First for the Ninth Legion!

Can you feel it?

Are the dreadnought drop pods not available anymore? Can't find them on the FW site.

They're most likely just out of stock.

The flesh is IRON

Instead of bolter autism, how about some classic armor autism?

Would it be heretical to mix mk IV legs and chests with mk iii/v heads and chests?

Should the backpack match the chest mark?

FW doesn't seem to have any trouble putting MkIII torsos onto MkIV bodies. And old DG used MkIII helmets on MkIVs.

How do you guys feel that they are splitting up HH and 40k?

I'm just glad that we aren't going to get the boat rocked.

FW can't seem to get their head straight aboutt mixing marks. At one point they mention mixing MK3 and 4 is only possible by a skilled artificer, then they show dudes doing itt like its a fashion choice.

Do what the fuck you want, say they are veterans of Isstvan or something who had to repair their armour with what they had.

Picture related, an Isstvan loyalist. Just have a background reason why their in mixed marks.

>Instead of bolter autism, how about some classic armor autism?

What? Is this something from a reputable source, or did BOLS make some shit up and /40kg/ overreact yet-a-fucking-gain?

Has anyone tried getting metallic colours using highly diluted base or layer paints over Leadbelcher/Runefang basecoat?
I like schemes such as pic related, but monocolour is killing me.

Contemptor dreadnought with chainfist+melta and a kheres assault cannon in a drop pod. Good or bad?

I got 465 points to use and a tactical squad in a rhino + the above mentioned option seems like a good idea. The WS/BS 5 can be useful with this loadout.

I feel it

2 different people have reported it. Not the bullshit "industry experts"

To be fair, the bit about the difficulty had half of the MkIIIs torso repaired with MkIV parts. I think it's somewhat easier to mix whole pieces. Torsos, legs, arms, helmers than using scavenged pieces from one mark to slap onto pieces of another mark.

On a scale from total to absolute, how REEEEE is this?

Yeah, if I remember right the "had to be done by a master artificier" thing was from Book 6, where they're talking about an IH who repaired his MkIII torso and arm with some MkIV parts

>two people
Who?

Mikhael, who has an okayish track record.

And some other fucker I can't remember.

5 and 4 go together just fine, but it requires a skilled artisan to make mk4 and 3 not fail

not at all

godwyn, mk6/mk5 and bike are all pre-heresy kosher

>armor autism
My personal favorite brand of autism. I'm currently trying to figure out how to justify using bits from this:
forgeworld.co.uk/en-DE/Space-Marine-Character-Conversion-Set
with MkII/III/IV armor, namely which suits the legs would work best with.

Those are MkVI legs.

>modlines REEEEEEEEE

You mean the slightly different coloured line resulting from the gluing two halves together? I can assure you that the surface is smooth as a baby primarch's butt.

bump

Who the fuck is mikhael?
>googles
Ah, someone on BOLS.

So, a BOLShitter, and an user. Real fucking convincing.

Why the fuck are Alpha Legion so popular with /hhg/? Is this 'I am Alpharius' meme magic at work?

>Is this 'I am Alpharius' meme magic at work?
NoYes

Well then I might as well lop off the robot leg I want and glue it to the appropriate set

It's this guy and some fucker called razoredge.

Let's ignore whether it happens or not, how would you feel about this happening?

i feel it

How's that stealing working out for you? The Imperial Fist symbol and Salamander words were enough to satiate you or there's more you want to pilfer?

it's reeetarded

Yes, it's how I did my XX.

-prime leadbelcher
-Brush on leadbelcher to cover any gaps/second coat it
-drybrush high edges with runefang.

3-4 coats of FW Clear Calth Blue.

Not the clearest pic on my phone but you get the idea.

what are we ree'ing at exactly?

Also I did that without an airbrush. Would've saved time but obvs it's not critical. Aside from doing bits of chipping at the armor that's it, senpai.

No green hints on them but I prefer the dark cobalt/indigo description they normally get.

>FW Clear Calth Blue
Isn't that sort of a glaze?
Thanks for the input anyway, they look great.
I had the idea of thining paints down with either water or Lahmian medium, in my case Sotek Green/Kabalite Green for that in between blue and green.

I couldn't say if that'd work; I feel like thinning those two colors would be really hard to do when it has to cover a whole marine. I wouldn't want to imagine trying to match that formula if you need to cover an area like a tank or something.

Well, whenever someone brings up using 40k bits and models, there's a bunch of REEEE'ing.

A rules set dedicated to HH? Im all for it, have it written by Bligh and co and it could be fun.

I'll definitely get an airbrush with some Valejo or Tamiya paints as soon as my finances allow, which won't be for some months. In the meantime I'd like to start painting with what I already have.
Painting taking a long time is usual for me as I like to do blends and shit, so it isn't a problem if the colours don't stick right away.

I was just messing around with ways to do power swords and stumbled onto this. Leadbelcher with two to three coats of Soulstone Blue works great for Alpha Legion armor, maybe the first layer could be the green equivalent if you like that shade.

No pics sorry, but it looks decent and is really easy once you get used to how the kinda gel like texture of the technical paint spreads.

Here's a very sloppy picture of some dude that did it to a Necron.

He just kinda slapped it on there, but it comes out much smoother if you try.

I'm not a fan of it. Forgeworld have enough on their plate writing-wise with HH books, imperial armour books (which they are seriously behind on), specialist games, and anything else that takes their fancy. I don't think adding an entire edition of 40k rules to their workload is really a good thing when they seem to be creaking as things are.

fugg that looks messy.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try out my idea, if it doesn't work, I might just stick to the matte one I tested already.

You could probably take this stuff, add a bunch of acrylic medium and dip models in it, I wonder if that would work.

If 8th does come this summer then the work itself was done months if not a year ago and now theyre just stockpiling copies for shipping.

How many landraiders (mainly phosphex achilleses) and predators (mainly armoured breaktrough) are too many for 1000 pts? Is like 2 of the former and 3 of the latter too much?

Seems like it's just going to be a slightly modded 7th ed if it does come out. Shouldn't be too much work.

I'm with you man. I'd give anything for them to focus more on imperial armors. Both new and updating the old stuff

would the same kind of thing work for a TS metallic red? Spiritstone Red over Ironbreaker, maybe? Or would a different steel color work better?

Looks solid to me mate. Lookin' forward to seeing it painted.
Autism. That's what it is. Anything short of pure uniformity is under immediate suspicion. However, whether it's minor or major, just about anything can send someone into a rage. Frankly, unless you're completely disregarding the canon, HH offers a pretty wide degree of artistic freedom for 'your doods'

I know one guy here was doing good work with translucent red over gold, so that could work. If anything, I'd just be concerned with how evenly it sets, because otherwise it might end up looking really patchy (or you'll have to do tons of super thin layers).

Somebody did it with Bloodletter Glaze I believe. However, if you want a warm red hue, you'd be better served with a gold undercoat.

The molds were completely worn out and FW decided they might as well completely redesign the model.

This seems the most likely.

I'm personally more leaning towards a darker red, like pic related. I dunno, I like the contrast with the white

By all means, it's just that you'll get a cold red over silver.

I'll probably test it out on some random dudes I have laying around, once the weather gets nice enough for me to basecoat

Not so sure on the Bloodletter Glaze, it seems far too light to me to work as a TS red (I got a pot a while back and could never get it to look good on anything).
With the translucent reds, just keep coating it and it'll get progressively darker. I used Golden Liquid Acrylics Quinacridone Crimson for my Retribution forces in Warmachine. They're incredibly rich in color in person, and they take on different properties depending on what you undercoat it with. However, it also has a tendency to look like shit in pictures.

Oh. Well fuck that then
My doods in progress are NL mkIV and mkV on de-spiked 40k chaos bikes, which made me curious.

Is it ever worth taking any heavy weapons on vets aside from flamers?

Heavy bolters if you're DA(poison 2+), IF(+1BS) or IW(pinning). AL once Banestrike is made great again.

>Horus Heresy is marketed as the 'big boys' system, seeing more retarded people flock to it.

This game'll be dead in a year won't it.

Why not just use the CSM legs to make MkVI bikers?

I hope not. The lack of xenos keeps away a lot of spergs.

So judjing by the teasers Sons now have two extra cults and one extra order. What the fuck the two extra cults even can be? The five we know are edicated to five basic psychic discipline.

Also given the Order os Ruin is about psychic take on techmaines/siege masters, what the Order of the Blind could be?

It's more that for a lot of people it is harder to buy FW models than those of GW. Because the real cheese spergs switch armies the instant something more OP is released, which is harder to do with FW stuff. Your order might be delivered late or not at all, there might be parts missing or so warped you need to wait on replacements, you can't really just slap the parts together, throw some paint over it and have a model that won't fall apart when bouncing around in a box, and so on.

I have a few old 3/4th edition beakie heads lying around, so yeah I might as well.

The strongest of the minor cults. Propero was supposed to have many, many of them.

Nine great cult temples: 5 as the foundations of psychic powers, three great minors, and Magnus' sanctum.

Missile Launchers for more Anti-Armor/Infantry, go around busting transports and landing small blasts on footsloggers. Heavy Bolters are pretty good too depending on the legion.

The community is way stronger in 30k, nobody is afraid tto tell spergs to fuck off. Most of the events are themed, the books are expensive story and artbooks more than they are rulebooks. We're in a pretty good spot if things continue, even with the game going more mainstream. All BaC and BoP did was allow more people entry.

>seriously behind on IA
Hmm really activates the almonds

And it's easy to get more from bits stores. BA ones are quite cheap compared to regular ones and all you need to do is file a blood drop or three from their forehead. MkVI torsos aren't terribly expensive either. And BaC MkIV shoulder pads are easy enough to covert into MkV/VI ones, since the rim is so thin and easy to file off.

>the books are expensive story and artbooks more than they are rulebooks.
TFW your whole 30k scene is WAAC fags who only own the red books and have never even seen one of the black books...

I'm so sorry user. Meanwhile my group doesn't like playing unless it's part of a larger campaign. It's fun, but sometimes annoying.

Buy the black books and beat some sense into them.

My group has myself with blackshields, a waacfag with nicely painted models, and a waacfag with horribly fucking painted Scythes of the Emperer he pretends are 30k marines.

It takes all my energy not to smack him.

>horribly fucking painted Scythes of the Emperer he pretends are 30k marines.

Pics? I want something to laugh at.

Pic is our hybrid zone-mortalis board.

Damn, thars sexy. Was it a bajillionty pounds, or is it feasible to get? Moving into a larger house in a couple months and I was thinking about setting up a full-size table so we don't always have to play on the local GW's two 4x4 boards (tiny place, those, 5 painting stations and a display/newbies board). Would obviously need some proper terrain and some Zone Mortalis would be a nice change from open-field slugfests.

Sniper vets benefit from heavy bolters.

Armor pen vets do quite well with missile launchers.

Heavy flamers on melee vets are actually not shit

Don't know how much it was, just that it wasn't cheap.

>all those blast markers

This phosphex gave me cancer.

Literally

Have a Polish qt as a treatment.

phosphex crawling up the ZM walls makes me moist

Hello, Morty.

Are those space wolves, or is that glorious death guard on dusk raider action?

...

Can one get those blast markers somewhere?

I'm... asking for a friend.

99% sure those are yiffs.

Awoooo the wolf awakens

What teaser?
HOL' UP
Order of Ruin is going to exist rules wise?

warhammer-community.com/2017/01/31/first-look-at-inferno/

And another pic. This time some sexy world eaters.

Maybe. They could have rules, or could simply be a mention on the map. We'll find out tomorrow.

I thought the event started saturday?

Maybe it's friday where he is?
