Depending on setting and if you want to open things up again just follow real life. Scandis eventually started having similar equipment as the rest of europe, just half a generation or so behind for a while due to a lack of raw material.

Looks like lamellar with stylized plate pauldrons and a skirt. Swedes, Slavs, Middle Eastern and some Asian styles would cover that ground p. well.
