Let's design the most generic fantasy setting possible

>10000 years ago, the Four Legendary Heroes used the Orbs of Eternal Light to seal away the Thousandfaced Demonking forever...

After their work was complete, the Heroes sealed away the Orbs, the Orb of Water to the north, the Orb of Fire to the south, the Orb of Earth to the west, and the Orb of Wind to the east.

>After this event the heroes separated, each going his own way and to found his own kingdom.
>Each taking a part of the Orb so the pieces would be protected and ready should the demon return and as a sign of their everlasting friendship.

This actually goes well together.

Let's design the most generic copypasta thread possible.

In time the keystone shards of the orbs were set into the weapons they had wielded against the Demon King.
The shard of Fire placed within the Sword, Water within the Spear, Earth within the Staff, and Wind within the Bow.

>to the Dwarf hero Bromdir Goldenbeard went the earth orb, for he was as tough as stone.
>He founded an eternal home for the Dwarves in the mineral rich mountains of the Iron peaks to the west. With each clan of dwarfs went a diffrent mountain to call a home.
>to the Goldenbeard clan went the highest mountain and Bromdir and his clan Where crowned the uniter of Dwarfs, king of kings.

>not water as staff and earth as hammer.

>to the Elf hero Elothas Wildsong went the Orb of Air, for he was as swift and sure as the wind itself
>he founded an eternal home for the Elves in the magical forest known as the Greenwood
>Elothas Wildsong himself was made king and his descendants ruled over all elves as the mystical Kings of the Forest

I considered that, but I like spears more than hammers.

In modern times Grumogash, an Orc who has united various war bands because whispers of the demon king promises his people power

>to the Human hero Bjorn Icespear went the Orb of Water, for he was as powerful and relentless as the tide of the great sea
>he founded an eternal home by the shores of the White Sea to the north. With great ships his sons sailed each to a different island to call home in the frozen north
>Bjorn was made High Jarl of the North and the Great Council made by himself and his sons ruled over all humans

I feel like the Orcs should have the Orb of Fire and then turn evil at some point

The orb of fire goes to another human king — Zehir Al-Firuni, who rules over the Golden Cities in the Red Desert.

>And finally to the Halfling Hero Merrich Goodharvest went the Orb of Fire, for he had the spirit of flames themselves
>He settled himself and his people down in the meadows and peaceful farmlands of The Moors, content to while away their lives with fulfilling work
>Merrich was often considered the leader, and all decisions were differed to him, though he himself never really thought of himself as the leader type

Doing so good until. Seriously that's just terrible, it makes no thematic sense. He has fire in his soul so he sat back, lazed around, and never took charge and did anything? And why halflings? We need a retcon.

As i said hereI think Orcs need to have the Fire Orb and end up as the bad guys at some point with the orb corrupting them and making them evil

Or orcs could not be evil and we could use any of the multitude of other options we have. But I suppose we are trying to make a generic setting, and generic setting means evil orcs.Though nowadays dindu orcs are almost more generic in a way.

>But I suppose we are trying to make a generic setting, and generic setting means evil orcs
Yep, Orcs have always been chaotic and evil. That doesn't mean they are the bigbad though, only a minor ever present evil they raid villages and wage wars from time to time.

How about keeping the spear to water (it's sorta like a trident so it fits) and giving the hammer to earth? I feel like if you're going for elemental items and you're using weapons for 3 of them you should use weapons for all of them.
Also earth hammer goes nicely with

>to the Orcish khan Grogan Zotmog went the Orb of Fire, for his soul was ever burning with passion for fighting and conquest
>he founded an eternal home for the Orcs in the blazing southern steppes replete with beasts to hunt
>alas, his rule was cut short when his jealous brother Gazdok, seduced by the whispers of the Thousandfaced Demonking, struck him down for leading his people into this barren land

Has an ancient evil been woken up yet?

>In the dwarven caverns beneath the mighty citadel of %city%
>The evil wizard %archaic%-thrax began to recite the dread incantation
>Which would unlock the Chaos Portal to the astral nexus
>As foretold in the dark prophecy of %mystic% countless centuries ago
>As he placed the goblin king's crystal key into the altar before him
>Ancient runes began to glow on the surface of the portal
>Soon the gateway would open and the elder god %archaic%-bar
>Of the eighteenth hell dimension would be unleashed onto the galaxy
>The countdown to universal annihilation had begun

The demon king needs more than the orbs to be resurrected, he needs the blood of those who had defeated him so long ago

>Thus the Great Betrayal started, the Orcish armies marched North plundering and setting afire every village and town they encountered, the Mad Khan Gazdok leading them into battle.
>The madness was put to an end in a titanic battle between Dwarves, Elves and Orcs that took place at the borders of the far reaching eastern forest.
>Here Gazdok killed the Dwarven High King Bromdir and mortally wounded the King of the Forest Elothas, as a last effort to protect his people the Elf used his magic to transform into a giant oak tree wich would protect the forest for the aeons to follow with an impenetrable magical barrier.
>The battle lasted for four days, with both sides unable to get the upperhand on the other, at the dawn of the fifth day, when the remaining Dwarves and Elves thought that all hope was lost, the Army of the North finally arrived and with a valiant charge repelled the rest of the Orcish Army.
>The Mad Kahn, Traitor of Traitors was slain while trying to retreat, but the Fire Sword was nowhere to be found.

There's a land of Ninja, Samurai, and other asian things. But it's right next door to a feudal medieval kingdom.

>The favored daughter of the High Jarl, direct descendant of Bjorn Icespear, has mysteriously dissapeared from her fathers longhouse
>A chiefdom is offered to any man who can return her safely home
>War parties scatter to the four winds in search of the lost daughter of the Jarl.
>One such warparty has been contacted by a mighty Skald, a messenger of the gods who weave men's fates and a master of the mystic arts
>He warns them that the royal households of the Dwarves and Elves are also in danger
>The devout followers of the Thousandfaced Demonking seek to free him, and they already have two of the three bloodlines they need
>You must prevent the capture of the prince of the Dwarves and princess of the Elves, and free the daughter of the Jarl.
>It is your destiny

>A lowly halfling fished the sword out of a river and threw it into his fireplace, to heat his house in the winter and cook his food.

We just became more like WoW...

>The house later turned into a tavern/Inn, famous for It's mysterious eternal fireplace.
>"The Warm Welcome !"... such a cozy and happy place, filled with delight and mirth !
>no one would ever guess that such a humble place would start an epic adventure...

Well it IS meant to be generic.

as epic of a group that this is I feel like we still miss a wizard...
maybe one that just guided them on the path to become heroes or maybe was a member that died a heroes death. or both.
and have him return to guide the new heroes !

perhaps even be connected to another Orb of pure magic !

>perhaps even be connected to another Orb of pure magic !
That one was sealed away on the Moon.

A wizard mentor that mysteriously disappeared after they defeated the bigbad sounds a lot like Gandalf and it's clichè as fuck wich is actually good

exactly what I was aiming for. yet we need to make it a little different so it won't be a complete ripoff

Ah, but then we don't have a magic user.
There has to be a staff, a bow and a sword.

Earth Hammer, Water Staff, Wind Bow and Fire Sword?

Maybe make the Bjorn guy more like a battlemage or a wizard warrior, like Odin was.

I thought about it but it was already made to belong to a viking.
which is why I think we should add another person as a guide/guardian angel character whom is a very powerful wizard.

We could just do

>Bromdir could have probably been something like a war priest as well for the role of holy caster.

Another thing we lack is a "medieval knights" people/place but that could just be the northern humans expanding south and/or evolving their culture.
maybe after 10,000 years men have became more divided.

>Let's design the most generic fantasy setting possible.

Done. Thank god they updated this piece of trash into something palatable.

So who has the orb of water ?

Bjorn

...

>The adventure starts off with the Thousandface Demon King's minions attacking the town/inn in search for the sword

...

Don't forget about the mysterious elder civilization that constructed the orbs, and their ruins are scattered throughout the land. Some cities are built in the ruins. Thousandfaced Demonking is a creation/shard of a fallen member of the elder civilization.

Also, the realm's geography must be: ocean to the west, tundra to the north, mountains in the east and deserts to the south. Plains and grasslands in the center, with the occasional lone mountain. There must also be a large inland sea. Most places and events are in temperate forest climates.

Religion must either be a harmonious collection of various polytheistic faiths, or a highly organized, well funded monotheistic faith that doggedly stamps out heresy, blasphemy, etc.
