Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games. Kickstarter is happening NOW we are kicking ass baby!

Call of the Void: Ballad of the Laser Whales is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

MEGA folder containing current version of the game and all supplementary materials.
Note that the latest version of the game is v1.9.9 but with additional supplements. It's NOT what's currently on Opaque's website, because Jimmy is Jimmy.

FUCK reverse hammers
It's because reverse hammers are so weak that everyone and their dog takes reverse spikes for every swing slot add-on, and reverse spikes give everyone the OP hook maneuver. Reverse hammers should be less crap and also nerf hook.

The only thing they really miss out on is hook, as most armors have worse AVB than AVP, and they have that delicious shock.

Nope. You said words that sound pretty but they're not really true. The shock is not meaningful since most weapon with swing slots have shock anyway. Hook is OP so no one things twice about getting a spike.

Did someone new offer a lore spot? Or is this just for fun?

Yeah whats the prize?

The prize is fun.

>Allowing Oricalcum and Silversteel but only up to their limit. I think we are going to see some fine Armor hoboing This time around

poorfag homeowners need not apply

Turtles and Snails only

How do you quantify the fun to give though?
Are you going to donate the fun to my account, or do you hire the fun to strip at my house?

She looks forward to bullying you

Alternative name for that should be "Tall 2 Women vs Short 2 men"

Oi cunt, you fucked up the reddit link. I don't know how to use anything but Veeky Forums, so now what do I do?

Is she a soft shade of brown too?

Q&A When?
Also shafts(wooden, weapons), should probably be a bit harder to destroy? Like, have you ever tried hacking into a proper shaft with a sword?

I want options for metal shafts.

I've always figured fine forging represents langets and the like.

Obviously

Jimmy's LLC video is actually legit the funniest thing I've seen in a while. The idea of analyzing crazy shit that happens in Kojima games from a legal perspective is funny as hell.

Yay!
Jammu had my first ever KS pledge.

>less than $500 to the next stretch goal
Opaque are going to be staring down the barrel of that mystery stretch goal before they've even announced what it it.

You're right let me withdraw my $300.

Did the Byzantines ever start wearing plate? If not, why not?

Expensive to all shit, slow to make, and not particularly more useful at the time, most weapons couldn't do shit against byzantine heavy armor anyway so why double your expenses for a mediocre gain? Same reason why segmentata went out of style. Also by the end of it all they were relying heavily on mercenaries too.

Not going to lie, I'm pretty autistically happy that my autistic question about honey was referenced in the latest Kickstarter update.

Also, is this what one of the Kaselreich Burdinadin would look like?

>iconic waifus gone in under 24 hours
Hmmm.

I've just let mine go, my collaborator can't afford it.

By all means, go ahead.

Nah I'm not interested in forcing my shitty taste in PCs on poor schmucks buying the adventure book.

>can't afford it
It's only 300...

>only 300

I mean I could understand if you just meant you weren't prepared to blow 300 on a kickstarter like most people aren't prepared to blow 2k on a mobile workstation because they don't need it and probably don't want it that much, but can't afford it?

Is the tournament going to allow surrenders? I need to know if making my Saga Arc 'Convince a Competitor to Buy Me Dinner' is something that's doable.

Kinda hard to afford $300 when Capitalism has you working for hourly wages beneath the poverty line.

Sounds more like a Glory Arc.
Also, Saga Arcs are party-wide, no?

>capitalist dogs
Every time. Have a charity screencap.

Not if it's a party of 1 and the Saga ends when the Tournament is over.

We're both students and neither of us are employed perhaps can't afford was the wrong wording but "Will not be able to maintain our current lifestyles for the rest of term." is more information than you probably wanted anyway.

Oh okay.
Good luck with your studies.

Thanks! Microspheres are a bitch!

Drunken pirate waifu confirmed

Sure beats communism working you for bread crusts and not getting shot.

Or we could just invest in automation and employ a universal basic income, make college free, and reap in a new golden age of me not having to join the military to afford a surgery.

Valkyrie waifu when?

Actually, pure communism failing generally is either a problem of the zero-return trap (i.e. you'll get everything as charity anyway so you're not motivated to work hard) and the problem that we're not actually post scarcity. As it currently stands, the ridiculous welfare level in Nordic nations comes close to communism.

Automation has a fundamental problem, and that is the problem that either everyone who is not a skilled worker (read: researcher or engineer type) or a creative worker (writers, artists, moviemakers, gaym makers) become immediately obselete, at which point the people on top will beg the question "why the fuck do we need to pay for these people".

Man im glad i picked up my Elf waifu this morning. Didnt think that'd start a chain reaction of yall buying them up

That's why you make college free, too, so they can get learned up. But most importantly so I don't have to die to commie flak over the South China Sea.

There are a bunch of grunt level $15 perbhour jobs youll never be able to fully automate out of existence because you need a dude to go stand out there in the field. I dunno why anyone would do this job if they were already getting that level of money for free though

>"why the fuck do we need to pay for these people?"
Universal basic income is not often referred to as a bribe to not revolt but it is and there's nothing really wrong with that so long as you can sustain it and try to refit the populace to face in a new and useful direction.

What would be a neat 2spooky5me curse for a ship? I'd rather avoid the Pirates of the Caribbean style of turning sailors into monster-slaves.

>females all gone
>still 2 males left
...could it be that the reason why you have so many female characters in games where they might not fit the setting is due less to feminism and due more to people being more fond of writing up girls?

>college free
You don't fucking understand user. Being learned up means fuck all. Do you think 90% of the population have what it actually takes to become an actually skilled worker not in charge of menial busywork that can be automated? A good half of wall street is unnecessary employees even today, most finance grunts just push around excel boxes and do rote transactions all day long.

>you need a dude to go stand out there in the field
You mean waitresses and criers and shit? The stuff Japan is working on right now?

>Universal basic income is not often referred to as a bribe to not revolt but it is
The point is that 95% of the population is both powerless and useless under automation. Presuming EVERYONE is automated, that's fine (but then humans in general are obselete and we may as well kill ourselves), but when you have a few humans on top who are still useful and a load of others who are not...
Now, if you don't implement a basic income but implement a basic supply, that's different. Some things under automation are basically post-scarcity. Money is no longer needed for those things.

I've got no qualms with a fat welfare state, so long as it at least makes an effort to preserve market forces.

People can be induced to work. The real problems are organizational. Without a market you can't accuratly set prices or effectivly abandon strategies. You end up with inefficiencies in the system like Italy importing shitty soviet cars by the shipload just to melt them down for the cheap high quality steel.

And as funny as dumb shit like that is, millions due if it happens in the wrong industry.

>People can be induced to work.
For what? No extra income or extra welfare? Remember what Marxism entails. You get all your shit for free and you work out of goodwill to the community.

>accurately set prices
MARKET prices. The Market price has nothing to do with the true price because the fundamental point of the market is that there IS no true price. Communism pre-assumes post-scarcity as a condition, that is to say, all things under a market have a price of 0. This is obviously stupid, but it's how it works.

It'll be okay. It'll all be okay.

Pffff, Japanese wouldn't even know I'm Russian. Europeans think I and my sister are Scots for some reason.

Whenever it takes damage the natural groaning and creaking of the wood and rope start to blend together into a sound uncannily like a beast moaning in pain. the wood around its portholes starts to give forth it's resin giving the appearance of a row of weeping eyes.

It's best to go belowdecks only in pairs or groups when the the ship is like this until it can be put into port and repaired, for sailors or passengers who are doen there by themselves will sometimes vanish without a trace.

Yet sometimes such a sacrifice may be called for, for whenever the ship takes someone in this way, its damages will begin to 'heal', planks twisting themselves back into position and growing like living wood to replace that which was shorn away, until whatever was damaged is perfectly repaired. Albeit usually with a smattering of tiny leafy twigs and branches growing out of the fresh wood that will need to be trimmed back.

Does your sister have any idea?

>But when you have a few humans on top who are still useful and a load of others who are not...
That's why shrinking population in developed countries that work on automating more and more is actually a good thing and not the end of the world.

>For what? No extra income or extra welfare? Remember what Marxism entails. You get all your shit for free and you work out of goodwill to the community.
I would actually love to learn how traditionally work with wood. With jointing and stuff. That's something that I don't have the time and money for right now, since I have to study to be in a position that I have good chances for a Job later.
If there was universal income, I might just try it out and may end up making my own furniture.

Yep, we were traveling together

>I would actually love to learn how traditionally work with wood.
So would most people, but this pre-implies post-scarcity, which isn't true right now.

>So would most people, but this pre-implies post-scarcity, which isn't true right now.
Yeah, I'm well aware of that. I just wanted to point out that probably many people would like to work at something even if they don't have to in answer to
>>People can be induced to work.
>For what?

But true, unless there is post-scarcity it's a bit moot. If everybody had universal income in a non PS society they would probably not work hard enough to sustain that society.

Well I hate that shit, I won't be participating.

Please fluff surrenders to not have the loser die.

>kickstarter and reddit links and maybe some of the others are broken

I like it!

I can't wait for the Q&A. I have *VERY* specific questions about zellislava that need answered.

Did Jimmy actually market somewhere? We're having a high day in terms of funding today.

Remember when Jimmy used to A the Qs we had in this thread?

Waifu slots got bought up.

No when i say in the field i mean in the field. You know outside. Scaffolds need to be built, flanges tightened, fugitive emissions sniffed, tanks cleaned, machinery operated

Well I finally got to shove my gm+ in. Nothing to do with marketing in my case. And I think the update (I guess people that just follow the KS and have not backed yet get notified on them?) and Iconic Visionary did also do their part.

If Matt Easton mentioned the game or did a video on tabletop games in general where he mentioned the game, that would translate to thousands of dollars and probably a stretch goal or two. To that end, I've made a comment on his latest video, which I'd recommend folks interested in shilling go ahead and upvote, and maybe comment on if you've something to say.

youtube.com/watch?v=k01b7_7Puzk&lc=z12wi14ozk2xdhlad04cc35opuzngz0hybc

Even if he doesn't make a video, seeing it mentioned in a highly rated comment may get some people's attention.

All of those are able to be automated, what the hell you on about? They're not feasible right now but machines are already semiautomated compared to 50 years ago. Fuck, farming tractors things like bulldozers / tow trucks can be automated completely, the main reason why they're usually not is for safety reasons these days. Even cars are being automated.

Matt Easton only really talks about stuff he knows though. It might be better to go after someone like Lindybeige or Skallagrim.

>3) You may only gain -5 Points from Banes. For example, normally if you have 1 PCP in Banes, then take Honor (-15) Severed Limb (-15), you have 15 Boon Points to spend. With this change, you only have 5 Boon points to spend. In a similar setup, you have 5 PCP in BB (5 Boon Points), and take the same banes, as wells as Wanted (-5). Normally, that's 25 total boon points, now it's only 20.

Shouldn't that last one be 10 total boon points? You get 5 from PCP and you can only get up to 5 more from taking Banes. So 5+5=10.

To be extra trolly, make this comment on Jake Norwood videos.

He does YouTube?

>5) You may not buy more Orichalcum or silversteel weapons, though armor is allowed, and you cannot purchase more of such items than their respective Limited Supply Number.
Oh well that's great. Armor doesn't have a limited supply number. We can take as much as we want.

Don't fucking do that. There was already copyright drama. Don't drag him back in.

>Set the next tournament in the bronze age
>Everything is heavier and more expensive

Would this help?

You've never done any of those jobs if you think they can be automated cheap enough to even bother lol. People are so cheap its easier to just pay two extra guys 70 hours worth of pay than it is to rent equipment.

>farming tractors
>not rented
Motherfucker even chinese villages in bumfuck nowhere with near-0 labor costs are renting tractors these days. And you're retarded.
>it's not feasible right now
>haha they will never be automated!
Guess what artisans thought in the 1300s.

Jesus christ. If you're going to do this, at least use SoS analogies.

Its cool that you think a robot will be able to find 50 year old pipe buried in the Louisiana swamp, dig a 2 by 2 hole, tie a strap around it and then gently tug it free of its earthy prison being careful not to break its asbestos covered exterior or loose the stored product within.

>find 50 year old pipe
Not difficult to program if you know what you're looking for.

>dig a 2 by 2 hole
Literally 1st semester lecture #3 robotics course tier.

>tie a strap
Incredibly easy.

>gently tug it free ... loose the stored product
The main problem is handling; robots are less dextrous than humans, for now, because they lack a sufficient feedback mechanism and are usually not programmed to care about spatial adjustmen. Do you think it's impossible?
I mean it's cool that you think robots will be able to create a designed shirt that has thousands of threads and miniscule weaves back and forth. Impossible right?

Communism in what sense? It sure as living fuck isn't a classless stateless society, and everyone sure as fuck isn't enjoying the "fruits of their labor," the state is ENORMOUS in Denmark (600% tax on cars wew) and the huge taxes increasingly go to stupid shit that nobody wants. The same is true everywhere in Scandinavia, especially in Sweden where this is looking like it is actually going to start social crisis.

It's better than a lot of other places but Communism in the Marxist sense has never been further away in Scandinavia, the fabled "withering" is just not happening, the government keeps getting more and more bloated and huge. Moreover, corporate taxes are actually very low, the upper class is still phenomenally wealthy, the redistribution is basically from the middle class to the middle class and the lower class simply doesn't exist. I would say the Nordic Socialism model is actually proof that Marx was an ass-grabbing retard and Bakunin was right. If you want Anarchy you must start from Anarchist principles, you cannot just hope for a transformation over time.

>if you want Anarchy
>marxism
>anarchy
Excuse me?

>$23,119
We #magic now.

Communism, as in end-goal communism is supposed to be a classless stateless society. Did you actually read Marx? He envisioned a natural transition from Capitalism (which builds the system) to Socialism (which gains control of the system) through Withering (which kills off the "unnecessary" part of the system i.e. the State) to Communism (classless stateless society with communal ownership of MoP)

Except the withering literally never happens. Every time something resembling Marx's vision of Communism actually occurs it's after a war or a revolution where it is implemented immediately, endures for a few years, and then reverts to some other system.

The question is will it be cost effective. Who hired a team of engineers to design a robot to find a pipe, dig a hole and fix the pipe? That probably cost 800,000 dollars. Why?
Will the machine be capable of navigating its way to the location, can the machine improvise if something about the situation is unusual, and would it have been cheaper to just pay someone to do it instead?

We're nowhere close to that scenario yet. Battery supply is still a crippling issue for robotics designers, and even in the most ideal of circumstances you still generally require a specialized platform to perform any given task. Humans on the other hand have never been more numerous than they are now. It's definitely an employer's market for manual labor, this is why we still have aztecs picking crops for us in fields when we've probably had the technology to do it with machines since the 1990s.

user Marx did not envision a classless stateless society. He envisioned a classless one. His notion of statelessness was rooted in the concept that literally everyone was part of the state. Anarchy emphasizes individuality, marxism empahsizes the opposite.
His "withering" is the withering of the exploiters, but can also be interpreted to be the withering of exploitation i.e. withering of income and wealth inequality. That there is no lower class in Sweden means it is closer to Marxism that far away. The Proletariat are merely the ones who own nothing but their own labor, but under a system where you enter a dictatorship of the proletariat, that is to say, where everyone is a member of the proletariat, nobody is a proletariat. The bourgeoisie are those who own the means of production. If the proletariat as a class seize those means, they become the bourgeoisie.
The concept that the proletariat are fading is the withering. The withering of the bourgeoisie doesn't necessary mean that the bourgeoisie become poor. It can also mean that the proletariat are the ones disappearing, because it's not the withering of wealth but of disparity. With less disparity, you also have less need for the state (in theory, this is actually bullshit) - hence why taxes in Scandinavia is "increasingly going to stupid things nobody wants".

What about in 50 years though? A hundred? That you think there's anything that can't be automated is foolish and overestimating your own value. The only things that can't be automated are those that have no correctness inherent. Philosophy, the creative arts perhaps, and things you do for enjoyment.

>what about in 50 years though
It isn't 50 years from now.

>What about a hundred
It isn't a hundred years from now.

>That you think there's anything that can't be automated is foolish and overestimating your own value.
It may be pessimistic but it's also objectively true at the moment. My job can't be automated yet, and if that eventuality is 40 years away then it might as well be 4000 years away. That you think something that might happen decades in the future is a good enough reason for us to implement pie in the sky economic nonsense right now is far more foolish.

Like every other futuristic bullshit: Call me when it happens. When we actually replace 90% of the workforce with machines we can discuss economic models.

>It isn't 50 years from now.
>It isn't a hundred years from now.
Yes and we're also not post-scarcity nor is there political backing for a basic income. Look nigger, why the fuck are you discussing this at all then?

>good idea
>I can't motherfucking read and think that an attack on its socioeconomic feasibility is an endorsement
>an admission that "they're not feasible right now" is a push that they're feasible right now
Kill yourself. You claimed "youll never be able to fully automate" and are now backtracking, and that "People are so cheap its easier to just pay two extra guys 70 hours worth of pay than it is to rent equipment." when this is blatantly false.

That isn't what I read. The end result isn't supposed to be a giant government that charges me six times the value of a car so that it can give my money to other people, the end result is suppose to be a society in which the business I work at isn't owned by some venture capitalist in another country. Instead, both of those things are the case, and it is not changing.

This is all starting to sound pretty dystopian.

>The end result isn't supposed to be a giant government that charges me six times the value of a car so that it can give my money to other people
No, that's supposed to be the end result. The end result is that you earn 0 money. Ever. You will never see a wagecheck in your life. You are handed shit people produced for free, and work for free because you want to. That's marxism. It's also why it presupposes either post-scarcity or makes humans out to be saints.
