Repostan cos it was late in thread. When you look at the Caedere weapons, the Axe is a discount power axe, but costs 5 points more than it, the same as a power fist. Likewise the Twin Falx blades are less obviously shitty, but still basically discount lightning claws.
The meteor hammer might be worth 10 points, because instead of being a discount power maul, it swaps one point of AP (mostly irrelevant in 30k) and takes on bonus-attack restrictions* in exchange for an extra point of initiative (which can make a difference).
But are they really worth 1.5 times the cost of the power weapons their crunch is apparently based on? It seems to me that there are two logical roles the Caedere weapon can be made to serve, but FW has given them the crunch of one and the points cost of the other. They should either be discount power weapons with situational uses available to World Eaters, or buffed so as to be an expanded set of power fist/lightning claw price-range weapons available to the World Eaters. Both options would be fluffy and make them more intimidating in combat, but instead they're left with weapons less effective and more expensive than the ones they're apparently supposed to supersede, which all other legions can access, and a handful even outdo, for more generous points costs!
*Also what's the point of giving a weapon both "two-handed" and specialist weapon? Is it to give characters using a fist or claw alongside these weapons the bonus of another attack when using those (superior, no more expensive) weapons alongside the Caedere weapons they have equipped? Who even does that?
Daniel Davis
Good loadouts for an Archmagos? Taking a whole bunch of supporty stuff on him, but he's going to be hanging with the gravidons in the Macrocarid. Chainfist and Photon Thruster was what I was thinking, I'd take another Graviton Imploder but that would cost me T6 and a bunch of toys from the Machinator, and it's not like S6 AP2 Gets Hot is much worse than Grav when BS5 PE in the T4 millennium.
Also, Militia players, how do you kit your Force Commanders? He's obviously leading my CH/TF Genetor Levy swarm, in allied detatchment. Is he worth some toys? Was thinking a 5pt Tainted Weapon just because I might nail a lucky ID Rend, but that's all. Thing is, I always see lists where he has a billion toys and a Power Fist, wondering why.
Nathan Rodriguez
>tfw you spell Caedere wrong Fuck. Concussive should work on hits to begin with.

You know, that Helm wouldn't look too out of place on a White Scar...
Dylan Adams
Paint them black NOW. You are a disgrace for Lorgar and the Word Bearers Legion
Xavier Nguyen
Finished Custodian squad with attached Shield Captain.
This is about 500 points, wew lad.
Jace Taylor
Also a Scout squad which will be used as Carapace armour Recon Marines.
Jack Jackson
Black shoulders suck tho
Adrian Sanchez
And finally, thanks to the magic of magnets...
:^)
Joshua Cooper
Is that sergeant from La Mancha?
Evan Adams
Good stuff, nice bases and faces.
Scouts ARE carapace-armoured marines though.
Nice skin, and interesting head choices. Where from?
Xavier Ross

Christopher Taylor
Why's that Sanguinary Guard cosplaying as an Ultra? Nice.
Jason Campbell
Btw how many actual autists are there here? Aspergers ww@
Jace Carter
Yeah, his face was done based on both Don Quijote and my defunct Grandfather.
Most of the faces are the default scout ones with the hair shaved off and resculpted with GS, the two helmeted heads are from Bret armsmen, with some techy bits added on.
Dominic Williams
Fuck, meant to reply with my first post to

Reminder that Bobby is most handsome primarch.
Jaxson Wood
Then you've got Grey Slayer upgrades at the other extreme, cheaper than anyone else gets. Ridiculous.
Jeremiah Allen
Good work on that, the sergeant Quixote especially is impressive.
I find the helmets peculiar though. The one on the far right looks techy, alright, but an out-of-place aesthetic IMO. The on the left though, I thought it was a straw hat, sorry.
Asher Murphy
>shield-captain >doesn't have a shield
Hudson Reyes
2k alpha legion with some allied mechnicus:
HQ Viglator, AA, RF, power axe
Troops Tacs, AA PF,PD,CCW Tacs, AA, PF,PD, CCW
Elites Mortis, Khers Cortis, chainfist,DCCW, EA 2 Apothecary, augury scanners Fast attack 10 Seekers, AA, PS, [apoth] Heavy support Sicaran, lascannon, armored ceramite
HQ Arch-Magos,ordinator,MC photon thruster Troops 15 tech thralls, RA CA, IC 15 tech thralls, RA CA, IC Elites enginseer Auxilia, laccrymental.
so the plan is, the magos sits with the thralls, and snipes big tanks (str 6, lance, armour bane boi)
vigilator, sits with the seekers and provides BUFFS FOR DAYS
thoughts?
Jaxon Allen
His shield is disgust. Duh!
Colton Sullivan
approx.41% of the thread according to the thread legion demographic poll
Chase Bennett
So when is someone just gonna paint these as Klan members?
Jose White
It should be Prefect, not Shield Captain anyway, Shield Captain should be the title for the Custodes in each squad with the best pose.
Brayden Young
What kind of archmagos? If you go myrmidax he can take two photon thrusters which is pretty sweet.
John Rogers
Because the HQ would be a wizard, which would break the Edict of Nikaea.
John Hill
Why do you think he has no sense of right or wrong?
Anthony Phillips
Laughed, but I might consider a white armour for my (eventual set of) Custodes, who knows.
Yeah, and we could make a Magos the Grand Dragon.
Jonathan Powell
Yeah, I wanted to go for a more feudal aesthetic on those lads, I enjoy the straw hat guy, merely because if slightly out of place, it gives him some character.
Kek
Well, he is magnetized to carry one if needed, I just like him better without it.
Evan King
He's an Archimandrite, I just figured that after loading him up with Occularis and survivability gear he may as well have a couple decent weapons. This way he has Photon Thruster + Inferno Pistol/Flamer, which is decent dakka to follow up with 4 Chainfist attacks and two Shred Armourbane Power Axe attacks.
Ryan Hill
My project for this week.
Benjamin Howard
Good luck DG-user.
I hope those hands are magnetised?
Easton Hughes
Never. I only magnetise dreads.
Jordan Cook
What recommendations do you have for dread magnetisation? What's your system?
James Lopez
I use pieces from food cans for the magnets to attach to. Also a drill.
Camden Miller
What size magnets? (In mm)
Jonathan Jenkins
3 mm I think? I think I bought a set from ebay which had a drill and same-sized magnets years ago.
Jackson Bennett
So now that the post inferno madness has settled a bit Whats /hhg/s overall opinion of the custodes? To me it seems fairly accurate to the fluff, individually very powerfull, but under sustained fire from astartes they will eventually crumble Also I can't be the only one whos ok with AP3 spears, the its stil very good against marines and means you have to plan your charges carefully, rather than 40k where its 'point the custodes at tge bad guy and kill them'
John Bell
Pretty much. Squads full of AP2 at initiative are only for the truest paragons of the Imperium, the finest supersoldiers in the galaxy from the finest source in the galaxy.
Carter Diaz
>Whats /hhg/s overall opinion of the custodes?
Powerful and resilient army that will most likely lose the objective against most armies.
Jeremiah Hernandez
You can't lose the objective if you never played the objective to begin with.
Alexander Ward
At this persistence of begging you should just buy them m8.
Zachary Ramirez
For the user that asked me for a full army shot a few threads ago, here you go mate.
Ryan Perry
I think Valdor's rules are over the top, and maaaaybe the Caladius grav-tank, but as an army they seem alright. There'll probably be some paper-scissors-rock effect, win big or lose big based on whether you make it into close combat or not.
Ethan Perry
These are very nice.
Austin Martinez
>40k jetpacks
Thomas Rivera
0/30,000, prepare for censure.
Bentley Foster
GW plastics are the only source for MkVI Assault squads and Im 99% sure those jump packs are for MkVI and MkVII but I could be wrong.
Nolan Gomez
>RG army absolutely must have only MkVI
Hunter Edwards
Old fluff mentions those jump packs being developed along with MkVI armour, there's multiple depictions of Heresy era troops equipped with those as well.
Benjamin Thompson
>RG shouldn't use MkVI
/hhg/ never ceases to amaze me.
Nicholas Foster
When in doubt, it's safe to assume 40k stuff is Mark VI, since Marks 5 through 8 are fundamentally upgrades of the Mark IV, or at least backwards compatible.
>Heresy-era armour isn't allowed if it isn't FW

There's no difference between using plastic MkVI and using plastic marks not made anymore in the 41st millennium.
Chase Adams

Their basic troop squads and most of their vehicles are fine I think, it's just that pretty much everyone who plays them is clearly gonna use valdor or cheese-stodes himself, both who seem very over the top for their price. Considering a legion Praetor can get close if you kit him out to the fullest but is still relative trash compared though.
I think their tanks are fine considering that have shit rear armor and can't be squadrons if I'm not mistaken
The one elite dread that can have a potential desstroyer weapon is a bit over the top compared to its price
Their heavy support squads is arguably trash compared to an equivalent legion squad and even their own jetbikes
The Heatoron guard could be somewhat cheese depending on load out, their terminators are arguably overshadowed by said elite guard unit though
Not custodes, but the sisters seem fine but I highly doubt if you play Talons of the Emperor, your gonna take sisters because of how hardy their basic sqauds are even if sisters would make good scoring units
All in all, if someone is playing custodes, first judge them on how their HQ is set up, if it's valdor the person may be hit or miss, but if they're playing cheese-stodes then judge him hard. From their either prepare to bring out all the S6 firepower to reliably force saves or prepare to spam all of the S10 AP2/Instadeath weapons you have on them to remove them
Just be happy they don't have access to wide spread feel no pain
>I apologise now for mentioning them not having feel no pain as forge world may now very well give them army wide access to it
Carson Price
What different combat tendencies would Death Guard chapters have? Chemical warfare, footslogging and terminator/dreadnought focus are kinda universal to the whole legion.
Isaiah Myers
Anything that isn't technically impossible thanks to their legion restrictions, but I don't think they're one of those legions.
Jaxson White
I just need something to give my Chapter some character.
Henry Hernandez
That's the dumbest thing BL has released
Andrew Gutierrez
It's annoying that Word Bearers' combat doctrines aren't expanded upon beyond "they like using mass waves inf" etc.
I really like the Death Guard's slogging, heavy focus, but they've got the worst lore. I guess Word Bearers are vanilla space marines because they're more civilization-builders, so I can just do whatever kind of setup. Plus demons n' magical shit
Carson Smith
They got those poison huffer ships, don't they? As I'm using The Reaping, I've been working on making me entire army as a sort of Destroyer company or something. Just rad grenades, chemical weapons, etc. all over the place. 420 huff it.
Angel Phillips
Demons and diabolists are the biggest thing.
That's not a particularly unique idea among Death Guard chapters desu. I'm not DG, but I do wish destroyers were stronger (better options) and there was an RoW for them and certain siege-oriented legion units.
Leo Moore
I don't know user, they seem to care more about simbolism in their actions than militar tactics. I like to think of them using big formations of troops and smashing the enemy by numbers while ashen circle squads purge the false emperor's icons and vindicators destroy the cities to the ground.
Christopher Morris
>Demons and diabolists are the biggest thing.
Until other traitors start getting access to them.
Ryan Perry
Blue pls
To be honest, I think I'll just take lots of Chainaxes, the occasional Power Fist and a Melta Bomb. We've got to breach the Eternity Gate after all and with Sanguinius and his lads defending it, we're gonna have hit hard *if* we make it.
Also, Spartan Vehicle Upgrades are cool. I'm liking the Arnoured Ceramite, Flare Shield, Auxilliary Drive and Dozer Blade.
Rough template is: The RAEG Bus Legion Spartan Assault Tank: 295 Auxilliary Drive: 10 Armoured Ceramite: 20 Flare Shiled: 25 Dozer Blade: 5 Total Cost:355
Ethan Harris
I'm building Space Fleet to accompany my Ultramarines, what kind of Battlecruiser or Grand Cruiser would you say is the most fitting for Astartes? An Exorcist looks like it might fit, but I'd like your opinion, /hhg/
Ian Smith
>force commander
The real answer is nothing. The fun answer is EVERYTHING!
Aaron Murphy
How'd you do the dirty gold?
Jaxson Jones
They had strike cruisers and battle barges in the 30th millenium - both the Iron Blood and the Contrador were of that design in Book 3. I'd just go with one of those.
Christopher Mitchell
>toy with an idea to make HQ out of the old mkIII chapter master model >all masters of the chapter kits on ebay are around 70+ euros >meanwhile it's 26 €+postage on GW site
Grayson Hall
You aren't using the correct army list are you user?
Gabriel Brooks
Grand cruisers are sexy as hell but you're never gonna get a model for them. I would go with the Exorcist or the Retaliator for versatility. For a battleship I would go with the Oberon all the way for the same reason.
Gavin Foster
I got a metal one for like 10€ not so long ago. He'll be my Breacher sergeant.
Jonathan Jenkins
Yeah, thought so. We did a "Build-a-snowflake" competition once, 200pts worth of Faction HQ per player, cage match with 7 different players. Lots of single Praetors and Magi, and the SA guy with a kitted Marshal who kept teleporting onto people and across the cage. And one dude with 2 Force Coms with Rending ID and a couple toys, who wound up winning because everyone else went with the Powerfist Mathhammer and got sliced by 8 Rending ID attacks with Zealot and sometimes PE.
Luis Hernandez
2500 points of manly humans also trying to go for something that isnt just dracosian spam
HQ Lord Marshal Archeotech Pistol, Artificer Armour 110 pts
>They had strike cruisers and battle barges in the 30th millenium I know, but similar to tanks the variety of ships used was much greater back then, and they actually fielded line ships instead of the glorified troop- and Exterminatus- delivery systems called Battle Barges. I will certainly field a few of those as it is mentioned that Guilliman actually already focused on what would later become general Marine Navy Tactics, but I want a Grand-/Battle-cruiser because >A Battle Barges are too huge for 750 points games >B I will probably play a Heresy campaign with other people and if everybody runs plain CSs and BBs it's gonna be quite boring and >C They're damn sexy.
>Grand cruisers are sexy as hell but you're never gonna get a model for them Eh, they pop up on ebay occasionally.
Camden Murphy
Metal rules but failcast versions are better for converting.
James Gonzalez
I don't know which is the correct list.
Xavier Stewart
