalez
What's the best way to brighten up the green? It's just straight Caliban Green at the moment, which is what I thought the go was.
I've been having a lot of trouble with the white. It looks like it had air leaking in or something, and has mostly dried out. When I watered it down it just became super runny and unusable. I'll keep in mind neatening up lines next time I get to it, thanks.
Nicholas Walker
>I have no idea where it's written on the rulebook
Don't have my book to hand, but check the box-out that describes what Formations are, in the chapter about organising your army before a game. I think it says that a Formation needs its own datasheet, which tells you what's in it and what bonuses it gets. Which would rule out the little add-ons the other user is describing, since they don't have separate datasheets.
William Kelly

>What's the best way to brighten up the green? hard for me to say as i tend to use vallejo and those things are finicky. I would have suggested taking a base coat of a mid line colour, mixing it with (parts permitting) a slightly darker colour for the shades and working your way down and mixing up for the raised areas. I know that isn't an extreme revelation but that's all I got if i don't have a paint on me I play green skins so i am used to the greens otherwise

I don't even know what to do anymore. Part of me just wants to pack up everything and forget about them. There's nothing in my area, and no one wants to start it up, either. We've tried, and two games stores have failed.
Jack Morales
You finish by constantly posting your models here and WIP to get feedback Then you ask around you FLGS/GW to play with OR you look online to play the online version via tabletop simulator

Chase Scott
>You finish by constantly posting your models here and WIP to get feedback
I have. Pic related is the last I did. There's no motivation there. Painting them is one thing, but if I can't even use them, then why bother?
>Then you ask around you FLGS/GW to play with
Like I said, I tried. Two different LGS stores failed to get it off the ground, and a third, which is over an hour away, has a table with great terrain and no players.
As for the GW, that's 2 hours away, and down sized to a small closet.
>you look online to play the online version via tabletop simulator Then why would I build/paint anything?
Solo games? That just sounds sad, man.
Yea. I guess I do.

Why not do commissions then? That's a pretty sweet NL

It sounds like a logistical issue. Consider playing online. You'll have plenty of opponents and you won't need to build or paint anything.

Playing online doesn't have the same feel, though. Years ago, my friends and I would hang out and play and paint and build. We'd play on the kitchen table or even the floor of my one friend's apartment. We'd make a day trip to the GW and play there. Once the local shop opened, we played there. It was fun hanging out and playing, and you just don't get that online.
Yea. Maybe. Idk. I haven't been to the shop in awhile. If I see them, well we'll see.
