I have no idea why I should care about these people.

Also, holy shit, did they just use the word "salty"? That's pretty radical, dawg.

Has Rick investment in them? Or are they there just to pander the huge GitP LGBT community?

Jesus Christ, it's obvious he just doesn't give a shit any more.

too many words in your post, could you shorten it?

words words words

He's not the only one.

Honestly I didn't even notice. It didn't seem out of place to me. Quick google search says that it actually dates back to the 30's and originated as sailor slang anyway, so turns out the millennial was you.

What the fug? For a guy as wordy as I've heard he is, why are there typos?
Also, he was doing this since I was in highschool, surely by now he would have a grasp of pacing dialogue, even if there's a lot. But I have no fucking clue.

Also why are all the hands euros?

The new artwork was a mistake.

These new characters are a mistake.

These convoluted as fuck plots are a mistake.

I miss the old comfy dungeon crawling webcomic anons.

Same.

It feels like the comic has gotten steadily worse past the siege of azure city and when shit got supremely slow.

I don't care about any of these people.

I have no idea why any of this is happening. The update schedule is so slow and the events happening now are so removed from the parts of the plot that I'm interested in that I forget that this comic exists the vast majority of the time. It's been a LONG time since this comic was on my RSS feed reader.

Is the new artwork eating so much time?

If the Foglios can crank out three comics a week (whether or not you care for their artstyle, you can't argue that it takes LESS effort than OOTS does) there's no way it should take multiple weeks per OOTS comic.

Ok, History lesson time: back in 2003 Wizards of the Coast held a contest to decide the next canonical setting for D&D. The top two spots were held by Keith Baker, Rich Burlew. In the end Keith Baker's Everyone was chosen, while Rich Burlew's setting was claimed by Wizard's and stuffed into their vault somewhere, in case they ever needed it. This is widely regarded as the point when Keith became a full-fledged board and rpg designer, and quit his job as a game programmer, as well as the point where Rich started creating OOTS.

In an alternate timeline we would see Burlew's setting as Canon, and Keith would've gone on to make a kickass Vidya.

Discuss.

I don't know I kinda like Eberron as a setting and having Rich reduce to make webcomics for a living seems inoffensive enough. Speaking about Baker what was he done recently?

Does anyone know anything about rich's setting

...

Kekkerino, mon frère.

How soon is it to ending?

> OOTS
> ending

Ha ha ha ha ahahahaha... That was a good one, user.

DnD 8e will be finishing it's life cycle around at the same time.

What about the snarl plot at least?

It'll end when its word count exceeds that of homestuck.

The snarl plot literally IS the plot, man. That's like asking if LOTR will end when the "Eru Illuvatar plot ends".

Good news! They're approaching the final gate. Bad news! Snarl plot started twelve years ago, and they've handled two gates in this timeframe.
>Twelve
>Years

>12 years of snarl
Holy fuck. That, uh.
Yeah, I don't really have a good response to that.
Has he ever written another setting, or is his life basically the OOTS now?

And I meant in addition to the one mentioned .

Then it should have ended months ago.

That was probably around the point where he realised he could make a living adding speech bubbles to stick figures I'd guess.

I mean, let's face it, if you could, you would.

I think he's stuck in the dilemma that ensnares a lot of successful creative types: he doesn't want to do this anymore, but fears that his audience won't accept anything else.

Quoted for truth.

And facepalm.

Because it's easy to draw lots of characters as stick figures, or a step above stick figures. I imagine most of the hold-up is either in writing the pages, or in making sure that all of the back stuff that he owes people from when he injured his thumb gets done.

The art style has evolved as the strip has gone on, but it has stayed very simple and easy to draw.

There's very little that we can speculate, since he's not supposed to talk about it. If I remember other discussions correctly though, Rich's setting designs may have been responsible for the addition of Swift actions.

From what little I've heard about it I believe the setting was supposed to be the original Homeworld of the Githyanki and Githzerai, but thats just a rumor.

>"lol i drew it bad on purpose :)" the comic

>"Now look who's the captain"
>"You're not"

kek

I loved the desert part, lots of stuff happened but I just loathe these cunts.

He says he doesn't want oots to extend past 1500 pages. We have about ~400 left.

I haven't cared about this comic in a decade.

You cared enough to post.

What the fuck does that mean? That's a pretty big claim.

...

I cared enough to shitpost.

Making Card games.

He made all those Gloom games, where the point is to make your characters the saddest when they die?

He's been doing that for 12 years now.

He just worked on that Betrayal expansion, Widow's Walk.

When author will die.
Or will be too old to write it.

Jesus fucking christ, this is like the Zeno's Paradox of webcomics. Every year it covers half as much plot.

I just want to remind everyone that they STARTED this little airship tour in 2013 and left the meeting with the gods thing in early 2016.

I stopped reading immediately after the time Durkon became a vampire.

Not consciously, but I found it a struggle to parse all the fucking text and eventually just stopped reading it.

holy shit, one page each month to spent on literally whos that no one cares about

why is burlew such a chris-chan tier lazy faggot?

I love oots, there was some great moments, like darth V, durkula, final showdown against tarkin... but it's getting harder and harder to care

What kills me is that they know full well Belkar is an utter psychopath, they don't know Roy well enough to know he wouldn't flip his shit when he finds out what happened, but do know he's an incredibly dangerous adventurer.
They know that a powerful wizard and archer are casually flying about very close by, and again they don't know their character well enough to know how they'd react to this.
They know their previous captain's apprentice in board, and that he specialises in making things into a dramatic narrative and then taking advantage of that.
They know that running is going to throw at least three of them to the wolves, it know they're powerful enough that it's not a dead cert for them to die from it.

And their master plan is to betray these people? With two of them on board, no less?

>Zeno's Paradox of webcomics.
Stop, my sides can't take this.

They're not a smart crew.

Trump voters

Can I deliver a hand crafted (you) and just pretend we had the thread derail in return?

>Zeno's Paradox of webcomics

Berserk of webcomics?

I still love this comic, but I agree there simply isn't a reason to shift so much of the art out of the comic and into the paywalled stuff. The comic should come first.

It means what it says. I heard a rumor that it was Rich who had proposed the idea of Swift actions into the game as part of his own setting.

Neat, i learned a thing.

God's work, user.

They are litterally swashbuckling pirates. Of course they use salty

Let me introduce you to a little webcomic called Freefall.

When it began, Bill Clinton was still president and the first 100 or so pages now contain ancient fossilised Gore vs. Bush jokes about how long the recount was taking.

Chapter 1 ended last year.

>Whored out webcomic

Reminder that Ghetto Monkeys voted for Obama and Hillary.

Inordinately large chapter size aside, at least Freefall has 18 years worth of content.
OOtS has been going since 2003, and has barely 5 years worth of content.

terrible comic

Berserk cheats by being perpetually on Hiatus.

How about Kevin and Kell. 1 page a day, every day, 365 days a year. Since 1995.

Longest running webcomic. It's basically if you took a furry comic and made it Sunday paper material.

Boy that fight with the giants happening in the background is sure more interesting than wordswordswords

>Since 1995
>If that webcomic were a person it could have been posting for over three years

what? no

berserk is paced ferfectly and most pages have a lot of quality.

problem is that he only brings out one page a month.

if you reread the boat arc you will see it doesnt even take long at all.

Is he still doing three strips?

Yeah, I kinda wish he would stop doing the side projects and just focus on the strip. He puts out fresh content far too slowly for the pace of his writing.

Thing is, though, it's actually good. I pinged the whole series a while ago, and I loved it. I went out and bought the entire book series, and I love how crafty the writing gets at times. It's just that his progress of new strips has slowed to a crawl. He has a reason, of course, given the therapy he had to do, but it's still a bit grating to see a new update sometimes once or twice a month.

Speak of the devil, Burlew just posted on twitter that he's doing a wallpaper for his Kickstarter backers now. Burning the midnight oil, which I can at least respect.

>I love how crafty the writing gets at times.

The character of Tarquin was so disappointing when he went from being a seriously competent and actual threat to a joke of a villain.

Like at this point his entire introduction seemed to only be there to kill off Nale.

And the comic is oversaturated with villains anyway.

He was always a threat, he was never a joke. There was no appearance in which he did not pose a threat to the core cast, and he out-statted everybody but V. His defeat was ignominious, but that was how somebody like him had to be beaten in Elan's eyes.

Good news, you are only six pages behind then.

He was never a joke, he just didn't realize that he was a mid boss instead of the BBEG.

And now OOTS is on an airship. We might be suffering the same fate.

I literally don't even look at the website anymore because every two weeks Veeky Forums makes a thread with the latest update.

It's better that way honestly
