>Guard of the Crimson King was a mistake but are TSons really as OP as they look? Yes.
Nolan Perry
First for psychic powers and sorcery are the same thing.
Tyler Mitchell
Most of them are fine. Sekhmets are undercosted, Guard of the Crimson King and The Crimson King are both fucking dumb.
Guard is fine when you are not abusing Magnus/Sekhmet spam though.
Jack Cruz
Psychic powers is stealing the warp and fire it at people in the form of mind bullets. Sourcery is getting daemons to do it for you.
Dominic Edwards
Since we had some mention of acceptable counts-as models last thread, what do you think of using pic related as a quad mortar?
I'm not an admechfag in 40k but fucking love those models, not to mention the price
Chase Sanders
plastic admech models look like shit
Daniel Ramirez
It's kinda like atomic energy : inherently dangerous, atomic bombs are a fucking nightmare, but a atomic powerplant can provide whole cities of power for a very long time for very little.
Angel Torres
As both an Admech and Mechanicus player.
Hell the fuck no.
The size is off, the Torsion cannon doesn't even look like a single mortar, let alone a Quad mortar.
Remember that the guns have crew, so you're going to have 2 crew standing behind a big servitor with no visible purpose.
If you're going to be cheap about Quad mortars, just buy some cheapo artillery from a third party that look vaguely like a mortar.
Jacob Fisher
>Skitarii Rangers >Vanguard >Infiltrators
Ho you've gotta be crazy, they're a fantastic line of models
Even the Bustyphrons look pretty cool, few things still manage to capture the overdone and old school Blanchian look better than the Admech
Hunter Harris
what are the best sources of 30k battle reports?
Dylan Wright
But atomic power isn't ACTIVELY trying to kill you, it's just ambiently dangerous.
Warp energy is dangerous when handled incorrectly AND is constantly trying to corrupt you and steal your soul.
Nolan Price
The tracked servitors and the beep boops look silly and out of place respectively, but the basic techpriests and skitarii look great. I wish they had skitarii in 30k.
Gabriel Roberts
*COUGH*Titan Guard*COUGH*
Jacob Hernandez
Look, it is the best thing I could come up with to compare with using the warp, because irl we don't really have had beings from an alternate dimension breaking in and trying to eat everybody alright.
Aiden Hernandez
I don't have Titans though. And Forge Worlds do have a non-Titan population in-between mindless automatons and thousand-year old techwizards, don't they?
William Campbell
well if Rune Priests are anything like runesmiths in fantasy then by trapping magic/warp power in objects it becomes pretty benign. Also Rune Priests are very stubborn and ritualized meaning that after cneturies of practising they won't develop or learn meaning they aren't tempted by power and won't stumble on darker secrets.
The thousand sons pre heresy did similar things to limit the dangers though like the enumerations, meditation and disembodiment. I think they were fairly well controlled until they were faced with total annihilation. What legion wouldn't go totally over the top faced with such a fate?
Ethan Moore
Winters SEO does some shiny ones with his Mechanicum and now he has Sons of Horus too. Geeks40k do some, and there's the new"the30kchannel" which is good if you like them long-form.
MWG has a couple of good ones but they're mostly subpar, apart from that Mitch chap who occasionally brings interesting lists along and is a good sport.
Michael Jones
All shit. FW got the Mechanicum aesthetic just right while GW failed big time.
Luis Ward
You don't need Titans to run Titan Guard (Otherwise known as Secutarii)
They are non-compulsory troops in any Mechanicum list (Unless you have a Titan in which case they can be compulsory troops.
They even have a HQ.
Aiden James
Yeah, of course. You don't need a Titan to use Titan Guard, they're still just fine without one even if FnP 5+ Rerollable is really damn good. You can use the 40k Vanguard models too, since Radium Carbines is a legit loadout, trading range for damage.
Xavier Moore
Any company make pieces to make MkII Phobos style hull HBs for a Land Raider? Chapterhouse sells one with full sponsons (don't need the sponsons) and FW kits come with the whole Land Raider (already got the hull for it). Or any good guides achieve similar things?
John Martinez
>Ritualized means they wont be tempted by power
VibratingSmugDarkMechanicumMagos.gif
And I'm pretty sure the Tau commander Farsight is being actively influenced by a Daemon blade.
Jace Fisher
Yeah, "TSons doing sorcery was what doomed them" is bullshit. They got fucked because combined fuck ups of Magnus, Russ, Valdor and Emperor leading to assault on Prospero and Magnus damning them to save them from Wolves. Fact that they were psykers only mattered insofar that Russ disliked them/Tzeentch wanted them out of picture.
>Etherals are controlled by Tzeentch >Farsight is Khorne fucking with Tzeentch's plans
Liam Martinez
Look, it's ok to like FW stuff, but just ignoring where GW does well established style justice, is just being an idiot.
Jack Anderson
Citadel admech is Jes Goodwin admech FW admech is Will Rees admech
Neither are fully John Blanche.
Hudson Butler
Also Horus probably targeted them one because the distrust of psykers was the only rift he could exploit in the legions and two he knew that they'd be closest to the truth of his heresy and would probably be capable of stopping him or exposing chaos.
Jacob Ross
When modelling Hetaeron guards for custodes, would it be acceptable to use the Sentinel Warblade with some light modifications to make it count as a Paragon blade? What should be done to it?
Also, which power fists would fit them best to count as Solarite Power Gauntlets?
Mason Parker
>GW does well established style justice By making models that look like they're from a saturday morning cartoon? Ok.
Aiden Thompson
Sekhmet would be undercosted as fuck even if they didn't have two fucking wounds, the sheer power and flexibilty of their legion rules is insane, Blade Cult is probably the best power-armored unit in the game, the disadvantages of Guard are negligible and all their characters are amazingly good.
Christopher Edwards
>[strawmaning intensified]
0000000000/1111111110
Lucas Morgan
>Neither are fully John Blanche.
Nothing will ever be...
Luke Lewis
>Blade Cult is probably the best power-armored unit in the game They are slow while needing to charge, squishy while needing full unit, rely on a lucky roll to be truly strong and are not that good against 2+/vehicles.
I think that they are balanced specialist unit.
Thomas Thomas
>Guard is fine when you are not abusing Magnus/Sekhmet spam though. So, it's Guard of the Crimson King is fine when you're actively trying to not Guard of the Crimson King too hard. Sekhmets should have witchpowers and their termie equipment and be done with it, not have 2W on top of it.
Nathan Kelly
GW AdMech models look like some third-party knockoffs. FW Mechanicum looks like the real deal. In the last 10 years or so GWs model design has gone down the drain hard.
Tyler Reyes
As a TS player it actually makes me mad a bit how fucking cost effective Sekhmet are. I love the profile, and if you upped the cost I'd still play them, but as it stands there is basically no reason to bring generic termies in a TS list (GotCK or not) unless you REALLY want the heavy weapons or maybe volkite termies or something.
And I love the idea of volkite termies
Aiden Nguyen
I think that it goes beyond that. They are just sold unit. They are really tanky with base 2w3(4)++, really mobile with Levitation and free deepstrike in GotCK, decently chopy with force axes and cheap power/chainfists, decently shooty with cheap plasma and then they get another psychic power, Stuborn and two charges as well.
On top of which, they are also cheap. Like, there is no downsides to them.
David Jenkins
Exactly. I mean, they're so good base you can easily do whatever the fuck you want with what gear and cult you give them and it'll be hard to have a bad unit. They're as durable as IF SS termies, while being shootier and potentially even punchier, PLUS they have ML2 which can do anything from make them punchier, give them more shooting, make them faster, more durable, etc.
And thusly I have decided to run Brethren of Iron because of that one time the Pyrae guy brought a bunch of beep beps to Shrike in A Thousand Sons.
Also because I like boops.
Charles Fisher
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, especially with that choice in image.
destructors look like the terrible shit people like scibor have been pumping out for years
Lucas Phillips
That's good to hear. I like the idea of tech-priests who aren't so ancient and arcane as to not have any peers, and the idea of Forge Worlds who like their soldiers to have independent intelligence and not rely entirely on programming.
Liam Morgan
Would've Russ have listened if Magnus called surrender and asked to be presented in front of big E?
Eli Richardson
Speaking of TS and AdMech, how are those new Castellax? They seem really strong in melee, but they are also really immobile. I'm guessing that getting a plasma cannon and then guarding something while chucking shoots down the table is the play?
Nathan Smith
I doubt it, since he was literally there to kill Magnus. because Horus told him to do it
Levi Scott
The entire Horus Heresy was an extravagent ploy by Tzeentch to seal his "ur soul is now mine xd" deal with Magnus. Discuss. >Magnus never would have turned to Tzeentch if Prospero wouldn't have burned >Russ wouldn't have burned if Horus never told him to >Horus never would have told him to if he didn't suspect Magnus knew of his betrayal >Horus never would have betrayed the Imperium if he wasn't corrupted by Chaos >Chaos never would have corrupted Horus if it hadn't already corrupted Lorgar and the WB >The WB never would have been corrupted if Monarchia never happened >Monarchia never would have happened if Lorgar wasn't a religious cunt >Lorgar wouldn't have been a religious cunt if he didn't grow up on Colchis >Lorgar wouldn't have grown up on Colchis if the Chaos Gods hadn't S U C C ed the primarches into the warp >The Primarchs wouldn't have been made without the Chaos Gods help >Tzeentch (or at least the portion of Tzeentch that is Fateweaver) can see the future, and so could have seen that, if he did all this, he'd have an incredibly potent mortal servent
Brandon Brown
Vanguards are sexy, but generally I agree the AdMech/Skitarii line could have been less cartoony and more 'cybernetic-abomination'.
Asher Price
In what ways?
Jayden Miller
I dunno, it seems it'd be a lot easier to just take baby Magnus home than scatter the inphant primarchs across the stars in hopes it will somehow spark a galactic civil war that eventually leads to one guy following me.
Then again, over complicated and seemingly pointless is right up Tzeentch's alley
Zachary Harris
I agree to an extent, I think they're some of the best models from GW in years (aside from Slambo, of course) but certain bits are just a little too cartoony.
Don't get me wrong, over the top unrealness os exactly why I love warhammer, but something more menacing, or that just looks like that Blanch-style... wrongness is definitely preferable.
Take the Infiltrators for example, they look way too pit droidish and not posthuman gritty enough. But that's just my opinion, I think stuff like the Dominus, Ruststalkers, and Kataphrons nailed it. But a blend between Skitarii and Tech-Thralls would be sex beyond imagination
Caleb Walker
>Take the Infiltrators for example, they look way too pit droidish and not posthuman gritty enough. I agree. They would be more menacing without robes disguising how warped their frames ar, and with a head that made them look human beneath it all, like the basic techpriests and skitarii do. They have the opportunity to make spooky-looking heads for them that are brains inside metal skulls with wires everywhere, but instead they make it look like a droid from star wars.
Eli Perry
What would represent Prosperine Spire Guard better: Solar Auxilia, Militia Cults or a mix?
Camden Lopez
One vote for Militia. Specially because SA infantry only carry lasguns, axes, or volkites.
Hunter Jackson
I'd reckon good ol' Warrior Elite + Survivors of the Dark Age.
Thomas Perry
I'm kind of taking a liking to the iron warriors, but I'm not too hot about the paint scheme. Anybody have a good alternate scheme that's more than just "drybursh silver, add hazard stripes"?
William Long
You could try swapping the relationship between the silver and the gold? Or you could put more black into it than normal, basically have them be black with silver and gold trimming, rather than silver with black and gold trimming.
Brody King
Finished my primus medicae.
Luis Johnson
I think I'm getting better at freehanding, I used to be super scared to do it.
Joseph Bennett
Good freehand, especially on the right. Nice model too. Where did the vents on the back come from? They really make it work.
Jason Jenkins
That you know of
Jackson Williams
it's a grave warden torso with standard cataphractii legs.
Eli Davis
Looks good anyway. What are you using the GW legs for?
Grayson Barnes
My next model will be a chaplain (probably) with warden legs and justaerin torso.
Christian Robinson
Sounds like a great opportunity for third party bits
Wyatt Morris
I'd have liked to see more exposed flesh crudely connected to augmentations.
Skitarii in various novels are described as quite barbaric or tribal in appearance, I'd have liked to see something closer to catachans or chaos marauders, with cybernetics and weapons permanantly grafted to their bodies.
I think the full suits and robes look detracts from this a bit. If you replaced the Skitarii's robo-legs, you could pass them off as advanced Imperial Guard, they don't look very augmented. Exposed heads with antenna and visors bolted into the flesh would have been better, imo.
Jordan Davis
Good. Blanche looks like shit in 3D.
Brandon Ortiz
Don't you mean Thanatars? >Named after Thanatos, the god of good and peaceful deaths >Dying to a wave of cover-rerolling plasma is a peaceful death for the Mechanicum
Grayson Reyes
guys, my friend is starting sons of horus. what Row would best go with them? the SOH specific ones tend to be redundant if you go special character heavy, which as big fluff nerds we usually build are armies that way, so is there a generic one thatd go well with it?
Kayden Gray
no, the psychic soulblaze plasma castellax
William Nguyen
Darker base color?
Gavin Adams
lil legends models are too shiny no matter what they are
Noah White
Anything Drop Pods.
Orbital Assault, Angel's Wrath, and even Drop Assault Vanguard all do well at dumping into enemy territory and getting everything ready for massive attacks turn 2-3.
Remember SoH rules are very situational, so take advantage of where to use them and you'll find it's insanely hard to beat. The one downside is if rolls don't go your way it's just a shooting gallery as your forces slowly trickle in, ultimately getting wiped turn 3-4
Jack Cook
2/10 not tabletop standard.
Angel Garcia
UM for my diorama. It's still WIP.
Isaiah Sanders
The guy's nuts in the best possible way. He's joined the Age of Darkness podcast and I like his contributions there too.
Hunter Harris
yes they are very well painted but I just don't like the shininess
Nathan Taylor
Blanche's art is good simply as inspiration. I wouldn't want them to actually model shit accurately to his art though.
Viable concept art it ain't.
Luis White
Extreme color modulation. I don't like it either. But to each their own.
Julian Reed
>assault nipples TRIGGERED
Landon Green
thanks for the advice.
Blake Carter
>be sanguinius >go in to solo Horus despite knowing you'll fail >get killed for nothing
??????
Christopher Rodriguez
It's implied he thought he could still convince Horus to go back.
Jayden Roberts
I love that chest decal, even though there is paint on one edge.
Anthony Nguyen
Started on the Sekhmet termies before the force swords arrive. Didn't realise how deep the heads fit into the carapace, decided to paint them separately. Had to convert the combi-weapon melta.
Liam Turner
No, he merely stumbled upon Horus. Must I remind you Sanguinius, Dorn, the Emperor and their respective elite guards deepstruck together but the Vengeful Spirit scrambled them upon entry?
Adam Smith
Sekhmets in Tartaros? Glad you're not a 2W3++ user
William Hall
Why didn't they teleport a bomb aboard?
Alexander Price
Scrambled on entry.
Both sides thought they could persuade the other.
>you being that much of an idiot.
Ryder Turner
Cataphractii doesn't really suit them since it is more Roman inspired than egyptian, whilst tartaros looks like a scarab bettle and has smooth monumetal legs like a statue.
Sebastian Wood
Because Warhammer teleportation follows reverse rules of Terminator's time traveling rules. You can't transport inorganics unless they have fleshy insides >I'm a terminator. A tactical dreadnought armour exoskeleton with a posthuman endoskeleton. I feel no fear. I feel no remorse. I cannot be reasoned with. I cannot be bargained with. My mission is to find my target. That's what I do. That's all I do >THERE YOU ARE! Shutting down...
Luke Young
Not kickass enough for 40k. Now, the question "Why didn't the Emperor simply pilot Terra into the Vengeful Spirit" makes more sense.
Christopher Bennett
>+1W, ML2(Brotherhood), a force weapon and shredding bolters cost +5pts over additional termies, while extra Tyrants cost +50pts each Disregard that, I'm triggered still.
Ian Bell
>Why didn't the Emperor simply pilot Terra into the Vengeful Spirit Because Mortarion's ship was already ramming the planet, pinning it in place.
Nathaniel Edwards
Fucking Morty, if only Autek was there, we could have piloted Luna into the Vengeful Spirit.
Isaiah Long
In Fear To Tread Sanguinius has a premonition of the Emperor fighting Horus without Sang softening Horus up first. Horus won.
Christian Foster
I feel there has to be a connection between Autek's attack moon, the Battle of Rust and Ork attack moons. Maybe they both draw from Orkane lore?
Isaiah Evans
do terminator marines even give a shit about nukes going off if its not right in their face?
how much force does a nuke really have to tear hardened things apart with just its blast wave? knocking down shitty civilian houses isnt the same as hitting military structures
granted the ship would have been fucked but going there personally gave emps the change to whip horus from the entire time continuum with mind bullets
also because of the circumstances both parties guessed they wanted to meet face to face. horus dropped the shields on purpose because he knew Big E would come instead of just teleporting bombs
Gabriel Rogers
AoS is good.
Asher Sullivan
>going on the internet and telling lies WhatDoYouHopeToGain.jpg
Justin White
Where's the needle pistol?
Mason Lewis
it's essentially just 7th ed 40k, personally I think both are pretty bad but WHFB was a lot worse.
Benjamin Mitchell
>angle 5 dogs at 45 degrees Much tactics, very intellectual, wow.
