My gf, and sister wanna start playing board games, so I picked up settlers of catan and zombie dice. Anything else I should grab to get complete beginners into board games?

Carcassonne, Blokus (2 player), Hanabi, and Tsuro

Splendor is an excellent intro game. On the other hand, Settlers of Catan isn't.

I always thought Zombies!!! was pretty fun and easy to learn.

This. I fucking love Zombies!!!! Also the miniatures are great for zombie apocaypse campaigns.

Pandemic for an excellent introduction to cooperative boardgames.

Skull (Or Skulls and Roses, depending on area) is an extremely enjoyable light bluffing game.

Ticket to Ride is a great game for beginners. For two players, Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small is excellent as well.

>playing catan with your sister
that's some sick shit bro

Try the 3M collection games

Talisman is an excellent 'gateway' game, in my view

Can somebody explain Catan meme to me?

Agricola

Well Catan will end your relationship and make your sister murder you so you're covered.

Kingdom Death Monster.

You're probably trolling, but it's not hard to learn (hard to master, yes) and rather compelling. The base game is pretty gory but not porny, despite, what everybody likes to say.
Well, it's also impossible to find until the KS ships.

What are some master tips to play Catan? I just played a couple of games, but there is a tournament in my region soon, and I wanted to sign up.

>Carcassone, Blokus
Very yes. Carcassone is not a good 2 player game though, and Blockus is also very good 4 player.

Seconded. Splendor is very fun and simple to learn. Very high strategy elements too.

Pandemic is also excellent. But be wary, while the rules are not complicated, the rulebook is very confusing and poorly formatted. So make sure you read the entire thing and try to play a game with just yourself before you introduce people to it.

Noooooooooo. Agricola is one of the worst games to try to get people into board game with. Its super complicated, takes forever to set up, and takes even longer to play.

Its kinda true. The game is almost completely luck based, and the parts that are not are about fucking over the other players.

Learn to cheat at dice? And card counting. The game basically doesnt have any strategy in it.

Not to mention it still costs 400 gorillion dollareydoos

Most of the game is decided by the starting positions.

Yeah, that too.
