>There's no way Battlefront would be stupid enough to wreck the game with 4th guys, it's fine! >There's no way the Germans would be stupid enough to invade the Soviet Union tovarisch, it's fine! >there's no way the Japs would be stupid enough to bomb Pearl harbor and piss off the Yanks guys, it's fine! >There's no way the Germans would be stupid enough to launch a counterattack through this kind of snow guys, it's fine!
Something something history repeating itself something something I WARNED YOU etc etc.
is the acceptance phase where we buy all of the kits for MW?
Luke Morales
can't wait to see the bargaining phase
David Peterson
I've got much of the first waves already on pre-order desu.
Of course, I can simply go and use the minis for other rulesets if V4 doesn't work out, but I've got good hope.
Kevin Garcia
Better than Disbelief.
Michael Morgan
Pretty much. Or at least playing EW or LW with the new rules.
Bargaining will probably be people trying to convince other players to stick to Version 3. Or trying to convince Battlefront that we need new books with new points values or they're "never playing again!"
Either way, I was just trying to make a vet bad joke about the stages of grief.
Because seriously, coming to these threads lately has felt like attending a funeral.
And I don't say that lightly.
William Edwards
Nah Man I'm hyped up. My King Tigers become vastly more survivable with the major nerf bat to artillery. Volksturm become more useful as holding assets, because now they cost Zero Points to hold on the table, rather than costing a platoon space. Sure they're not as resilient to artillery any more. So life's good. Always Defend might be gone, but I'm still good.
Carson Lopez
>>There's no way the Germans would be stupid enough to invade the Soviet Union tovarisch, it's fine!
It wasn't that much of a bad plan. If they'd taken Moscow (which was hard but not impossible) the whole war would've turned out differently.
Hindsight is 20/20
Lincoln Ross
>with the major nerf bat to artillery And aircraft. Bombs and Rockets are now AT 3. So they're fucking useless at tank hunting now. At least nobody took Typhoons in the first place...
Really, I could understand reducing it to a cap of AT 4, but a cap of AT 3 is just way too damn far.
Hunter Ward
The Germans were never going to take Moscow, and even then it's not guaranteed that would force a soviet surrender.
Asher Bell
I honestly think EVERYTHING should have re-rolled saves on repeat. It doesn't make sense for tanks to just sit in a barrage because lol only 105mm. At some point the crew will have to balance the value of their position vs the ever growing chance of actually being hit. What little I've read on the topic suggests that indirect fire would first blind crews, then force some kind of movement after god knows how long.
Jason Martinez
This is the V4 list I'm playtesting ASAP. Let me explain: >every company is split into its component platoons--for example those 6 Resitas are 3 two-gun units now >the cannon Stukas are like they're in TY but better, so I will always take them >those huge ass field guns are the same fucking cost as the same number of 81mm mortars would be, give or take 5 points >tanks are for babies >Heavy guns are now concealed in foxholes I should note >the Brandts and HMGs can combat attach In missions with reserves I'll have like 6+ units off table, two of which will be core units. Reserve units are counted for company morale, meaning that you literally cannot break me by merely killing everything on the table for many turns. Once the enemy gets tired of running at me I will run at them. There is really no other way to win as a defender now, I have to break them. You have to grapple with all my stupid support units, because as I said you can't win even if you kill all core units that started on the table. I will lose units, the goal is to simply maximize my number of wins as a result.
Juan Wilson
In v4 no point change at all? Even Russian tanks getting discount for dump?
Ryder Cooper
Some of us did take Typhoons, and now suffer even more for it.
Angel Cooper
> take Moscow > a city that made Stalingrad look like a cake walk in terms of defences
Yeah, no.
Jayden Mitchell
What spray can primer should I use on my US models?
I have pattons heroes box.
Does anyone make OD green spray primer?
Ethan Taylor
had to be done, tovarich
i am looking for ways to break Kampgruppe Hummel in the new LW meta....any good ideas? hint: i want most of the points in tanks...
Cameron Moore
Anons, how cheesy is an all Panzer IV Afrika Korps list with a single Tiger and escort Panzer III? I'm new and Flames of War looks pretty interesting.
How does Artillery work?
Brayden Moore
>Taking moscow >when even with all your kraut space magic, you forgot how to into coats >Thinking that the Slavs would just give up their capital when Stalin is right there with the NKVD shooting anyone who runs
The Germans didn't have a hope in hell. They stretched their supply lines way too far and knew it wouldn't work. They were mainly just hoping USSR would give up and cave in, but they didn't. After the joke that was Western Europe, Germans didn't expect to actually have to fight a war for once.
Levi Taylor
According to Battlefront they've already sold out of V4 stuff.
>Stores around the world have been placing orders ahead of time and in record numbers, meaning we’ve already sold everything we have made for the month of the launch. This amount of stock would typically last us for 60 days upon release, however, it proved to be a conservative number despite being based on projections exceeding those of Team Yankee.
So there's that.
Jacob Kelly
>they're trying to sell their monthly "we can't get you your product" as a good thing It's hard for me to think of the last time my store got a BF product on time. Some of the Bulge items were lost in Chicago on a truck for over a month, for example.
Elijah Green
>Grognard's take on Version Phoar
are they trying to be 1337, /tg?/
Anthony Adams
Tamiya does some base-coloured sprays: OD, Dunkelgelb, etc. They're pretty popular locally.
Jacob Mitchell
Not so cheesy, as all pz4 gone the tiger automatically retreat from battlefield and Germans lose and panzer 4 are easliy knocked out like crushed cookies by 6 pdr, provided 2 6pdr crusaders and a 2pdr crusader is still 3 points cheaper than pz4 with long barrel. A tiger with infantry formation and few AT guns are much more survivable, I think, although the list will suffer when it attacks.
Justin Evans
So I mainly play TY, with a little FoW on the side. Is TANKS worth getting into? How does it work? Which nations are in it and do they play the same as FoW?
Aiden Moore
flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=5465 >'Command' Cards >With the new edition of the rules and how to build your army comes a new way to add the color and history to your force. Command Cards will add some extra nuance to the process of designing armies. They will cover a variety of factors including organization, doctrine and equipment which will give historical forces a specific flavor. They will allow a variety of specialty army options which add to the standard formations, as well as just giving you the ability to make some units and leaders a little more veteran than others. They will expand the options available to those players who like the extra detail, without forcing added complexity on those who prefer a more streamlined system in which it is faster to get an army on to the table. >The first command card packs are scheduled to come out after the initial wave of Mid War releases. These packs will be specific to a nation and contain 50+ cards with everything from famous warriors to new objectives to fight over. As you will see below, some of the guys have refered to upcoming command cards in their forces. Although we can’t show you all of the detail now, it is important to understand these cards are coming and will add a new level to the armies within the books. So, seems like Digital-style content (short little extras) but in the form of a box of cards instead of a PDF/Forces list.
Hopefully this is more "Yeah we ran out of room, here's the interesting stuff" than "Gib moneys for minor variants that we couldn't be arsed to include on three pages of a rulebook"
Kevin Roberts
That's basically ripped from Warmahorde's book.
Brandon Bennett
What do you think about this V4 MW German list?
2x HQ Pz 3 uparmored (16pts) 2x Pz3 uparmored & 2x Pz3 short 5cm (26pts) 2x Pz4 short 7.5cm & 1x Pz4 long 7.5cm (22pts) 3x Pz2 (6pts)
So I'm guessing there will be no way to pick 6 MG infantry teams anymore? I'm really enjoying having large amounts of my infantry made useless.
Isaac Hernandez
Yeah, this. They always, always sell way more stuff than they meant to at launch.
Ethan King
>While we are talking about what’s coming, I’ll mention that both the British and the Germans will have more books in the future. There are plans for a British book covering the infantry divisions, so it will have infantry tanks like the Valentine and the Churchill in it, along with rifle companies and all sorts of new equipment. One of the tanks delayed until this book is the American Sherman tank, also used by the British. While it would have been nice to be able to do everything at once, we just couldn’t, so the awesome new plastic Sherman tank kit will come out with the American book. Hooray!
Adam Martinez
>Don't worry guys, all the shit that should have been in this release will come out later!
Sure, they'll shoe-horn tigers into El-Al, but the shermans that actually were there get cut.
Honestly, they should have taken more time and put things together properly rather than do what appears to be another rush job.
Jordan Myers
I'm thinking of getting started with FoW, any recommendations on what I should buy? If possible, give me a list of everything that I should get so I can buy it en bulk and save shipping.
Logan Lee
Let's narrow down some things first. What theatre and time period do you want to play?
Benjamin Fisher
>Expecting AT LEAST a full year's worth of product releases to all come out at once
This is the same company that constantly underestimates the popularity of their own product and never seems to produce enough for their initial production run of any new release.
And you expect them to have items that will cover almost a full year's worth of releases all ready up front while still maintaining production levels for their other product lines?
They're not Games Workshop. They don't have the capacity to do plastic production on that scale.
That's half the reason the East German spam tank for Team Yankee is in resin, Because they didn't have the plastic production capability to do their new Mid War plastics and do any other new plastic kits for other eras at the same time.
And yet by taking things slow, and planning out their production and release schedule, they ironically get labeled as doing a "rush job".
Jaxson Thompson
Late I guess? I don't really mind, just whatever that will give me the most play time. What I mostly want is, as a complete noob, a list of what I should buy to get started and have enough of an extra amount of units to have some variety and options for games.
Jackson Clark
There really isn't one good all encompassing "Buy This" answer.
It really depends on what you are looking to play.
Late War seems to be the most popular era in many areas, so that's probably a safe bet.
After that you'll need to decide which nation you want to play as. The United States and Germany are typically good choices for beginners. Great Britain and the Soviet Union are slightly more challenging to learn to play as, but can be fun once you do.
Almost as important as what nation you choose to play as, is what kind of force you want to play. Your main choices are typically infantry, mechanized infantry(with half tracks), or tanks, although there are also more specialized forces such as commandos, paratroopers, and fortified positions. Each is suited to a different play style.
Bentley Garcia
>They're not Games Workshop. They don't have the capacity to do plastic production on that scale. This isn't the problem. The problem is there's Tigers at El Alamein but not Shermans, because they chose to make a Tiger kit instead of a Sherman one. They're doing a half-assed job since Volksarmee apparently showed that people don't care when they do that.
Bentley Evans
They already had a Tiger kit. Built with both Mid and Late War, as well as the TANKS game, in mind.
It was already done and complete months ago.
Is it at all historical for El Alamein? No.
But where does it say that the Afrika Korps book is specifically about El Alamein?
Only the new starter set, which doesn't even include a Tiger, is called El Alamein.
As for the Sherman, I'm not sure if either of the existing plastic kits, the US or British LW ones, are correct for Mid War, but as they have stated, the Shermans are coming.
Jack Rodriguez
>Volksarmee apparently showed that people don't care when they do that (a half-assed job)
How so?
People have been complaining about Volksarmee quite a bit.
Spam tanks in resin, the T-55 being a shitty spam tank at all, the T-55 not having a gun-launched guided missile, getting yet another faceless communist horde faction, etc.
People have been complaining pretty loudly about Volksarmee.
Ethan Ortiz
Everyone's mad about the resin tanks in particular, in almost every NVA thread someone will flout the rules and mention the PSC release.
Michael Edwards
RIP
Adam Rogers
Right, which means that people DO care that Battlefront dropped the ball where Volksarmee is concerned.
Especially if people are blatantly breaking the forum and Facebook page rules to talk about Plastic Soldier Company's T-55s.
Bentley Torres
When WWPD begins having misgivings, you know something's fucked up.
Honestly, I feel that people here are panicking a bit too much as well as making some unfounded assumptions.
Yes, I do agree that a lot of units in Mid War not getting stats right away is a waste. However, I can understand this from the perspective of rebuilding MW from the ground up after not doing anything with it for more than an entire edition. I just wish we had at least some get-you-by lists there, but BF doesn't have unlimited manpower to get that done either.
However, some of the other whining here is way overblown. >These changes without updating the points costs will utterly wreck balance. These changes do less than most 40k edition changes, which also preserve points values. I'd say we're probably fine here. And if something does turn out to be horribly broken, I'm expecting BF to patch it reasonably quickly. >Muh tigers at El Alamein Afrika Korps covers all of the North Africa campaign in Mid War, including the bits in Tunisia. It makes sense to include the most iconic German tank of the war, especially if the plastic kit is already designed. IIRC, the 17/25 pounder wasn't around for El Alamein either, but I don't hear whining about that one.
Thomas Bailey
>IIRC, the 17/25 pounder wasn't around for El Alamein either, but I don't hear whining about that one. Probably because it's blatantly only included so that the brits have a way to kill tigers, since the 6pdr got nerfed (and the stats are ahistorically awful. Really, same AT as the Pak 40 ammo using 7.62cm?)
Julian Peterson
>making some unfounded assumptions >on the internet
That's kinda par for the course.
Get some half-accurate "facts", blow everything out of proportion, and then claim it's absolutely horrible and will ruin everything.
It's like you don't understand how the internet works.
Jose Murphy
I adore the Berlin Kampfgruppe list for LW for the sheer variety in troops and options it allows you to field.
Are there any other lists that have such open ended construction to them, particularly in EW or MW?
I love the idea of forces that utilize everything and the kitchen sink, also desperate militia-type forces. Do you think we'll ever see Belgian or China EW lists?
Luis Jenkins
The Open Fire box on ebay or amazon is a great start for Germans, and a reasonable start for the western allies.
Wyatt Baker
Yeah, you can't do much better than the open fire box for getting started as the Germans. It gives you 3 StuG III's , lots of grenadiers and 2 PAK 40s. You could easily add on a couple other plastic boxes of tanks and have a list ready to go.
Dominic Flores
"Everything and the kitchen sink" is mostly a Late War thing, especially for the Germans in the Desperate Measures and Berlin books.
Although there are some cases of that with the Americans as well. They get access to a scrap yard tank platoon in the Battle of the Bulge book where you can field a mix-up of various hastily repaired vehicles.
Henry Thomas
I just want to know what the isu152 did to deserve the treatment its getting in v4
Points the same Rof0 on the move Gun goes to Reroll save instead of no save
Why would you ever take a 152 when you can have 122s
There will be heaps of units that never see the light of day thanks to new rules old points
i did see the bit on the main site about possibly doing a recon force w an expansion card (oh joy, i have to card now), but other than that, i think the day of the mono-build is fast approaching.
new releases will only create more monobuild...
Jackson Smith
>Expecting AT LEAST a full year's worth of product Updated unit listings, oy vey. Have some more wehraboo kool-aid. They released half a handful of lists, and tell us to wait for anything remotely close to usefully diverse in selection, you know, so people can properly support and show off the new edition.
Jordan Adams
Grenadier and some artillery HQ.
Andrew King
Should we tell him about the spotters and staff teams?
Brayden Martinez
Don't be so cruel, David!
Kevin Mitchell
Something wrong with them? I thought I built them correctly.
Asher Perry
user, I... we're so sorry.
Chase Scott
In V4 staff teams, gun platoon command teams and all but one observer per force have been removed.
They look great though, BF or PSC infantry?
Anthony Martinez
They're gonna get erased with V4 Cheers.
Liam Robinson
Grenadiers are from PSC, and staff team is from BF. Other teams are mixed of PSC and BF. Well, I don't know what should I say about it.
Connor Perez
Mein Fuhrer
Mein Fuhrer... they are getting rid of HQ teams for artillery and at guns in V4.
William Hughes
...
Lincoln Bell
I looked over the V4 rules and Hen and Chicks now gives a +1 to hit with main guns if any tank moves. No mention of reducing ROF for the stationary tonks.
Lincoln Ramirez
For what it's worth, I'm the first user, and they look sweet, but I weep for you.
Josiah Rivera
>implying anybody is gonna use that shitshow over v3
Jordan Garcia
Also THIS BOOK IS EXTREMELY CONFUSING. Stationary infantry don't block fire, but this fact is buried in an aside for a completely different rule. I cannot find any other mention of this important fact.
Elijah Ross
Am I only one thinking East Germany emblem looks like McDonald's?
Owen Kelly
I needed a little modeling project, so I asked one of the local germans if I could borrow one of his Panzer IIIs and make a detachable Bergpanzer platform for it. I think I did ok, given how slopy the RL ones looked. Unlike all the models I've seen, which looked to be based off some ideal factory plans instead of the fairly improvised layouts I saw in pictures.
Brody Brooks
we need to know everything about V4 Hen & Chicks
this IS Veeky Forums after all....
Zachary Morgan
What does it do to glorious soviet machine gun comrade?
Ian Reed
Not him but H&C does nothing to machine guns in V4. WWPD was full of shit (as per usual) when they said it affected MGs.
Jaxon Sanders
>WWPD was full of shit (as per usual) when they said it affected MGs. Or possibly they got an early draft of the rules. There's differences between the leaked half-done ElAlamein rulebook and the summary sheets people have posted from the V3->V4 conversion books, so it wouldn't surprise me to find they got an early copy and BF did some tweaks.
Jeremiah Reyes
Ssshhh...
It's more fun to pretend that the semi-official podcast that serves as Battlefront's mouthpiece was completely full of shit, or just god-awful at actually interpreting the advanced copy of the rules that they received.
Connor Torres
Cyka blyat
I was worried for a moment..
Cooper Stewart
Goddamnit now I can't unsee it.
Juan Sanders
Fucking No Guts No Galaxy
'Affiliated' podcasts are suuuuuper toxic to communities in my experience. In the case of Mechwarrior Online they're essentially contracted employees with the appearance of independence. Echochambers for their own little fanbase, sniping at other groups and quashing completely valid criticism.
WWPD was really solid for a while there, I'm sure being bored of FoW wasn't the only reason Steven moved on to Armada. Something about working directly for Battlefront must have been pretty disillusioning.
Easton Russell
For a bit of a change in topic, here's my most recently painted unit. Should give me a nice starting infantry option to field for my TY Soviets.
Next up on the painting list: the vehicle bits you can see up top and a pair of panzerfaust SMG teams for my WW2 Soviets. I might add the second minimum-sized Motor Rifle platoon I have as well, plus the comany HQ team. That would mean I only need to get a second unit of BMPs to field an infantry formation or a second pair of Hinds for an Afghantsy formation.
Matthew Edwards
PSC just posted on facebook that many of their products will be increased in price starting on March 1st.
Get your goodies while you can, I guess.
Dominic Cooper
did they say by how much? I was waiting for their 25% off sale
Luke Sullivan
They gave a 1/72 example in pounds, and that was as a "price per vehicle" thing. At the very least they're also raising Zvezda kit prices by 50 pence since Zvezda themselves are also raising prices.
Cameron Mitchell
curse all those remoaners interfering with the plastic toy supply etc etc
Gabriel Murphy
Looks like 2-5% across the board. I expect they're taking a big revenue hit, given how gentle the price rise is compared to the drop in pound, but maybe their sales are mostly internal.
Connor Torres
Is there a way to find out what units are found in what book? I really want to play crocodiles (sherman or churchill), but I dont want to search throught every book.
Adam Phillips
When does PSC usually have their sales?
James Wood
Use fowlists and search for British Armored for shermans or British Rifle for Churchill and Crocodiles The main brit books you can search in are Overlord and Market Garden, there's stuff in Road to Rome and Nachtjager (means night hunter) but it's more "special" kind of lists.
Jacob Foster
If you have a Forces Of War account (signing up is free), you can search by item and get a listing of all platoons and forces that thing can be used in.
Daniel Phillips
its called google you massive faggot kys
Lucas Williams
samefag
Jonathan Martin
Bumping with the pain of playing the Volksarmee.
Josiah Sanchez
As someone who briefly played 2nd edition (US Infantry, LW, Normandy), is there any sort of changelist for most books, or do we have to wait for everything to be released again, with the only forces being brits and krauts for Africa for now? Any idea when US book for Africa will drop, since neither me nor my new group want to play the bong side?
Tyler Gray
There are books that let you play V4 in EW and LW with the appropriate V3 army books. As for V4 in MW your fucked... at least for a while if you don't want to play the vanilla Bong and Wehraboo lists. Though the US and Italians along with unit cards adding more for the British (and maybe Germans?) will be on their way after this first release period. Meanwhile I'love be dying of old age before we get the Eastern Front.
Jordan Ward
Next wave for US in Mid War will be July. GF9 spoiled it with their preorders
Elijah Ramirez
I wonder if the Honey box will build the Stuart and if the Grant box will build the Lee.
Henry Kelly
The Honey is just a name the crew gave them, they're basic M3 and M3A1 stuarts.
