So you need a kickass and dynamic combat system that can be adapted for man vs. man, man vs. titan combat. There are a few games that can do that. Of course, there's GURPS, but I'd suggest Robotech, TORG, Rolemaster, Tales from the Floating Vagabond, Delta Green (2nd edition), or Kult (Kodansha edition from 2003).

Again going to advertise my own system.

To get a proper feel for Attack on Titan's misery, put the character's and NPC:s Death Threshold really low, like 3 or 4. Characters are going to die like motherfucking flies. Also, make using maneuver gear to hit Titan's Nape of the Neck an Epic roll. Going to have some grand old time there.

No need for rule conversion, just run it as is. If there's weird shit like Shifters in your party (or whatever else weird shit there is in the latter chapters, I dunno), let them take Ordinary under 10.

This might actually be a good time to suggest LotFP. Obviously you'll have to limit character creation options to the Fighter and the Specialist.

Depending on how lethal you want things to be, you can keep the save system with a few changes (Save v Paralysis is now Save v Grab, Save v Magic Device is now Save v Firearm, etc) or just concentrate on HP. Use HP in a Gygaxian sense: they don't reflect actual physical health or degree of injury, but are more like 'luck points' that reflect how close a player is to a situation where they can't avoid being laid low.

Well, Rage-user is Rage-user, so his opinion is shitty, but the show is overrated. I mean, take away everyone's clothes and give the Titans genitals, and the show is basically a /d/ thread if they allowed Guro, or something by ShindoL if he did Vore.

Pretty much this. It had its good notes (Some of the secondary characters were pretty fun) and a kickass first opener, but it in no way deserved the massive ride on the hype train it got. It's just a subspecies of mecha and a lot of redshirts dying in droves. There's some OK buildup to what will no doubt be one hell of a letdown set of reveals (because that's where the writing is) and the action is pretty alright. And that's pretty much it. Not a lot of meat to it but not terrible.

I can see the attraction for RPG gaming, though. It's a setting just begging for the ultimate Killer Asshat GM, where the system is rigged against you and just about every combat encounter is happening on a scale that would occur only a couple times in the course of a 'normal' campaign. Like Shadow of the Colossus, but someone hit Ctrl+c/Ctrl+v a lot and then inserted an arbitrary number of obstructive dickhole humans to get in your way before fighting swarms of enemies that could probably count as puzzle bosses individually.

I was going to suggest Tri-Stat if only because Eren is the PC who sank all of his points into "Unknown Metahuman Power" (In fact, the whole thing kind of reads like a campaign -- Eren is the newb/loon at the table, Armin the roleplayer with six zillion knowledge skills regardless of setting, and Mikasa the ruthless munchkin), but GURPS is just a better generic system, and beyond that I think has the right idea with slightly altered LotFP.

Ultimatley the biggest contentions are going to be getting satisfying combats where the different scale is felt, and having fast character creation since PCs, at the mercy of dice, have nowhere near the plot armor of Eren and friends.
